Jess Travis has had a rough year. She survived being arrested for the murder of her cheating ex-boyfriend, thanks to her sister, Bets and the Applegate Sisters that’s all in the past. Christmas is here and it’s time for Jess to get a much need break…until she stumbles upon Dean Ferguson’s dead body. Dean inherits all of his father’s fortune and quickly decides to make changes. Threatening to leave his family penniless unless they give in to his demands. Dean becomes the most hated man in town when he announces his decision to close the Mill right before Christmas. Giving everyone in town a motive to kill. If that wasn’t enough Jess’s father hired a new employee behind her back with a secret of his own.
A good read. Not the greatest as somethings weren't addressed but a nice light read for when you don't want to think too hard. Whilst the relationships between our characters have had another facet added to them with the inclusion of Luke (the new assistant) and Marvin (a parrot their father inherited) The death of a friend of their father's opens up another can of worms. The main beneficiary is found murdered after closing the town's main employer and making new adjustments to the terms of the trusts for the rest of his family. Another attempt at murder follows shortly. The sisters find out that the new victim is an illegitimate son and would / should be included in the trust payouts. With the help of the two seniors, the new assistant and the mouthy parrot the two sisters start to dig. Will they get to the truth?
I absolutely loved this book. In fact, I'm in love with the entire series. Bets, Jess, and the Applegate Sisters are lovable and funny. You won't be able to put the book down until you finish the last page. I Highly recommend this book and series.
