Cinnamon and spice
Justine and Ryker clash. Constantly. Over everything. This has gone on so long it's almost expected. Now, to get them out of her hair, and to let them settle this in private, Alexa has sent them off to do a repair job in a remote outpost. They'll either admit their feelings or one will kill the other. Ring the bell and place your bets.
Spoilers ahead.
This is a novella. It's situated between 1 and 2, and I was planning on it being short, truly. But, it is really short. The scenes broken up around the major scenes of book 1. We don't see how they met, or any of their early scuffles. There's a prologue on how he met Alexa's sister, Anabel, and how they bonded but chapter 1 begins where book 1 did with the argument in the council meeting. Scenes revolve around that, the discovered issue with the hologram Ambassador, Alexa meeting and Sparking to Rhys and Ryker's reaction, the wall collapse and shifter fight, ... It just keeps bouncing. We barely spend any time with the 2 main characters. It's more like a behind the scenes for book 1 that just jumps into an epilogue 3 years down the road. I mean, we didn't even get to savor Justine learning Ryker's first name lol. And I was expecting some severe ribbing over that one. I would have enjoyed her POV over her Magneto move on the Y's ship, or Ryker's POV over that bit.
