The National Geographic Society (NGS), headquartered in Washington, D.C., United States, is one of the largest nonprofit scientific and educational organizations in the world. Founded in 1888, its interests include geography, archaeology, and natural science, the promotion of environmental and historical conservation, and the study of world culture and history. The National Geographic Society's logo is a yellow portrait frame—rectangular in shape—which appears on the margins surrounding the front covers of its magazines and as its television channel logo. Through National Geographic Partners (a joint venture with The Walt Disney Company), the Society operates the magazine, TV channels, a website, worldwide events, and other media operations.
A beautifully written book giving us a glimpse of how truly wonderful and astounding animal minds are. Nature will never cease to amaze and inspire me ❤️!!
It's my first time reading a National Geographic, I was expecting more. This is meant for a larger public and that's fine. There were interesting parts but they barely scratch the surface and then on to the next subject, leaving me wanting more on the datas and sources of the research they talk about. Maybe I'm asking for too much. What did I expect, that a magazine would unlock all the knowledge on the animal kingdom for me!? Lol Here is my favorite quote from this issue: "What "makes us human" is usually framed as both what's important to us and what makes us different. It's an odd habit, as if our species-level sense of self-worth is tied up in what separates us from other animals rather than something we might share. Many such traits have been suggested and then challenged, including language, empathy, culture, and collaboration."
I really enjoyed this however it barely scratches the surface. Just when you get really interested something, on to the next topic. I had read of most of the cases/examples discussed but not all.
