"Indians of the U.S.from A to Z" is a concise overview of the indigenous people (Native Americans) who have lived in what are now the forty-eight contiguous states of the USA.
This volume briefly covers the most important people, tribes, and events -- from colonial times (Pocahontas, Squanto, Tecumseh, et al) through the tumultuous times of tribal warfare and treaties (Crazy Horse, Sitting Bull, Chief Joseph, etc.).
A spotlight is focused on personalities, intrigues, battles, massacres, treaties, laws, and their consequences.
More than that, though, "Indians of the U.S. from A to Z" contains poignant quotes from a variety of Indian leaders, including modern-day authors and activists.
Additionally, besides the battles, massacres, broken treaties, and such, examples of assistance provided by the Indians to the Euro-Americans are examined, as well as instances of cooperation (e.g., Sacagawea's guidance and interpreting for the Lewis & Clark expedition).
Indian contributions to U.S. culture (such as in the arts and sports) are also mentioned.
