Dirty Angels MC #2

Down & Dirty: Jag

Rate this book
Welcome to Shadow Valley where the Dirty Angels MC rules. Get ready to get Down & Dirty because this is Jag’s story…

The only thing Jag, DAMC Road Captain, loves more than his custom bike is Ivy. He’s wanted her ever since he could remember. However, through the years, he’s had to watch her date anyone but him. Even though she was raised in the club, she avoids dating bikers like the plague. Instead, she gravitates toward the complete opposite: geeks and nerds. Something Jag will never be.

Smart and always independent, Ivy wants to be the property of no man. Growing up in the club, she knows firsthand how they treat women. She regrets the mistake she made by dragging Jag upstairs to his room at the club one drunken night. Ever since then, she’s been doing her best to keep him at arm’s length, though it’s proven difficult. Especially when she finds out his secret, which only endears her to him even more.

Between secrets, lies, and a violent tangle with a rival club, can the passionate, but headstrong pair find the love and solace they’re looking for in each other’s arms? Or will everything just tumble down around them?

Note: This book can be read as a standalone. It includes lots of steamy scenes, biker slang, cursing, some violence and, of course, an HEA. If you like alpha males who like to take charge, this book is for you.

I didn't really care for the first book. It was weak on plot and the hero didn't listen to the heroine at all. She would say no and he would just do what ever the fuck he wanted. I didn't feel their relationship. Still I was willing to read one more book to give the series a good try. The plot is still weak. The sex sucked because the hero Jag, and the heroine Ivy treat each other like shit, call each other names like whores, bitch, dick etc.. They both have watched each other fuck numerous other people and rub it in each other faces while tearing each other down. Even balls deep in the heroine Jag calls her a whore. I'm done with this crap. If it had been deeper. More plot, character, and relationship development I may have cared enough about them to deal with the stupid drama but I don't care, so I'm out.

Jag and Ivy are one crazy couple. They grew up in the mc family. Jag loves Ivy and she loves him however she fighting it. She knows what comes with being an ol'lady and even though it's an honor she don't wanna be anyone's property. Can Jag convince her and show her his love?? Will they over come the trouble headed their way and find peace?? Read and find out how one sexy alpha shows what it means to be a badass biker who loves.

This book was a mess and for most of it Ivy was a complete unlikeable bitch.
She was brought up in the DAMC but doesn’t want to be the property of any man. Plus she knows how the club views and treats women. She’s attracted to Zak but he’s taken. She’s also got a thing for Jag but treats him like crap through most of the book.
She complains about the women Jag has but then has a revolving door on her bedroom.

We’re also told repeatedly how smart she is. Yes she went to college and did well but there’s a huge difference between book smart and real life smart. And this book shows she hasn’t got any of the second.

I couldn’t stand Ivy and after a while I didn’t really like Jag. Mainly because of his bad taste in women.

Yet again this book had more sex than story and it’s apparent that the story started in Zak is going to run through the whole series. Things could change but from what I’ve seen so far there’s not enough story to go around.

Alright, this book wasn't well thought out at all. I'm going to outline why so my rating makes sense which might be spoilery but whatever.

1. Ivy (heroine) was born into the MC, is a "member" weather she likes it or not. Mostly she loves the MC. What she has a problem with is the misogynistic mindset of the male members.

Contradiction: Ivy has had a "crush" on the ex "Prez" Zak her entire life and would have banged him/tossed her "no bikers" rule aside in a heartbeat had he been down with that (he's wasn't/isn't).

2. She does not ever want to be "owned" and therefore only "dates" men that are not in hers or any other MC.

Contradiction: Zak. (See above) She also has a scene in the previous book where she steps away from her "date" to kiss Zak and cause problems with his heroine. Classy.

3. To proove that she's just as "free" as the male members she has a "revolving door" of men and is racking up quite the score card to the point her uncle and brother are concerned (like, lots/the same type of uncountable numbers your typical manwhore hero racks up).

Contradiction: She constantly talks badly VERY badly about the girls who hang around the bikers. Calling them skanks, whores etc... Um...? But you? If it's such a great thing to fuck your way through life why is she hating on other girls who do the same exact thing? This is where authors fuck up writing "experienced" heroines. You don't see manwhore hero's hating on other guys for getting laid, why do authors have to make women so judgy and mean?

4. We're also told she's very smart. Like book smart/did well in school etc.

Contradiction: We never actually see any examples of her being smart.. infact we see the exact opposite through the ENTIRE book.

5. Jag (hero) has apparently loved Ivy since they were kids but just stood back and watched her "revolving door" while maning his own. It bothers him that she's as... "free" as he is and comments on it several times even though he knows it's a double standard.

Contradiction: In one breath he's calling her a whore (to her face) and a bitch in the next he's thinking how smart and loyal she is... Yeah, you read right.

So, basically we have two people hate fucking each other for an entire book and belittling each other for their questionable and numerous previous partners THEN they're talking about getting married and having babies. Yeah. If these were real people I'd be horrified at the thought of them breeding.

I skipped the sex scenes after the first one because all they did was think about how many other people the other was with during it. Yeah, not romantic/my jam.

I hated this book but after reading the blurbs for the books after it I think they improve so I'm going to read the next one. Even my most favorite authors have written a book I didn't like mixed in with the others I loved so I'll try one more because I am interested in the other characters and the story. If it sucks though that's the third strike for this author and I bounce.

2 Jag and Ivy Stars

This is the second book in the Dirty Angels MC series and focuses on Jag, the Road Captain and Ivy who is bound to the club by family ties. Ivy is doing everything she can to not be tied to a Biker. Jag is doing everything he can to get Ivy to be his.

This book felt very formulaic and similar to the previous book in respect of the heroines in particular. Again,I found myself not liking the heroine very much at all. Ivy is really horrid to Jag at times and although he is no saint , I felt he deserved a kinder heroine.

There is an interesting sub plot concerning the hierarchy of the MC and I do want to know how
that will turn out but I am finding the heroine's hard work. Also, and I cannot believe I am saying this , but I feel that there is too much sex in the book. I like a build up and crackling chemistry between the H/h but the theme of these books is very much that the heroine thinks the Hero is beneath her (lol - he soon is - literally speaking!) and she can't be with a man like him but within hours they are having sex. Also, the story gets a bit pushed to the side because they are going at it on every available surface all the time. It's happened in both books.

I did like Jag - he is a bit gruff and rough around the edges but his loyalty and the sweetness underneath the surface make him more likeable than the heroine. The same with Zak from the first book.

I think I will try the next one but if that doesn't work then I may leave the other books for now.
Damn my need to read all the books in a series once I start....

HEA? No - HFN and I am not convinced these two would last.
Cheating? No but in the previous book Jag was seen by everyone (including Ivy) having sex on a couch with a Club girl. Jag and Ivy were not together then. In this book , Ivy is referenced being at a party and hanging all over Zak , who she freely admits she has always had a crush on. Zak apparently prised her off but bear in mind that his fiancee was upstairs asleep and it's Jag that tells Ivy all of this the next morning when she is hungover. Plus Ivy has a lot of inner monologues about how hot other guys are. Jag is all about Ivy.

Jag and Ivy are club kids, born and raised in the club environment. They're not teenagers, they're late twenties. He's always loved her and, to be honest, I couldn't tell if she's always loved him. I don't think so. He really grovels. That's not to say he's done anything wrong to grovel for. Yes, he had sex with a club ho before they committed but she had a steady stream of guys (non-bikers) in and out of her bed. He pursues her until he really lost all of his self respect. She came across as a spoiled princess who repeatedly claimed she didn't want to be DASM property but she never made an effort to disassociate herself from the club. Over half of the book was angry, combative sex where Ivy just wanted Jag to f**k her, not make love to her but just do the dirtiest sex he could and then get up and leave and don't come back until I call you. Yeah, she was one strong ass heroine but not really likable. There were some likable parts of this book but overall it didn't do it for me.

Okay.. so I was scared to read this one because I had no type of feelings regarding Jag, and I could not stand Ivy based on book 1 and the reviews for her own book.

I was very surprised with how much I loved this book. Ivy and Jag were.. yin and yang to me.. Explosive and crazy. Even frustrating. But still amazing to watch. They had heart. Heat. And mutual deep compassion for one another. Considering how I thought this book would go, compared to where it actually went for me, I am extremely pleased with what I got to witness here.

I do totally get why alot of people could not stand Ivy, cause I was one of them. Based on how she related to Jag and why, though, & I've read some pretty unreasonable heroines in this regard. IMO, Ivy didn't come close to them. So I was able to grow to like her and love her with Jag.

The story surrounding them wasn't boring either. Though nothing much happened to really move the secondary plots along.. I did cry though when Jag's bike was destroyed and in the manner it was destroyed 😢 That was just beyond cold.

My main gripe with this book and book 1 though, is, one thing that's really annoying me is the Author's constant erroneous placement of "CHURCH" in the context that she uses it, in the biker world. Church is not the clubhouse where everyone hangs out. It's the meeting room where the MC members go to discuss club business and strategy. Every time this author uses this term in the wrong context, which is often in these books, has me like😤... I really hope that the Author catches on and this is corrected as the series progresses.

Based on books 1 and 2, I would recommend this series to my fellow MC story lovers.

This one was ok for me. I didn't like how Jag treated Ivy and quite frankly she wasn't much better in how she treated him. There seems to be some political maneuvering going on to get Zak back to be president, which seems like a good thing. Pierce comes off as a huge POS. I also find I'm interested in the bad blood with the other MC.

These two annoyed me to no end. First, she knew what she was doing when she went crawling into his bed. Then got all mad when he decides to join her in his bed. She makes it super obvious she wants him but also comes off like she wants him to beg just so she can keep telling him that he isn't good enough despite her her having the emotional maturity of a child. She even continues going after Zak when he already has a girl and she repeatedly says she isn't interested.
Jag seems to have zero pride. Every time he told her no and that random hook ups weren't good enough I wanted to cheer for him. Then she gives him just enough of a hint that she may care about him just a little some day and he goes right back. I did love that he was an artist in the end. It added some depth to his character.

A great second installment of the Dirty Angels MC series. I love Ivy's strength, brains and determination to NOT become an Ol' Lady. She wants more for herself. She wants more for Jag. Their chemistry is hot and real and the sex is steaming. It took me a while to warm up to Jag, but in the end, he won me over and I was rooting for them. Anxiously awaiting the next book... come on, JSJ, give me Diesel, you know I want Diesel!

****I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.****

He's been in love with Ivy like forever. She's one badass, hardheaded, strong woman who doesn't want to bow down to a man, who doesn't want to be the property of a man, and will fight the biker life tooth and nail. Yeah, tell me how that works out for you. I'm glad she finally saw the light where Jag was concerned even though she's sticking to her guns about being the property of. Good for her. I did feel sorry for Jag throughout the story, especially when his baby was destroyed the same night he thought he lost Ivy. Good read, Ivy broke a big rule (read to find out), and I really really hope they get Pierce out as Prez. Okay, now, onto Hawk's read. I read the first chapter at the end of this book, and all I can say is OMG.

Ivy doesn’t want a “brother.” She REFUSES!! She doesn’t care that she has this amazing tension with Jag; he’s a brother and she doesn’t want that life- doesn’t wanna be an “ol’ lady” or deal with the headache of being with a brother- especially being treated as property who has no say in what’s going on. She wants to be independent and live her life like she wants to, even though the brotherhood is in her blood. So what does she do? She gets with the complete OPPOSITE of a brother- nerdy, techy, intellectual type of guys. If you’ve read book 1, you see her dating a guy named Adam and you also see Jag getting it on with Blondie in the middle of a room while people are watching and you see that these two are into each other and are maybe doing this on purpose since they make eye-contact while it’s happening. Anyways, I digress, my point is that they want each other, and the chemistry is THICK, so palpable that it can be cut with a knife. And I was here for it all.

So, what happened? Apparently, she gave in one night (before this book) when she was drunk and they were intimate; now he won’t let her forget it and knows they belong together, but she still denies they are anything, and he’s ready to prove her wrong (👏🏻yes Jag yes 🔥). I mean, their connection is undeniable - everyone knows she’s his woman, and she just doesn’t want to admit it. And although it might seem that he’s too tough, he’s really not. In fact, something gets revealed about halfway through the book that just made my insides puddle. So sweet, so romantic, yet erotic and passionate. Jag is more than what he seems, and I loooooved it. I got emotional in this book, too; just the right amount.

A quick and dirty read! 🔥

I didn’t enjoy Jag & Ivy’s story quite as much as Zak & Sophie’s, but it was still entertaining for a fast MC fix. 🏍️

If you’re into MC romance, you’ll recognize the lingo, but this series could use its own biker dictionary. 😂 Bikes = sleds, condoms = wraps, and instead of Church being the meeting room, the entire clubhouse is called Church. Different, but it works.

What tripped me up was Ivy. She grew up in the life, lived the life… yet suddenly doesn’t want Jag because of the life? 🤔 On top of that, it felt like Jag was her second choice since she’d been crushing on Zak (from book 1) forever. Poor Jag deserved better. 💔

That said, the side plots are building, and the smut is smuttier than ever. 🔥😏 All in all, not as strong as the first, but still a solidly entertaining read.

Jag and Ivy have known each other since kids. Ivy though being an MC brat doesn't embrace wanting to be an ole lady and the demeaning ways women are treated (less than). She wants to have a voice and be partners and so while shes feeling that connection to Jag she fights it at every turn.

The sparks fly between them and the push and pull between then is steamy.

Great second book.

Jag is book two of the DAMC....I enjoyed this story; main characters were interesting and their storyline was perfect. Ivy is stubborn, demanding and listens to know one. Jag has loved Ivory for years and he finally steps up to make his claim. Ivy will fight him every step but she cant seem to resist his charms.
Things are getting crazy for DAMC...rival clubs want their territory and DAMC is preparing for war.
Overall if you haven't read Down & Dirty...Jag I suggest you get on it but start with Zak and follow from there.. this can be read as a standalone but you might miss information regarding the main storyline the author is building from book to book. Happy Reading!!

I am going to say it…. MC books are usually not my cup of tea because of the male standard, some authors do it and can do it well. Jeanne St. James is one of them I loved this book!

Ivy doesn’t want to be claimed nope no way. (You go girl) She fights her feelings only because she knows it’s a man’s world so to speak in the MC but her heart feel before she did and Jag was just too irresistible.

Also for me, I don’t like drama for the sake of drama so this book was perfect nothing felt forced, there weren’t situations that happened just because the author needed to fill some pages. (Thanks for that!)

Jag... Oh, Jag I think you're my favorite. His dirty mouth (YES please) gave me the tingles, hey I am only human.
I enjoyed the fact that he was willing to fight and LISTEN to her. He might not have agreed all the time but he listened and took in account her thoughts and feelings.

Oh, the narration... I swear to god I thought Ava’s man voice was really a man... DANG man when she Jag’s it was AMAZING. And C.J. Mission is new to me and I loved his voice. I will be looking for more you can count on that.

I didn't like the heroine AT ALL—such a disappointment.

Zak's book was good; I liked him and Sophie together. But Jag and Ivy? Hell no. Why he gave her the time of day after how she treated him, and her awful judgment fueled my dislike of her. She talked crap about the sweet butts as if she were better than them. When really, she wasn't with her many conquests. She drooled over Zak forever and even when he had a woman he loved. Her thighs clenched, watching Axel eating a cupcake, and she even had pleasant thoughts about the tattoo guy, whatever his name was. Why in the hell do I want to read about that when she's supposed to be with Jag? Jag is the hero for FFS. He was too good for her, and I wish he would have come to his senses about her. Yet, at the end of the book, they miraculously get an HEA.

I'm so hesitant to move onto Hawk's book next. This is only the second book I've read by St. James. If the next isn't any better, I'll be done.

Getting to know more about the club and who's who and who does what. Ivy has been raised around the club and is considered MC property which she hates with a passion. She is not shy about telling members that she will never be an ol' lady and especially not wear a property patch. This club is not like any other MC books I've read. They don't respect the women but instead call them all bitches. Something I don't like about this series. Also they call their club house "church " where as most only call their meeting room church.
Jag has been crazy about Ivy for years and years. He has been waiting not so patiencely for her to figure out that she wants and needs him. Instead she dates nerds...someone who she looks at as normal. Everything changes after she gets drunk at one of their parties. She has a lot to figure and.
Something is unclear with the president also but can't figure it out yet. Hopefully it will come about before not too many.

5 star review of Down & Dirty: Jag Dirty Angels  MC #2 by Jeanne St James
Audio Review
From start to finish Jeanne St John and the narrators Ava Lucas and C J Mission
drew me in and kept my attention. I really love Ms. St James’s style of writing, she packs such a punch into her characters.
Jag and Ivy are so meant to be together. Jag has wanted her forever and is frustrated when she refuses to commit to him. All she wants is a physical relationship. I loved how Ivy was feisty and wasn’t afraid to stand up for her beliefs but she put herself in danger. Will Ivy be strong enough and finally take a leap of faith or will she run? I absolutely adore her but it is Jag who captured my attention and heart.
This story flowed well and was full of drama, humour and some mighty fine chemistry between Jag and Ivy that absolutely blew me away.

Love. Love. Love. Jag and Ivy are an intense heat. Erotic passion and heat with a bite of danger.

Ivy had her taste of MC life and she had no plans on going back in to it to be someone whore or ol’ lady. But there was something about Jag that tempted her. Jag dreamed of only one woman. She just so happens to want nothing to do with the MC. Now, Jag on the other hand seems to stir something hot, primal within her. She does what she vowed not to do.

Jag and Ivy together was passion, heat, desire, explosive. Dirty Angels MC has won me over with just one punch. I must head back to book one of this series to be prepared for the next one. I want some Zak, Diesel, and Hawk. I am excited to see what else comes.

I enjoyed this book mostly because of Jag. Yes he's a badass alpha biker but he's loves hard. Ivy was such a bitch. I had a hard time connecting with her. I couldn't understand how she was raised in the MC loved the guys family but didn't want to be anyone's property. I was like bitch please 🙄. Jag has loved Ivy for a long time. He had to watch her pine after Zak and bring her nerdy boyfriends around. She was so cold to Jag at times I was hoping he would go find someone else. I'm glad she took the stick out of her ass and saw the amazing guy that was in front of her all this time. I'm glad everything worked out.

I really liked this one. Jag and Ivy. .... and Jag's secret was awesome

Growing up in the club, Ivy was determined to NOT be an old lady and dated anyone but a biker. Jag had been eyeing Ivy for some time, but until one night he got everything he wanted only for it to be over the next day. There is a lot of push and pull between these two. We get some more drama with the MC in the continuing story line arc.

I will definitely read more of this series

A must read if you enjoy a hard core biker romance. This one has it all, romance, suspense, thrill and an independent woman that doesn’t want to fall for the bad boy. This book will keep you up way past your bedtime!

Not as much fun as the first book. A lot of baggage between these characters and a lot of setting up relationships for other books.
