Being a human amidst vampires is hard. Being a woman of a Councilman is harder. Perri has known that vampires existed long before she admitted it out loud. While suffering the loss of the man who treated her like a daughter and trying to build a relationship with Hans, she is quickly entangled in a plot that may destroy the European Vampire Council from within. Hans’ world is falling apart. Lucious and Helena are unreachable, his men are questioning his every move, and he must contain his feelings for Perri to avoid putting her in danger. When he chose to become a Councilman, he never expected that the European delegates would openly declare their defiance. He must find strength within him to protect those close to him. As it stands, his life is not the only one at stake.
*This novella is a spin-off that tells a story of Perri and Hans from Helena Hawthorn Series. ** This is book #4.5 of the series. *** This novella is Young Adult Urban Fantasy in genre.

This series is such an amazing series, I live being immersed and it and I am so glad that Hans and Perri have gotten to tell their own tale! I have always lived Perri and her gentle nature!
This is a novella but the way that this author writes always makes her books seem longer due to all the details and the feeling of fullness that her stories have. I love this storyline and you really see into the inner working of the council and the dangers that that involves. The storyline like in the authors books are highly addictive and as soon as you finished a book in this world you can't wait for the next one!
The other thing that I adored about this book is how we really see who Hans and Perri really are inside and not the people that they have to show the world. Perri is such a gentle woman but a lot of people don't see the strength that runs through her, it may not be the strength that the other female characters in this series have but she is still as strong, especially emotionally and this is shown through everything she has already been through and everything that she has to deal with in this story. My heart really goes out to Hans, he has got to portray himself in such away that exudes power and strength and he has to keep his emotions on a tight leash to keep the people he loves safe. The life of a councilman is a hard life with hard choices and he carries this on his shoulders wanting to keep mortal and immortals safe, he is an extremely good man that will put himself in danger to protect others.
This another amazing book by a fantastic author who writing talent is amazing!!! This is a must read read story that I highly recommend!!!!!
I love this great piece of book. It is awesome as two souls can be so much in love. It is so exciting to see love to bloom in the brink of fight and on top of all it develop to the deeper and passionate feelings for each other in the most unexpected moment. The great story shows the style of genius. May put a lot of effort into this story the same as she does to the main. I love the development of all characters. Should I tell more? I can say that the fighting scenes are catching to the core. I don´t think I wish to see this fight in real or else I scream from fear. It is very realistic.
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
EPUB copy Thank you for the opportunity to take part in reading and reviewing this episode. I have picked-up other books in this series, but please forgive me if I don't read them all at once. Eventhough I may want to binge-read them, there are errands to run and such, so I must pace myself. I have to admit that I liked Maya's story more than this one, when read alone. Who is to say I may change my mind after reading the other works leading up to them. You see, I am not usually a great fan of the average vampire romances with all the angst and self-loathing of these tortured souls and gothic drama that goes with them, but I couldn't put this one down. I HAD to know what happened next until there was nothing left. Yes, their love is probably doomed and they were warned, but they can't seem to help themselves when it comes to each other. I found myself actually feeling sorry for a vampire, well both of them, because of the foreshadowing load of awful others and their own obligations will force them to wade through. All they really want is to lose themselves in each other, but every thing and everyone seems to be doing their best to pry them apart. Is it jealousy; shear quest for power, no-matter what has to be done or who gets hurt in the process; or an utter disregard for life due to self absorption that causes the puppeteers to try to ruin what little joy these two and the other lovers have found? I will be reading the rest in this series through the cracks of my fingers to find out if this is an opera or a fairytale. I'm really hoping for door number 2.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Thank you Ms.Freighter for taking enough pride in your craft as to follow standard grammar guidelines. It is refreshing to not be distracted by on-purpose mistakes. There is enough strife in the world caused by poor communication. Thank you for not adding to it.
This is another fantastic read by May Freighter, this is the story of Perri and Hans you will know them from the cameo parts in the Helena Hawthorn series. If you have read this series from the start then you will know Helena she is the heroine of this series and these are the characters she has met along the way. I loved Perri but my heartaches for them both what with everyone saying that Perri and Hans don’t belong together, they are both gentle souls who need love in their lives but there are too many interfering in what they have. I absolutely loved this book and I know you will too, there’s mystery, suspense and love plus the cover is beautiful but then so are all the covers on May’s books. I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read. Well done May keep the brilliant work up.
This is a great in-between story that gives us a little more insight on Perri and Hans. They are some great characters and I love it when an author takes the time to shed some light into some of the more interesting supporting characters. This novella also gives us a little sneak peek into the next Helena Hawthorn book...just enough to whet your appetite. I'm looking forward to Alexander's novella.
I definite recommend this book if you are into the Hawthorn series. And if you aren't familiar with the series, then you need to read the start of the series (Russian Roulette), but be prepared to become addicted to the series. Don't say I didn't warn you!
This novella is about Hans and Perrie and it starts right after Lucious and Helena takes off to investigate the recent vampire deaths. As Hans is left behind, he faces challenges to the power of the Council from unexpected directions while he strives to keep Perrie safe. I love how May Freighter makes me love each and every character in the series. It doesn't matter who the couple is, this time it was Hans and Perrie, and I was sold. I love the adventure, the love, the new twists in the storyline, and again new characters that keep popping up with each book. She can keep the series ongoing forever and I will be content.
From the first moment we met them, I’ve been fascinated by the relationship between Perri and Hans. Now we get a chance to see the dynamic between them as they try to navigate their new bond while also finding their footing in the new Council atmosphere. There’s lots of action and emotion in this book. And I loved seeing both Perri and Hans find skills and abilities that will help them survive in the turbulent times I’m sure are coming for them. I especially enjoyed seeing the sweet, tender moments the pair are able to share.
There is a sweetness to the main characters that they don't show the rest of the world. It's very satisfying to see how they treat one another outside of the face they show the world. Freighter is a great author and does well with plots and character development. I really love this vampire world and look forward to more in the series!

I haven't read any of the Helena Hawthorne series, but this was cute. I like the bond between Hans and Perri. I like how she shows her emotions for him even when she's confused and feels he doesn't reciprocate. Entertaining from the beginning.

A stunning quick story that is a great addition to the series as a spinoff. We find out Perri and Han's story that helps the reader flesh the characters out. There is love, suspense, danger and survival in this story.

I enjoyed reading this book. It's a book based on the Helena Hawthorn series, but focuses on secondary characters. It's a nice short fantasy read, and I would recommend this book to fans of fantasy novels that have already read the other books in the Helena Hawthorn series by this author.
Great book. This is awesome Urban Fantasy Novella, loved this book very much. Recommend this interesting book very much. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a sweet story of Perri and Hans cementing their relations ship while trying to cement the Council’s European standing. I loved reading them finally recognizing just how special their love for each is.
Sweet Perri and good Hans. I really liked those characters and I was happy to see a bit more of them. In this spin off, love is strengh and determination calls the attention of powerful beings.
While handling her grief perri and hans realized that they have feeling for each other, as both handles various issues while they build their relationship
she is a human in a world of vampires which is hard but what makes it even harder was being a woman of a Councilman. the one who looked after her like a father is dead and she is soon involved in finding about a plot to destroy the council from within. can she find out what is going on? will the council fall? where will it leave her? what a tale
