Sometimes love finds you whether you want it to or not…Grace Clark is a star at her job as an art director at Boston’s biggest advertising firm. But inside she’s still mourning the loss of her sister two years ago. Losing Mia and a failed engagement have been enough to keep her heart on lockdown ever since. Luke Arnold is tired of relationships that don’t go anywhere. Usually women are all over him, but it’s been years since he’s met someone he could really fall for. But when he sees Grace from across the room at the Redview Lodge, he can’t keep his eyes off her. They meet in the New Hampshire mountains over Thanksgiving, and they find in one another something that neither of them expected. All of the sizzling books in the Great Escapes series can be read in any order.
I am happy to call the San Francisco Bay Area home, where I lives with my husband, two kids, one dog and three cats. I started writing at an early age, but have only been writing novels for the past five years. I love the idea of love conquering all, and that is what drove me to begin the Great Escapes series, where the reader follows couples meeting up in exotic locations around the world. In this series, each book is a stand-alone, and each can be read in any order.
But readers, be forewarned, there is a healthy amount of steam in these books!
Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy Great Escapes!
I enjoyed this book but it would have been better if the MC wasn't so difficult. I get that she was going through a hard time. However, the guy had lost more than her and yet he was coping better. She was into him and everyone knew it. Yet she continually lied to push him away. It got old after awhile. If things hadn't worked out in the end I would have disliked this book very much. Thankfully most authors believe in giving us readers a happy ending.
I was super disappointed by this one, unfortunately. There was a LOT of telling and not a lot of showing, the dialogue was super awkward, and the views on mental health were problematic. I flew through it, but I probably won't be recommending it to anyone anytime soon.
Falling for You centres around the lasting effects of depression, denial and escapism.
Grace is a successful Art Director for a reputable company. She went through a severe bout of depression after a break up. Therapy and medication helped, but her younger sister and best friend was her real strength. A tragic accident changed that. Now, she buries herself into her work and it takes great effort to cope with the rest of her life. She continues with her therapy and depends on her medication to be able to function. She has a good friend and her parents are supportive, but she keeps them at arm length.
Luke owns a construction business and he too has been through his fair share of loss and pain.
Grace goes to a luxury lakeside holiday resort with her parents for Thanksgiving. A change of scenery is just what they need. She meets Luke who is attracted to her and they embark on what she sees as a fling. She feels something for him too, but trust doesn't come easily. Will she give him the benefit of the doubt and trust that not all men are cheaters?
This is a dark story where depression takes over from living life to the full. It's sad to see grace wallowing in so much misery. Her therapist does her best to help her pull out of this dark hole, but she can only do so much. Grace has to want to help herself too. She is afraid of the stigma attached to depression, should anyone find out that she is on treatment. She has a negative approach to everything. There might be a touch of paranoia as she believes that one of her colleagues is after her downfall. She failed to warn her about a contractor! Luke's way of coping with his losses is more positive. He is kind and patient and wants to help, but she keeps pushing him away.
It's sensual and well portrayed, but the negativity is depressing. The ending is positive, but a little abrupt. A fairly good read.

Sometimes a book has the power to overtake your world and as a result, make you realize how precious life truly is. Falling For You by Charlotte Blake had that affect on me. The prologue is its own shocking and tragic roller coaster, which drew me right into this heartfelt and powerful read. I recommend keeping a box of tissues handy, because sobbing throughout this amazing read is inescapable.
Grace Clark is a top ad executive in Boston. Due to two major tragedies in her life, she finds it very difficult to cope at times. Thanksgiving is especially brutal, because she lost her younger sister during this same time two years ago. Spending the holiday at a luxurious resort in New Hampshire, is just what she and her parents need to make some new memories. Grace happens to notice Luke Arnold staring at her from across the room at Redview Lodge. They end up sharing secrets, hiking, and spending most of their nights wrapped up in each other. Luke is a romantic and it has been a long time since Grace was wooed.
Although Luke finds owning and managing his construction company fulfilling, he cannot get Grace out of his mind. So he tries everything in his power to get her to realize how in love he is with her. It takes a miracle, but Grace finally realizes what a good and trusting man Luke is, which results in their happily ever after.
Wow, what an amazing and heartbreaking read. I finished this book a few hours ago, yet it took me a while to pull myself together in order to write a review. Only a few books have ever caused me to be contemplative and overwhelmingly raw, which this one does stunningly. This is a well-written book that should not be missed.

I loved the synopsis, I really thought I'd enjoy this read but...while I didn't dislike it, it just didn't really appeal.
Its hard to say why this wasn't a great read for me. Its a well written novel, the characters are like-able and the story was very genuine and sad, but it was just one where I found myself skipping ahead- even those steamy, sensual bits - to get to a part with some "meat" in, something for me to really get engrossed in. And sadly I just didn't find it :-(
Its a perfect light romance with some serious heat, and the backstory is very sad, but somehow there was never that magic Must-Keep-Reading moment for me, nothing that made it a book I couldn't put aside for something that held my interest more. It doesn't/won't put me off trying more from Charlotte, its a well written story - just that this story didn't work for me. It could be perfect for you, will be perfect for many readers. Horses for courses and all that....
Stars: 2.5/3. Its a well written story but one where the content just didn't fit me and my taste.

Well written story about a cheating ex-boyfriend, losing a sibling and to face the future and leave the past behind you. Grace has not had the best experience with boyfriends and she also losses her sister. It all makes her break down and she has to struggle a lot to embrace her future. Luke is really trying to help her but you can only help people who wants the help. It annoyed me that Grace was so consistent with her grief and problems that she could not see anything else or would not see it. But the story has some topics that are real life. I like the aspects but sometimes they could have been included better and more detailed.

This was an exceptional read. I was a little confused on the beginning, but after a little while I completely understood that it was a necessary part of the story. Grace has shut herself off from everything that could hurt her and is scared to death of being out of control. After all she'd been through, it was hard for her to allow herself to even think of being happy. Luke is determined to be there for her even if she doesn't want him to be. He's distant when it's warranted, but pushes when she needs it...until she's too scared and pushes back. This is definitely a book I'll be recommending to friends and family. Falling for You (Great Escapes Book 1) by Charlotte Blake This is Grace Clark and Luke Arnold’s story.
Grace and her family have been through so much heartache. She meets Luke but isn’t sure she can trust again. The story was just okay for me. I struggled staying interested in the story. There was some hot scenes but overall tone of the story was just too sad.
FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Grace caught her fiancee cheating on her a few months before their wedding then her sister dies. She feels broken and doesn't want to associate with too many people so she buries herself in her work. She meets Luke, but she can't move on from her past and she doesn't want to get hurt again. Good story about overcoming depression and finally picking up the pieces to move on. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
I really can relate to this feeling of brokenness that grace feels after losing her sister. Like she might not deserve the love that’s being offered. Which isn’t true everyone deserves love it’s just hard to be open to it and something going wrong. That’s the challenge of love is that it could completely break you. Luke is a pretty steadfast fellow and he definitely fights for graces love.
Language: PG+ (6+ swears, 0+ "f"); Mature Content: R (sex); Violence: PG Not even halfway through, I quit reading as the sexual content started getting risque. My quitting was partly for the content and partly because I was annoyed by the main characters' relationship -- mostly the lack thereof outside of their sexual tension. The story was not interesting to read about.
Grace has been through a lot of loss and no longer feels worthy of love. Luke has been through the same kind of loss but has opened his heart to Grace, only to be rejected. Luke has a big heart and is determined to wait for Grace to change her mind.
I enjoyed this interesting love story. Each of them have suffered the loss of family they loved and the loss of trust in others. These losses can be crippling but, they can also be overcome with courage.
