Modern Match-Maker

A Total Sweetheart

Christopher Bennett is kind of a jerk. His match maker doesn't like him and neither does his fiance. But Raven Swann knows her game and she's too smart to let first impressions get in the way when she knows there's someone for everyone.

Christopher:

It's not like I'm a big time celebrity or anything, but I'm well known in this town and I'm not lacking for money. That's why I decided to pay a professional match match maker to find my wife, takes a lot of pressure off me and I don't have to worry about some gold digger that's not worth the time to draw up the pre-nup.

It's not like I'm expecting a super model, but I know my worth and I can do a damn sight better than Amanda Peterson without dropping the kind of money Raven Swann charges.

Amanda:

I might be the only person in town who hadn't heard of Christopher before my match maker set us up together. He's wealthy, he's good looking, he's well known and respected in the community, and-- on paper-- he's a perfect match.

In reality? He's kind of an ass.

I can't blame the match maker entirely though. She doesn't just make matches, she utilizes people from her clients' personal life to help narrow the choices down. It's a true, modern day, arranged marriage.

Or it would be-- if I had any intention of marrying Christopher Bennett.

Rocklyn prefers her romance reads to be short, cute, and dirty; low drama and a little over-the-top: extra points for growly, alpha heroes with beards.

Originally from the farms and ranches of Central California, Rocklyn grew up in the lap of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Those small towns will always be home, but Rocklyn was born to roam.

These days she spends her days exploring America's back roads in her camper trailer, writing steamy happily-ever-afters while looking for internet.

Follow Rocklyn here, on Amazon, find her on social media, or drop by the website (rocklynwrites dot net) and keep in touch when you join the (mostly) weekly newsletter and never miss updates on what's in the works-- and what's working and not in a life full of adventure and shenanigans.

And what do I read? Total smut, the kind with over-the-top chemistry that gets characters to lose their minds and their clothes as soon as possible-- they can work out the kinks on the way to happily ever after later!

A total jacka*** is more fitting title

Hero was shallow as puddle, and for me, he had no redeeming qualities.
He was awfully judgemental and judged people based on their looks, that’s the kind of snob he was.
Because heroine didn’t have model like figure, from looking at her photo, he thought she needs to lose at least 10-20 pounds to even deserve to be considered by him.
Then he made assumptions that she’s like unemployed or a school teacher at beast. She must be lazy, and will sit on her a** all day eating ice cream in loose fitting clothes.
He wants a wife who’ll dazzle in front of the camera and someone he’d enjoy shacking up with which definitely NOT the heroine.
He then feels pity and thinks may be finishing school and gym membership may make her presentable.? Such considerate charmer, however dismisses the idea as it’s not worth the effort.
He thinks she’s 30 something desperate cat lady whose almost past her prime.
Have you picked on the romantic vibes yet?
Only when she dismisses him equally ruthlessly making him realise his self love and self appreciation is unfounded does he finally gets interest in heroine.
He took her as a challenge, however a marriage is NOT a series of adventures. Even an awesome woman like the heroine can’t provide unlimited challenge, what then? Despite his claims, I find it extremely hard to believe that he no longer wants a trophy wife or at least wouldn’t want one when heroine will choose work above his election photo shoots.
This hero is genuinely a not nice person. With that thought process it shows exactly what he is, a jerk. If he changes his opinion only for the heroine doesn’t make him redeemable, that thinking process about anyone in his vicinity, men or women is unforgivable.
This guy just flatters the strong and tyrannises the weak, heroine just happened to be stronger than him and he decided to bow down because that’s the only way to win her.
If she showed a little bit of interest he’d have dismissed her faster than the speed of light.
And with heroine’s best friend? Someone slap her! Not only she blatantly refused to see that there’s other requirements to marriage than the groom being hot, she was genuinely surprised why heroine wasn’t overlooking his douchebag ways because of the hotness. Like are you for real b***h?

I think heroine from book 1 would’ve been a great choice for this hero. They’re equally shallow people who judges people based on their appearances.

**ARC RECEIVED IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW**

3.5 stars

I went into this story knowing the hero was going to be a bit of a jerk and he certainly was. He was arrogant, self absorbed and shallow. He unfortunately remained that way for a large part of the story, which hindered me from completely rooting for him

The heroine was a strong, professional woman who didn't take any crap from the hero and I liked it. While I'm not crazy about an alpha heroine, she was just strong enough to balance the moments of vulnerability we saw.

-no cheating
-no ow/om drama whatsoever
-no violence
-a couple steamy scenes
-safe
-heroine pushed hero away for a couple chapters
-just ok epilogue

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Finally, after what seems like an eternity, Amanda is being told that there is a match for her. She signed up and paid for this with Raven a long time ago. Her BFF, her brother and her sister have met him and are in the next steps of the process. It is scary and nerve wrecking, but saying it to herself now it seems ok. Only there are a LOT of red flags being thrown and Amanda being a very top notch lawyer knows that she should pay attention to her gut instinct. She doesn't understand how he was picked for her, he isn't at all what she could possibly want or need in a husband, but why is she being drawn in without knowing it?

Arrogant, demanding, making everything revolve around him, not to mention self centered and a bit rude, just a few of the things many if not all of the people in Christopher's life could and would describe him as. He is not oblivious to this either. He is a very wealthy man that is looking for a wife that makes him look good. He plans to run politically and his wife needs to be more than arm candy but make him primary and make him a bigger success. Christopher looks at the photo of his intended bride, the one his colleague and partner at work as well as his sister have chosen for him. He is shallow enough to think that she could be thinner, and a bit better looking. Remember that cliche saying of never judging a book by it's cover.....oh yeah!

Everything in Christopher's life revolves around his schedule, including when these dates with his future wife (picked by Raven and his team that are a part of Raven's process.) Amanda doesn't not appreciate the dictation or else condition she is being given, so she gives her own move and it is checkmate immediately. An early morning coffee date, again chosen by Christopher mostly, does not at all charm Amanda. She actually walks out. Of all the nerve. She is not about to deal with this. How everyone on her team and Raven feel he is the one seem to be a huge mystery to her, and she proceeds to send Raven an email to discuss this and find out how she will be able to get her refund. Spurning Christopher is lighting a fire, not a bad one either. Now he decides to play a bit more on an even playing field. However something was said by Christopher that will definitely bit him in his arrogant butt later.

The real date goes much better than expected and things heat up quickly. There seems to be a real connection. So when Raven makes a call to Amanda, something that breaks Amanda's heart is told to her. Christopher texts, calls and leaves voice mails, nothing but a short reply from Amanda. Now he knows something is up but no clue what it is until he talks to his work partner (and team member for helping find his future wife as part of the Raven process) he finds out what the something wrong is. A complete and horrible misunderstanding. Flowers and apologies are sent, and LOTS of flowers at that, those are returned or refused. Desperate to make things right, to win Amanda back, Christopher learns from his sister and Raven a very important lesson. He looks at what is being said and the best part of the twist begins. There is a simple note from him to Amanda, and what he has in store is his last ditch effort to show her he is sorry and show him trying to make it right....none of which is all about him anymore. Amanda shows up, a bit put off and unsure why she even came, but she catches him in the middle of the surprise.

There is a lot that happens and a lot of changes for these two, all of which will have you hoping that they will have a happy ever after - and the only spoiler I will mention is they really do have that awesome and deserved happy ever after!

I always get excited when Rocklyn Ryder releases another Arranged Marriage read as they get better and better each time and me wanting another one as soon as possible. This author never disappoints, the books are just the right amount of drama w/o going overboard and keeping me hooked from beginning to end. What I love about these books is the drama is between the two involved, there are no exes lurking in the background or people trying to break them up. The people in their lives want them to be together and are there for support and stepping in only when necessary.
Christopher & Amanda's story starts off with Raven matching them up but their meeting is not what either expected which left Christopher a little stunned since Amanda didn't fall at his feet. He got knocked down a few pegs, which was amusing but Amanda was what he really needed, she was strong, career orientated and no one walked over her....loved it. Not only that but I loved reading how Christopher finally matured, growing up and realizing that the best thing was walking out of his life and had to get his head on straight if he ever wanted a chance with Amanda.
An amazing read with ahem, oh my steamy scenes and another read that made me want more from this author and from Christopher and Amanda so much so that I bought the book even though I received an ARC to show my support to the author and to kept writing these books that I can't get enough of.

Christopher Bennett, needs a wife and not just any wife. He needs a women who is beautiful and able to handle his political aspirations. He hires Raven Swann to find her.
Amanda Peterson is a successful criminal defender, who is on the fast tract to judge. She is tired of the dating game, doesn't have time for it, so she hires Raven Swann to find her a husband.
Christopher's best friend Rod and sister Marina have found the perfect women for him, so they say.
Amanda's best friend Lori, and brother Brent say they found the perfect man for her. Her best friend thinks he's hot, her brother is in a bromance with him, but her sister Kari doesn't like him, Raven doesn't seem to like him. On paper both Raven and Kari agree they are perfect for each other.
The first date has Chris ordering Rod to have Raven find someone else. Amanda looking for a refund.
Chris calls for a second date, he wants to let Amanda down easy, but as the evening goes on they find they are perfect for each other. Then Chris breaks Amanda's heart.
I didn't like Chris at all. I didn't think he could do anything to win me over. What he does to win Amanda back, he earn the title of Total Sweetheart. I loved him in the end and the epilogue was so perfect.
Love the Raven Swann books. Loved Chris and Amanda's story.
I received and ARC copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. I bought a copy, because I loved the story and to support the author.

Local celebrity Christopher Bennett has political aspirations and wants a wife and family to improve his public image so he hires Raven Swann, a pricey matchmaker who specialises in happy arranged marriages. When Christopher sees Amanda's photo in her profile, he thinks there's no way he's marrying her so he tells his assistant Rod to contact Raven to let her know. Criminal defence attorney Amanda Peterson wants to stop dealing with the bullshit of dating and find the right man and get married which is why she hired Raven Swann. Amanda has second thoughts when her best friend tells her the right match has been found. After meeting Christopher for coffee, Amanda decides that he's not what she's looking for and sends Raven an email to let her know. Christopher can't stop thinking about Amanda after he meets her and tells his assistant to set up a dinner date for them ... just to give her a nice evening out. The date goes so well that Christopher and Amanda start spending all their free time together until a misunderstanding crops up thanks to his love of delegating tasks. A lovelorn Christopher is desparate to explain the misunderstanding but Amanda refuses to take his calls. Will Christopher be able to come up with a plan to win Amanda back?

If you read the description of this story before buying it then all I can say is that it is accurate. Chris (the male lead) what an A**! Well at least he redeemed himself. I could not stand the male lead in this story, but I do believe that was by design. He proved himself to be a better man then he acted and that is what saved the story for me.

This was another terrific story by Rocklyn and another great addition to the Arranged Marriage stories. You know that you are going to have a bit of an issue with the main male character when Raven herself doesn’t like him. I loved that Raven still took on his case because she knew that deep down he was a different person.

This is the story of Chris, a radio personality, looking for his love in a woman who will be the “perfect” wife for his future political career. What he really gets in a dose of humility and perspective from his future wife Amanda. I LOVED that Amanda did not back down to Chris and that she is the one that made him chase her. She was strong, independent, and fierce when needed. This was a sweet story that started out with me disliking Chris and then loving him in the end. Well done, Rocklyn. I received an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.

Christopher Bennett is kind of a jerk and he's been waiting for a match from Raven Swann's matchmaking website for a wife. When he gets a folder containing the information about the woman his team and Raven believe would be his perfect match he is less than enthusiastic. He believes that Amanda looks frumpy and could stand to lose 15-20 pounds. So he opts for a quick coffee date so he can get on with finding a real match and not this dumpy looking woman who he'd be embarrassed to be seen with. When he actually meets Amanda he realizes he judged her unfairly. She is a successful criminal defense attorney and will likely be a judge within the next four years. She is quite poised and beautiful. After sitting there not really talking to her, Amanda decides she had enough and basically dismisses Chris. He is able to get another date out of her and it goes a million times better. But due to miscommunication and Chris letting his PA handle talks with Raven, Amanda gets told that Chris didn't think they were a match. Amanda is hurt and when Chris tries to set the record straight she won't even give him the time of day. Grab this book today to see what lengths Chris will go to, to get another chance with Amanda. This is another great book by Rocklyn Ryder and you'll love it for sure.

I have to say I have honestly missed this series. I have always loved every book in the Arranged Marriage series. Each new book I read then instantly becomes my favorite. There is just something about this book that I have to say I honestly think it is my all-time favorite of this series so far. When we first meet Christopher he is an ignorant conceited idiot or as they call him in the book a douche. He thinks that a wife is a piece of property and he wants one to fit into his life and help his career. One glace at Amanda’s picture and he totally dismisses her and thinks she isn’t the right fit for what he wants. Amanda is a strong capable woman who takes no crap from anyone. One meeting with Christopher and Amanda thinks he is a douche. Against her better judgement she decides to give him another date. From that moment on this book takes on a life of its own. It will make you smile and laugh until the very last page. This is most definitely a 5 star read. If you want to find out if Christopher really is a douche you will need to pick up this book and give it a try!! I voluntarily received a copy for my honest review.

I’ve been waiting impatiently for the next installment in the Raven Swann matchmaker saga and the wait was totally worth it. Christ starts out thinking he’s going to get the perfect political wife to live up to his aspirations. He’s surprised to instead get a woman who’s not sure she wants anything to do with him. Amanda’s looking for a partner, a lover, a father for their future children. But what she gets in Chris is a self-centered, arrogant, entitled jerk who has his staff manage his life. Has Raven lost her mind? It’s like Raven explains, she’ll find you the match you need not the one you think you want. Amanda and Chris are both dominant personalities and both of these alphas needed someone just as strong as they are to keep them on their toes and challenge them. I love all the growth that these two have to go through in order to see what their relationship could become. It just goes to show that even if someone else is doing all the work to find the right partner for you, you sill need to put in the effort to make the partnership work.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. I am absolutely loving this series. This one was a little different in that Christopher was using the services of Raven Swann at first as more of a way to find a suitable wife to fit in to his lifestyle and not to find love and a connection with a woman who wanted the same things he wanted from this arrangement. Amanda did have some reservations at first being as Chris came across as arrogant and someone who only wanted her to fit into what he felt he needed. Once they meet of course and start to realize they have the connection and the chemistry everything seems to be alright. Until of course it backfires on Chris who had tasked his friend and assistant with talking to Raven most of the time and because of that there is some miscommunication which results in Amanda being told Chris is not interested in here. Chris finally learns from his mistakes and takes matters that are personal and to work related into his own hands in order to keep Amanda. This was a great read and I look forward to more wonderful books by Ms Ryder!

I read this book as part of an arc program. this was another in the Raven Swann arranged marriages series. This book is about Christopher, a self centered man who thinks he has his life planned out and thinks it is everybody else's responsibility to solve all of his personal problems and find a wife for him. Amanda is a lawyer who wants to have a family and when she first meets Christopher, she doesn't like him and wants to ask Raven for a refund. Christopher is insulted Amanda doesn't like him and wants to have dinner with her to see if he can win her over. Christopher thinks Amanda is perfect for his image and after they get to know one another over a weekend, he thinks everything is going well until his assistant informs him he told Raven to start another search. At first I really didn't like Christopher and couldn't believe Raven even took him on as a client. This was an enjoyable read and I changed my mind over Christopher the more I read. This is another good one from Rocklyn, well done.

Raven Swann's Toughest Match Ever?

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book, A Total Sweetheart by Rocklyn Ryder.

Wow! Seriously, WOW! Rocklyn is one of the best authors I've ever read. I love her Raven Swann series! I was hooked with the very first one, A Perfect Gentleman. This is book #9 of the series but each one is a standalone so you don't have to read in order or even read them all but why would you not want to?

Raven sure does have her work cut out for her with this one! Chris is a first class jerk that decides he needs a wife that makes him look good and Amanda is a strong, confident woman that is ready to settle down and have a family. Did Raven get it wrong with this match or does she know something we don't? You also got to wonder, what were their family and friends thinking. I was wondering a few times myself.

Do I regret reading this one? Heck No!! Rocklyn's Best One Yet!!

I really enjoyed this quick read. I liked Amanda from the beginning but Chris had to grow on me. At first he is in this for his career, it's a political move for him to get married so he has a very specific idea on what he's looking for. Raven of course isn't about what the client wants but instead what they need. She wants her matches to work for the long haul . I liked how Amanda didn't just fall in line with Chris. Chris is quickly out of control with this situation and things change for both Amanda and Chris quickly. Their first impressions get changed and it shows that Raven does know what she's doing. There are definite miscommunications and Chris has to learn to change so that they don't continue to happen. He has had his assistant do too many personal things and it backfires on him. I enjoyed reading this quick story and getting to see the characters grow and figure things out. Just another fun Raven Swann read.

A hardheaded man finds love

I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book and will definitely recommend it.

Amanda is a criminal defense attorney and a damn good one but unfortunately for her she's not good a finding men. So signing up with a marriage broker seemed like her only option.

Christopher is a radio celebrity and looking to run for office. He signs up with Raven to find him a wife for his political needs.

Chris is not happy with who his team picks based on the file he reviewed but when he meets Amanda in person he's stunned by how wrong his impression was of her from the file. Amanda on the other hand isn't thrilled by him at all.

Chris takes her to dinner to give a better impression and they hit it off. But when you have your assistant handling your personal affairs things can be ruined by one phone call. Now Chris has no idea how to convince Amanda to give him another chance.

A great book to read.

Raven Swan scores again by finding a perfect marriage for two busy people who have not had success in the dating game. Amanda’s team is her BBF Lori and her siblings Brent and Kari. While Lori and Brent think that their final choice Christopher is a “total sweetheart”, Kari is not a big supporter. Christopher’s team is his sister Marina and his assistant and business partner Rod. Christopher, Mr. Big Shot, almost blows the first meeting, with preconceived ideas about Amanda and she has to be convinced to even make time for a second “date”. But the second date goes very well and they both start to think this will work, until Chris’s poor communications let both Raven and Amanda think he is not interested. Now he has to convince both Raven and Amanda that he is not the ass he appears and win them both over, or he will lose the woman he now realizes is not only perfect for him, but who he loves.

**I received this ARC in exchange for an honest voluntary review** The latest installment to the Raven Swann series for couple Christopher & Amanda. Chris is looking for a wife to fit his mini celebrity status in the community & soon to be political image. Though he always dictates his work to other people, Raven & Chris's team have finally made a selection after a year, in the form of Amanda. Looking at her picture, she's automatically not the one for him, until he's forced by his team to meet her. And when he does, she walks away from him, making him rethink his judgment. Loved independent & strong Amanda was and Chris definitely takes some time to warm up to, though he totally redeems himself. Another great addition & always love when Raven actually appears in the story. Would recommend! :)

Oh matchmaker Raven Swann you have done it again. Christopher Bennett doesn't think Raven can find a match for him but he is paired with Lawyer Amanda Peterson, not what he expects but she is more than suited to him. At first, Amanda thinks Chris is a jerk but after seeing him for a while, realises they get along. After a terrible misunderstanding, Amanda doesn't want to see Chris again. Oh dear, what a to do. Chris now realises he has to fight to get Amanda back. You can't always get other people to do your deeds in the affairs of the heart ❤️ but Chris is given a dose of reality. A hot sexy story that is just perfect , love the banter, the romance, everything.

I am hooked on the Arranged Marriage series by Rocklyn Ryder and this book is a great addition to the series. Christopher and Amanda are well written, interesting characters with great friends and family who are helping them find "the one". Chris, unfortunately likes to take short cuts, thinks he's too busy, and is kid of a jerk.....that is until Amanda cuts him down. She's a no nonsense lawyer, who is not about to put up with his pretentiousness. The chemistry is hot, the pain is real, just another great match by Raven Swann. Loved It!!

I'm amazed at how the author invents some rather unusual circumstances revolving around arranged marriage. Each book is a stand alone story with her humor, romance and heat. Chris has to be the first male lead I found to be a complete ass which had me wondering what Raven was thinking taking him on as a client. Amanda although career driven is a strong woman who wants marriage and family and Chris was not what she pictured for the job. Reading and watching Chris grow was endearing. By the end of the book, he won me over heart and soul. Reading the this series will have you looking at arranged marriages in a whole new light.

Amanda is tired of the dating scene and wants to find a man who is her equal. Christopher is looking for a wife as a political strategy. Both soon learn that first impressions aren't everything. Will Chris realize that there is more to a wife than looks? Will Amanda and Chris be able to work out how to communicate?

Another Raven success. At first I didn't really like Chris, but just like all of Rocklyn Ryder's men, I grew to see that there was more to him than he presented. Loved Amanda's tough take no sh*t attitude. These two were the perfect match and I think they both taught each other to compromise and what was really important.

I just love this unique theme 'arranged marriages'.

Christopher has his life all mapped out and the ideal woman in mind. From a photo, he decides Amanda is not his ideal mate and is ready to scrap the whole arranged marriage.

Amanda is an attorney and doesn't take sh*t from anyone. She definitely doesn't have time for someone who is stuck on themselves.

I enjoyed the steady pace of this book, that Chris & Amanda did not have the 'love at first sight' moment. They had to work at finding each other for their happy ever after.

Thank you to the author for this advanced readers copy. I cannot wait for the next Arranged Marriage Romance.

OMG in the beginning I thought Chris was a major jerkface! UGH his attitude made me really mad. Not that Amanda is super enthused in the beginning, either. It's kind of funny considering they both signed up for this. Of course there are misunderstandings and sexy times and a big ol HEA. It wouldn't be in the arranged marriage series if it didn't meet these requirements. Raven Swann would not approve.
I love these books, they are my guilty pleasure, and short enough to read in an afternoon while the kids are at school.
I hope to get a million more!

I really enjoy this series from Rocklyn! This story shows that even though it may take a while and a bit of a shake up, love can find you! This story of Amanda and Christopher shows that it takes more that an "On paper" match to really see your soul mate. At first I wanted to smack Christopher upside his head for being so narssistic, but as the story went on he redemeed himself. I applauded Amanda for sticking to her guns and for making Christopher see what a catch she was. I truly hope that this series continues!

First impressions could be misleading and confuse the smartest. Amanda and Christopher’s marriage arrangement was hanging from a thread. Even Raven, the matchmaker, was speechless. Could there be another opportunity to fix the misunderstanding? Liked the process Christopher went through. An interesting and entertaining story with good pace, a challenge, amusing scenes, romance, passion and a HEA. Kept me waiting for the outcome of the male character’s predicament and enjoying the plot development.

I love, love, love this series!!! Each book is a fantastic fun read and this one follows suit. Every story is a standalone so you can read them in any order without feeling lost or having backstory you don't know about.

Chris is an a** in the beginning. There's a good chance you're going to hate him. However, he did eventually win me over and I was actually rooting for him and Amanda to make it. Chalk this up as another win for Raven Swann (and Rocklyn Ryder).

I think this is the best Raven Swann Arrange Marriage romance books in the series. I couldn't put it down.
I bet there are ALOT of women out there that know are dated/married a man like Chris. A total a$$hole/douche bag.
But men like that don't know a good thing when they have it until they have lost them. Chris is everything to get Amanda to give him another chance. It's not until we start planning things and so does he finally get the chance to win her back because they both have lost their hearts to each other.
