Number 101

Rate this book
When 20-year-old Eden Waller sneaks into a college bar, she’s after one thing: a kiss from the hottest guy in the place. Operation Smooch is number 38 on her bucket list, and she’s hell-bent on success. She doesn’t realize that her drool-worthy prospect is a young Krinar male, the same guy who solved a centuries-old puzzle and ruined her father’s career. Eden resents the Krinar invaders for their superior beauty, technology, and intellect, as no human could possibly compete.

25-year-old Darak came to this planet for one reason and one reason only: to get as much Earth-girl sex as he can in the six months he’s been given before returning home to start a real job. He doesn’t count on the instant connection with a young human girl who is so unique and full of life that he questions everything he believes about duty to his family and culture.

Inexorably drawn to each other, Eden’s and Darak’s passion cannot be constrained by the laws of man or nature. But each holds secrets that could tear them apart forever. Will their love continue to blossom, or will it wither and die?

Darak and Eden

Eden is only 20 and very sheltered, but she can’t get enough of her life. She always craves for more and more. She has a youtube channel where she talks about her adventures and a list of 100 things that she needs to do before she dies.
Number 38 is to kiss the hottest guy in the bar.
Apparently the hottest guy in the bar is Darak who is equally attracted to Eden. As a result they won’t just kiss; they will also have sex almost straight away.

What Eden does not know is that Darak is Krinar. She does not even suspect it. And the problem is that she hates Ks, because they destroyed her family’s peace and quiet. You see, Darak is very young (just 25 years old i.e. a baby for Krinar standards) and he has not developed the Krinars’ assholery fully yet.
What Darak does not know is that Eden is dying. Eden tries everything she can to hide it from him. Because she finally feels free with him. And happy. She does not want to lose it – no matter if it does not last for long.

This is a very different love story between a Krinar and a human girl. Very sweet story and very heartbreaking.

Oh, my goodness, this was such a sweet, poignant read! At the same time, it certainly had its share of intense, sexy moments. Very different from what readers are used to in the Krinar World, and a wonderful, well-written contribution.

I liked that this wasn't an instalove-story, and I also liked the way that Heather Knight portrayed the characters as behaving truer to their young ages than what you often read in romance fiction, making them more relatable and likable, in my opinion.

I don't want to give anything away, but there are definitely a few Linda Richman moments that could morph into ugly-cry seshes if you aren't a jaded bitch like me. ;) So maybe have a hankie at the ready. It's definitely worth the read. Well done!

Okay, Eden Waller is an adventure-seeking 20-year-old who sneaks into a college bar one night with her best friend, hoping to snag a kiss from "the hottest guy at the bar". It's Number 38 of a list of things she wants to experience, if only her overcautious, overprotective parents would loosen the leash a little.

Eden meets Darak, who is hot and gorgeous, and on his own mission to explore and live life before settling down into the boring and restrictive role that HIS overbearing parents have scripted for him. They hit it off immediately.

Pretty soon I'M the one panting, as Darak step-by-erotic-step penetrates Eden in her first ever sexual encounter. I thought this was one of the sexiest, most thrilling scenes I have ever read and this would be my highlight of the book. But then, Heather Knight surprised me. Then, she gutted me. Then, she made tears pour from my eyes. (What the ? ... I don't cry easily!) Then, when she was done, she had me cradling my reading device, trying to process what I just experienced, savouring all the feelings she stirred up inside me.

This was so beautiful! Transcendently beautiful. Eden and Darak are very sweet together. As you can see, I loved Number 101. Totally recommend it!

Based on what other reviewers have said, I'd been warned to expect a tearjerker. I vowed I would not cry. Well...I did. Even braced against it, I did. Number 101 is truly a story of young love. Eden is only 20, and Darak is young for a Krinar. Both seek to break free of parental restrictions. Their characters are perfectly in character in the way they act. If you want a tender, sweet but hot, love story, grab this one!

Received an ARC for review.

Oh me, oh my. This was absolutely stunning! Wow, this one definitely had me in tears compared to the other stories in the Krinar Kindle World series. This had me in my emotions for so many reasons. Firstly, brilliantly written! Secondly, I loved Darak -- he was an amazing and very young Krinar. Thirdly, both characters were freaking downright phenomenal.

Darak is a 25-year old Krinar who came to earth looking for a fun time with human woman, until he spotted Eden. He is absolutely amazing. I loved that he was the youngest of his kind. I loved how blunt he was about everything. He never lied and hardly omitted anything. Seeing him in a hard place between choosing his family and a human was beautiful. Everything about him was perfection.

Eden is a 20-year old girl who has had a tough time. She's been sick before so her parents keep her on a tight leash and treat her like an 8 year old girl though she is an adult. Despite everything that went wrong for her she's been pushing on trying to live as best as she can. I loved her fun side and how she wanted to always have or go on an adventure. She had a bucket list and was determined to get through it. Everything about Eden was superb.

The romance between Darak and Eden was amazing. They started off as strangers at a club which was number 38 on Eden's bucket list. From there they slowly became more to one another. I loved how realistic their relationship was, of course minus Darak being an alien and all. They both were living the same sort of life in regards to being on a leash to their parents and wanting to just spread their wings out. The love that grew between them was real and their relationship was absolutely fun. Let's not forget to mention the steamy moments these two had -- I mean can I just PLEASE have my own personal Krinar.

I totally enjoyed this and I'm glad I got an early copy of this beauty. Totally recommend!

This story is delicate, deep, and hot with heaps of emotion and real-life characters who are easy to identify with. I loved Eden from the word go. She is one special, sassy, and strong lady who won’t give up anything without a soul-wrenching fight. Darak is like a tantalizing cocktail (with all the trimmings and the cherry) – sweet but potent. Number 101 will pull at your heartstrings. It’ll make you rant, cheer, and cry. With solid and beautiful writing this story is like a smooth-flowing but powerful river that will sweep you along for one heartbreakingly beautiful ride. I’m definitely reading more by this author.

〘👽 1 star 👾〙

This is my second Krinar book, I have only read one before and it was quite good so I wanted to try another. I know there are different authors but I didn’t enjoy this book. Once I started reading I got a YA feeling—and it’s not like I particularly hate the genre because I have read it, still, that was a long time ago and nowadays I avoid immature teenagers—with all the drama that entails.

One thing that got me thinking was the “sex scene” in the beginning, Eden is a virgin so when Darak starts to get a little handsy and doesn’t stop with just kissing, she says stop but he speaks nonsense about just touching and she lets him, then he gets past touching and she again asks him to stop but like before he says he isn’t going to penetrate much to break her virginity and she kind of let him continue and this pattern goes on until he does the deed. Sorry but this felt more like dubious consent. If she said no the first time then is NO. I didn’t like that.

Krinar? Yes, please!

Another really good book set in the Krinar World!

Eden hates the Krinar for what happened to her father. An ancient code he'd been working on for years was solved in a single day by a Krinar. To her, it ruined her father's career.

Eden meets Darak at a bar that she and a friend sneak into with the help from her cousin. Their attraction is instant.

Darak is Krinar. He has six months on earth before he has to return to Krina and join the family business, even though he does not want to.

When Eden discovers Darak is Krinar can they work through her prejudices?

This was a really good book in the Krinar World. My review could be longer but i don't want to give away any spoilers. You'll have to read it for yourself!

My one warning to you is have tissue at the ready before you read this one. I was blubbering like a baby and it was the best! Such a love story and who doesn't need a good cry every now and then. Don't worry though, there is a wonderful HEA that will have you believing in miracles.

*Received ARC from Anna Zaires Krinar ARC Team for Honest Review*
Thank you Publisher & Authors

I Give this Book 3 Stars

I Enjoyed this book don't get me wrong, I read this within a few hours. It's just Eden was just a little harsh and kind of a hard person to connect with, for me.
I understand that she's a 20 year old, a cancer survivor and I know what she went through was tough, I found her a tad immature in several parts of the book.
She shouldn't have let her parents wrap her so tightly with cotton and bubble wrap years after the fact. She has a bucket list of 100 thing to do, and in the beginning of the book it lists them all and I thought that was pretty dang cool.
I mean she's 20 (yes, young) but she is obviously of legal age to leave the nest, but her parents mainly her mother threw that payment of her cancer treatments in her face and how she lost her writing job cause she was supporting her daughter aka Emotional Blackmail, and how she's not allowed to move out (they let her move into the 'apartment' over the garage and being time restricted, I'm mean the girls a prisoner. I know they are worried for her, But how can Parents do that?
Well Eden sneaks out with her friend Naj to go to Moonies a bar, where her cousin Thomas is a bouncer who snuck them in and there is where she meets Darak #38 on her bucket list.

#38 Go to Moonies and kiss the hottest guy in the bar

I really don't want to give any big spoilers in the book.

Her hatred for The Krinar is very apparent throughout the book, and after a while I was kinda getting a little frustrated with her, she takes a situation from an mole hill and turns it into a mountain. I real wished she resolved her issues earlier in the book, so I could enjoy it more.

Darak is a 25 year old Krinar, who is on vacation before he has to go back to fulfill his duty to his parents business.

Eden and Darak were a decent pair, and there was a lot of great comedic bantering between the pair, but how he could still like her after half the things he said about his kind, was confusing.

The ending was very...quick, I wish it was a little longer so I could see a real relationship unfold between them, that wasn't pronounced in the book.

I don't just throw out 5 stars so I can get another ARC, my reviews are always honest.

3 stars for me is 'decent' and this is my first book from this author, so I would like to read more from Heather Knight.

UGLY CRY WARNING!
If you've read Close Obsession by Anna Zaires and you're anything like me then you would have ugly cried your heart out at the end of that book and well, let me tell you, this book will have you ugly crying just as much as the ending of Anna Zaire's second book in the Krinar Chronicles did.
Aside from introducing readers to a young K, one whose not fully grown into his dominance and whose practically still a young adult by their standards, Heather Knight takes readers on an emotional roller coaster and tells a story that could easily be told in a contemporary fiction, a story quite unlike any sci-fi romance book that I have read before.
Most sci-fi romance books that I have read in the past will have elements of suspense, action, adventure and this book doesn't, I think maybe that this might be just one of the reasons that the book impacted me quite strongly.
Number 38/101 reads more along the lines of a coming of age story with a few added sci-fi elements, a touch of mystery, angst and secrets.
This was a truly sweet, emotional story that I loved reading and I adored the characters of Eden and Darak and the connection that they share.

This was the sweetest story ever! They are both so young! Eden has already been through so much in her short life and wants to finally have a chance to live. Dark is a little older but very immature compared to the other Krinar we have read about before. The book made me laugh and giggle. It made me smile. It made me tear up! It reminded me very much of how it feels to be so young and desperately in love. This one is not as big on the sex or scorching hotness. This one is all about the story. I brought back so many memories of when I was that age 30 something years ago. Definitely read this book. It should not be missed!

I didn’t like this novella as much as the one I read previously. Once again this is an author writing a story based on Anna Zaires Krinar trilogy. I have to say right away this was very YA I found it a little difficult to connect to both Eden and Darak perhaps because they’re portrayed as teenagers, even though Eden is twenty and Darak is 25. Also I found it odd that Eden didn’t realise that Darak was a Krinar, as the original stories constantly made it clear they are all taller far more beautiful and graceful than humans, and very easy to spot. Plus his name should have given her a clue.

This didn’t do justice to the original stories IMO.

This is Heather Knight's first book I read, and as part of the Krinar series, I always start reading with even greater anticipation.

Unlike the other books in the series, this one, the main character Eden Waller, doesn't even suspect that the boy she's falling in love with is a Krinar.
Because of the changes that the Ks brought to Earth - most of them positive change aimed at clearing and improving the planet - Eden is hurt because one of the Ks caused her father's work research for ten years become invalid.

Eden is a life-loving character, and right at the beginning of the book, we have her bucket list, with 100 things she would like to do before she died. Some of these things are already crossed out.
Her next action would be to go to a bar - where her cousin Thomas works as a bouncer and let her in because she's only 20 - and she would kiss the most handsome man she could find there.

N.38 - Go to Moonie's and kiss the hottest guy in the bar

The kiss happens and the man she chooses becomes more than special, because he also wants to be with her.
But over the days, some mishaps and misunderstandings occur, and Eden's days go down.

Eden has had cancer, leukemia, and since then her parents overprotect her, but she wants to live, enjoy life.
Her bucket list is accompanied by her followers on You Tube, where she tells of her adventures.

But out of the 100 items, number 101 has been added, but Eden's time is up.

On the other hand, we have Darak, a K unlike anything you've ever read.
Of course his age, relative to Eden, is much higher, but compared to Ks, Darak is young.
He doesn't like the research work his family does - Researching and developing sources of nutrition - so before he has to spend the rest of his life in a lab, he walks the Earth for six months.
The deadline for returning to Krina was already running out, and so he meets Eden, who shows him that life must be enjoyed to do what one likes... before there is no more time (even if for a K fear of death does not exist).

She doesn't know he's a K; He doesn't know she's dying.

And it is from here that the hurt begins, there're tears in your eyes, wondering/wishing there were Ks on Earth to end this terrible disease.

EDEN’S BUCKET LIST

The Krinar stories are a spinoff from Krinar Chronicles by Anna Zaires. I enjoyed this story that is part of a larger project by an amazing group of authors. Each book reads as a stand-alone and together makes up a fascinating tale. The stories involved two species, humans from earth and Krinar from the planet Krina. The stories are full of angst, confusion, shock, eventually acceptance, and passion. The stories are sexually explicit of full of intense sex scenes between aliens and humans.

The story of Eden Waller and Darak is somewhat different than the other Krinar stories and the one that had me getting all choked up and in tears. At first, I wasn’t impressed with Darak, and he does use coercion to get Eden to give up her virginity finally. I would call it dubious consent because while he pesters her, and several times she says no, he doesn’t force her, she gives in and agrees. I would call Darak a Krinar horny teenager in his behavior. His goal was to have as much sex with an earth girl during the six month he was here to tour Earth before returning to Krina and working with his parents. Meeting Eden and experiencing her enthusiasm for life sidetracks him.

Eden Waller, twenty-one-years-old, has created a bucket list of things to do, and her goal is to make as many things on that list come true. She is a You-tuber and post videos about her list and accomplishments. One item was to sneak into Moonies, a college bar/club, have a drink, and kiss the hottest guy there. She will succeed but meeting Darak will lead to her crossing many items off her list.

The plot will bring Eden and Darak together and discover that they each seek adventure, and have a strong desire to see the world, and their parents are controlling both of them. Eden is not straightforward in her answers, always hedging around the absolute truth. But then again, Darak is just as guilty. “Nothing is safe, Darak. Didn’t anyone tell you that?”

Together, Darak and Eden will work on some items on her bucket list, while both keeping secrets. She doesn’t realize he is Krinar, a race of people she despises and considers a threat. His time on Earth is limited, and his intentions were never to stay in one place long, but then he met Eden. “You live more in five minutes than most people do in a year.” “You make me happy, Adventure Girl.”

“She needed him too—not just physically. There were times, like now, where he felt like air and water, cool grass and burning fire, and everything else in the universe—all that was necessary to her existence.”

Eden’s life hangs in limbo, and her parents, especially her mother, can be overprotective, suffocating her. While she is grateful for everything they have done, she resents not being able to live a normal life to the fullest. “I’m tired of being your albatross.” What will happen when her parents learn of Darak? How will she react when she discovers he is Krinar? There is a great chemistry between Eden and Darak, and he does everything in his power to help her achieve her adventures. Two star-crossed lovers that find each other in this adventure. “I love you, Adventure Girl. I’d give you the stars if I could.”

Sweetly sexy with a dark edge around it

This is a great book. It doesn't read entirely like a sci-fi book and is full of sweet romance and all the messy, confusing emotions of first love. It also gets dirty, too. It doesn't matter if you've read other Krinar books, this is easily understood without any further background. The hints about Darak's real nature and the foreshadowing about Eden's situation work either way and add to the story.

These aliens in the Krinar World books aren't all the same. Some, like Darak, are more human in their behavior. The way he loves Eden seems to be rare for most Krinar, so their story has more romance and emotion. There's a lot of tenderness to go along with the sexy stuff.

Loved It

Darak and Eden met in a collage bar. That first meeting turned into one hot sexual night. She didn't know he was a Krinar. While this story takes some twist and turns, so does their love for each other. I truly love these Krinar tales. They are well written and exciting and fun to read.

This story was so well done! It has depth and heart. I have read some of the Krinar books but this one was different. The hero and heroine are younger. The story has some angst and I even cried at one point. Well done Heather Knight! Well done!

A different approach than other Krinar books, not so much heavy handed, aggressive Is, more realistic in the characters

Liked it but missing much of the cooler technology in other Krinar stories. However, more relatable characters. Average but enjoyed it

A poignant romance between a young woman who feels she is being suffocated by her parents worry about her health and safety and a young man who is trying to have one great adventure before settling down at his parents' work which he loathes. They both get a chance to live when they are with each other. What was suppose to be a small fling develops into something more the longer they are together. However, her illness returns and she finds out the truth about Darak's origins.

An emotional intense roller coaster for two young people who never been in a serious relationship before. Eden is all over the place emotionally, especially when she finds out about Darak being a Krinar. In fact, she is a bit of a jerk, but there are mitigating circumstances.

It feels very emotionally authentic. I can relate to Eden wanting to forget about her illness for a while and just live. She also feels guilty wanting to get away from her parents because she knows they have been wonderful with her. She doesn't want to worry them. I was very ill for a while and my chances did not look good. I was older than Eden but I had to rely on my parents. They had to drive me everywhere. They could only be gone for a few hours. They had to learn to leave their phones on all the time. I had to call a few times and they rushed home to take me to the emergency room. Sometimes you just want to feel normal but it can be at the cost of those who love you, are suffering with you and who have given up a lot for you.

Sweet romance.

As the title indicates this is a novella set in the Krinar World originally created by Anna Zaires (and in my opinion hers should be read first - I read Close Liaisons first years ago). Like many people I fell so hard for the Krinar world years ago and when I heard there would be Krinar World novellas written by some of my favorite authors I was absolutely ecstatic. This is the first of the novellas I have read (I will definitely read them all!) and it is written well and has familiar K...items (so vague, I know!) but is an original, inventive story set in that world.

It was very interesting to read about a K male (Darak, the hero) so different in personality from Korum (from the original series). Eden, the heroine, has been extremely sheltered by her parents and this, among other things I don't want to spoil, informs her actions and choices throughout the story. I think some readers may be frustrated by what they perceive as immaturity or by what they think they would choose to do in the characters' shoes but I understood every choice and its reasoning and it all made sense and seemed right to me. There was a little steam (I loved Darak's mildly dirty mouth) and sweetness (kind of a new adult feel), and lovely emotion between Eden and her parents as well. Definitely recommend - and when done I think we should all follow Eden and make ourselves a list as well.

4 Stars for Number 101

Eden has a bucket list, one she is determined to complete and have broadcasted on YouTube. When we are introduced to Eden, she is on a mission to complete item #38 - kiss/make out with the hottest guy in Moonies. When Eden meets Darak, she expects their exchange will end with the night but the sparks that fly between them is like a moth to a flame... their attraction for one another is deserving of another encounter and another and another.

Darak can’t seem to step away from his Adventure Girl and while both know that they have a limited time together neither can help the development of their emotional bond to the other. What’s meant to be an uncomplicated fling turns into a romance that neither fully understands.

The rawness of Eden and Darak’s story really amazed me. The author’s writing really epitomized the youth and edginess of our two main characters. At times I questioned Eden’s “chip” but then again it seemed so in character with her personality. Darak’s lack of understanding his own feelings is also a testament to his youth. This felt like a coming of age romance and I couldn’t help but be swept up in it. There were certainly moments I was teary-eyed, and the angst was spot on.

I thoroughly enjoyed this Krinar World Novella!

This book is about a young girl named Eden. She had cancer and now her parents keep her close to protect her. One night she sneaks out to a club and manages to get in even though she's only twenty. Her goal? Kiss a hot guy. Number 38 on her bucket list. But she gets more than she bargained for when she ends up with a handsome man. Unbeknownst to her he's a Krinar but he omits this fact during their growing relationship. Misunderstandings happen and the return of her cancer makes her push him away so he doesn't get hurt watching her suffer through her illness. As she's about to die she gets the greatest gift ever love and life. Darak and falling love become number 101 on her bucket list.

This book made me cry so hard, Eden is so sweet but has a lot of guilt about the pain she put her parents through when she had cancer. She wants to save Darak those same emotions by pushing him away. They both lied to each and both are hurt but when he cancer comes back she regrets pushing him away because she loves him. I loved that he was wiling to stand up to his parents and make sure that Eden lives by making her his Charl it was so sweet. This book was amazing.
