I'm Layna Moretti, Attorney at Law. I cut my teeth in the courtrooms of New York City and I can run ten blocks in my high-heeled shoes. That's why it feels like a sick joke to be stuck out here in Lake Chamberlain, Alaska - a nine hour drive from Anchorage and literally the opposite environment to the one I thrive best in.

I was supposed to be up here reviewing the paperwork for a huge new oil pipeline cutting all the way across the state - but instead, I discovered a coverup. The foreman of the oil pipeline is cutting corners left and right, and when I threatened to expose the environmental danger the pipeline poses, he tried to kill me.

Now I'm on the run from the foreman and his men - stuck hundreds of miles from civilization with nobody to turn to except the one man in town who claims he can get me out of here Local bush pilot Trapper Harris.

Trapper's tall, handsome, and intense. Within hours of knowing him, I came to trust this man with my life. He's the first man who's ever made me feel this safe before - and those aren't the only feelings he's awoken inside me.

But after our plane crashes in the Alaskan mountains, I realize even Trapper might not be able to protect me from the one thing more dangerous than the men I'm running The harsh, unforgiving environment of Alaska itself.

We wanted a chance to get to know each other better. Now we've got it - because it's only by relying on each other that we'll stand any chance of survival!

Trapper is a fast-paced, stand-alone romantic adventure set in the same fictional universe as the Knuckleheads MC series. If you love protective heroes, sassy heroines, and red-hot romance set against the backdrop of the great American wilderness, you'll instantly be hooked.

Blurb:
Layna
I'm a big city girl - and so the last place I wanted to end up was the middle-of-nowhere Alaska.

That's why, when my oil company bosses sent me to the one-horse town of Lake Chamberlain, I didn't think things could get much worse.

But I was wrong.

Now I'm on the run, being hunted by a madman, and I'm in no condition to weather the great outdoors.

Fortunately, I ran into him.

Trapper Harris.

An infuriatingly gorgeous bush pilot who's got his own reason for being out in the middle of nowhere.

We've been shot at, sabotaged, and hunted - but together, we might have a shot of surviving this...

...if he and I don't kill each other first.

Trapper
I came to Lake Chamberlain to find out what happened to my two best friends.

Now I might share their fate.

Because Layna Moretti, a beautiful lawyer from New York, has stumbled onto something big - and a murderous oil executive and his goons are trying to kill her over it.

After surviving a plane crash, bear attack and the rigors of the Alaskan wildlands, I might be Layna's only chance to make it out of this alive...

...but the more time I spend with this sassy, sarcastic New Yorker?

The more I wonder if she's the only thing I've found worth living for.

I really enjoyed this story. Layna and Trapper were both likable characters and their story was very good, with enough action and suspense to keep me well engaged throughout. This is the first story I've read by this author and I liked it well enough that I will probably read more of her work in the future.

Layna is a lawyer that works in the New York office of a big oil company. She has a nice apartment and wears a lot of high heels and doesn't do camping. Layna isn't too thrilled when she's told that she has to go to Alaska to review and sign off on some safety paperwork but she isn't given much choice so she packs up and goes.

Trapper is a pilot that flies a small prop plane in Alaska. Trapper has a job flying the mail in weekly but he keeps to himself outside of that, spending his free time and gas on flying around the wilderness. Trapper doesn't want the locals to know that he's there looking for clues on 2 friends that disappeared and that's his only focus.

Layna's trip starts out alright, with the local foreman showing her the "sights" of Alaska, but things get sketchy when she insists on actually doing her job. She quickly realizes that the pipeline the foreman is in charge of constructing is no where near the safety standards it was supposed to be at and would leak like a sieve as soon as it was turned on. Layna's refusal to sign off promoted the local foreman and his flunky to decide she needed to die as they'd lose out on a lot of money as well as get in trouble if they were found out.

Layna is on the run as stumbles upon Trapper's cabin. She offers him around $2k for a flight back to Anchorage and he agrees but the foreman is close behind her. Trapper does hide her temporarily and although he's unsure of the circumstances, he sets off to take her to Anchorage. Unfortunately, the foreman isn't willing to take the chance on letting Layna report to her bosses and knowing Trapper is the only ride out of town, they're both targeted. Layna and Trapper find themselves on the wrong end of multiple murder attempts and escape narrowly a few different times. During their attempts at escape and keeping alive, Layna and Trapper find a lot to respect in each other and quickly become close. Things bloom between them and once they're safe, Layna and Trapper decide to stay together so they can work on a HEA.

This was a really enjoyable story. Layna was sassy but vulnerable in a nicely balanced way and I liked her. She had the bravery (and sometimes stupidity) to do what was needed and enough luck and gumption to pull it through. Trapper was a good hero. He got the wrong impression of Layna at first but once he got past that, I thought he made a really likable MC. The story was very good, pretty quick moving and a lot of suspense that kept me reading once I got started. I really liked it and would recommend this story. :)

This was pretty enjoyable. Although there was insta-romance. But I guess when you're thrown into a dangerous situation and you bond with someone that'll make you feel all lovey dovey. Sometimes the story got a little unbelievable, but it's only fiction so I took it with a grain of salt. Everyone got their just desserts.

Trapped in the Wild

First of all, I love the idea of a wilderness romance, and this one caught my interest. I like how Trapper and Layna meet; loving the idea of FMC being in danger from shady oil men/pipeline workers in the wilds of Alaska, and an investigation into the disappearance of the MMC's friends that somehow have a connection with those same shady oil men/pipeline workers.

The story had so much potential, but it actually became bogged down with serious grammatical errors and tedious repetition. I'm trying to understand how an editor and proofreader missed such vital mistakes. For example, one of Trapper's missing friends: her name is Carrie, then Cassie, then back to Carrie, then Cassie?! Not to mention missing words, incorrect verb/word usage, etc.

I also didn't mind the alternating first-person POV, but the repetition of the same convo/action was a bit overkill as it didn't really add anything different to the story.

Trapper and Layna start off as interesting characters, but by the end I was a little annoyed with them both. Trapper almost comes off as weak in some instances, and Layna was a pain in the neck sometimes. I really wanted Trapper to get more in touch with his alpha side in dealing with the shady villain. And Layna...sometimes I just wanted to tune her out.

Not a bad story at all, but I would love to read it again after its been edited and proofread, disavowed of the repetitions, and possibly a few minor adjustments with the main characters.

Cody "Trapper" Harris is an ex-Coast Guard and on a mission in Lake Chamberlain, Alaska searching for his best friends that had been missing for a couple of years. He took his friend previous job as a pilot delivering mail twice a week to the OilMerica pipeline workers. Layna Moretti is an environmental attorney for the OilMericacorp based on New York but was given the assignment to take paperwork to Alaska for inspection. She refuses to sign off on unsafe protocols and was threaten by the supervisor, Randy Somerset and his goons. Layna escapes to Trapper for assistance leading the trouble to his doorstep. Can Trapper save Layna? Will Layna stop the construction work on the pipeline? Will Trapper find out what happened to his best friends? This story is action packed and filled with deception, conspiracy, many captivating twists and turns. There's so much more to this amazing story that I'm unwilling to reveal but it's definitely a must read. I have read the MMA series by this author but this one is awesome.

Charter pilot meets lawyer.

Charter pilot, Trapper Harris, has his world turned upside down when environmental lawyer, Layna Moretti, crashes through his remote cabins door insisting she's being hunted to be killed.
OilMercia employee, Layna, is sent to the Alaskan wilderness to file paperwork for an ongoing oil pipeline, but soon realises through shortcuts and low costs, had the potential to poison the land. Aiming to report her findings and cease work she's targeted for her silence.
All in all the actual plot was good, although it did get a bit ott as the story continued.
Layna's character was brilliant. A city girl through and through but strong, confident, stubborn and independent with a great sense of humor. On the other hand, Trapper, was...boring, slow and stupid.
There's a few sex scenes, which, through all the action and adrenaline they burned off, didn't seem too quick. Their feelings towards each other however...were.
It's written in a dual pov, clearly marked at the beginning of each chapter. Could've done with a good editing and a personality change for the leading male, but an ok read and found it free.

I loved this book! Action, adventure, suspense and a blooming romance throughout. Honestly, there was never a dull moment in the book. It also takes place in the Alaskan wilderness which is a huge plus for me. Anything dealing with Alaska and the outdoors with a rugged man is a huge turn on for me. I don't know why but I love it!

Trapper is very protective. Making sure he does what is right in most situations. He is also on the lookout to solve a mystery too.
Layna is strong but quirky. She has her highs and lows but means well. She also is trying to do the right thing which could take her life away.

Only negative with the book is a few word errors. Like when autocorrect changes a word to whatever it likes. It wasn't bad but there were several spots throughout. It's not a total turn off for me because I have errors too but some words were kind of random.

This book... I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I got angry. You definitely feel everything with this story! Trapper just wants to do his work, find out what happened to his friends, and be left alone. Layna is told to fly up to Alaska to check on some business for the company she works for and things take a turn for the worst. She ends up in Trapper's cabin and their love story takes off from here. It was rather bumpy at first. Add in Randy and Walter, some illegal activity, bears, fake Indians, roughing it in the Alaskan wilderness, and you have a great romance novel. It has action, suspense, characters that make you want to take the gun and shoot them, hot moments, sad moments, and a couple of times where you will laugh your butt off as Layna saves Trapper. I laughed so hard I was crying. I enjoyed this book so much. I could not put it down and I know you will enjoy it too! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest opinions.

Simone Scarletr is one of my favourite author, so I was eager to put my hands on the story of Layna and Trapper! It worth the wait! It was such a great story.

Layna is the best heroine I’ve recently read about, and the twists in the plot made this book a real adventure. I was very curious to see how their story will end, how the characters will grown during it. I loved them! It was great to see that they are layered characters with many feelings, which sometimes got them in trouble. I love how Simone Scarlet writes, her sense of humor, her characters, her beutiful lines which are full of methapors, which help the reader get sucked into the book. I recommend this book!

Trapper is a pilot in the Alaskan wilderness, minding his business...in his cabin...when a woman bursts through the front dooe claiming that someone was after her. Sure enough, the guy in charge of building the oil pipeline through the small town, comes in shortly after, looking for a 'crazy' woman from their NY office.
Trapper had doubts about both stories but decided to help Layna...for the cash. So begun a tale of bad guys, environmentalists, a grizzly bear, a sassy, diabetic city girl and a loner pilot on his own quest for truth. Lots of action and some romance. Engaging story, if at times feels a bit disjointed. Guaranteed HEA.

This is such a cute story, dangerous yes but it makes you feel good too. A man named Randy who is in charge of the pipeline is trying to kill Layna because she knows that the documents are being forged and she can prove it. When she runs to Trappers cabin to convince him to take her out of there he has to hid her and when Randy tells him she is on drugs and crazy he almost believes him but something about this sassy girl calls to him. You will be entertained by the things that happen to them both and really enjoy the lawyer from New York.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

WOW Loved this book. What a great romantic suspense. Kept me turning the page to see what was going to happen next. Kept me up way too late reading to finish it because I really wanted to see how it ended. There were a few funny points as they were on the run that made me laugh out loud but the attraction between them quickly grew.
Will Trapper and Layna make it out of the wilderness alive and be able to turn Randy in for all the wrongs he is/has done or will Randy kill them both like he had planned? Will they give in to the attraction while on the run or are they able to fight it?

Trapper and Layna are trying to escape the wilderness so that she can get back home and set free the secrets for the company she works for. She also is trying to escape death from the head of operations at this site. He is determined to kill her to keep things moving along. They have accident after accident and during this time, they develop strong feelings for each other. He falls even harder for her when she fights a bear to keep him safe. I loved that part the best. They escape with their lives, but just barely. I loved this insta-love of this story and how the characters interacted with each other. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Good book about an unlikely romance between two strangers. Trapper is a rugged Alaskan Bush pilot who ending up in Lake Chamberlain trying to find out what happened to his best friend that disappeared over two years ago. Layna is a feisty "model type" lawyer from New York who was sent to check out the Alaskan Pipe line for her bosses. They are forced together as they try to stay alive and get the secret back to civilization about the environmental mistakes that are happening with the construction of the line. Good but unexpected storyline that will keep you on the edge of your sear until the end.

A romantic adventure set in the wilds of Alaska. Layna, a sassy New York lawyer has found herself in a dangerous position and is being hunted by assassins. She stumbled onto some evidence against an oil baron and his goons are trying to kill her. She's already survived bears, a plane crash and being in the wilderness when she runs into Trapper. He is in the area trying to find out what happened to his friends. Lots of danger, suspense and action. Throw in an oil pipeline and some conspiracy and this story just gets better an better. Lots of sexual chemistry and attraction. I voluntarily chose to review this book after reading an advance copy.

A very good read. Fast paced, with lots of action and drama. First time reading a Simone Scarlet book, but it won’t be the last.
Layna is an environmental lawyer, and her life is in danger due to safety concerns on a pipeline in Alaska. Trapper is a bush pilot working for the company that is building the pipeline.
Trapper is working hard to save Layna from Randy Somerset, the foreman of the OilMerica Pipeline project.
Randy is hell-bent on finding Layna so he can silence her.
Definitely a page turner.. From start to finish.

I voluntarily reviewed and ARC of this book for an honest review. Wow! I just loved this book. It caught me up in the story right away. Then I couldn't put it down. Layla, wildly beautiful, sassy diabetic, from New York. Trapper, a pilot for the Alaskan pipeline. She finds Trapper and tells him this incredible story of how the manager of the pipe line is trying to kill her. At frist he doesn't believe her, then things just don't add up. They take off on the running with the manager always one step behind them. Lots of adventure in this story. A must read.

This novel is pure action from the beginning. I absolutely loved the drama, the bantering between the two main characters (Trapper and Layna). But my favorite parts are when they square off with a Momma Bear and her three cubs. I couldn’t stop laughing at Layna! I love her!!!

This novel is perfection in my opinion. Simone Scarlet did an amazing job with the knowledge of Alaskan terrain, flying, weapons and the pipeline. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! A MUST READ!!!

ARC read in exchange for honest review.

Good story but too many mistakes

It was a good story, but the separation of the two first person telling got confusing because it wasn't always marked. There were also some spelling and grammatical mistakes that weren't caught. I also thought that some of the thoughts of each character were a little off, such as a guy knowing a Louis Vuitton bag when he sees one. Most guys don't know the difference or don't care and the same goes for the girl as well. The f word was also (to me) a bit overused. I liked the premise of the story, but it seemed almost silly.

New Yorker hits up Alaska

First time read of this authors work for me. Found the title as a freebie.

Female protagonist, heck just about every character in the story did not do as they were asked. What was with that?!

This story's couple cheated death a ridiculous amount of times so much so I was beginning to think they were undercover superheroes.

There seemed to be varying degrees of writing style/editing throughout the story with some chapters being tighter than others. Unsure as to authors body of work but had a developing vibe for me.

Exciting Alaskan wilderness romp

This book was such an exciting romantic suspense adventure set in the Wilderness of Alaska with a sassy, New Yorker who is way out of her element and a man named "Trapper" who actually isn't a trapper. These two strangers end up running for their lives In the middle of nowhere Alaska and run into just about every obstacle nature and man can throw at them.
I absolutely loved this story and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes romantic suspense.

I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book. I really enjoyed the adventures of Layna and Trapper. An exciting action adventure romance that takes place in the Alaskan wilderness. The characters were FUN. The situations, fun, intense, romantic. Just a bit of sizzle to keep things even more interesting. Will we see Layna and Trapper in a New York adventure? I hope so!

Wilderness

The book not so much opened as explored and questions started flowing through my mind. There was non stop action throughout this book. The situation with the pipeline that created all of this activity was not out of line. In the end the guy got the girl and the bad guy went to jail.

This starts at a run and keeps going from there

This was an absolute joy to read! Layna and Trapper snared me from page one and I willingly ran along with them. There isn't one boring moment as these two race against time and the villain who will do anything to get his way. Turn off the phone, lock yourself away and hang on tight!

A Delightful Business Trip Run Amok!

I enjoyed this series of misadventures that shares the wilds of Alaska. It truly is our last frontier! I am glad I spent the summer of 1972 there, with my CGC Staten Island, an icebreaker. The float planes abound up there, as they do.in Maine. It is an adventure.
