Saving Her by R.R. Banks.
4 stars.
Standalone.
So... it took me a while to finish this book 'cause of some stuff going on but, it was a light reading. I enjoyed the characters and their roll in the book.
This book is about a woman that was sold by her parents to a religious cult but, it's not that simple, this cult was run by an abusive, murderer, pedophile man. He ran this facility brainwashing the "weak ones" with promises of drugs and money, louring the ones who needed more help into that facility that, once you were in, you no longer could get out.
This man used his power in there to abuse and use young girls as sex slaves, which he called them "wives" (they were thirteen!!).
So, in the beginning of this book, I was a little impressed with the dark subject presented. It took me a while to get used to some dark stuff brought in this book but, I understood that it was necessary to show this point of view.
Calee was one of this man "wives" and a few years after they married, she was pointed "Fruitless", which put her aside and no longer as Raymond's wife. So, in between, Raymond found out she was pregnant with another man's baby and then Calee realized how in danger she and her baby was. That was when she was able, with a little help, to escape. And, this was how she met Eric, the most amazing guy who helped her to the end.
So, this book shook me a little with the dark side of this world, the side we try so much to unsee and hide. R.R. Banks usually writes more lighten books but this one was deep and raw. It showed that even in the darkest scenarios, there's light and happiness.
Calee and Eric found each other when they needed the most and they completed each other in pieces they didn't even know it was missing. It was beautiful to witness their love growing and how he did everything in his power to protect and to save her.
It was a beautiful story, with some dark subjects, but it resulted in a beautiful HEA. I recommend. :)
