A Witch's Work

Makoto gets her first official job request from a Society Witch, and while the job seems mundane at first, a bit of immature magic makes for an unexpected situation. Makoto uses the payment from the job to buy a magical item that reveals the invisible. Chinatsu’s gift from Beachy starts to wreak havoc, until it’s reduced to a form that lets her use a spell...

Another cute addition. Makoto gets her first job which turned out well. There is a water master that can't control his powers as he is just a kid and that was neat, would love to know more about it. Beachy's magical tooth and Chinatsu getting to use magic for the first time was a good story line as well. Lots of fun.

Flying Witch, Vol. 5 (My Kindle Review)

Makoto and her friends get into some very exciting adventures that include a butterfly in the house, a rainy babysitter job and a puddle creature. Even Chinatsu gets to learn a little magic. A- (91%/Excellent)

Summary:

Makoto Kowata is a witch. Or rather, she's a witch in training. As such, she has packed up all her belongings (and cat) to live with distant relatives. It's a bit of a family tradition – a way of sending young witches out into the world - but in a gentler way.

All things said and done, Makoto has gotten pretty comfortable in her new (temporary?) home. More importantly, she's started to act more witchy. It helps that she has a young aspiring witch that she can assist.

Review:

Once again, I adore how magical and relaxing this series is. Flying Witch Vol. 5 exceeded my expectations, continuing this witchy slice-of-life adventure. Best of all, we're seeing more of the magical world and how it operates!

It seems like the longer this series goes on, the more we'll get to see Chinatsu's magical journey. Personally, I love this. We have a witch decently along in her training - and now a witch at the beginning of hers. It's fantastic getting to see these two sides.

Obviously, my favorite parts are still the magical animals and items, but that's no real surprise. I'm looking forward to seeing what adventures await in volume 6.

Highlights:
Slice-of-life
Witchy Tale
Cat Familiar

4/5 Stars

Simple and peaceful, I really enjoy this series. It’s not complicated, no drama, just everyday moments with a hint of magic. In Volume 5, we get to see more of these every day moments as well as Makoto getting her first job from the Society via her mentor Akira. We also get a look at a few more magical creatures, the search for a cure for hiccups or “pick-ups”, Makoto also gets her first payment and makes her first magical item purchase as well as a glimpse at Makoto’s own first self-made spell and Chinatsu does a little something too. It was light, fun and simply enjoyable

Like previous volumes, Makoto and friends have their entertaining mundane and less mundane moments. Water seems to be a theme of this volume for the most part with babysitting a 5-year old rainmaster, visiting a river with the gang, playing with the invisible in puddles and using a surprise gift to Chinatsu. Funny and entertaining situations, at times highly relatable, even without much plot, there is some character growth and world building.

This series continues to be like a breath of fresh air! Reading it is such a stress reliever. I love the lore of the series and am thrilled when anything new gets revealed. I especially love the cafe conclusio, so anytime we get to spend there I really enjoy. I especially like seeing how Makoto got her first official job and all that it entailed. I just can’t get enough of this series and will be ordering the next volume soon.

It's hard to review every volume of this without being repetitive: This is yet another chill, low stakes volume...

And that's fine, sometimes that's all a manga needs to be. This is a relaxing manga, and does it perfectly.

Makoto the witch gets her first magical job and it involves babysitting.

This series is wonderful. It's like pulling on a warm, fuzzy blanket when you've come in from the cold - nothing much happens but it results in that soft 'ahhh' and relaxation.

In this volume, Chito (Makoto's cat) chases a butterfly, Makoto babysits a little boy, Makoto and friends go fishing, Kei gets magical hiccups, Makoto and Chinatsu get an ointment that lets them see invisible things, and Chinatsu works her first magic.

So sweet! I'll definitely be reading the next volume.

Something I noticed in this volume (and the last) is the way chapters sometimes follow on each other, picking up right where one left off. It just seems noticeable since it is otherwise such a slow paced sort of series.

I like the final two chapters in this book the most. The puddle-manta is cute and interesting how it is just there and largely unexplained, the perfect sort of slice of life fantasy situation. And I enjoy the magical experimentation of Makoto's little talking fire in the last chapter.

Yay! We learn even more about witches! Makoto gets a job and we see how those transactions happen. And how witches get paid. And how they get new supplies and objects. And we meet a new type of magical being. There's a new spell that works unlike anything we've seen so far. Chinatsu gets a scary surprise that turns out to be awesome.

This is slowly becoming one of my favorite manga. It's just so cute and fun and weird sometimes and it has witches and familiars and others amazing creatures. All the background story of the witches association and how things work in the magical world is so well thought with many charming details. I know opening a volume I'm gonna have a relaxing time and be peaceful after I finish it.

In this volume, we observe Makoto becoming more comfortable with her surroundings and her powers. She takes on her first official job as a witch, finds a cure for Kei’s hiccups, and helps Chinatsu deal with a growing problem. As always, the humor is gentle and the vignettes are unexpected. When you have magic, anything is possible!

I began with 7 volumes of this series but like it enough that have gotten volumes 8 through 11. The characters are all likeable and the stories are good. The art is often cute and is always effective.

The adventures continue as Makoto takes on her first job and Chinatsu casts her first spell. Who knew paper airplanes were how jobs are sent to witches?! I think that would be a fun way to receive mail. I think it's amusing how much fun Chinatsu has casting her spell.

Reading this book it's like another form of relaxing. It's just so cozy.
Full of fun witchy stuff and Chinatsu got to use magic for the first time.
Lots of excited things happening.

If you're looking for a cozy read with witches, totally recommended this series.
