Not Ever Engaged

Rate this book
The second to last thing Zach Lancaster wants to do is stand in front of the church and watch his best friend Tina marry another man, especially after he’d proposed to her himself. The absolute last thing he wants to do? Be her groom’s best man. But that’s exactly what he ends up doing. That’s the last time he’d mistake friendship for love. After years of therapy, Shari Wannamaker thought she was ready for a relationship. However, a recent attack that left her in a coma also affected her memory and caused long-buried anxieties to resurface. Thankfully, her new best friend Zach is willing to help with her dating dilemmas. Funny that Zach doesn’t trigger feelings of panic. He’s the only man she feels safe with. Probably because he has no desire to jump back into the deep end of the dating pool. When a tormentor from her past shows up, Shari must decide whether to be the victim or the master of her fears. Will she be able to rule her heart as well?

I truly enjoyed this cute romantic comedy. Happily Never Engaged continues the story of a group of young couples in the Otherwise Engaged series. The young twenty-somethings are all connected somehow along the way, friends or friends of friends, but each story focuses on a specific couple.
Zach was recently dumped and is still licking his wounds from that debacle. Shari is a computer guru and great at dealing with viruses on the web but not so good at dealing with her growing feelings for Zach. Their relationship, starting with and building on friendship, is sweet and funny and just a bit quirky. I liked that about the characters. This is a fast, fun read that will satisfy your craving for romance.

If you enjoyed the first two books in this series, you'll love this one. There's a lot going on with this group of young adults, and if you haven't read the previous books you might get lost, but if you love the characters as much as I did, you'll love this book too.

Ms Hinds is definitely a talented author, and if you're looking for clean reads with more than just a love story happening, she's your kind of author. She's sure mine.

For full disclosure, I received an ARC of this book for review but it did not influence my opinion.
