The deal was simple, show Kristi the time of her life and get her back in the dating world, prove to her there was more to life than just school and work. Then Bryce would get money to help expand his business.Except it didn’t go according to plan. They weren’t supposed to fall in love. **Please Note** This Author's books are NOT recommended for Safe Readers.
Dawn Martens is a young, spunky Canadian Author. Being a wife to Colin, a mother to three beautiful little girls (Sarah (2007), Grace (2010), and Ava (2014)) and of course best friend to fellow author Glenna Maynard, hasn't stopped this Canadian Firecracker from pursuing her dreams of becoming a writer! Dawn's number one passion in life is the written word, and she's extremely thankful that she has the ability to share the ramblings from the characters inside of her head with the rest of the world! She also may or may not have the hugest girl crush on Author Kristen Ashley, who is her personal idol and helped inspire Dawn in the beginning of her Indie career.
Well done! I loved the story and read quickly. Interesting characters and a plot cliche but it works perfectly in the story. A plan that had everything to go wrong and really went wrong, but love and friendship were stronger. I was waiting for something to go wrong at any time, and the outcome was being delayed and the situation is getting more complicated with each chapter. But it worked well. The characters are lovable and the reader can't stay angry for long. Recommend!
Bryce would do just about anything for money to help out with his bike shop, including letting his girlfriend set him up with Kristi. Emma who is Kristi's sister overs Bryce the money and Alana his girlfriend agrees. However you find out later not all is what it seems.
A tricky one for me. As always, I enjoyed the writing style, but again how can they justify what they did. A lot of pointing and blaming each other. Although they take responsibility for their actions, it’s alongside a lot of BUTS. I know it was wrong..BUT…….. ~ BUT we didn’t even do anything after you slept together ~ a sincere apology is one done without excuses. These characters have no conscience whatsoever.
When Vinny visited and basically in a nut shell said, “He did a shitty thing, but what I did to Lilly was a lot worse so you should forgive him”. Holy moly. These women put up with so much. They aren’t doormats, but they definitely forgive too easily.
You need to put your morals aside to read these books!
I was equally excited and cautious before starting this novella. I loved the Angels Warriors MC series, so I was hoping to catch a glimpse of them. That was the exciting part. I was cautious, and yes admit maybe a little squinty eyed, because my soul still hurts for Hilary & Mason. Some characters just stick with you and they will remain in my list of “favorite couples”.
I have to mention that there are so many characters, and parts in the story that had me giggling. Hayley and Alix are friends with Kristi, and these two had me laughing out loud at their over the top banter. I love these two, and they remind me of some of my favorite people with their quirks about sex, and love of poutine.
In this story, we get a sweet telling of a love story for Bryce, and Kristi. They can live happily ever after as soon as they deal with his current girlfriend, oh and the fact that he may be lying to her. Let’s hope Kristi is able to forgive and forget.
My Review of Wasn't Supposed To Love You (Being Yours Novella series Book 2) by Dawn Martens My Rating 4 Stars Dawn Martens has a way of pulling you into a story and making you fall in love with flawed characters no matter the heartbreak you feel before said characters get their HEA. What happens when your new best friend decides to set you up with the guy who just happens to make your own heart feel like it will beat outside your chest. Well, you get the imperfect journey to finding love with the man who stole your heart the minute you laid eyes on him. This was a sexy great flowing story that you won’t be able to put down until the end! ** I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from Author **
Byrce and Kristi's story is unique and different. Fast paced and hot. When Kristi's sister tries to get her sister to jump back into the dating pool, she inadvertently sets of a chain of unexpected events. In her mind the deal was simple: date her sister and Bryce would get money to expand his shop. Nothing could go wrong with that plan, right? In typical style, Ms. Martens doesn't follow the straight and narrow path but after many twists and turns the couple is on the road to an HEA. Characters from the first novella make an appearance and the reader is kept up on their lives too. Looking for a short hot read, grab this one.
Honestly this title is not something I would normally find myself drawn to, but I thoroughly enjoyed Wasn't Supposed to Love You. Dawn Martens has created interesting, endearing and flawed characters.
Bryce, Alana and Emma have their hearts in the right place, but their crazy scheming is a recipe for disaster.
This novella has a story line that is sexy, hot and steamy. The plot is unique, with twists and turns aplenty that kept me completely enthralled. The banter is fun and flirty, and at times incredibly humorous.
It's a fast paced, quick read told in multiple points of view. I look forward to reading more of Ms Martens work in the future.
I love the tale that is woven with this story. There are multiple points of view and in each one you can see the story unfolding quickly. Kristie is a take no-nonsense type of gal who doesn't want a guy in her life to complicate it. But when her best friend, Alana, sets her up because of Kristie's sister's scheming her whole life is changed. I love how the story flows so quickly and is easy to read. It is a book that you don't want to put down because you want to find out what happens next.
3.5 stars. Hero doesn’t have sex with my one after he runs into Krista. He does have a girlfriend but they are really just best friend after all these years and Alana likes Krista and encourage Bryce to date Krista because she knows it run its course between them. Also, Alana likes Matt. Anyway, I guess people say cheating because of having a gf but Alana was all for Bryce going for Krista. So no sex with OW or OM other than between H and h. Hea and epilogue years out. One of the safer books of this author.
I love this book, I finished within a hour of reading I couldn't put it down. Bryce is hot and meant to be with Kristi I knew from the first meet. Little did I know they were childhood friends, Bryce was Kristi first crush who turned into her one and only true love. I love how everyone had a part in making this happen but I didn't like how it was planned out of course. Love always win in the end and I love me so HEA. I received this book for a honest review.
I have to say I loved this book, I had wanted to know what was going to happen next with Kristi and Brice. The sisters schemes were just horrible and playing with people's feelings. Emma was a selfish and self absorbed. But I loved how sarcastic and brutally honest Kristi was. And her double trouble friends Haley and Alix!!!! They had me laughing out loud every time!!! Bruce seriously needed to grow a pair!!! Men!!!
Devoured this book!! Loved the fast paced storyline. It definitely was a quick read. Thing 1 and Thing 2 freaking hilarious. Really enjoyed the banter, storyline, and Kristi's character was awesome. Just check this book out its worth it!! Thanks Jamie Nibarger Ellis
Dawn Martens drew me into this book from the beginning, well really in Never Letting You Go when these characters were mentioned. I loved Kristi but wanted to hate Bryce, Alana, and Emma but I couldn't hate them forever! Martens made me fall in love with these characters despite what they did! I can't wait to read more by Dawn Martens in the future!!
Dawn knows how to shake things up and make me want to punch my kindle. Her character development is always fantastic. I wanted to hate Bryce but as the title suggests I loved him anyway. Great read.
I truly love this story I wish there was a story more based on Matt and Alanna story! I wish it would tell you more about what happens between Matt and Alanna. But I'm so glad that Bryce and Christy got together got married and had 4 Kids
It was a great read as always from these 2 authors. The story moves along but doesn't feel rushed. The characters you thought you wouldn't like because of what they did...surprise you end up liking them. Well worth the read. Rated very good
I loved the bones of the story even if it got a little lost at times in the telling. There were a few editing issues but nothing that took me out of the story. We get a great epilogue that lets us know how things turned out for everyone.
You never know what to expect with this author, except a great book. Always a great storyline and characters. I loved the flow of the book and enjoyed from beginning to end
Another amazing book by dawn always gets you hooked from the start started this one straight after the first book love books like this certainly is a must one click
I feel embarrassed that I read this story but I’m taking it a part of my learning journey.
130 pages of zero character development, zero sense, a cruel scheme that is never explained or apologised for and the ‘story’ is so jumpy that it just doesn’t make sense.
This guy has 2 girls friends, gets one pregnant and then declares his love for her and says she was always the one…was this written by someone who voted for Trump?
I LOVED IT! Now this book in the series I absolutely loved. I laughed my ass off at the antics of Alix and Hayley, Kristi's good friends. They own a hair salon together and do Kristi's hair and she does web design for their shop. Their back and forth banter about blow jobs and anal sex between each other was freakin hilarious. I enjoyed getting to know more about Alana. We meet her in book 1 but we don't get much background on her. In this book she a very talkative outgoing little spitfire and she comes from a wealthy family but she doesn't act like it other than she like fancy clothes. Her boyfriend Bryce is a gorgeous tattooed and pierced guy who looks like a bad boy but is actually a sweetheart. We also meet Kristi in book 1 she's Ava's best friend but that's about all we know other than she gets a boyfriend named Bryce that Ava comes to discover is Alana's boyfriend. So in this book we find out how that all happened and how it turns out. And can I just say, HOLY CRAP! When Bryce literally gets knocked on his ass by Kristi he is instantly attracted to her but he doesn't recognize her as a girl from his past. Kristi has thrown herself into completing college and starting her career she doesn't want to get into any relationships so she doesn't date because after seeing what her mother did to her, her sister and her father she really doesn't want to get set up for failure. When Kristi's sister Emma decides to play matchmaker she starts a catastrophe waiting to happen. But eventually what goes around comes around and Kristi is the one who gets burned and a baby. I laughed hard and cried harder. I fell in love with Bryce and the suspense after the accident had my afraid to go on to the next page for fear of what was gonna happen. And he and Kristi together are off the charts smokin hot. I absolutely loved the ending. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
I enjoyed this book, but it was kind of convoluted and lots of characters to keep track of. Kristi and Bryce were definitely a better match than the girl he was with at the time. It was kind of obvious that the girlfriend was looking to get out of the relationship, but like Bryce, just didn't really know how to go about it. And although Bryce kept saying he was going to come clean, he never did until after the sister spilled the beans. Should've just manned up. (Kristi's sister offered him money to expand his shop just to "date"her and get her back into the game) Read the first book in the series first, it will help with some of the characters back story. I'll probably read Vinnie's story, but after I read something else. Need a break from the Jerry Springer vibe. Good book and good writing.
What a great read. The characters are great and the storyline works beautifully. Even though you know something is bound to go wrong with the crazy scheme in the book you are rooting for everyone involved to be happy. Kristi and Bryce have great chemistry, I loved her relationship with her sister, Emma and best friend Alana. This book had great character development and just enough from the supporting cast to spark my interest in their stories. I would love more Matt and Alana.
The set up was supposed to go as planned, but matters of the heart can't be planned or controlled. When the truth comes out can relationships be mended. Quick good read. I received this ARC for an honest review.
Wasn't Supposed To Love You (Being Yours Novella series Book 2)
This was a great Novella..
Bryce and Kristi were childhood friends. Years go by and when they bump into eachother again years later they have an instant chemistry. At first they didn't recognize eachother. Alana weasled her way into Kristi's life, she was dating Bryce but when Emma Kristi's sister offers them a proposal Alana was the first to agree to it.
"I can’t believe every person in my life has betrayed me."
Can Kristi forgive them all for the ultimate betrayal ? Great read
