After a rocky start, wood nymph Laurel and bear-shifter Aiden have made a happy home together in Nocturne Falls. Sure, Laurel is still getting over the trauma of being stalked and almost killed by an old boyfriend, and Aiden keeps having nightmares about his time as an NYPD Detective, but overall, they have a calm, peaceful life. Until their relatives enter the picture. Before they know it, they’re on a road trip to Nashville – accompanied by Laurel’s sister, Aurora, and Aiden’s buddy, Wade – in order to prove that Aiden’s country music superstar father – who he didn’t even know was his father – didn’t commit the crime he’s being accused of. All Aiden and Laurel want is time alone together, but that’s not happening anytime soon. Can they save Aiden’s father and wrangle everyone else into shape before they lose their minds? Or could all the family drama push them over the edge?
The Nocturne Falls Universe stories are a fun way to take up time while we all wait impatiently for the next Nocturne Falls book to be released and unlike some of the stories which can all be read on their own, this one reads better (I think) if you have read the previous universe book by the same author as the story follows up with where they are now. Although the main part of this story, as suggested in the title, takes place outside of Nocturne Falls, the characters keep with the general vibe and make for a cute read - plus there is a talking dog! Who doesn't love that?
Laurel and Aiden are back. When Laurel tries to get Aiden and his mother to reconnect things take a strange turn and they end up headed off to Nashville with Laurels sister and Aidens partner to solve a murder.
I love these two and getting to read more into their adventures together was a treat. I was a little concerned with the direction the story was going early in the story but things righted themselves and the story took turns that weren't expected.
A kindle world novella in Nocturne Falls world created by Kristen Painter. Second in this world by this author. Same couple, extended family and resolving of old issues. Felt a bit like an extended epilogue of the first book. Definitely read the first before this one.
This is the second story by this author in Nocturne Falls Universe and it follows the book The Nymph Next Door, which was absolutely fabulous. This story is equally fabulous and it continues the story of Laurel, a wood nymph and Aidan, a bear shifter from the Sherif's office. In this story we get to know them better, we get to know their friends and family better, as well as the story of Laurel's beautiful dog. This story does not contain a villain, as the first one, but is more focused on the relationships and resolving various issues. There is more focus on the side characters than in the first story and it contributed greatly to the world building and the character development. Is is beautifully written and the characters are well developed. The author has set the characters firmly within Nocturne Falls, so even when they temporarily leave, it is expected of them to return where they belong. I really enjoyed both of the stories and I hope there will be more. Nocturne Falls universe contains 25 books at the moment. Original Nocturne Falls series contains eight books and four short stories, as well as four books of the Jayne Frost spin off series. All of the series are great entertaining light read and I highly recommend them.
This is a great book; this books was written by J.L Farey. This book is also part of the Nocturne Falls Kindle World which is written by Kristen Painter. I was so happy that these new books by new authors were asked to write a story in the town. Nocturne Falls is a town that celebrates Halloween every day of the year and also a place that paranormal’s can live and not have to hide what they really are. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
This is the second book following Laurel and Aiden love life. Well, the story itself was a standalone, in a sense that the problem start and end here. However, Laurel and Aiden became a couple not in this book, so if you want the story of how they got together, you should read the previous book by this author, “The Nymph Next Door”.
There was not much of suspense action, though some mystery was in here. Well, it’s suppose to be an easy read, so it fit that there’s no really suspenseful scene. It was an easy read, very enjoyable, frustrating sometimes with antics from their relatives, but it’s fun nonetheless. Will there be more? I hope so…
I was provided a complementary copy by the author / publisher, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.
This book is essentially a continuation of J.L. Farey's first Nocturne Falls Universe story 'The Nymph Next Door', which I enjoyed - and this one is just as much fun.
Laurel, the Nymph of the title, is a particularly likeable central character, and this story continues to explore her relationship with bear shifter Aiden.
And while 'Nymph Next Door' dealt with things from Laurel's past catching up with her this one sees Aiden facing up to unresolved family issues from his life.
Although it may be a little on the short side (I would certainly have loved a longer story) I still think it deserves five stars 😀
What a treat to once again get to read about Bailey the talking dog. This was such a delightful fast read. I couldn't put it down. I was a little disappointed that we never got Aiden's story about what happened in NYC when he was a cop that caused his nightmares. I'm hoping the next book will tell. This wasn't anything that took away from the book. It was just a side story but I'm one of those readers that can't stand to wait and likes to sneak peeks at endings before the book is over lol. I want more of this author's stories in NFU!
The Nymph Takes Nashville is a continuation of J.L. Farey's Nocturne Falls Universe story about the wood nymph, Laurel, and her soul-bound mate, Aiden, a Bear shifter.
In a well-intentioned attempt to help her lover, Laurel contacts Aiden's mother, who shows up in town unannounced. Adding to the mix is the unexpected arrival of Laurel's sister, Aurora.
But Aiden's mother has news: she knows where Aiden's father is, and he's in trouble.
Laurel and Aidens bond grows stronger as they travel to Nashville, and Laurel takes it by storm. A wonderful story, and definite must-read!
ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! Laurel was trying to do the right thing, but it wasn't working out the way she planned. His mother trying to suppress Aiden's shifting abilities It kept them apart. Now there might be a chance for reconciliation + surprise, his father is in trouble. What is Aiden to do? Help his father or not help his father ? Keep in mind that the father does not know that he has a son. In the end, Aiden does the right thing. Loved the characters
I really enjoyed this story, I loved seeing Adian (bear shifter), Laurell (wood nymph) and Bailey (the talking dog) again! This time Laurell may have overstepped and contacted Aiden's estranged mother to try to get them become a family again.. however his mother shows up not just to see Aiden again, but she knows who Aiden's father is and he is in trouble. Aiden is less than thrilled, should he help his mother and a man he has never even met? So they head out to Nashville to see if they can help. I like these characters and hope to see them all again!
The sequel to The Nymph Next Door this is not a standalone book and you will need to have read the first book in the series before reading this book to get the most from the story. It's a cute story but I felt that some of the characters weren't as rounded out as they could have been. Having liked the first book I was slightly disappointed with lack of well-rounded characters this second book. It's still a cute read and one I'd recommend to those who enjoy Nocturne Falls.
A sequel to Farey's previous NFU book, this follows Laurel the nymph and Aiden the bear shifter as they continue to learn about each other. Family members unexpectedly show up, causing complications and drawing the couple into a murder investigation. I'm excited to finally get the backstory on Bailey the talking dog! A lovely, light and quick story. Enjoy!
What a great continuation to the last story this Arthur wrote for nocturne falls world . This one is still about Laurel a wood nymph and Aiden a bear shifter. Boy family can sure be a problem sometimes but family is family so you do what you have to for them as this book shows. lots of laughs and adventure in this book great writing!!
That was a fun continuation of the story of Laurel and Aiden. Family drama is amazing and really causing chaos of emotions and bring in mothers, sisters and another new love. It really is short but has a good pacing with some great doggy chaos involved. I really want to see how this finishes and unwrap the final mystery between the couple.
2025 bk 170. The story continues (see review of the first) as Aiden, the bear shifter meets his mother after many years apart and learns that she does know who his father is and has rekindled a relationship with him. That isn't the only surprise of this story. The characters and story line are a little bit better developed in this book, an enjoyable read.
This is an enjoyable story with great characters. There is a little something for everyone in this story. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher, my review has been voluntarily submitted.
This is a continuation story and you don't need to read the first one to know what is going on, however it could be helpful. Good story in one of my favorite fictional locations Nocturne Falls. Enjoy!
This is another Nocturne Fall Universe installment. Is a fun and fast read. This is the second book from this author and this book does better if you read the first book before it. I enjoyed it overall.
Absolutely fantastic story and adorable dogs too, the adventure and capers keep coming and even some heartwarming as well as heartwrenching at times, a thorough roller coaster and still amazing, book all round.
Can't wait for more thank you for writing it J. Xxx
I wanted to listen to this while I was in Nashville, but it didn't happen. So I listened on the 3 hour flight home. I actually listened to it twice. Since the plane was so loud, when the audiobook ended, I just started it over again. Not as fun as the first one.
Kristen Painter realized that so man people loved the town of Nocturne Falls that she created a great place where lots of different authors could write short romantic stories about people in Nocturne Falls called A Nocturne Falls Universe. This is one of those books that I was happy to read.
Loved this book and loved the departure from the other NFU books in that she stays with the same two lead characters from her last book to continue their story!
This book includes a lot of family drama, a little bit of mystery, and some cuteness with the two adorable main characters. I loved the ending with these two since they are definitely my favorite of the Nocturne Falls Universe. A bear shifter and nymph…just adorable together.
I give this book 4.5 stars and highly recommend it to readers of PNR, fans of the Nocturne Falls books, and fans of J.L. Farey.
A touch of mystery, a dash of crime, a heaping of paranormal fun all come together to make a fun and entertaining read. Country music stars, nymphs and bears, oh my!
