Sometimes changing one thing can change everything.
Max Alexander, Hollywood’s king of the silver screen, has made hearts flutter all over the world. He’s just wrapped his latest blockbuster, and is planning to visit on old college friend in Switzerland when his plans unexpectedly change. To make it up to him, Thomas Meenan, right hand man of his old friend, offers him a stay at Escape, a remote North Carolina B&B on the Atlantic coast. Unsure of the offer, but unwilling to offend his long term friend, he agrees to check it out. When he arrives there at four in the morning he finds something he never expected, but soon realizes is exactly what he needed.
Annie Clemons has lived her entire life at Escape, painting in her attic studio, and walking on the beach. Not long ago she almost lost it to the bank before Thomas Meenan and the Chimera Group invested in the B&B in exchange for occasional use of the property for their special private events. Now, with Meenan as her partner, her home is secure and her financial troubles are behind her. She can’t imagine life getting any better until Max Alexander shows up in the middle of the night, and announces his plan to spend a month there alone with her.
When Max and Annie meet hearts pound, and fantasies bloom, but as they grow closer someone else is watching their romance unfold, someone who has had his eye on Annie for a very long time. Someone who will do anything to claim the woman he believes should belong to him.

Escape has one of the hottest, most artistic, and touching scenes that I have read this year! Max and Annie come from two totally different worlds, yet they are a perfect match. I loved Escape and can't wait to read more from Cybill Cain!

Finally a thought provoking book that was well written but still gave me the heat that I crave in a book. Annie and Max meet and the sparks are instant but there are some surprises and twists in the story that will keep you on your toes. This is my second read for this author and I want MORE!

Annie's the artist owner of a seaside bed and breakfast on the North Carolina coast that's been in her family for generations. The inn was now financially secure due to a new partner who only wanted to have it available for close friends. That is how movie star Max ended up there as a guest of his friend. He needed a break after finishing up his latest movie and his friend gifted him with a month at the remote inn. After a long drive he arrives at 4 AM and finds no one in the entrance. He wanders toward the source of the music and finds a beautiful naked woman painting as she listens to loud music. He wanders back to the entrance and calls out for someone. She appears clothed and welcomes him. Their attraction is immediate and continues to grow. This is a well written book that flows well and they both have a strong artistic way about them. Throw in some amazing sex and some stalker danger and you'll be page turning your way through this book. A great read. I voluntarily reviewed this book after reading an advance copy.

Arc provided by author for honest review. My second book by cybill Cain and it was just as good as first book! Max is so dreamy you can't help but swoon all over every inch of this gorgeous movie star. Annie I found her very sheltered but Max is perfect to bring her out of her shell. Absolutely loved it!!

Loved everything about this story. The creativeness between Max and Annie and seeing the world through their artistic eye as they fall for each other was special. This is definitely a recommended read! SOOOOOO Good!!

Max & Annie's story is SOOOO GOOD!! Escape is a perfect escape read - the flow of the story, the pacing, the banter of this couple, the supporting characters... all of it comes together beautifully to reveal a wonderful love story! And the connections! Ah, the swoon factor is heavy with this one. High recommendation! : )

Escape by Cybill Cain is a novella that is a cross between a steamy romance and erotica. When Max Alexander, silver screen superstar, finishes his latest movie he needs a break and his old friend offers him exactly that, with a month at an isolated beach B&B on the North Carolina coast, all to himself. An opportunity to be pampered is not one Max was going to turn his nose up at, but little did he suspect this vacation would mark a turning point in his life. Annie Clemons, the woman who runs Escape is a self-contained, artist who has spent virtually all her life at the boarding house that has been in the family for generations. She also has an undying movie crush on the gorgeous Max Alexander. When Max first arrives, sparks fly between the pair and so develops an adventure.
It is obvious that Escape is part of a larger series of books grouped together as Chimera Club stories. Although only a novella, I found the story packed full of intrigue and adventure, not to mention the sex, which was hot, steamy and well written by the author. I do enjoy a good, old-fashioned romance from time to time and this is exactly what Escape is – an escape into fantasy and desire. We all dream of the perfect relationship with the perfect man/woman and Cybill Cain brings us that in Escape. Perhaps Max is too perfect physically, but then again, he is an actor so what can you expect. As pure escapism, it is as good as anything I’ve read lately. If you like your romances with some sexual bite then I’m sure this will prove a winner for you. A good, solid, five-stars for this effort.

I started reading the Chimera Club series a short while ago, and have managed to read them out of order. That doesn't really affect the stories too much, but there are places where the reference to other characters makes the reader stop to think about the relationship between the Chimera Club participants. The book is about a movie star who wants very much to move on and grow into something he's only dreamed of, but he's hesitant to make the step. And then he meets an artist who has never moved out of her own little town but who has created a world that rivals any world traveler's. And it doesn't hurt that when he sees her for the first time, he finds her painting in the nude in her studio. And it doesn't hurt that he's been her "movie boyfriend" for years. This book impressed me for more than one reason. Cybill Cain is an incredible story teller. She doesn't allow the reader to want for any detail or any emotion. They are all there, in the hearts and minds of her characters. In this book Max and Annie mesh together so well, the reader wonders how they didn't know the other existed long before they met. And perhaps they did and were waiting for each other.
If you are into steamy romances that you can bury yourself in, stories that will let you feel good about love and lust, and stories that are incredibly well told, this is the author for you to read. I recommend her books, and hope she's writing another, because I've just run out of Cybill Cain's stories to curl up with.

Somehow I had missed this book in my Cybill Cain reading, so I grabbed it quick before All the Colors of My Heart came out so I was up to speed. This may be my favorite of them all, but it’s really impossible to choose just one! Each book and couple is unique with stories that are all very different, yet they all have amazingly well done components of eroticism, humor and emotion. Max and Annie’s story was sensual, evocative and tender, but with an element of danger that ratcheted up my heart rate and kept me on the edge of my seat. Yet it was the artistic aspects that really resonated with me. I loved the concept of being interconnected with others, even people we’ve never met, and being part of a bigger tapestry. But have no doubt, the tapestry of their story is intricate, vibrant, intoxicating and beautiful!

I received this book as an ARC. Love the dynamics of the two main characters Annie and Max. She is an artist who runs a B&B, he's an actor who needs a change. Lucky for Max his friend James sets him up for a much needed vacation at a quaint B&B where he can relax and regroup after filling his latest movie. Much to his surprise, he meets carefree Annie, who secretly is crushing on Max, who makes him realize what he is missing in his life. After treating him like a normal guy, Annie realizes she really could have feelings for Max, and Max for Annie. While spending a month together and experiencing some crazy things, they realize they enjoy being together. Enjoy the ride as passion rises like the sub on a new day.

What a refreshing love story. Max is a movie star, who really wants to write and produce. Annie is an artist who has spent her whole life in her little place Escape just outside her home town. She pretends not to know who the movie star is when he first arrives at her humble B&B which happens to be co-owned by Max's best friends company, and he is instantly taken withe beautiful artist who paints naked. Throw into the mix a psycho who won't take Annies hell no's to his persistent dating enquiries. Lots of sex and a murder later, will all be lost? Great read.

This entire book took my breath away. I was drawn in so deeply it took my husband pushing me out the bed so I could get ready for dinner. Apparently yelling and poking me didn’t work lol Max and Annie's story was perfection. The ending was squeal worthy. I highly recommend. Happy Reading!

Wow! What a great story. Escape is a beautiful, sensual romance with elements of danger and suspense. Max is a movie star on a break and Annie is an artist and the owner of the B & B he is staying at. From the first there is great passion between these characters and a dreamlike feel to their quickly developing romance. I was totally caught up in this love story. The writing is great and I really enjoyed this book.

Hollywood movie star, Max Alexander has wrapped his latest movie and needs a break. A friend of his offers a stay at a Bed & Breakfast he has invested in so Max can relax and get away for awhile. Annie Clemons the owner/Artist/host at the Bed & Breakfast recognizes him right away but doesn't let him know. I loved the connection they felt when they first met and how it grew the more time they spent together. Together they go on quite a journey to get their HEA but it was worth it. Escape is the second book I've read by Cybill Cain and I loved this one as much as Poker Face. This well written sweet, romantic love story is full of drama, humor, mystery and well developed characters. I'm looking forward to reading the next book by this author.

July 27, 2020Hello, and welcome again to the sweet filthy mind of Cybill Cain. The story of Max and Annie was so much fun to write, because we all have that secret movie star fantasy, don't we? The one where he comes and sweeps us off our feet, proving that everything we thought was true is true? The super steamy scenes were the most fun to write, but the getting to know you portions of the story were the most important aspects to me, because I had to answer the question about whether the fantasy would measure up to the reality. I think it did, and I hope you enjoy this latest installment of The Chimera Club Stories!
