Got this book via a Humble Bundle. Read it out of curiosity for CBT. It is a typical self-help book of the type a dime a dozen. Too superficial, too smooth and when the author claims it is evidence based and she recommends acupuncture and vitamin C (based on a study with 43 participants) you can't help but to take everything with a pinch of salt.

This must be the only Humble Bundle that I really regret buying.

I don't suffer from anxiety, but a bunch of my friends do. This book was part of a bundle, and I wondered if it could help me support them better. The intro chapters on the different kinds of anxiety were very interesting for me, but I can't really vouch for the efficacy of the workbook.

For some reason, I've always supported therapy for others but couldn't see it as an option for myself. But when I saw this book on sale on BookBub, I thought "why not?" I'm glad I picked it up! There's a lot of great information in here about identifying and living with your anxiety. Also, the author asks you to think deeply about your anxiety (what thoughts trigger it, how it manifests physically, etc), which is painful but helpful. I agree with reviews on here that say that the Kindle version is hard to use, but I'm giving this four stars because it is approachable and it really helped me work against the cycles of anxiety that I've been living in for a while. I recommend this book for people who have anxiety but don't know where to start in terms of getting help. The resources in the back also include more anti-anxiety titles and links for finding a CBT therapist. Great information all around!

Though I found some of the advice a bit outdated, I would recommend this book to those who do not seek or practice CBT therapy on their own. As a person who has worked with several therapists and counselors over the years, I couldn't find any new or revolutionary information in this book. I suppose I can credit my therapists for that. However, I acknowledge that many people find talk therapy uncomfortable or too expensive. In those cases, something is better than nothing and I would hope that they start their mental health journey here. In these times, everyone suffers from anxiety on some level and mental health practices are needed more than ever. Start here, friend. The advice and exercises within are well tested and practiced with great result. You don't need to fall victim to your anxiety any longer.

A very informative and helpful book! It is very time consuming to complete all of the homework the book gives you each week. I didn’t do the best at completing all of the homework assignments, but overall I think my anxiety has decreased from using this book and I’ve learned some really helpful tools that are helping me to manage my anxiety better than ever before. This book has helped me to recognize and learn about anxiety that I experience and how to handle it appropriately. I’ve been able to push myself to do uncomfortable things and correct my false beliefs that come from my anxiety. I recommend giving it a try.

This book has a lot of simple strategies for managing irrational thought patterns and anxious thinking. It went into helping individuals put it into practice. I feel like people get back what they put into it. It is not a therapist! The book recommends seeking help from trained professionals if needs be! I liked it!

I have no anxiety but have a close one with it, and I hate seeing him suffer. This book looks like it could be helpful for someone with anxiety and discipline to do something about it. I planned to gift it, but I forgot about it until now. I'll probably pick it up and check if it can benefit someone in need.

The workbook is easy to follow and descriptions of anxiety (for me) spot on . I worked through it and did find patterns etc. I think it’s a starting point and something that makes me want to follow up more .

Excellent

This is an excellent book on anxiety. Arlin clearly spells out what anxiety is and what cbt is. Anxiety is big enough that a single book may not solve the issue, but it certainly got me started working on it.

Pretty good, would be better as a paper/work book instead of reading it on kindle so you can do the worksheets.
