Rate this book
The Fantasyland Series is the collection of five novels that take place in our world and a parallel universe where fantasies are true…but perhaps not all you would expect.

Wildest Dreams - Seoafin “Finnie” Wilde travels to an alternate universe to have the adventure of a lifetime and instantly finds herself walking down the aisle toward The Drakkar. And Frey Drakkar finds himself married to a woman beyond his wildest dreams and binds her to his world everlasting, plunging her into a web of political intrigue, magic, mystery and… dragons.

The Golden Dynasty - Circe Quinn goes to sleep at home and wakes up in a barren land populated by primitive people. Dax Lahn is the king of a savage horde and with one look at Circe, he knows she will be his queen. Circe and Lahn are separated by language, culture and the fact she’s from a parallel universe but Circe finds herself falling in love with this primitive land and its savage leader.

Fantastical - Cora Goode has woken up in a fairytale world. But within minutes, she does something to start a curse and her fairytale becomes a nightmare. Fantasyland Noctorno is there to save her but unfortunately he thinks she’s Cora of his world and he doesn’t like her much. But Cora needs Tor to keep her safe and the more time she spends with the warrior, the faster she falls in love with him.

Broken Dove - Far too young, Apollo Ulfr lost Ilsa, his wife, the love of his life and the mother of his two children. The grief of her loss does not settle in his soul, it solders to it. But when he discovers there is a parallel universe where his wife may have a twin, he feels there's hope and sets about bringing her to his world so he can have her back.

Midnight Soul - Against his will, Noctorno Hawthorne finds himself embroiled in magic, mayhem and parallel universes. In that universe, Franka Drakkar wears a mask she never takes off to protect herself in a world of malice, intrigue and danger. When Noc meets Franka, over wine and whiskey, her mask slips and Noc knows it’s her. Now he has to find a way to get her to come home with him and make her want to stay.

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

Fantasyland series by Kristen Ashley
Book 1
I absolutely loved this book. I loved the swapping of life's and fulfilling ur biggest wish. Who wouldn't want to go to another world to see love ones again.
I absolutely love Frey and his huge sexy self with the power over elfs and dragons.
When Finne first meets Frey she know nothing about him only that she is put before him to be married. I love how Finne is totally for the adventure and everything thrown in her past she challenges and overcomes.
Frey did not expect his new wife to respond so heatedly but did couldn't help but enjoy it himself but with distrust and hatred between him and Sjofn.
A lot happens in this book so if you don't concentrate you could lose where you were easily but the world is amazing and very well described.
I do feel this book could be a lot smaller but that would probably make the reader miss out of small but enjoyable characters like skylar trying to doing his exam while Penelope swipe her tail across his test annoying him. Would love KA to write about Finnie's girls and Frey's men, Looking forward to more. Great HEA.

Book 2
Amazing. Circe wakes up in a cage on a primitive land where their about to let then go and hunt the down to become warrior wife's. Lahn is the king and spot Circe beautiful golden hair and makes her wife, this is brutes violent and involved rape so when Circe is brought back to camp is wants nothing to do with Lahn but go back home to Seattle. This story is so good u can't stop it totally grips u. A lot of what happen in the camp and belief in Lahn world are very hard to follow or like, it's such a conflicting place for Circe to come to but slowly Lahn woo her and she falls in love and makes her life with him. It's not all roses but the story is just fanatic. It made me laugh cry and swear like a sailor but I loved it. Best HEA.

Book 3
I really enjoy the switching worlds storyline. I love the other universe with talking animals and sexy weapon welding warriors. Even tho this isn't my favourite I loved it. Tor is deeply hurt and doesn't believe Cora when she try's to explain shes from a totally different person. I like that the women are strong and independent but balance out the hero's in story. As I read a lot of erotica I though the mild sex play would bore me but not in slightest. Love that all three main character come together in this book even if it's for a few lines. Apollo gonna have a hard road but I bet it's a great one. Great sort of HEA but really good ending.

Book 4
OMG. this book is amazing. I didn't think she could get any better after Lahn and Circe book which is my favourite but Apollo's is just as amazing. I loved that all main character were in this book and we got to see them after their HEA. It did say at end that their still another book to come from series I cannot way. I absolutely love this series.

Book 5
Last book in fantasyland series by Kristen Ashley
I have to admit it took me months to read this book and even though my Queen KA usually gets it right for me I’ve got to admit I just couldn’t connect with Franka.
I did eventually get more into it as Noc became more involved but I really struggled with her overall character and felt Noc could have done so much better.
What really caught my interest was when Dax Lahn in our world and Circe of the other world came into story I do feel they should have there own story because I devoured anything that came up about them and the reason for more the 1 or 2 star I was originally going to give.
Gutted this didn’t fill me up like Queen KA books usually do but is what it is.

As always with this author, I need to remember it’s all about UNREAL romance fantasies. Kristen still delivers delicious and highly satisfying stories built on old tropes (old but good) and is so far the only author that hasn’t made me cringe - much.

Kristen’s heroes are all alpha assholes (AA), and I usually hate Alphas and and I’m so tired of the Alpha trope. I’m team Beta good guy camp ALL THE WAY! However Kristen’s heroes are just SO good at redeeming themselves and do the most awesome groveling, wooing and chasing. I’ve never come across an AA by ANY other author that I’ve felt I could “forgive”, it’s just never been ENOUGH groveling. Kristen’s guys don’t really grovel, they own up! It’s soooooo satisfying.

However!
I have read this authors later works before reading this series, so I was a bit unprepared for some blatantly problematic tropes (something she has become better with in later published titles), very typical of older romance novels. With risk of spoilers here are some very problematic tropes that might be off putting.
- Bury your gays
- Queer villains
- Stockholm syndrome
- Magical healing cock

And also strong trigger warning for rape!
If your kink is rape fantasy, you’ll like the second book.

The five books differ a bit in how the ladies come to meet their men. The stories mainly follow the same basic romance layout, but the “spices” (the personalities, backgrounds and the conflicts) are what flavors the read and makes the five stories feel a bit different. The layout are: Girl ends up in world, meets boy, personal conflict, epic conflict/problem, some drama, some chasing, stuff happens, HEA, and through all this there are moments of lovely swooning. Basically the usual romance novel recipe set in a fantasy world.

I was in the mood for something “light” and “fluff”. This delivers. Oh, yeah, it’s also hot hot hot!

I read this entire series twice in less then 6 months.....and I'm thinking of reading it a 3rd time. It's like every middle aged woman's dream, no? Like the 1st book got me hooked, but all the rest are just as great - the spice is spicy, the men are dreamy, the ultimate plot is fantastic, the land descriptions are *chefskiss - reading this series in 2022 got me in love with reading again
