Yes I would like to perhaps forget all the time and energy I spent carefully reading the contents of this book, specifically for the National Counselor Exam. This book has all the information that was covered when I got my Masters in Psychology. I waited over a decade to complete my post graduate hours and to finally take this exam.
There were facts in this book that are very basic but there are also sections that go over specific changes in laws for different groups of humans and all the dates and details felt like it was so much information. I studied every day 4 hours or more for a month before taking the exam. I was nervous and guess what? I passed on my first attempt. If I had gotten just a couple more answers wrong, then I would have failed and would need to re-take which from what I learned, is not that uncommon.
In conclusion, mixed review - I dislike this book because I feel some of the information is tedious and it felt like memorizing facts for a multiple choice exam (actually that's what it is). But I also am glad that I purchased and invested the time reading in order to pass the NDE and eventually get my LMHC!
It is wasn’t an interesting study guide but it is very thorough and the practice exam in the back was helpful. I’d recommend it to supplement your studying. Good luck! 🍀
