Alphy needs a guide, a pilot, and a companion. Who knew that Lexo could fit all requirements?
Alone on a station with only the voices in her head, Alphy needs to get in touch with the humans who are left out in space, and that means moving her ship. The trouble that she has is that the station was never designed to be flown by someone who didn’t even have a driving license.
Lexo has only been out of stasis for less than a week, but he jumps at the chance to leave his sister and her lover behind to seek out the bliss of the stars once again. Programmed to rage against the enemy, he must work to keep himself calm when confronted with a woman who activates his nervous system on sight. Lust has to take a back seat to the flight of the station; he just needs to find out what the huge ship is actually designed to do.
When Alphy finds out that there have been changes made to her systems, she must face being a freak among cyborgs with her altered design.
This book belongs to another survivor and brings in book one's heroine's brother as the romantic interest. Both books have the requisite hunky heroes but the women are definitely the center of the plot. The reader is teased with glimpses of things to come... It's not a cliff hanger but you definitely know more books are coming!
I'm digging the latest stories from this author - they've always been entertaining but they just seem better than usual now. I sure do miss getting a new book every two weeks, though.
I liked this installment as well, but the author still hasn't fixed the stilted dialogue sentence structure. I understand why the hero wouldn't use conjunctions but the heroine and other characters did as well. Also, I noticed this in the first book but there are a few time or scene hops that just gloss over things.
Like why would Lexo be thawed out then IMMEDIATELY be sent out? I thought that Stitch was worried that the frozen cyborgs would need to be carefully watched? And if there was enough time then the author should have mentioned it. I also don't know why Stitch would allow her brother out of her site after believing he was dead for so many years!
There was just little time/scene skips like that this that I think the author expected readers to just flow along with her, but it needed to have more clarity for this book to really shine.
Having said that I'm looking forward to the third book because again the premise is good and it has me hooked.
Great story, worth the wait. Alphy is communication and quartermaster. She manages the living archive, or the thee brains in a jar. Trell, Onic, and Dues hold the collective knowledge of Earth. When Alphy learns that Earth has sealed its self off and abandoned those fighting the Splice, she heads her astroid to Splices base. Splice knowing Alphy, send her help in the form of her brother. Hoping the her brother and one of her best friends hit it off, is a bonus. Lexo is a pilot and navigator and one of the first super soldiers. His sister did some serious deprogramming and up grades. Lexo and Alphy hit it off, and with the help of the guys in the jar she alters their ship to kickass war ship. Once they pick up Stitch and her gang along with Alguth, they head off to get Lucky. A fun, fast paced, and funny story. Can't with for Lucky's story.
Love the story I love the way it's progressing and it's very exciting I can hardly wait for the next one the ladies are awesome and I can hardly wait to see how it ends I'm anxious to see lucky
I liked this book, which surprises me because the romance is kinda meh in it. But there is quite of bit of more intriguing things going on. I'm not going to spoil it but when a secret is revealed about the heroine, it blew my mind. It was something totally new and amazing.
I'm still thinking about it.
And that makes this a book worth reading. It's not the greatest romance - yet- I get the idea this couple's issues will be worked out in the future. Nope, not a toe-curling romance.
But....It is damn good sci-fi and it furthers the overall arc of the series.
