If you are a Brayden fan, get this, don't hesitate! If you haven't read Brayden before, well you might as well start now. When a new Brayden book comes out, I have to drop everything and read it. I can count the number of authors I do this with, on one hand. While I read a lot of pure romances, to be perfectly honest, it is not my favorite genre. I much prefer my romance to go with a mystery, or in space, or with dragons. But if every pure romance book was written with the same quality of a Brayden book, I would be the biggest pure romance fan on the planet.

In my opinion, Brayden writes two types of romances. Those a little deeper like Waiting in the Wings and Strawberry Summer, then the more happy, fun romances like the Soho Loft series. I love both types equally, it is hard to pick favorites. This book, is the first in a new series that has that happy vibe. As other reviewers have mentioned, this has the feel of the Soho series, but is out in California. This is book 1 of a 4 book series, and boy it is off to a great start. And while it does have that Soho vibe, I want to make clear, it does not feel recycled. The setting, characters, jobs, it is all new. Brayden is one of the best romance authors out there period, and she doesn't let her fans down.

I have mentioned in the past, I love romances with a small town girl with a big Hollywood star. For whatever reason, that concept works for me. While this is not a small town girl with a Hollywood star, it is with a big time television producer. A similar concept that worked just as well for me.

The two mains in this book are Izzy and Taylor. Both are extremely likeable. I actually had trouble deciding who I connected with more. In the end Izzy won. Izzy is witty and sarcastic and I loved it. Brayden wrote some wonderful, smart dialog for her character. Not only are the characters likeable, but they have a ton of chemistry together. The chemistry is so obvious, and I love that in a romance. But the romance is only a part of the story. The new group of friends Izzy meets, play a great role in this book. Brayden is wonderful at writing secondary characters, each with their own unique personalities. Even though, as a reader, you are learning new names, you instantly remember who everyone is because Brayden makes all her characters come to life.

I don't want to write more about the story and give too much away. I will say, if you are a lesfic romance fan, this book is for you. I recommend it without a doubt. I'm so excited for future books in this series, and I am glad we don't have to wait too long (February is book 2 I believe). I do want to mention, I love the character of Gia, the surfer. I can't wait for her story! Grab this book, you won't be disappointed.

An ARC was given to me by BSB, for a honest review.

4.5 stars!
Bestselling author M.Brayden returns with her most ambitious book to date,a spellbinding novel of psychological romance, friendships,a love story, set in the glamorous, wealthy world of Hollywood:-- a fluffy imaginative and atmospheric tale of revenge and betrayal, behind the cameras scandals, presumed guilt and innocence, mean girl persona reminiscent of her past writings/series. Written with masterful precision and control, this storyline brilliantly moves forward, playing out their(leads)developing feelings side by side--- interweaving events to reveal every truth. Great storytelling, good pace and editing, well developed, defined and likable group of characters...recommend to everyone

This book is the first of a lesbian romance series featuring a group of friends living in an apartment complex. Sounds familiar? I thought so too. :) The author's SoHo Loft series is so popular and so well-loved it's impossible not to think like this isn't just the West Coast version of it. That was how I felt going into the book. But you know what, it never felt like a rehash or a repeat at all, ever. While the basic premise is the same, the characters, the situations they're in, the dialogue, the backgrounds...all fresh. Everything, that is, except for the plot progression, which is by-the-numbers Brayden romance.

Normally, this is the part where I would do an introduction of the characters and a brief run-through of the plot, but for this book, it feels unnecessary. Superfluous even. Why? It doesn't matter who the characters are and what they do. What matters is the author's ability to make them come alive, how easy it is for us to identify with them, and how real they feel. Of course, they are all "beautiful people". But they have issues. They make mistakes. They learn to say sorry and to forgive. In other words, they're human. But what makes a Brayden book, a Brayden book, is the signature smart, perfectly-executed dialogue. Witty repartees and snappy comebacks left me with a perpetual smile on my face throughout the book. The author walked a perfectly-balanced fine line between "showing" and "telling", and the effect is pure enjoyment for the reader.

Aside from the reading pleasure I got, there was a much deeper satisfaction of reading a book that cherishes and celebrates female friendships. The banter, the camaraderie, the seeing-through-the-bullshit and telling-it-like-it-is moments. Loved them. Move over, midnight chocolate. (I will miss the chocolate, though. :)) Anyway, the book provides a solid foundation for what promises to be an interesting series. The friends are an intriguing bunch, though none of them so far, are on the level of larger-than-life as say, Jessica or Mallory (from Soho Loft). (Gimme power ladies anytime!) But we'll see. Interesting reading times ahead.

4.5 stars
ARC from Netgalley and BSB

P.S. Even though I feel I don't need to talk about the characters in-depth for people to decide whether to read the book, I still need to mention that I love, love the lead character Isabel Chase and her runaway mouth. Who amongst us, except for the supremely arrogant/entitled, doesn't feel like an impostor in way over our heads when we stumble upon a bit of good luck and land the job or gig of our dreams? I totally got her. She'll be hard to top. While it's the Jessicas and the Mallorys we fantasize about long after, it's still the Brooklyns, Sams and Isabels who steal our hears. Also, the book may be formula but i loved how it kicked the never-fall-for-the-boss trope in the nuts and didn't even look back. Bravo!

PPS. About the rating? Don't mind it. It's still in flux. I haven't finalized yet where to slot it in my very crowded list of Brayden books hovering between 4.5 and 5, though my gut tells me it comes right after First Position and Kiss the Girls. I'll have to revisit the ratings someday and edit accordingly. :)

I'VE FOUND IT. My FAVORITE Melissa Brayden book. Excuse me while I play my own victory music and I'm not saying that it's Cardi B but it's probably Cardi B.

This story had exaaaaaacccctlllyyyyy what I've been looking for. Romance, intense chemistry, hot femme-y leads, a light mood, an interesting setting. Plus, the behind-the-scenes look into the TV world was the extra bit that set off my love meter. In fact, I may enjoy this group of friends more than the Savvy team.

As I've mentioned, the overall BTS writing theme was so much fun to follow. I related to the characters more than any of Brayden's previous books, at least when it comes to interests. Only a few times did my nitpick--too many similar voices--bother me because the main two's personalities were so distinct. And sexyyyyy. They'd do things that weren't overly sensual and I'd still get tingles because I could feel the passion. Sigh. :))

I'm gaga in love with Taylor's character. She ticks all the boxes, yum.

Also: Are there really that many blonde women everywhere? I felt like a blonde was hiding in the bushes at every setting.

I savored it and found myself mourning its inevitable end when I was only halfway through. That's a big deal! I will give this a smooth five stars, even though it could toe the line of an 4.8 . Either way, it was a joy and it's the TOP OF MY BRAYDEN PILE. Thank you so much for brightening a bland, rainy day.

“Eyes Like Those” is one of my favorite Melissa Brayden books, and Melissa Sternenberg’s fantastic narration makes this a joy to listen to.

The Seven Shores complex reminds me of Maggie Cummings’ Bay West Social book series, but Seven Shores has much less angst. Melissa has created a cast of very likable characters who have very fun interactions with great banter, much like her own Soho Loft series…and again, Seven Shores is more lighthearted, featuring much less angst.

As a matter of fact, until I was 8 hours into the 9 hour book, I thought the entire book would be lighthearted, but no…at that point Brayden succumbed to the urge to introduce MAB (Misunderstanding, Angst and Breakup) due to a bad decision made by one of the MCs. Sigh. Could’ve done without that, actually, and for 30 minutes I didn’t much like one of the two MCs, but it was explained reasonably well and, with the help of friends from both sides, and the dog!, we get our nice HEA.

The evil-ex’s action that impacted Taylor’s career was very relevant with today’s real world headlines, and it makes you wonder if perhaps the pendulum has swung too far with some of the he-said-she-said, or he-said-he-said, or she-said-she-said accusations and denials that are flying around every industry.

While there is great chemistry between the MCs, they fight it for more than half the book, but once they give in we are treated to some wonderfully steamy scenes!

4.5* for “Eyes Like Those”, with 1/2* deducted for the half-hour I endured the breakup (several weeks of time for the characters), but rounded up to 5* because I really enjoyed the book and will listen to it again! Highly recommended!

Didn't like it. And for sure I'm in the minority.

The *entire* time I waited for the shoe to drop. And I'll give her credit it didn't happen till you've spent 80% of the book in hopes things are going to work out. But here's the kicker. It seems *everyone* out there loves it when people break up.

I mean if you look at the reviews on the romance genre, everyone and I do mean everyone, craves angst drama and break ups, bad feels, and people feeling miserable. It's astonishing to me. And the fact that authors are all like, yea this is what you want, have at it.

I have always been hit or miss with Brayden. I've clearly enjoyed half a dozen titles from her where she doesn't follow the tropy crap formulaic approach to rom arcs. But this one, yea she has the MC's treat each other like crap. I didn't even bother reading anything after the break up. I knew it was coming. Hell I didn't even read the 30 page love scene cause I could just tell it wasn't for real.

And people eat this stuff up.

Not me.

I think 99% of my Goodreads friends have already read this book. So I feel like I'm always a day late and a dollar short. You guys are just too quick for me. Anyway, I want to start off by saying that I really like Melissa Brayden's books and will ALWAYS read them. She is a very engaging yet structured author who checks all the boxes(romance, humor, angst, sex)and ties everything up in a nice big bow at the end. And for those reasons, I think she will always be just a 4 star author for me.

Brayden's books never WOW me. I now need to be WOWED in order to shell out 5 stars.

The thing is...I think she could WOW me if she really tried. I'm pretty sure she churns these lesbian romance novels out with her eyes closed. So I would love to see her go outside her formulaic wheelhouse because she sooooo has the writing chops to do it. And most lesbian writers just don't stack up against her writing abilities. Not even close.

Also...(deep breath), I think I will make some enemies now. Here goes: Brayden's sex scenes bore me to death. They seem so vanilla in almost every book. Some kissing, some boobage, then some vagina work. All contained in about 3-4 paragraphs. She needs to take some notes from Riley LaShea and Telanu. Those two authors can write a sex scene that make me want to throw my iPad down in the middle of the fucking day and track down my GF pronto. And I'm not talking erotica. Brayden is such a great writer that she could definitely walk that fine line between awesome novel sex vs. erotica.

And the angst. Ok I get that angst plays a big part in most romance novels. But it has to be believable to me. In Brayden's Strawberry Summer, the angst that occurred was very believable. But in this novel it was just bullshit. Plain old bullshit. You cannot have your wonderfully kind MC turn around and do something so extraordinarily contemptible. The bullshittery level of that "angst" moment was 1000%.

Here's the thing, I never have a desire to re read Brayden's books. That's a huge 4 star vs 5 star bar for me. By the time I'm done one of her books, I say to myself "That was very good....now let me place it in the goodwill pile." I know i'm hard on Brayden but I want her to write a book that I clutch to my chest while I go to sleep. And I think that's what makes me mad because she so has the talent to write a book like that but so far has not....in my opinion. So I will continue to read her books waiting, waiting for that WOW book.

Reading a romance novel done to perfection is as enjoyable as savouring a glass of red wine and nibbling on dark chocolate after a rough week at work. Or that first rich cup of coffee you’ve been jonesing for and didn’t even realize. Melissa Brayden is a master of the craft. She understands the formula which has been used effectively in mainstream romance trilogies and quartets for decades. It is a tried and true formula that works. It’s all about relationships and the feels you get when you meet these characters with all their strengths and their flaws. It’s about friendships developed, strong female bonds and delicious chemistry between the mains. Add wit, humour and dialogue that sings. Brayden delivers all this and brings us to our happy place when her characters overcome whatever obstacles she throws at them to reach their HEA. By the time Isabel and Taylor battle through their personal and professional challenges we readers are left with melted hearts and sappy smiles on our faces. The answer to the final question in the blurb for this novel, was perfection.

Looking forward to seeing what is in store for Gia, Hadley and Autumn. I’m sure we will have more wonderful bonfires on the beach, delicious cups of coffee from The Cat’s Pajamas and heartfelt discussions between friends and lovers.

I have a handful of favorite authors who I will read anything they write. What is glaringly apparent to me and my biased little heart is nothing, nothing, comes close to a Melissa Brayden book. (Well, there is one other writer, but we will leave her nameless for dramatic effect). How is she this good? Each book captivates me, her characters, their dialogue, it gets me every single time in the best possible way. I mean really, how is the dialogue so good? It just reads so well! I would give up coffee on a cold winter morning for this lady's books. They are just that amazing!

After the reading slump of all reading slumps, knowing that this was on the horizon gave me hope for an amazing story with protagonists I couldn't help but love. Did she deliver? Oh hell yes! Goodness gracious that was fantastic. Do you know a moment when you're reading along and your heart stops, and you start talking out loud trying to get the character to listen to you? You are so immersed in a story you can feel every emotion radiating off the page. This happened to me with this book! How great is that?

The story starts off with Isabel Chase losing yet another terrible job and fretting how she was gonna pay the bills. Being a waitress is not a fit for Isabel but she keeps doing the job to keep her cat fed and force herself to continue to write, her one true passion. As lady luck strikes just at the right moment, Isabel gets the chance of a lifetime and heads to Hollywood to interview for a staff writer position on a hit television family drama. This is her big break if only she can keep her fears and anxiety at bay.

Taylor Andrews is the executive producer for said TV show. At 32, Taylor has become the It Girl in TV. Her shows have high ratings and basically, everything she touches becomes a success. Shonda Rhimes, better watch out! With five years at the helm, the ratings have dipped just a bit and it's time to shake things up to keep the show going.

I will say both characters are fabulous. They're fun, they're interesting and Brayden makes them so real, with flaws and all. You can't help for rooting for their success and romance. Not, to mention she gives you a handful of other characters that you will be chomping at the bit to hear their stories as well. I'll wrap up my gushing, with this book is delightful. Brayden brought the heat with this one and I loved every second with it. I cannot wait for the next in the series. If you are a Brayden fan grab this one and enjoy the ride! Good Lord, it was good!!!!

I had been holding off on reading this series because I think I liked the idea of having more Brayden books out there that I had not read yet. Well, that was just stupid. I punished myself for no reason whatsoever. This was too good to pass up and am kicking myself for not reading it sooner.

Isabel is a struggling writer. Loads of talent but hasn't gotten her big shot yet. Waiting tables and getting fired is her mode of operation. Until she gets a call from an old college friend, Celeste, who is leaving her LA writing gig on a top rated television show for some awesome opportunity overseas. She has put in a good word for Isabel to the show runner, Taylor Andrews.

I loved this story so much.

Isabel opens herself up to developing friendships with the ladies that live in her Seven Shores apartment complex. Each of them unique in their own rights. And since I have read Brayden's SoHo Loft series, I am pretty certain I can look forward to read about their individual stories in future installments.

Taylor is not just a one dimensional boss/love interest to the awkward and interesting newcomer Isabel. Taylor is complex with an interesting past where she was a bit overweight and bullied by the spoiled offspring of the rich and famous in Beverly Hills.

Since Taylor is the showrunner and Isabel's boss, you can already guess that any type of relationship would be somewhat forbidden/frowned upon. Add in a dash of a famous ex that needs to be catered to, a splash of insecurity, and a dab of betrayal. You have a recipe for a great angsty romance.

I have to mention that this book contains the cutest first kiss scene. One of my favorites ever.

It also has a swoon worthy resolution that was fitting for the way it had been embedded the entire length of the book.

Overall, there wasn't anything I didn't like about this. It made me laugh. The dialogue is good and snarky at times. Lots of chemistry. A real sense of building something strong and deep as opposed to surface level attraction. I cried at the very realistic and believable conflict. I understood the motivations and reactions by both of them and it was such a heartbreaking situation.

I recommend this to everyone. Romance fans, Brayden fans, television, celebrity, surfing, friendship, anxiety, insecurity, character growth, and junk food.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and Bold Strokes Books for an honest review.

A young woman, relatively speaking, of roughly 28-29 years of age dejectedly returns home from work. Ex-work. She’s been fired, yet again. Over fennel. She’s, obviously enough, quite sad. She explains her sadness to Fat Tony, who is her uncle and a gangster. He whacks everyone at the restaurant. The end.

Wait, sorry, Fat Tony is Isabel’s grumpy cat. Not a mobster. So, instead of ‘killing’ everyone who wronged her, the cat attacks her feet. Moments later Isabel’s life turns a completely different direction – her former college friend, wait, no, still friend, her friend from college sets Isabel up with an interview with a television series to be a writer on it. She hurriedly sets things up, gets hired, and promptly dumps coffee onto her new boss. And thus is Isabel meet, and thus is the book started.

As noted, Isabel is rapidly approaching her thirties and has spent her life winning awards at film festivals and . . . struggling mightily to have that actually mean anything (like in her bank account). Basically, what I’m saying is that she has received critical success on short films, but no financial success. Oh, and she has no lover in her life.

Enter . . . Gia, Hadley, Autumn and . . . um, well there’s also Stephanie . . and . . well, a bunch of people who live in Isabel’s cozy apartment building on the beach. Wait, you thought I was going to mention a love interest? Are you sure I haven’t? Right, so, my point is/was: Isabel, unlike her normal nature, instantly finds some friends to hang out with. Plus, she has that great gig on a high rated television show.

Meanwhile, a woman of about 32 has been running a highly rated television show for the past 5 or so years (well, this is season 5, so, past 4 years?). She has no one currently in her life, romantically, but then – she has no time for something like that. She’s run ragged from script meetings, to meetings with producers, to meetings with the budget people, to meetings with the network, to . . . well, you get the idea.

Well, she does occasionally have naked (or at least topless) women in her office (and in her life). Except . . . that’s the ex who won’t stop attempting to prolong the relationship. Taylor Andrews, who I now realize I forgot to name, has learned at least one lesson from her life, well many lessons but one specific one matters for this story, - she’ll never again have a relationship with someone she works with.

Isabel finds Taylor to be gorgeous. Taylor can’t stop examining Isabel’s traits, habits, clothing, and body. Things proceed from there.

This is/was a rather good book here. Good solid plot, great side characters (both those seen as friends off the set, and those on the set), great romance, and, and this one surprised me, great bits of humor. I don’t actually remember if that’s normal or not for a Brayden book. I’d have to go back and look over my reviews, but when I think of a Brayden book I think of well written books with great characters, good romances, and a certain formulistic foreshadowing of key plot points (specifically the key plot point that’ll cause mischief and problems with the budding relationship). Humor? Not an immediate thought that comes to mind.

But this book kept making me laugh, and all the other great points of a Brayden book were also there (unless you think that foreshadowing thing is a great advantage – because that seemed to be missing – which I liked). The ‘point of contention’ seemed logical to the story, and yet wasn’t foreshadowed with large glowing neon arrows.

My mind has suddenly become blank. Why’d that happen? Mmphs.

Right, so – there is a dog in this story, plus a cat. Both have important roles to play, though the dog more so than the cat. Family pops up, but more as an aside – as in, Isabel thinks of her father once or twice. I am not sure Taylor ever had family (okay, yes, her parents were mentioned, but I don’t think they played any role in this book). No kids were harmed in the telling of this story (also, no kids appeared, not even stray ones unrelated to the story).

Sex occurred. Graphically. Sometimes publically.

Right . . . so . . . great book.

Oh! Remembered something: POV? Both main characters have their point of view seen by the reader. Plus, unrelated, this is the first in a series and the second book has already been revealed - and stars Autumn of Cat's PJ's.

WHY IS THIS BOOK SO UNKNOWN? I have decided to end this.

Reasons why you should give this a try: slow-burn, f/f romance, funny, female friendship, tv industry, characters/awesome pets, female-empowerment.

The pace is a little slow, nothing is instant, everything develops slowly and that’s what made me fall in love more.

For me it was like watching an all female-gay version of F.R.I.E.N.D.S, funny and comedy yet a bit deep. Honestly, it was like reading a whole season of it.

Plot:

We follow Isabel as she gets a job as one of the team writers in a famous tv show, where she meets Taylor the executive producer, whom she encounters having an attraction towards. As well as the journey of her adjusting to California and making new friends. The action and progress of the relationship between both characters move slowly, it builds, is basically a slow-burn romance. You really need to have this in mind, because the story moves slowly. Also, majority of the book happens in the backstage/ writing scene of the tv show, which I was a huge fan of. I found it fascinating, I loved it.

Characters:

↪Isabel:
Her insecurities, her anxiety, her panic attacks, all relatable. I loved her sarcasm and way of being, she was so funny and I just loved her perspective. She made me laugh out loud a lot.

↪Taylor: You can totally see she is a bit more mature, but still was so fun and had an interesting perspective on things. I loved how after meeting Isabella we see her loosening more and more.

↪Friends-female-gang: Gia, Hadley, and Autumn. I loved all three of them, and they are not made to just fill an empty space in the story, they have depth and each one has a lot of potential. I love their support for each other, they were funny and tried to help when necessary. Also, all of them are attracted to females, I wanna say lesbians but hey I don’t know, it hasn’t been acknowledged. Also, the cat-pajamas coffee shop is a place I would love to visit in real life. The scenes written here reminded me so much of central perks, I cannot shake it. Also kudos to Scarlett, she was cool too. I mean who wasn’t cool honestly.

↪Mr. Fat Tony: I LOVED THIS CAT. Perhaps more than him was the way Isabel treated him, it was the cutest. She talked to him as if he was a real person and I could relate so hard.

↪Raisin: THIS DOG WAS SUPER CUTE TOO.

↪Aspen & Lyric: Awful people, bye. Yes, the pets are better than this characters.

Relationship: As I have mentioned like 4,000 times before, is a slow-burn romance. Nothing like love at first sight or all that crap. The relationship develops slowly and the sexual tension OMG, I was burning just with the kiss scene, damn the tension. They were so sweet with each other and I loved it. Also for the first time in a long time, I couldn’t predict the conflict, it was refreshing. This relationship is supportive and healthy, I ship it so hard.

F/F romance: I loved that the sexuality in this book is just one more attribute and part of our characters. Is not the center of the whole thing. They are two adult women with ambition and incredible creative skills, who knew what they liked. It was also very interesting to see how Taylor was divorced, I think many women out there could relate to her.

Recommend it, give it a try. I loved it and wasn’t expecting it at all. Maybe you will be next.

Disclaimer: I'm a fan of Melissa Brayden, she's at the top of my favourite lesfic authors (see https://lezreviewbooks.wordpress.com/...). Whenever her books are published, I automatically put it at the top of my to-read list. So I might not be completely neutral in my review but who is it anyway?

Ms. Brayden introduces with Eyes like those, a new book series called Seven shores. But this time instead of New York (as in the Soho loft series), the setting is California. The author trades an advertising agency for a TV show production, skyscrapers for coastal sunsets, Starbucks for an indie coffee shop and midnight chocolate feasts for barbecues on the beach. Despite the obvious differences, she manages again to introduce endearing characters, long lasting friendships and a hot romance. Pure Melissa Brayden at her best.

Overall, another great read that won't disappoint Brayden's fans. Can't wait for the rest of the series. 5 stars.

A good friend told me to read this as I was in a bit of a mediocre funk of lesbian fiction. OMG, she was so right. I cannot praise Breydon enough. This book was excellent .

The two main characters Izzy and Taylor are really likable. Both had great chemistry and some of the dialogue had me in stitches. Izzy being really sarcastic, but she really only told the truth. Izzy's group of friends who she meets when she moves to L.A. are a great addition to the story line. They contribute to the script all the way through. Offering advice and snippets of worldly advice throughout. Even the star of the show plays her part. Although in my opinion she was really easy to dislike. You may think that there are too many characters to keep track off. But surprisingly that isn't the case. Braydon brings them all too life with their own foibles and personalities. You don't forget who is who.

I'm not going to spill anything about the plot but if you know Breydon then I'm sure you will check this out. If you have never read her before, believe me you won't regret it. I was in a serious funk and Breydon ripped me right out of it so thanks. Enjoy!

Does anyone still review Melissa Brayden books without saying something along the lines of "she did it again"? 'Cause she did it again. I was somewhat disappointed by the last book she published so the start of this new series has me pretty excited. This is going to be a weird review because I have a lot of feelings but the short version is I loved this book even though nothing about it surprised me a whole lot.

This is typical Brayden, meaning if you've loved her books before, you'll probably like this too. If you didn't like them, though, I doubt this will be the miracle that changes your mind about her writing, because it's not very different than the others. Here's the thing: at this point no one who's read three or more of her books can deny she follows a formula when it comes to the story pacing. I distinctly remember noticing that in the third book of hers I read in a row. In my opinion, though, the formula goes beyond that. I'll talk about the good things first, though.

The good is that my favorite works of hers are the ones about women like these, when it comes to what they work with and where they live. The small town books about small town girls? I didn't really like them as much. My favorites were set in New York, about ambitious artists and competitive businesswomen. So you could say this one is right up my alley with two TV writers in Hollywood. Isabel and Taylor were awesome, passionate about their work and great together. The book was impossible to put down and it seriously amazes me that Brayden always manages this. I read this while listing in my head all the similarities I noticed with her other books that I've read, and I was still captured by the storytelling and the quippy dialogue and the always heartwarming romance.

Now here's where I'll get boring. The other time Brayden wrote a series like this was Soho Loft, and it's well known and liked amongst lesbian fiction readers. So guess what? Brayden's doing it again, and this time what I mean is what I said about her formula going beyond story pacing — she does it with the characters' personalities too. Soho Loft was about four girls, Seven Shores is again about four girls, and their personalities are basically the same. Isabel is Brooklyn — quirky, talented, ridiculously ambitious and a little bit of a mess. Instead of Brooklyn's abandonment issues, though, Isabel's got anxiety, and just like in Kiss The Girl, it's the biggest obstacle in their relationship. Hadley and Gia are Sam and Hunter, easily; Hadley is the hopeless romantic, sweet and optimistic, and Gia is cool and popular and free-spirited. There were a few moments where I wondered if they'll get together like Sam and Hunter did, and I kinda hope so because they were adorable. Last but not least, Autumn is obviously Mallory, the most level-headed of the group. The girls don't all work together but Autumn would sure be the boss if they did. The circumstances are a lot different, but deep down, the girls' dynamic is wildly similar to what Brayden already did in Soho Loft. The Brayden magic is she has me excited about it anyway.

I don't mean for this review to be a list of similarities between the two series so I'm not gonna go into how even Taylor sounds like Jessica Lennox, but this is something I feel the need to be honest about. Long story short, Brayden is a talented writer, but I feel like if she doesn't change it up soon, even her most loyal fans are eventually going to get tired of the same brand of quirky dialogue and the predictable major breakup in every book. For now, they're still a lot of fun to read, though.

I received this ARC from NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books in exchange for an honest review.

I’m Classic Melissa Brayden! I think no matter what she wrote it will be a hit. The story, characters, the timing.
She's the safest author I could recommend to anyone.
New series from her and I'm hooked!
Seven shores is kind of like the Soho series.
Taylor and Izzy are like Brooklyn and Jessica. Talking about work versus love.

If you're looking for something light, sweet and a page turner you have to get this one, you'll never go wrong totally worth every penny.
It also involves a crazy ex.

I'm still not over this one but I'm also looking forward to Autumn's story. I hope Gia will be next then Hadley. Imagining a Blue Crush sorta story from Gia. (seen on amazon: Gia will be in the third book. Seen the blurb and it’s really making me crazy, sorry Autumn!)

A great love story and so enjoyed reading the book! Loved the 2 MCs, Taylor and Isabel, their banters (even found myself grinning & laughing out loud at times 😄), the build-up to their romance, which was nicely paced, and the angst! The group of female friends were simply great as well and I find myself wanting to be in that circle of friends.

An excellent read and if you are a hopeless romantic, like me, go get this book.

Melissa Brayden knocks it out of the park once again with this fantastic and beautifully written novel. Brayden is one of my all time favourite Lesbian fiction authors and Eyes Like Those has been on my must read list for quite some time so when it finally arrived on my kindle I was more than a little excited and dropped everything to dive right in.

The novel begins with Isabel Chase getting a job, as a writer on a hit tv show in L.A. This is finally her big break and she doesn’t want to mess it up, her new boss has quite the reputation as being the best and she would love nothing more than to learn everything she can from her. Her admiration for Taylor Andrews develops quickly into a crush which she thinks its all one sided... or is it?

Wow. This book really drew me in, to the point of reading through the night to finish it. This is an exceptional book to begin the new A Seven Shores Romance Series and has certainly set the pace for an exceptional  journey with these new characters.

I really enjoy boss/ employee relationships as a plot in Lesbian Fiction. The protagonists automatically spend more time together and they get to know each other quicker because they are in close quarters and of course the idea of it is extremely sexy. With Taylor and Isabel’s story I felt it was ramped up a bit more because of the undeniable attraction from the beginning. Their attraction never had to grow it just was present from the moment they met. But the friendship to relationship that builds, seeps off the page like you can almost feel their chemistry. Normally it takes me a while to warm up to at least one character but I loved both these women from the moment I began to read about them. I don’t want to give to much away but these two are a dream come true for me and I really hope they will make appearances in the next Seven Shores Romance books.

Some of my favourite sections in this book are the ones with the four friends getting to know one another, Especially the parts with coffee shop owner Autumn. I was extremely excited to see her story is up next for release entitled Hearts Like Hers.

Another fantastic novel by Melissa Brayden. Now stop reading this and go buy it… seriously! Go!

Indisputable 5 stars of excellence. Im intrigued to see what comes next and I'm a little impatient about the waiting. Bring it, Melissa!

Book Club Buddy D. and I were ready for a bit of Melissa Brayden. This new Seven Shores series is off to a promising start and no doubt will be as successful as the Soho Loft series. The author has found her strength and would be stupid not to stay on that path.

The book is your typical light-hearted romance novel. Isabel Chase gets a dream job in Hollywood writing for a very successful show. She catches the eye of her boss, hot shot tv producer Taylor Andrews. And… we’re off.

Brayden does not disappoint. There is great chemistry, there are fantastic friends, there is quirky humor, there is fun dialogue, there are adorable pets, there is a crazy vindictive ex, there is semi explicit sexytimes, there are crippling anxieties, there is a shocking plot twist, there is angst and drama and at the end there is a happy resolution.

It was a good thing I was reading a Kindle and not a paperback, because (and I am not going to spoil things, don’t worry) that little plot twist towards the end made me so angry I wanted to tie a rock to it and hurl it through a window (the book, not the plot twist ;-) .

Eyes Like Those is a safe bet, guaranteed entertainment, well written romance. Good fun!

f/f semi explicit
Themes: Hollywood dream job, new friends, The Cat’s Pajamas sounds like a cool place, it wouldn’t be a Brayden novel if there wasn’t a cute pet in there somewhere, woah! that was some major betrayal there, just for that I am going to deduct 0.6 starzzzz because I had a hard time recovering from that, reading got delayed as I caught a heavy cold that made me unable to read to D. for several days.

So I am disagreeing with a lot of my Goodreads friends here-this was just ok for me. I LOVE Brayden-some of my favorite books are by her-The Soho Loft series, Waiting in the wings. I've reread a couple of those books more than once. But The last couple of her books, while enjoyable, were not to the standard of her older work...IMHO.

I don't mind the "formula". Melissa Brayden seems to have such a vast imagination she has no problem making each book fresh. I loved the friends all living in Seven Shores and I think the sequels will be enjoyable. What I found lacking was the chemistry between the main characters. She put forth a great amount of effort introducing all the cast members, but let the romance fall a little flat.

All in all it's a book by Melissa Brayden. Which puts it above many others right off the bat. But when compared to other Brayden books, falls a little short of the mark.

solid 4 stars

Another great Brayden read. I’m plowing through her work and man it’s been fun.

This one took some time for the plot to move forward. The beginning was not exactly riveting, but Brayden writes so well I found myself not caring. It took no time at all until I was sucked into this beautiful world.

What I love most is how distinct each character is. They each stand out for their own individuality and uniqueness. Even the side characters stand out, which I must say is refreshing.

I’m always a bit skeptical when reading about someone who falls for their boss. It can be difficult to portray that due to all the difficulties they face. Braden knocks this out of the park. The romance was slow moving in the best way. The relationship took time to develop and solidify into something long lasting.

This isn’t my favorite Braden book, however it is very well done. Romance lovers must give this a read.

Lovely
Great chemistry, love the MC, nice dialogue. The way that Brayden describe her characters is always great, I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
Recommended to romance fans.

Do Melissa Brayden's books really need a review? Her books are always good, but when they are part of a series of romances that revolve around a group of friends in an apartment complex - they enter into the 'great' territory.
I"m not going too much into the details of the story. The story starts with Isabelle, an up-and-coming writer on a TV show who suffers from panic attacks. I love the little quips that Izzy made, which are a hallmark of Brayden's work. I wish her anxiety issues were a bit more fleshed out but hey, there are three more books on the way. I fell in love with Taylor, the other MC, who is so totally perfect in all ways. There are so many books with actresses as MCs that it was great that Brayden chose to write about two characters who work behind the scenes on a TV show. I've been infinitely curious about the lives of hotshot TV series producers a la Shonda Rhimes, Ali Adler, Berlanti, etc and have often wondered what they actually do on a TV show set. So I enjoyed exploring Taylor's world in this book. (By the way, can that new series on the FBI agent actually be produced, please?)
I also spent around half the book trying to guess who among the 3 friends would get the next book. The only thing I hate about books in series is the wait for the next. (Not since Harry Potter did I look forward to any book as much as I did Ready or not.) On the plus side, the blurbs for each of the books in the series has been released so we'd know the stories of each of these characters by October next year.
I kept comparing this book to 'Kiss the girl' although they aren't really similar in any way. The only true similarity is in the quirky characters in both books. It would be wonderful if Brayden could write a cross-over featuring the characters from both series.
Bottom line: Anyone who liked the SoHo loft romances would love this book. A warning though - Brayden's books aren't good for your productivity. I read this book in half a day, getting absolutely no work done. I'm waiting now for February and am pretty sure the next book will be completely worth the wait.

Eyes Like Those has a great balance of fun, funny, and sweet alongside the perfect amount of angst and serious issues. I also didn’t foresee the crisis point at all, which is REALLY nice and unusual for a romance. Melissa Brayden is going from strength to strength with each book and I couldn’t be more excited.

I’m a huge fan of romances and Melissa Brayden is one of the best authors in this department. With this book she starts a new series, the Seven Shores series, set in sunny California. And I love series. This author is fantastic in creating not only great characters for the main couple, she’s extremely good in creating whole groups of persons surrounding them.

The series starts with Isabel Chase, who wants nothing more then to write for a film or television company. But she hasn’t get the chance, to do so for a living. As an old friend gets her a job interview in sunny California for the hottest show on television, she jumps right in and she got the job. And then there is Taylor, the successful executive producer of the show. And this show is her baby, she has it created and together with her great staff further developed. After one of her writer has left, she’s looking for another one. And that’s Isabel. She feels drawn to her from the beginning, but she’s a burned child after a disastrous relationship with the star of the series.

Isabel and Taylor are both great people, from the beginning of their working relationship, there was something more, there was chemistry and attraction. They are drawn together neither of them can resist long. But there is the problem, that Taylor is Isabel’s boss, so maybe it’s not the best thing to do, to get involved with each other.

I loved both women from the beginning. Isabel is very spontaneous and sarcastic and talks what’s in her head. And sometimes that brings her in trouble. But she isn’t just a funny person, she has dark sides too, she struggles with panic attacks and insecuritiy issues. Taylor is more laid back and a is a great boss, but has also some trust issues. The romance is sweet and beautiful with some ups and downs.

And I really, really liked Isabel’s new group of friends Autumn, Hadley and Gia. I’m looking forward to their stories. And as a big sports fan, I’m already excited to get to know more about the surfer girl.

I highly recommend this book to all romance fans.

My rating 5 stars.
