From one not personally connected with Kris Vallotton and Bill Johnson or their ministry, here is a very positive review. I approach everything I read with a critical mind, and I came away from this book having been convinced of many things by Vallotton. The "Prince and Pauper Test" in the back of the book is worth the purchase price itself. In fact, that test was how I was first introduced to the book. A relative got the family all to sit down and take it together, and as we went through all eighty questions, skeptical me said, "This guy is spot on--at least 79 out of the 80." :) So I resolved to read the book.

The Supernatural Ways of Royalty probes the mindset of the Christian to see how it lines up with our scriptural identity as a child of God. While not every interpretation of every scripture passage quoted is indubitable or beyond countervailing, I found little with which to take definite issue and much to wholeheartedly endorse. (It may be helpful for some to know I do not come from a charismatic background.)

The text reads easily but also intellectually. It is permeated with anecdotes but not surfeited with them. In all respects, except the lack of many spaces between sentences which I assume to be the fault of the publisher, this book receives my hearty approval.

Hmmm... hard to know what to do with this. Almost everything that's said in this book is true, but not for the reason the author (Kris, not Bill) says. The stories are great, as are the examples and application, but the Biblical interpretation is pretty questionable. Thankfully, most of what Kris says in this book has already been said, only Scripturally, by Richard Pratt in his EXCELLENT book "Designed for Dignity". So, I guess my summary would be, that if you're looking for truth, there's plenty to be found here, but use discernment to not pick up any of the back interpretive practices of the author...otherwise you'll find yourself able to make any verse in the Bible mean just about anything you want it to say.

Take the test in the back before and then after you read the book. I saw huge growth and healing in my relationship with the Lord and my expectations and understanding of God. I HIGHLY recommend this book. I loved it and found it easy to read and understand.

Recognition of position is a powerful thing. It is when one truly understands the rights and privileges that they have based on their position that they can fully and effectively operate in them. How effective would a policeman be if he did not know the rights and privileges that he had because he was an officer of the law? Would he truly be fulfilling his duty as he served if he did not know of the areas that he had special privileges to operate in. This concept applies spiritually as well. As sons and daughters of God we have privileges and rights that we should recognize that we walk in so that in turn, we can be effective and walk in the supernatural. This process as well as the rights and privileges are expressed in the book The Supernatural Ways of Royalty by Kris Vallotton and Bill Johnson. It is expressed that the goal of this book is share the revelation that the Lord has given to the author that others may also walk in this way.

There are three parts to this book. Part 1 is "Our Royal Call". Part 2 is "Introducing the Attributes of Royalty" and Part 3 is "Introducing the Authority and Responsibility of Royalty." Everything begins with the recognition of position. As expressed in Part 1 - we are called to drop the pauper mindset and to take up one of royalty. This means examining yourself and finding the places that are in your life where you do not take the authority that you have been given to and following that, learn how to walk in that authority properly, finishing with what your responsibility is. This book inspires you to put down your pauper mentality and to pick up your crown and begin walking in the position that you hold.

The Supernatural Ways of Royalty challenged my spiritual walk and even just the way that I carry myself. There is a difference between having the knowledge of the authority that you have and truly understanding what having that authority means and walking in it. In reading this book you learn the differences between reacting to the past or responding to the vision.

Luke 12:48 very well sums up where we stand: "To whom much is given from him much will be required." (NKVJ) We have the authority and position to walk in such a way that our positions will be recognized. Royalty carries themselves differently. There is an assurance and a confidence in how they walk and in the things that they do because they know who they are and they know what their position entails. With this knowledge of position, you have a responsibility to live in such a way that reflects this crown that you wear. That crown no only represents your position, but it also shows you as a representation of the King and His Kingdom. You have a responsibility to the crown.

This book caused me examine myself and to see the areas in my life where I had not taken authority of that I had every right to. It also increased my understanding of just what rights that I do have and gave me the recognition of the responsibility that I have to walk in those rights and privileges and authority. The revelation revealed in this book brought me to a higher level of recognition of my position as a daughter of Christ and opened doors for me to walk in the supernatural.

Overall, this book is okay. Two stars feels a bit too harsh, but three stars feel a bit too generous. A lot of the book seems to be founded on a loose and surface-level understanding of the Scriptures. Don’t get me wrong - it has its redeeming qualities and some instances of solid biblical application - but there are several assertions that I certainly disagree with. This is not to say that the book is heretical in any way, because it isn’t. Rather, there are a number theological discrepancies between the author’s and my own beliefs that I would consider to be secondary in nature. Call me a skeptic (or maybe just a cessationist), but many of the stories told throughout the book didn’t ring home for me.

I really enjoyed adding to my foundation of my identity as a daughter of God. About ⅓ of the book was a reminder of things I’ve learned over the past 9 years (more belief that i am a daughter of god and what that means) and the other ⅔ were more of what to do with that truth - how to live it out. There are a few examples in there that could potentially be triggering depending on your past experiences or trauma, but overall, the meat of the book is very good and true and challenging.

Excelente libro!

This book really helped me to change my view on myself in relation to God. It highlights the differences between a "pauper" mentality and a "royal" mentality, and thinking through those two states of mind helped my relationship with God to become bolder, more trusting, and more like an actual relationship. This book is written by a charismatic pastor, and there's nothing wrong with that- there's a lot of truth here. But I was still a little wary of it (not sure what to think about all charismatic theology just yet). That being said, this book is not gimmick-y, like the back cover makes it sound. It's pretty darn solid and full of truth about who God is and who we are.

This book was given me to read by a friend. I liked some of the points the authors made, but there was a lot of loose Scripture interpretation and some assertions that seemed at odds with the upside down Kingdom that Jesus proclaimed. I'm glad I read it but would only recommend it to some.

It should be noted that I am biased toward these authors because of a previous experience at their church. I bless what they do, but don't consider myself to be on the same page, necessarily.

Wow! A masterpiece on identity, revival and what it really means to be a follower of Christ. A powerful vision for what it looks like for sons and daughters to take their place -- receiving and overflowing God's love in a way that changes the world around them. A weighty book with a LOT to say.

One of the most highlighted and underlined reads of my life.
This book is on fire. I wish everybody would read it.

I identified and was more drawn to the first half of the book, but the full thing was still powerful and true and helpful.

Kris Vallotton reminds us that 'We respond to our environment according to the way we see ourselves.'

In this book he navigates the reader through the lies we may have believed about ourselves including understanding of our own strengths presented as pride; shame as the counterfeit of humility etc. He urges the reader to abandon persistent defensiveness and take up the real identity and mantle God has given to His children.

I loved the reference to the David and Goliath story referenced in 1 Samuel 17:22 in which David leaves his baggage with the keeper of supplies before heading onto the field to meet the giant. Most of us carry baggage into our lives; encumbrances of which we need to divest ourselves to engage fully in who God has called us to be and in the spheres where He has placed us.

Understanding our true spiritual identity takes us from paupers to princes(ses). A good read with some helpful illustrations and stories along the way. If you still see yourself as a pauper/slave by the end, it's probably worth reading again and have a Bible handy to check out the references.

Highly enlighting. Kris is an amazing writer and speaker. To imagine that he only had a thrid grade education would shock you. This will change the way you see yourself. You are royalty if you belong to God. The amazing part is, we all do, the problem is that many don't know it or they don't believe in Him. Sad but true state that the world is in.

This book is underlined, highlighted, and written all over. I think everyone needs to reads this - even if you don't agree with all of the theology it makes perfect sense. Our church could be transformed if everyone acted on the idea that we are to call out greatness in others.

This book was... ok.

An elementary overview of identity in Christ.
Some thought-provoking quotes and challenging principles; though often reductionistic.
And some horrendous handling of Scripture.

Favourite quote:
"God wants to so renew our minds that He can do our will." (p85)

This book taught me SO many things, and I’ve found that that’s hard for a book to do nowadays, because, especially Christian books, tend to state the same known things over and over. The author’s testimony, his daily walk with the Lord, his ministry at Bethel church, all demonstrate God’s POWER and how we are meant to walk with authority on Earth as daughters and sons of the most High. I love how he rephrased the question “why does God allow evil and suffering” with “why do the saints (God’s people) allow it? There’s so much more we could do as believers if we really walked with the unity of the Holy Spirit. This book has challenged me to do and be more, to have an eternal mindset about every difficulty in life. To spread Christ’s love rather than judgment to new believers, but to disciple people after conversion rather than leave them as orphans. This book goes into prophecy, healing, and true manhood and womanhood in the kingdom of God. It goes into the authority we have over the devil, whether that be over theives at gun point, or demons manifested. This book was truly inspiring, especially how the author recalls his conversations with God as a very normal thing, rather than a mysterious idea. I want the same closeness to God as he does, and that requires stepping out in faith. I pray for the childlike faith and servanthood that this man has.

There are so many great things in this book. Personal stories are used to illustrate Biblical truths and principles to really drive the point home. Every now and then I would find something I don't agree with, or have a different understanding of, but for the most part, I felt as though the authors were on the same wave length I am on. And now and then, they would bring to light something I hadn't known, or at least add a new dimension to it.

I found the discourse on revivals especially interesting, with the concept of fatherless revivalists. It was interesting as well to hear about some of the great revivalists of the past and where their descendants have gone!

They take a no nonsense approach to Biblical principles and speak out against the gradual acceptance of sin, instead of doing as Jesus did, loving the person but hating the sin. The church has been weakened by trying to change to meet people where they are instead of bringing them up to where God is. We cannot do the works of Christ if we are trying to fit in with the world. We are called to be apart.

These ministers boldly serve the LORD, with signs and wonders following. An interesting and enlightening read I highly recommend.

Such an incredible book. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for more in their journey with God. Not really for a newbie, though I guess maybe if you have Biblical teaching or are simply very hungry for God's vision of you. It is just that Vallotton references things you might not understand without previous Biblical teaching.
But, this is such a good, essential book for realizing who we are in Christ. We are not just poor, broken souls wandering the earth trying to navigate the horrible things here. We are royalty! Royalty of the King of Kings! That should make you see your life in a whole different way! And know that the destiny He mapped out for you is so important!

A Life-changing Book

I truly enjoyed this book so much. This book really breaks down every aspect of our spiritual life from salvation, forgiveness, edification to name a few. I really had to digest, meditate, and evaluate my heart wholeheartedly. With these authors experience as well as others, they penetrated the heart through the Living Word of God causing some incisions to take root like never before. These authors stated that we are to rise up from a stagnant lifestyle. We either are a pauper or a prince/princess. Be Bless and get this book. I have several books by Bill Johnson. I will be looking at some books by Kris Vallotton.

This book by Bill Johnson and Kris Vallotton is amazingly chock full of insight for the believer to grasp and wrestle with. As a firm believer that we have been called to a place of greater authority in Christ Jesus, the authors seek to show the readers that they have been given all that is necessary to declare and decree God's Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. I believe that you will find that this book will strengthen, encourage, and equip you for what God has called you for in this season.

This is a great book to help gauge the transformation process in your thinking. The topic of the book is about moving from being spiritual paupers to recognizing our new royal positions as princes and princesses with God as our father. There is definitely a mindset difference between each. The test at the end of the book is helpful in giving a clearer measurement of where you are at the journey. Personally, I found that though I no longer consider myself a pauper, I still have areas to grow in stepping into my royal identity.

The Supernatural Ways of Royalty encouraged me to submit my thoughts to God (allowing Him to define my identity and worldview), live fully for Him and His purposes (allowing Him to look out for my own needs), and fight the forces of darkness so that all people may live in His Kingdom too. And it convicted me of ways in which I am not doing these.

I can’t agree with all of the authors’ use of Scripture, nor all of their applications, but overall I enjoyed the book and found it helpful and thought-provoking.

This book started out so awesome for me and confirmed a belief I have about confidence and esteem--it's given based on our value as a creation of God. The authors provide some solid and important views about esteem more people need to secure. But, the authors move into some things I don't fully embrace regarding the gifts of the Spirit in this current dispensation. I know there are a variety of views about that. I am thankful for their ministry and the lives they have changed and impacted. I recommend the book. Use discernment.
