The Emperor has spoken and the portals are opening. The Event is larger than anyone anticipated with Emerilia’s people needing to band together to survive. The creatures of nightmares and children’s stories might roam Emerilia, but this isn’t their land it isn’t their home. The Terra Alliance will use everything at their disposal to gain strength and push back the forces that roam Emerilia. The Pantheon moves in the shadows, the forests and across Markolm. Light, Earth and Dark’s forces only grow as they recruit those from The Event into their ranks. Beset on all sides Party Zero prepare for a war not seen since the ancient times of Emerilia. They know that this is only the beginning.
Michael Chatfield is a Canadian Army veteran and international bestselling author who writes the kind of books he always wanted to read—character-driven, gritty, tactical, and grounded in reality.
He doesn’t write one-dimensional killers wrapped in plot armor, charging toward an objective without thought. His stories are built for readers who want earned progression, tight, understandable logic, and realistic strategy. Every stat system has structure. Every decision is deliberate (except when there is Jaeger involved).
And the pacing? It's locked at two hundred percent. From alleyway brawls to starship armadas clashing over galactic sovereignty, from tactical dungeon assaults to city-states warring over a continent’s fate—Chatfield commits to every battle like it’s his last.
With millions of books and audiobooks sold, and tens of thousands of reviews his work spans LitRPG, military sci-fi, fantasy, and post-apocalyptic survival. He writes for readers who value systems that make sense, loyalty that lasts, and power that’s earned, not handed out.
Whether you're listening on a long drive, grinding through a shift, or up past midnight planning the next in-game raid—this is where you’ll find sagas to binge. Where strength is earned, logic rules, and camaraderie is forged in fire.

Loving this series, but man, oh man, is it in serious need of an editor. Choppy sentences, wrong grammar, typos galore and much more. At least there isn't a ton of misspelled words, so there is that. Still, I am definitely reading the last two books. The series is fun, exciting and interesting. If you can put up with the lack of editing, I encourage you to read these books.
First let me say that I've really loved this series so far. I was a bit unsure of the concept at first, but it has come together very well. The characters are awesome and well-constructed. The plot is exciting. The game mechanics are well thought out. But the writing itself is atrocious. It was okay in the first few books but it's gotten steadily worse. The writing is clunky in terms of sentence structure and word choice. That's okay; clunky writing doesn't take me out of the story that much. But this book is also riddled with poor grammar, an unbelievable number of typos, and continuity errors. All of these things are fixable with a good read-through and someone to do a little editing. Perhaps the author needs to set up an ARC group. I hate to be so negative, especially about a book I really liked and an author whose books I've really enjoyed. But I'm actually holding back a lot of criticism in light of those two things. Despite everything that I hated about the writing, I still look forward to the next book. And the plot and characters were great enough that I only took off 1 star from my rating.
The number of typos and minor grammar errors are truely staggering, but this is normal for this series, I just think of it as a russian translation and it all comes clear. The problem is that this is an excellent story, and having it diminish by lousy editing is frustrating as hell. I'd like to sing the praises of these books, but I can't do it. The conclusion I draw from all this is an author who is more interested in turning out the next sequel than one focused on making a great product, and that makes me sad, because each and every book (except number six) could easily be a five star book, but instead I'm forced to offer three star ratings and take up review space pointing out poor grammar instead of ranting about how wonderful the series really is and encouraging everyone to just go read it because of how much they will love the series.
This series is taking quite the nosedive, not that it has become bad but is not as great and original as it started. The author has let seep to mutch Wuxia into his work, it migth have been unnoticed at first but at this point its messing up with the genre of this novels. Right now the preparations to figth the Jukal and all the research are mutch more importatn (or at least well though) that all the figthing in the event, the descriptions of the battles feel to cahotic and spread to form an firm idea of whats going on in the battlefield and stoping any sequence in the middle to jump to another without finishing the previosu one, ruins the inmersion. In resume this work has to manny things crawled in toguether to been enjoyed comfortable.
Another great story, going deeper and a bit darker as the reality of war steps up. The greatness however is flawed by poor editing, easily the worst I've seen in the series. Maybe it was just the rush to get it out, but it seriously needs a thoroughly edited v2.0 copy.
Still, I highly recommend this series for any RPG Lit fans. Awesome scope and story.
It's strange to me that so little effort that Dave and Bob and them apply goes towards saving the lives of the PoE. Dave made 2 sets of armor that he randomly turned into weapons of power just to keep the wonder twins alive, but that's it. They didn't need to be weapons of power so he really should be able to do that for others, too... but only the two dwarves received life saving measures. And that's very, very strange.
Bob made fires daughter a player, but did absolutely nothing to keep his own daughter alive. Again... Very, very strange.
They're prioritizing reviving players but not coming up with an intercept or recovery method for PoE. Despite the fact that there are a ton more PoE than players, and the PoE are by default going to be more inclined to help. Very strange that they'd prioritize a few million primarily nonallies over the entire worlds poe population.
They throw PoEs into the front lines consistently, causing their deaths even when it's pretty clear that they were unnecessary, such as bringing in the various fortifications only to immediately abandon the fortifications to do a full frontal assault against a fortified location rather than bombarding the fortifications into oblivion or delivering the army inside the fortifications or... well, anything except what they actually did - Even just cutting off the reinforcement lines and waiting for them to attack would've been a big improvement over doing a Pikes charge.
Throughout the series I've questioned myself repeatedly on why they used a particular set of tactics when it would ultimately just get a ton of people killed without a recovery method and permanently and significantly decrease their forces. Not to mention they do absolutely nothing to protect strategic assets, like the dragons, and next to nothing for their personal relationships. If Steve hadn't created his own personalized recovery method, he'd be all the way dead. None of his other allies can be buggered to do so: and even with some of the close calls or deaths like dragons there's little effort being expended to prevent deaths, and there's just no effort at all being expended towards bringing them back if they do die, even if they'd have to stay hidden in those handy bio labs afterwards.
It's very bizarre that none of the major characters have put solving this as a top priority.
The author plays around with numbers far too much, yet doesn’t look back at the previous numbers. For instance, in Dave’s stats screen, it first showed his intelligence being around 1700, but then after a notification that he got about 100 added stat points, it dropped down to around 1600, then later climbed back up to 1650 ish. Also, I’m a previous book, he discusses enemy count. He starts out saying there’s only about 2 million demons, while discussing the attacks of the DCA. Then, during the main battle, he describes the deaths of over 2 million. Adding on the earlier numbers, it gets closer to being 3 million. Then, at the end of the battle, he says there’s 600,000 demons left. After they’re defeated, he says that the DCA just defeated an army of over 10 million. For those that can do math, there’s about 6.4 MILLION demons who just appeared and died. To the author; you make great books, but PLEASE just give a numbers summary afterwards, and check back with previous stat screens before writing the new ones!
No spoilers here...I loved this book. Yet again Michael Chatfield has brought the world of Emerilia to life. He once again captures the imagination of his reader by keeping the characters lively, the character interactions were vibrant, and the plot flowing at a grand pace. The hardships and times of joy of the cast of characters is what has really kept me hooked on this series. There were some very pivotal plot points in this book which made the gains that much sweeter, but also the loses that much harder to bear. To me it was a smashing success! I cannot wait for another entry into this series.
The story continues, and remains compelling, pulling you in and begging to be finished. But, unfortunately, typos and grammatical errors were common enough that they took away from the overall flow (e.g. battleship/destroyer word usage mix-up and they/it/him usage with the grand demon lords)
I'm torn because on the one hand, rushed editing means we get the next book that much faster. But on the other, we do not get as polished a product as we have previously.
Irregardless, looking tremendously forward to the next one and finding out what happens, even if it took just a little longer for editing. :)
I enjoy the emerilia saga a lot and I'm glad that the author can write them as fast as he can. However there are so many spelling errors and other similar things that do get distracting (if you need an proof reader feel free to send me an advance copy of the next book ;) ).
Other than that I love the story and the characters are pretty fleshed out. The only complaint I have is that the progression is very slow. As soon as one thing gets checked off the list, five more problems crop up. I like having the series around, but we are 9 books in and the end is no where in sight.
The story and writing are excellent and I like the characters. It's good to see that even as Dave becomes more powerful, he doesn't let it go to his head and he recognizes there are still more powerful people out there. I also appreciate the smooth transitions between viewpoints.
I won't give away any spoilers and will just say that we're continuing to see progress. :)
I also want to note that the narration by Tristan Morris is excellent. It is easy to identify the different characters. And, I appreciate being able to seamlessly switch between reading and listening in the Kindle app.
I picked up the series about two months ago and I have sped through it, it is really good totally worth reading. The battle scenes throughout the series are really good and the ones in this book really make you feel wanted the players a.k.a. the characters are fighting through and I feel the descriptions are on par with some of the best I've ever read. If your looking for a Great RPGLit series I definitely suggest Emerilia!
This was a good addition to the series, although there were numerous issues with typos and some broken sentences. Overall this book is a bit harder to get through than the prior but sets the stage for the next 2 books. Definitely a great book but be prepared for a bit of a slog.
This is so far removed from what it started as to be unrecognizable.
And that is not a good thing. The numerous factions and the build-up has been so overdone and drawn out that there is just no real caring to what is happening. This is a simple case of the details being lost in the story.
You kept the story engaging and fun. You kept the stakes high by actually delivering on some of that threat. Nine books in and this series is still going strong. I can't wait till the next one.
I have to say that I like where the story line is going, though I wish to say that a bit more editing is needed to allow for a seamless read. Spoiler alert: the end makes me look for the next book with longing and trepidation
This is such a great series! I can't wait for the next book to come out. It has a strong overall plot and sticks to it. The writing is very good and doesn't change POV (my pet peeve!) I how the next book comes out soon!
As always a great continuation of the story lines, but unusually high number of editing errors ranging from spelling and grammar, to incomplete sentences.
Great story but... Once again Dave has lost hundreds of stat points and doesn't bat an eye, nor is it mentioned. He should have gained 60. Instead he lost 630....
This series is one of my favorites for it's unique and stylish characters. The plot is well thought out and developed making the book both difficult to predict and fun to read. I just can't stop reading this series!
Though the writing was detailed, and the thoughts complete, the story stretched 100% out of Emerilia. It's completely space and aliens now, and it's not interesting at all. There needs to be some micro, this macro dick rubbing is not having the same effect.
Yep, things are hearing up for our intrepid heroes. Dave is up to even more scheming and building behind the scenes, and they have to deal with some seriously dangerous enemies. Looking forward to seeing what comes next for Party Zero!
As good as the series started, i got bored now... i mean i just ganna buy the next one only if there won't be anything better to read.. sorry to say it, but the series has lost me
These books never fail to delight and entertain, great original all story, fantastic storyline that draws the reader in and never let's go. I'm hooked.
This is Science Fiction wrapped in Fantasy. Great character development. Very enjoyable. Each book has progressively harder problems to be solved. I've read every book of this series.
