This book was such a fun book to read! I love a good rock star story, so getting this was book was amazing! This book contains 9 novellas from 9 authors, some i'm fairly new to and some I'v been a fan of for many years such as Rachel Van Dyken, J.L. Berg etc. All 9 books are really good, while some are HOT!!! They all 'center' around a rockstar but they all have 9 very different stories.... I hope give this book a read because I certainly enjoyed this book.
The Realtor and the Rock Star Jennifer Berg 5 stars – dual; safe though he appears to be a manwhore, no ow/om; no triggers After making a name for herself in the music industry, Kennedy is ready to buy a house and has an appointment with realtor to the stars, Ryan Rhodes. When she becomes stuck in the elevator with a sexy stranger who asks her on a date, she’s dismayed to learn he’s her new realtor and he had every intention of blowing her off to hook up with a stranger…her. This is an awesome set up to what I hope becomes an even greater book. I’m going to need more of Kennedy and Ryan because they have chemistry off the charts. Even so, I loved the little glimpse I had of them and their pasts, but yeah, I just NEED more!
The Right Direction Kathy Coopmans 4 Stars Dual; safety – both with others but no ow/om drama; possible trigger - miscarriage Roman had always promised Joslyn they’d be together forever, but when life plays a cruel trick on them they are separated for years. Joslyn chose to carry the heaviest portion of that separation on herself but now that circumstances and even her own choices have reunited the couple they have to find a way to make it work so they can make their dreams come true. Both characters were real and likable. A lot of this is background and it felt as though it was setting us up for a longer book. I’m okay with that and would love to know how this couple find their forever happy ever after.
Rebel Molly McAdams 4 Stars Dual; safety – both have been with others but no ow/om drama, he’s reputed to be manwhore but he doesn’t sleep with groupies; no apparent triggers Libby has always waited for Maxon even though she always told him she wouldn’t. It was their thing even though Maxon has been ready for forever all his life. Now she’s holding true to her promise to not wait and Maxon is in an uproar. When things aren’t what they seem, communication is the most important thing a couple can do. So he lays it all out for her and now it’s up to her to decide what step they will take next. An angsty little read that was entirely too short but which could also be built into a longer book.
Rocking the Racer Erin Noelle 4 Stars Heroine POV; safety – she’s been with others, no enough to know if he has although he’s talking to well-built bartender when she sees him again; no apparent triggers This is just a quick set up for a book or novella. The couple had a quick hook up one year earlier and they haven’t forgotten each other. Hot and steamy and I’m certainly curious about how it will all play out.
Play Me Sex, Lust and Rock & Roll Jessica Prince 5 Stars Heroine POV; safety – she’s been with a few and he’s a rock star so there’s that to help figure out their histories, o/women yelled at her cause she was picked “for the night” and H is pretty clear that’s what’s going on; no apparent triggers Oh, I’m definitely going to need more of Maddox and Reagan! As far as wham-bam-thank-you-ma’ams go, this one sunk a hook deep into me. It’s got the potential to check all my boxes. The story itself is a set up for more and I’ll be hunting that gem down pretty dang quick!
What About Us? Yessi Smith 5 Stars Dual; safe – no ow/om, nothing indicating he’s a manwhore; possible trigger – parental alcohol addiction When Brandon rescues Maria’s brother from a bad decision, he immediately recognizes her as the woman he was drawn to earlier in the day. She sees him as just a man and not a rock star and that’s something he’s hungry for. This was a well-built story with some insta-feelings to it, but nothing too over the top. It was sweet and humorous and the chemistry between the characters felt real. Again, it could’ve been longer and could possibly be given a follow up book.
The Song Rachel VanDyken 5 Stars Dual; safe; no apparent triggers Saylor and Gabe!! Wonderful follow up to this couple! You don’t even have to know what their journey has been to appreciate the love and romance found in this little gem of a novella!
To Feel Loved Jennifer Van Wyk 4 Stars Dual; safe; possible triggers – parental neglect Brandon and Savannah’s characters were well developed and despite so sibling squabbling I found a bit immature, I loved all the family dynamics here. Savannah’s issues were believable and Brandon was just the guy to help her through them.
Cardinal Sins Kristin Vayden 4 Stars Dual; safe; no apparent triggers Jaya had taken more than Cardinal’s heart the one night they shared together. Now she needs him and he’s in the perfect position to make her pay. This was a great little novella full of music and passion and just a touch angsty.
*********************** Overall, this was a great collection of stories from some very talented authors. Some of them definitely had the potential to be more and some of them were designed to lead you into a future book but all of them were well written and engaging. There is going to be something here for everyone who loves romance. And let me just remind you that all the proceeds from this book is going to G-Pact a non-profit organization which provides services to patients who have a digestive tract paralysis including gastroparesis.
Anthologies are awesome! For one, they provide extended stories about the characters we love and they also introduce us to new authors, and… AND this is a rock star collection. Total catnip for me!
From this anthology I really wanted to read Rachel Van Dyken’s The Song, but there were other authors like J.L. Berg, I was interested in. And to top it all off, this is the kind of publication that gives as much as you get because all proceeds to towards patients and families affected by Gastroparesis. So thank you to all the great authors who gave their time and creativity to this laudable production! *** The Song, by Rachel Van Dyken is a sweet and touching story in which we get Saylor and Gabe’s from the Seaside Pictures series. Saylor is getting ready to give birth while Gabe is going out of his mind with worry for her while struggling to compose a new song he commit to write by the end of the day. But no inspiration would come while his most treasured person was in pain, but parenthood is a beautiful thing and which comes with its own inspiration. I read this short story over lunch and loved it. It was sweet, fun and absolutely delightful. *** In The Realtor and the Rock Star by Jennifer Berg we meet Kenney and Ryan, the rock star and the realtor where Kennedy is looking to buy a house and has scheduled an appointment with the elusive Ryan Rhodes, but when the handsome stranger she gets stuck with in an elevator asks her out on a date she is disappointed to find out he’s also the one and only Ryan who was about to blow her off?
This story is super short and told from both points of view. There’s a great deal of chemistry between these two characters and it is my hope that their story will continue in a full length title. *** I’d had never read anything by Jessica Prince, but what respectable book nerd rock chick can resist a title like “Sex, Lust and Rock & Rock”? I got a small taste of Maddox and Reagan insta-lust and I can’t wait to read more. This story is told from the heroine’s point of view. *** These and all the stories in the anthology made me laugh, smile and fan myself. They’re well written and engaging. I’m looking forward to read more about all the characters I’ve been introduced to. If you’re a rock romance lover like myself and you know any of these authors or are looking to be introduced to new talented writers, this is a great collection for you!
* I was given an ARC of this book courtesy of the author via NetGalley. The excerpts are from that copy. I am voluntarily reviewing this title. *
This anthology is chalked up full of rock star goodness. 9 sweet, sinfully addicting stories from 9 great authors. Each story unique but each one so sooo good giving you a bit of everything.
With stories that will have you completely smitten and satisfied to some that will have you craving more. Whether you have read anything else from these authors or not this is one anthology that you definitely should read.
J.L Berg's The Realtor and the Rock Star is fun and hot and I definitely need more from her. I loved the fact that in this one the heroine was the rock star. She gave me just enough to get me addicted but wanting so much more for these two characters because that ending was hot fire.
The Right Direction by Kathy Coopmans was a promise of what I think is some angsty goodness. A second chance romance that I can't wait to get my hands on. Roman and Joslyn definitely have a past and I need to see how this story unfolds.
Rebel by Molly McAdams, I loved that we got a story with Libby from her Redemption series. And Libby and Maxon have this chemistry that seriously had me gushing. With some push and pull with these two and some intense moments, this one had me on edge. Even though this was a short and quick read it was full of ups and downs and I loved it.
Erin Noelle's Rocking the Racer. Now dayummmm this one is a rock star and a race car drive. This story was sexually charged and had all the passion and lust with an ending that made you say OH SHIT !!!!!
Jessica Prince's Play Me has Maddox and Reagan and it's the kind of instant attraction that is undeniable. The way these two meet and how this story ends. I can tell you that I am praying and begging that we get more soon. I'm so ready for more from these two.
What About Us by Yessi Smith, Brandon and Maria these two and their story literally pulled at my heartstrings. Maria's story is a little bit heartbreaking and her strength is amazing. Enter rock star Brandon and I think that maybe my ovaries have exploded a bit. Because SWOON !!!!!!!!!!!!! I pray Yessi reads this because I absolute must have more.
The Song by Rachel Van Dyken. This was sweet, funny and sooo adorable. With characters from her Seaside Pictures series. I absolutely adored seeing them again and this story will make your heart full of love.
To Feel Loved by Jennifer Van Wyk. This is the first I've read of Jennifer Van Wyk and I fell in love with the amazing family in this book. Brandon and Savannah have a sweet romance, these two just fit so perfectly and I definitely am going to be looking up more of her books.
Cardinal Sins by Kristin Vayden. Short, sweet but I loved this second chance story. There is a lot of bitterness surrounding Jaya and Cardinal at the beginning of this. But the story that unfolds is one that is just lyrically beautiful. These two overcome a past full of hurt and betrayal and loved how this was told.
Seriously all these stories were amazing. As I said above so much goodness wrapped up in one book.
I love anthologies! I love getting small taste of several different writers compiled in one place with a similar theme! I love that these authors got together to bring awareness to an illness not many people are familiar with and also in support of one of the sweetest people I've ever met, Jill Sava.
Jill if you see this please know the amount of love and support we all have for you. You are a rock star in your own right so this book could not be a more fitting.
Jennifer Van Wyk: To Feel Loved Its no secret that I love everything Jennifer writes. To Feel Loved is no exception! I don't even know how she managed to get what felt like a full length book wrapped up into a short story. Brandon and Savannah's chemistry is felt literally at first glance. I love how it intertwines with other of Jennifer's books (which I highly recommend) but yet can still be read as a stand alone. I loved the rock star theme, the characters, the back stories and just everything about it. I'm kind of sad this wasn't a complete book and I hope we see more of them in the future !
Rachel Van Dyken: Song I seem to love anything Rachel writes! The story grabs you from the very first line. Gabe is trying to distract himself with work deadline thats fast approaching while Saylor prepares to give birth to their child upstairs. Gabe is overwhelmed by the enormity of the situation. The deep rooted fear he feels in his soul is palpable. I love this story is about their child being brought into the world and yet its about so much more.
YESSI always give me so much hope in love and kindness with the stories she writes. This short story It's about instant love. A powerful connection between two soul that take you by surprise and can change your life. Brandon it's a ROCK STAR; hot, sexy, with lots of wealth and fame. Maria is just a humble young woman who is dealing with so much more that she should take at such a young age. Destiny will bring them together aaaaand to know how this two deal with such emotions YOU HAVE TO READ IT!!! jajaaj I'm so bad. Seriously you have to read it. I hate to spoil it for you.
The Song by Rachel Van Dyken
This was my first book from Rachel and I'm super curious to know if all this couple presented on this story already have books or if she's planing on doing the series. This one was another sweet love story. Let just say I would looove to have a Rock Star husband like Gabe Hyde. In only few pages you could see how devoted he is of his family and friends. Saylor is his wife, muse and love of his life.
Hope you all take your time to read this stories and remember that the profits will go for such a great cause, G-PACT.
Once Upon a Rock Star Anthology is a collection of 9 authors coming together in support of individuals with gastroparesis, and all funds go to G-Pact an organization supporting this disease.
This review is for The Realtor and The Rock Star by J.L. Berg. It is the story of Kennedy and Ryan. Kennedy is a rock star and Ryan is a realtor with an ego a mile long. It’s a very quick, sweet story of two people who are instantly attracted to each other.
I loved this story. My only criticism is that it ended so quickly. I wanted more. I hope that Ms. Berg continues the story at a later date.
I will say again how much I love anthologies. I get to read books from some of my favourite authors whilst being introduced to new to me authors.....whilst raising awareness for a worthy cause. Some of the books in this collection are novellas and they all tantalizingly tease the reader in some way, shape or form.....and Hello! Rock stars that will melt your heart and your pants! In particular The Right Direction by Kathy Coopmans....Roman and Joslyn totally stole my heart......there is so much left unsaid and done between these two but the emotions poured off the pages, totally pulling me in. I recommend you add this to your TBR now!
This review is for To Feel Loved by Jennifer Van Wyk. Let me just start off my saying that was not nearly enough Brandon and Savannah! I love them!!! Brandon is a rock star, so I mean that in itself is sexy! And Savannah, she has a heart of gold. They hit it off right away and let's just say, you'll swoon! But Savannah has some heartbreak in her life and you'll see both her and Brandon react to that obstacle. You'll cry but you'll love! And most of all? You get to check back in with our amazing group of characters we already love! I couldn't ask for more in this anthology! (Ok yes I could, maybe to have more story because I loved it!!)
Since all proceeds are being donated to G-Pact, a non-profit set up to assist patients and their families, if you want to do something for people who are affected by gastroparesis, buy this book!
If you want to do something for yourself ... read it!
Typically, when I read an anthology of short stories like this one, I skip to the stories written by my favorite authors, and after that, it's kind of hit or miss whether I bother even looking at the other stories.
In this case however, since six of the nine stories are from authors that I've read and enjoyed, I read the whole thing straight through from cover to cover, and I'm very glad I did.
The Realtor and the Rockstar by J.L. Berg is the perfect short story to lead off with. Not long enough to even require chapters, it nevertheless introduces a couple of different and intriguing characters already set on a collision course, and it doesn't take long before sparks fly. Proving to be much more than either of the descriptors in the title, for all it's brevity, there's a lot packed into this story that will certainly leave you wondering.
The Right Direction by Kathy Coopmans reads like a short story, but is actually the first few chapters of her forthcoming novel of the same name. 12 years after leaving home to become a rockstar, Roman once again finds himself in jail and in need of a lawyer. What he doesn't expect is for his new defense counsel to be the girl he left behind all those years ago, and there's a lot more going on than just that. Emotional and intense, my first read from this author checked all the boxes.
Rebel by Molly McAdams tells the story of Maxon and Libby, the rocker and the hometown girl who continually promises that she wont be waiting for him, only this time as his band finishes their tour in their hometown as is their tradition, it finally seems like she's done waiting. Another first read, this entry was probably my favorite of the collection with enough angst and misunderstandings, pride and lies to fill an entire novel, it really packs a punch, and I'll surely be checking out her Redemption Series from which the character of Libby is lifted.
Rocking the Racer from Erin Noelle focuses on Ashlyn who, together wit her twin brother Everett (who had his story told in the novel Everything) comprises the band Singed Wings. Having previously engaged in a scorching encounter with Formula One driver Milan last time she was in Buenos Aires, now that she's got him in her sights again, nothing's going to stop her getting another taste. The bad boy and Daddy's not so good girl steam things up but it isn't wings that wind up being singed in this risqué, impetuous encounter.
With another set of twins, Play Me by Jessica Prince has a genuine good girl being dragged along to a concert by her wild child sister, only to catch the attention of the hot singer from the supporting band. Can she take her twin's advice and let it all go for just one night? If so ... what then? Injecting a dose of responsibility with a dash of innocence into this rockstar montage this story is an abrupt change of tempo, but no less compelling.
What about us by Yessi Smith changes things up yet again with rocker Brandon out and about incognito and finding himself in a position to play good Samaritan to you boy who's down on his luck. When he finds out that the boy's sister is the hot maid who cleaned his hotel room just yesterday, there are suddenly other things he'd like to play. A tale of two worlds, two completely disparate socioeconomic strata colliding, Brandon sure has his work cut out for him once Maria realizes exactly who he is.
Rachel Van Dyken brings back Gabe and Saylor from her novel Toxic, together with a whole bunch of their friends from the shared universe she's built up over the years to give us a story about how constricting fear can be and how, if we let it, it can stop us from actually living our own lives, as singing sensation Gabe, who has it all is paralyzed by the specter of what could be lost as his wife prepares to give birth to their first born. Tense, yet filled with love and laughter, its a truly uplifting tale.
The trope of keeping a child secret from it's father is a fairly common one in the world or romance, but what about a secret rockstar? It seems almost like an oxymoron, but in To Feel Loved by Jennifer Van Wyk that's exactly what Brandon is. He's not in it for the fame, glitz, glamor or notoriety. All he wants is to connect with his fans through his music, and maybe connect with some of the female fans in other ways after a show. The last thing he wants is for his family to find out about his secret passion, not because they wouldn't support him, but because their support itself would be smothering. The last thing he expects is for his sister to bring someone to a gig that, in one look re-writes everything he's ever known about women. As with everything in the series that this is spun off from, Jennifer delivers big family and big love.
Finally, the last story (and the last first read for me) Kristin Vayden plays the closing lines with Cardinal Sins, wherein Cardinal, former singer, now record producer is pressured into working with Jaya, a starlet whose hunger for fame has led her to burn many in her path, including Cardinal despite the chemistry that once flared between them. Bitterness and desperation clash head on in this surprisingly intimate story that closes out the anthology on a high note.
This anthology is filled with sinfully rock star awesomeness!! 9 sexy, sinful, seductive, sweet stories from 9 of the best authors around. Each story is new and different from the next one in the book and so addictive, you want more. And what’s great about this anthology is these authors banded together to bring awareness to an illness not many out there are aware of and also to support one of their own in the romance community, Jill Sava.
Some of the books in this Anthology are novellas and they tease the readers with the possibilities that these books could take. The Right Direction by Kathy Coopmans. This is a snippet will be a full book that we will get come Dec 6th. It is an emotional 2nd chance love story. The brief view that I read in this book had me so tore up for the main couple Roman and Joslyn. Their love story is heartbreaking and tragic and so full of pain yet there is hope , even in the few pages I read, that this is gonna be one heck of an emotional rollercoaster of a ride. Roman is a rocker who did something which brought back Joslyn into his life…but is it going to be good or bad ? Awww I hated where it ended but I cant wait to read this love story. Kathy has a way of writing her couples and their love stories. It is so real and so passionate. This is definitely a winner! Rebel by Molly McAdams—Libby is one wild one who didn’t care for rules, Maxon was her everything until he became a big time rockstar. Thing is now he is back and ready to make everything right-which is make her his. Only Libby isn’t waiting around for Maxon and that has him completely at a loss as to why? This is another great 2nd chance love story with great passion , sex, ups and downs. It is short and sweet with one great HEA. Play Me by Jessica Prince-- Reagan doesn't know how to live LIFE—she has been too busy working but all that’s changes when she meets sexy lead singer, Maddox Sheppard. He gets her to see what life is like when you give up being responsible, of taking a step out of that box. He takes her to an after party and OMG…their chemistry is thru the roof. I need more of their story like NOW…I cant wait to read more of their story soon!! The Realtor and the Rock Star by JL Berg-- Ryan and Kennedy meet when Kennedy the rocker is trying to buy a home and Ryan the Realtor is the one showing homes. Their first meeting is oh so different and not what you would expect when meeting your realtor. I need more of their story because let me say, this was short, sassy, sexy and OMG their story is so not done…It is fantastic and great!! Cardinal Sins by Kristin Vayden-- Cardinal and Jaya aren’t exactly on the best terms. They aren’t friendly but find themselves working on a song together. I enjoyed reading these two find love thru the magic of music. It was a beautiful story and I love this author. Her stories always touch a cord in me. She is a semi new author and I now have her on auto buy.
The other books in this anthology are The Song by Rachel Van Dyken, To Feel Loved by Jennifer Van Wyk , What About Us by Yessi Smith and Rocking the Racer by Erin Noelle
My Rating: 4.9 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
Proceeds from this book go to G-Pact (a non-profit organization for people with Gastroparesis). So many of my favourite authors plus a heartfelt note from Jill Sava are in this anthology for a great cause. Some of these stories have an HEA while others are just a tease of more to come, so keep that in mind. Here's reviews of most of the stories:
Rebel by Molly McAdams Libby is a wild child who does what she wants, she's a rebel. Maxon was her everything until rock stardom called, but now he's back and ready to make her his, but she's not waiting for him this time and he doesn't know why. A short, hot, sweet story tied up with a nice HEA bow!
Rocking the Racer by Erin Noelle A reunion of sorts for Ashlynn and Milan after a one night stand...she's in a rock band that's touring, he's a race car driver, and their chemistry is hot and intense. I was so into this sexy story and then it ended...I'll definitely be looking for the continuation of this one!
Play Me by Jessica Prince Reagan doesn't know how to "live", she's been too busy being responsible, but after extremely sexy lead singer, Maddox Sheppard, picks her to take to the concert after party, she's definitely contemplates stepping out of her box. Holy hotness, I need the rest of the Maddox and Reagan story asap!
What About Us by Yessi Smith Brandon is a rock God turned hero to Maria and her brother. Maria is tired and worn down from work and taking care of her two siblings. They are hardly a match made in heaven, but the chemistry and the attraction between them is undeniable. While my heart broke for Maria, it sang for the sweetness shown by Brandon, “He’s a good-hearted, stubborn, pain in the ass.” I want more, more Brandon and Maria, more of the rest of the band, more of Yessi's writing, just more!
The Song by Rachel Van Dyken Gabe and Saylor are having a baby and although it causes some anxiety, it causes way more happiness. This is a story of after the happily ever after.
To Feel Loved by Jennifer Van Wyk Brandon meets Savannah when his twin sister invites her to his concert, and bam...he can't keep his eyes off of her. Omg, these two are so perfect for each other! “You’re more than just tonight. To me? You feel… more. Everything.” Brandon is just completely swoon worthy, but he's got his work cut out for him because Savannah doesn't feel worthy. I loved the connection to characters from Jennifer's other books!
Cardinal Sins by Kristin Vayden An interesting spin on a rock star romance which immediately grabbed my attention. Cardinal and Jaya aren't exactly on friendly terms, but suddenly find themselves working on a song together. Can the magic of music heal old wounds? This was my first time reading Kristin Vayden and I'll certainly be seeking out more of her books now!
The Realtor and the Rock Star by JL Berg Ryan and Kennedy both feel the immediate attraction when they meet but attitudes start them off in the wrong foot.
The Right Direction by Kathy Coopmans Roman and Joslyn grew up together and their passion was as hot as it gets. Coming into adulthood, their lives are going two different directions and they walk away. Years later, they're thrust together again and the fire is still just beneath the surface.
Rebel by Molly McAdams Maxon and Libby grew up together and fell in love together. Then he left. He always came back and she waited until she couldn't take it anymore. Macon won't give up. He's coming back to make her his for good.
Rocking the Racer by Erin Noelle Ashlynn and Milan had one night that left them both wanting more. A year later they're in the same place again and both want to take that leap.
Play Me by Jessica Prince Regan and Maddox feel the immediate list when their eyes meet. One night backstage leaves Maddox yearning for more and promising to hunt her down.
What about us? By Yessi Smith Brandon and Maria meet by chance and that's all it takes. Maria is barely keeping her head above water while trying to take care of her siblings. Brandon takes one look and sees the future with them in it. Not just her, he wants them all.
The Song by Rachel Van Dyken Gave and Saylor have finally made it only to add that special little someone into the mix. Heat, passion and all things baby mixed into one great short story.
To Feel Loved by Jennifer Van Wyk It takes one glance into the crowd for Brandon to fall for Savannah. But she fights it, knowing that no one has ever thought she was worthy enough to love. Brandon won't give up, he wants to love her enough to make up for it.
Cardinal Sins by Kristin Vayden Cardinal and Jaya have a history that burned hot and fizzled fast. Betrayal and anger surround the two. When thrown together again for a mutual purpose, they both know the flames are still burning, but can the past be forgiven?
Since this is a series of short stories about rock stars I am going to rate each one as I read them and do a over all rate at the end.
1. The Realtor and the Rock Star ... 3 stars ... super short quick story with a very abrupt ending.
2. The Right Direction ... 2 star ... story was ok, kind of confusing at first but then it gets interesting and bam the story stops ... it says the story continues Dec 6th and a link to buy the book. Yeah no, I feel cheated!
3. Rebel ... 5 stars ... since I already read the books that went along with this short story I loved it.
4. Rocking the Racer ... 4 stars ... I loved this steamy short and am thinking about reading the series it goes with.
5. Play Me ... 4 stars ... another great steamy short story, may read this series too.
6. What About Us? ... 5 stars ... absolutely loved this one! Great story with a great ending!
7. The Song ... 2 stars ... I felt that if I had read the books that this short went with I would have had a better understanding of what was going on.
8. To Feel Loved ... 1 star ... I feel sick reading this! Rock star seeing girl in crowd and then instantly attracted to her and within minutes is talking about getting to her and wanting to have sex. Really? I guess when you only have 30 pages to write a story you have to get to the nitty gritty real fast but I am not feeling it. I didn't even finish the short, just moved to the next one. I think I am over this whole book.
9. Cardinal Sins ... 3 stars ... I liked the whole autism plot but I didn't like the girl character Jaya.
My problems with this series of short stories is that some of these shorts go with a series and if you haven't read the series you really don't really know much. Also a few all you get is a snippet of the story and then it says to continue the story buy the book, really I bought this book and didn't get 9 whole short stories. A couple books have the same names for their characters, didn't someone sit and read them and realize this before hitting publish. I also found a few editing mistakes that annoy me.
I received an ARC at no cost to authors. I feel privileged to be able to contribute to this cause. I will break down the review and try to be as brief as possible.
The Realtor and the Rock Star
We meet Kennedy who is trying to by a house for herself for the very first time in her life due to her success as a rockstar. She ends up meeting Ryan in the elevator and he was instantly attracted and was going to blow his appointment with her (which he was unaware at the time) to take her out. As they start looking as the houses he picked out, they decide to act on attraction..Now we need to wait to see what happens next..
The Right Direction
Rockstar Roman is sitting in jail waiting to be bailed out, he was there because a paparazzi asked him a secret that he longed to keep and he attacked. The only woman he ever truly loved he planned on keeping her and the tragedy they had by not telling the world, but of course he could not keep it quiet. Joslyn ends up being his lawyer, and everything they ever felt was still there, but she never wanted the spot light. Ryan plans on doing whatever he can to rekindle their love, making sure he never loses her again..Can't wait for the rest.
Rebel
Libby has always waited for Maxon after his concert in the bar she works in, even though she always told him she wouldn’t for him. As Maxon is playing and staring at her the whole time he is angry because he has not been able to speak to her for months and he doesn't know why. Libby is heartbroken and wants nothing to do with him, but Maxon is determined to find out what happened for this turn around..
Rocking the Racer

What a fantastic way of raising money for a disease that not enough people know about.
This anthology features stories from 9 authors, each story features a rockstar. This was a great collaboration, and I have read authors that I'd never previously had the chance to read before. Each story left me wanting more, and now I need to go grab more books by these authors!

* A review copy was provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review *
This is an Anthology written by 9 various authors. All of them focus on a Rock Star Romance. I always find it hard to write reviews for anthologies, so I will provide a small review for of the short stories as I read them. I will leave an overall Star rating when I have completed all the stories. But each individual story will have their own star rating as well.
The Realtor and The Rock Star byJ.L. Berg ~ 4 Stars ~
This is a perfect way to introduce readers to J.L. Berg's writing. I have been a fan of hers since the beginning and I loved this little story. I actually hope she takes this short story and expands on it someday in the future to give us a full story for Ryan and Kennedy.
Kennedy is the Rock Star in this story and she is looking to finally making all her dreams come true by buying a new house in California. She only wants the best and that is Realtor Ryan Rhodes. This is a sweet story about chance meetings and where things go from there.
I will say that by the end I really just wanted more of this story!!! I think things were just getting interesting ;)
This was worth the read and like I said will give you a taste of J.L. Berg's books and hopefully start you on your enjoyable journey that her books take us on.
I have a thing about anthologies. I'm not a fan of novellas, but give me a collection of them bound together, and often my mind is changed. Once Upon A Rock Star was no exception! I have read 2 of the short stories so far, so I'm keeping my review to those. I'll add to this as I read more.
To Feel Loved by Jennifer Van Wyk (5 Stars)- I have loved the previous two books that Jennifer Van Wyk released, and I couldn't wait to see how she delved into rock star territory. And she did it so well, with characters that were already high on my list of favorites. This is Brandon's story. He and a few of his friends have a local following as a band, and his twin, Mia, brings one of her friends, Savannah, to a show. Their eyes meet, and the chemistry is instant. The author did a good job of invoking emotion and weaving in their past, all while allowing them to grow. I really loved this story!
The Realtor and the Rock Star by J.L. Berg (4.5 Stars)- this was a short short story about Kennedy, an up and coming girl rocker, who is in the process of trying to buy a house with the help of Ryan, her realtor. He is a total flirt, which Kennedy doesn't like at first, but they hit it off in the end.
I will continue to read the other stories in this anthology and will add to my review as I go! Worth the money, and worth the cause!
I am a huge fan of anthologies! You get to read all kinds of stories and meet new authors you may not have heard of yet, but when the anthology is for a good cause, well even better! Once Upon a Rock Star are short stories, teasers, visiting old friends and quick reads from nine authors coming together to support a great cause!
Yessi Smith, J.L. Berg, Kathy Coopmans, Molly McAdams, Erin Noelle, Jessica Prince, Rachel Van Dyken, Jennifer Van Wyk and Kristen Vayden came together to support a woman in our community. All proceeds will go directly to the G-Pact, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting patients and their families affected by Gastroparesis. What a great cause and a perfect example of paying it forward!
Once Upon A Rock Star gives us nine stories of rock stars and the lives that surround them. You know you love them! They are full of mischief, sex, romance and danger! Some stories are standalones, some are teasers for upcoming releases and some are introductions to author’s current books, but all of them are worth the read!
What was even more exciting for me? I met an author I am definitely going to look for more off! I had never read Yessi Smith before and I loved her short story, What About Us. This story really pulled me in. I loved the characters and the story!
Overall a great anthology with rock stars we can’t help but love! A great read for a great a cause!
Review is for The Right Direction by Kathy Coopmans....
This snippet of Kathy's next book is just enough to make you immediately pre-order the complete novel that releases in December.
We get just a glimpse of the story of Roman and Joselyn and the whirlwind story that is sure to unfold. I love a second chance romance and this is sure to be one of Kathy's best books yet.
We don't get much of their story yet so my review can't be very long but we do see that Roman left when he and Joselyn were young to have a career as a rock star. Many years pass before these two see each other again. Roman has gotten himself into some trouble and his manager finds him a new attorney...none other than his beautiful Joselyn.
I can't wait to see what happens for these two. In just the few chapters you get here, you can feel the chemistry between them coming off the pages.
The Right Direction by Kathy Coopmans ✯✯4 Stars!!!✯✯
Kathy Coopmans is giving us a snippet of her next release The Right Direction and what a beginning. I'm looking forward to getting the whole story.
Roman and Josyln have been best friends since they met in their foster home. What started as a friendship turned lovers. They planned on spending the rest of their lives together.
When Roman's singing got him a one way ticket to stardom their lives changed. They promised each other that things wouldn't change. While worrying on the inside. When a secret and then an accident happens and Josyln runs.
They haven't seen or spoken in years. But, they still keep tabs on the other. Roman is a famous rock star, whose recently divorced. Josyln is a hotshot attorney. But, when somebody has an ax to grind against one of them they do what they know will hurt the most. Attack them both. Now they're together for the first time in years. If only it was that easy.
I can't wait for the rest of Roman and Josyln's story. Because, it feels like there is so much more to this story.
Awe! I loved this short story. I don’t want to get into it too much but I will say that if you are a fan of Rachel Van Dyken’s Seaside Pictures and Ruin series’ this is a must read. It’s cute, fun, and sexy. If you haven’t read the series’ or even anything by RVD then read it. It will give you a small glimpse to her wonderful writing and characters.
🌟Rocking the Racer By Erin Noelle 5 Hearts
Holy fucking hotness! That was one sexy as sin ride. I have only read a few books by Erin but after this I need to add more to my list. Especially the series that has these characters.
I always enjoy reading anthologies because it gives me an opportunity to read authors I wouldn't normally pick up.
In Rachel Van Dyken's "Song", we get to catch up with Gabe and Skylar as they are about to welcome their first child. He is also on a deadline for a new song. There's also a visit from all of the Seaside gang, Wes and Keirsten and even a reference to our new friends at the Bellevue Bucks football team.
As usual with every Van Dyken story, I completely fell in love with the whole gang again.
If you know anything about me, it should be that I’m a huge Molly McAdams fangirl. When I heard that Libby from the Redemption Series was getting a novella I jumped at the chance to read it. I loved getting to see the Borello’s again and getting to see more of Libby’s story. The fact that her HEA comes at the hands of a rock star that has always loved her and always comes back for her was the cherry on the top. I absolutely loved Maxon from the moment I met him. This story is a wonderfully fast and sexy read!!!
The Song by Rachel Van Dyken
I'm assuming this is after the HEA... if it is, can someone point me in the right direction? I'm in love with Gabe and Saylor and I need to know more about them if that story is out there. Also, all their friends! They have an amazing friend group and I loved every second we spent with them. I just want to know more about all of them. As for The Song, it was short, it was sweet, it was beautiful. It pointed at the rewards of making it through the tough times to really enjoy the good and I completely love that message.
Play Me by Jessica Prince
OMG this!!!! I’m in love with this novella and can’t wait for more Reagan and Maddox. The responsible girl and the rockstar has never looked so good!
So many of my favourite authors plus a heartfelt note from Jill Sava are in this anthology for a great cause. Proceeds from this book go to G-Pact (a non-profit organization for people with Gastroparesis). Some of the stories are complete with an HEA, but some are just a tease of more to come, so keep that in mind. Here's my review of most of the stories:
I’ve just read Kathy Coopmans’ addition to this anthology and I loved it. It’s basically leading you into her next book, The Right Direction. I’ve read most of the other authors included before so I’ll definitely read the rest along with the other maybe 2 authors that I haven’t read before. Great lineup of authors on this one so I know it’ll be worth it.
What an amazing set of rock star stories. Found some new authors to read. Could not put this down had to see where all the stories would go. There were some amazing twists and turns in these stories. A must read.
First and foremost the wonderful women this book was done for Jill Sava is amazing and I just need to say that. Everyone single on of these stories is amazing and I need more of each of them lol. I hope everyone gets this book
