Wild Card

Rate this book
Arden Calais knew she was different. Adopted as an infant, she'd kept her differences hidden- until one cold night when her world shattered. Now she was in the crosshairs of the people who hunted her kind down for their own profit, and she was running out of time.

Jack knew why they were different- and he'd spent years hiding in plain sight, as he built an empire to keep his people safe. Drawn to Arden by both a sense of duty and a debt unpaid, he was willing to do anything to keep her safe, even if it meant putting himself onto the deadly radar of Q7.

Wild Card sets the stage for the game. The players are masters of deceit and intrigue, moving human pawns across the board, and cities may burn in the wake of their plays. The prize is up for grabs- who will rule the world?

This book is a must read.
I enjoyed the characters and their interactions, with each other. The storyline is amazing.
Some of my favorite characters is Arden. She makes you feel like your on pins and needles, it’s an eerie feeling. She is considered dangerous and unpredictable, as a super human.
She checked herself in a mental institution, to try and suppress her powers deep inside her. She figured that was the only way, she could protect herself and others.
My all-time favorite character is Dr. Bryant. He starts off a little naive, about Arden’s case in the beginning. The more he spends time, with Arden. He really listens, to what she needs and to help her cope, with her powers.
Dr. Taylor is my least favorite character. The first time Dr. Reid mentioned Dr. Taylor. I had an immediate unease about her. The more I learned how her so-called treatments work. I despise her more and more.
The character development on her was spot on.
This is amazing.
Go check it out.

WOW! Just finished "Wild Card" and I must say, I found it to be a great read. I am not normally into that genre even though it is very popular now. But in no time at all I had become completely caught up in the story. The characters were clearly defined and remained so throughout the novel. No deviation to cause a distraction. The writing is clear, and crisp, and remained so to the very end. And speaking of the end, when it came, I was completely caught off guard. It wasn't what I expected at all. Good show, Kelly Gabriels!

This was a first time read for this author. This book was not my normal read. I was hooked by the second page. I love how this author made me feel like I was a ghost hovering around the characters and in the middle of the action. Dr. Bryant captured my heart right away. Arden was my champion, and Amilya is the devil. I can't wait until the next book is released and find out what Jack is up to. My question is who will win this war? I CAN'T wait for Devil's Tower book 2.
