Lainey has heard the ghost stories of the beast in the woods, but one night around a campfire she discovers some legends are true.
The Butcher has watched her from a distance, but he’s a man with needs and won’t deny himself any longer.

Have to say, I have not enjoyed the 2 books that Alexa Riley and Jessa Kane have collaborated on.
It is like they have taken the most batshit crazy ideas they have together, and then egged each other on further and ran with it. It is just far too OTT. Even for me. It is not ridiculously fun. It is just ridiculous.
I hate to say this, I'm not a fan of this collaboration. I always say I love Alexa Riley books but when teamed up with Jessa Kane, it felt off. Something about their team up isn't working for me. The only things I liked in this book were the H and some parts of the epilogues.
The story is about Carver and Lainey.
She's the new camp counselor who has been on the run for the past two years. It's her first week at the camp and she's enjoying it.
He's been watching her from a distance until he saw someone hitting on her. He took her and wanted to keep her to himself.
I liked Carver but not Lainey. There were parts in the book that I liked her but mostly, I didn't.
Oh wow... This was such a downgrade quality from Alexa Riley. With Jessa Kane? Eh, not so much. Her books always ended up so-so for me. I thought Summer Camp Captive will be another Virgin Trailer Park (that I loved very much).
At first, it was promising. A bit creepy in okay way... But the virgin stuff really annoyed me. The plot really prolong my inner suffering with this couple. A caveman and runaway girl. The sexy times isn't sexy at all. I didn't get the heat from their chemistry. And the ending has wayyy too much baby.
I usually don't like two author collaborations for stories. It usually has the tale feeling disjointed to a point where the story feels like you're literally reading two different books. But I took a chance on this one because my girl Jessa Kane is also on this ticket.. I can still tell who wrote what here, so this pairing was not a seamless synergy. But, it was still a good book and I fell in love with Carver. I liked he and Lainey's journey and what ultimately becomes of these two. Their HEA is a good one.
Now what kept this from being a 5 star read for me is the lack of climactic energy that I was hoping for where Lainey's past was concerned. Since it was brought up more than once and was the reason for why she was sort of living the way she was, I felt that when her past and present collided that its closing should have been more impactful. Honestly, Way more... And I would have loved to see what Carver did to those camper dudes during their fight. Clearly they didn't stand a chance against Carver, but it would have been nice to see them getting their a&& beat instead of just the aftermath.
So these were my only gripes with this one.
As usual the coupling was hot and very deliciously explicit. Just the way mama likes it. ;')
This one has 14 chapters and 4 epilogues.. At the time of this review this book was currently available on Smashwords- (https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...) for $2.99.
Would I recommend?=Yes Spice?= 5 Plot/Plight?=4 MCs?=Yin & Yang Ending/Epilogue(s)?=5
Lainey (18-yo, virgin) ran away and is in hiding after her mom sold her to a pimp. She’s working as a camp counselor when she captures the attention of the Butcher who lives in the woods. Except he’s not a butcher, he’s Carver (giant, obsessed, veteran, scarred, kidnapper). The second he spotted Lainey, he knew he had to have her or he’d go mad. So he waltzes into camp one night and scoops her off to take her back to his lair cabin. Things get down and dirty pretty quickly. He really is the size of King Kong or Bigfoot. 8 feet tall, 400 lbs, and his cock is a basically a tree trunk. He’s also completely devoted to her happiness. Lainey fights him at first, but finally gives in and enjoys the ride. HA!! See what I did there!!
Anyway, I loved his insanity and controlling ways. I especially love a man with scars on his body. I loved ALL of the sex. It is a little long, but it also means more sex. Only thing that could have made it better was if he were Russian.
You know that Bugs Bunny cartoon where the giant white alien monster grabs tiny Bugs Bunny and says, “I’ll love you, and squeeze you, and call you George.” So that’s Carver, except sexy…. And meaner….
Summer Camp Captive was a really exciting Hot story about instant love and lust. Carver ever fell in love instantly when he Saw Lainey and had to have her. Lainey was startled by Carver’s appearance but felt drawn to him. This story is a instant love alpha male with a young woman. I received this book in exchange for an honest review

I will love you and protect you until the end of time. You’re my girl, my obsession, my princess. I love you in a way they haven’t invented yet.”
Oh lord, this was so OTT and entertaining! Just like Back River Quiver we a have a guy who lives in the woods and finds a woman who they think is their one and only. Even though it was over the top, I still enjoyed it. We all know that I am swoony mess, so even though it was unconventional, I loved Carver’s love for Lainey.
A quick fun smutty read. If you are looking for an over-the-top crazy possessive Alpha h, totally obsessed by his woman, this one is for you! For me? It's boring. And this is not AR best. There are more better books than this.
Hot hot little story that had some dubcon in it. There was also a lot of rollplay/ageplay that seemed very daddy/daughter to me so if you’re not into that beware. All in all I enjoyed it.
Lainey ama su trabajo en el campamento de verano, es la única cosa que puede controlar después de que no ha podido controlar nada en su vida. Entonces aparece Carver, el enorme hombre dañado la quiere para él pero ella necesita libertad... No?
Ay bueno el otro libro de estas dos fue más siniestro pero este fue dulce. El pobre Carver que tenía cicatrices del ejército y le daba miedo a la gente cuando es un héroe dulce. Me ha encantado ❤️
Warning: Daddy kink, not too much but there is definitely some. Apparently my screening process wasn't as good as I thought...
The reason it's rated this low is because the whole thing kinda made me a little uncomfortable and by the middle I just wanted it to end. That feeling isn't associated with amazing books.
Have you ever wanted Friday the 13th to be a spicy romance? Yeah. That’s the vibe 🤣 And I ate up every second of it. We pretty quickly learn that the Butcher actually has a heart of gold and is just massive and scarred and very taken with the FMC. Absolutely worth a read if you’re a Jessa Kane fan. 4.5⭐️
They call him The Butcher and he's the story they tell the campers by firelight to scare them. It's all in good fun and Lainey plays her part. The thing no one knows is that he does exist, though the stories are wrong. Ironically, his name is Carver though. LOL
Carver has watched Lainey, waiting for his chance. He knows there's something about her, but he's kept his space, until now... Seeing another man hit on her propels him to take action. He knows literally kidnapping her isn't the best way to show she belongs to him, or is it?
Lainey has been running for two years and needs this job as a camp counselor to help pay her way. But the huge man taking her from the camp though is intent on providing everything she needs and not letting her go.
Carver knows his way of life isn't for everyone and prefers it that way. He likes the solitude and not having to answer for his choices, but Lainey is the opposite. While she quickly falls for him and vice versa, she wants more than a cabin in the woods.
Can Carver give her what she needs? Can he live amongst others again for her? What happens when Lainey's past catches up with her? Can Carver protect her? Is a HEA possible?

Wow this was really awful. So Jessa Kane has branded herself as the taboo smut author while alexa riley has branded herself as the wholesome one. Put them together and it is NOT a good combination. It was like their writing was fighting for dominance and neither was getting any footing. The dialogue made zero sense to me, the characters made even less sense. This is supposed to be unrealistic smut but we still have this numskull heroine who "wants her freedom and doesn't want to be ruled by a man." *clears throat* I did not decide to read this book to hear about the heroines woe-is-me backstory and her flaky feministic ideals. I came for the smut.
I feel like a disappointed parent after reading this. "I expected better from you two. I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed."
“You will never be injured,” I shout at her. “You will never die,”
Babe 😭💀
I think I'm in a constant state of idk, denial whenever I read anything by AR or JK. This one truly made me take a step back and think about what I've done with my life so far 💀. No more Novellas for me for a while, I'm getting wayyyy too comfy 😭.
On a side note, can we talk about the fact that this dude was 8 FEET TALL. Ma'am 🧍♀️. And the way we didn't even get a second to process it- For y'all to visualize 🥰: Sir that is a child 🧍♀️- not even up to the chest hhfbusfs 😭🔫. I'm scared.
I'm sorry. Reading this, all I can imagine were Frankenstein and Thumbelina. Urgh, kind of destroyed my childhood memory.
Anyway, we're talking about a girl who was on the run from the pimp that was chasing her. And then, she met this giant-man and got attached. It was okay if not for the numerous time she told us how she appreciated her freedom.
If you tore the story apart; the story-line and the smut, the smut was much better because the story-line doesn't make sense. I almost shelve this as fantasy.
Something about this book just didn't work for me. I think it would've been nice at the end if his friends from the military showed up and given him some closure. She said their horrified looks were because they felt ghukty for leaving him behind instead of how he looked and it would've been nice to see that resolved for him
I was in the mood to read something the other day while sitting out in the sun on a porch swing, and as I scrolled through my iPad, I came across Summer Camp Captive which I have had since it's release date. This was one I had been looking forward to when it was released, so I dug in. I have to admit it had a good premise but I became a little disappointed with the story. Yes, it still turns you on as it is an Alexa Riley book. However, with a title like that, you expected a bit more emphasis on the "captive" side of things. Lainey is a camp counselor and someone who has lived a rough life. There are rumors of a "beast-like" serial killer called The Butcher who lives in the woods. It turns out there is a guy who lives in a cabin in the woods, and he is big. He is an ex-military and wants Lainey to fulfill his needs. Lainey and the "Beast" start a forbidden romance which later turns into misunderstandings as others think he is holding her hostage. The ending of this book, I did love as both of them finally got their HEA or did they as the past Lainey is running from catches up with them both.
Damn! This was one dirty story with a taste of forbidden. I'm struggling to write anything more, because my mind is still melted from all that hotness. Damn! Carver is one giant hunk. Yeah, let your mind go to the gutter. It's were it should be. ;) He's sweet and possessive. Raw and tame. Crave can be everything his princess needs him to be. Did I mentioned he's hunk? I did? Well, it's worth to repeat myself. Our h being kidnapped... I thing this is one of those moments, when bad thing is actually a fantastic thing. Lainey got lucky in more then one way. Go, girl! Ride that giant... Um... Yup. My mind gone into the gutter. Bye bye my reasoning. I'm so freakn hoping for these authors to put theirs filthy minds toghter again and to give us more.
Hmm... This book didn't click for me. I hadn't expected that because I loved their first co-written book so much. But this time, something felt off. For example, the hero's height. He was 8 feet tall, for fuck's sake! There's no way he wouldn't have had some health issues... I get where the ladies were coming from—who wouldn't like the love story of petite little girl and a big bad wolf, right? But this was just too much. Even if I pretended there were no further reminders of his heights in the story, I'm not sure I would have loved the story. Yes, the sex scenes were hot and innovative but the rest of the story felt a little bit slapdash.
Summer Camp Captive by Alexa Riley and Jessa Kane is a smutty story about an 18-year old camp counselor, Lainey, and a giant who lives in the forrest, Carver. He’s been watching her for weeks and has determined she must be his. One night he takes her captive and although she tries to run away, eventually she does the exact opposite. She isn’t afraid of his ugly appearance and he is much gentler than Lainey originally thought. At barely 100 pages, Summer Camp Captive is a short read, completely unrealistic, providing nothing but smutty entertainment. I got this story in a 5 pack bundle from this author duo with kindle unlimited. I wouldn’t have paid for this story but it was worth half an hour of my time. 2/5 stars.
Leal, fiel, protector, amoroso.
