Whilst I enjoyed the first You Are the Hero immensely, I came under some duress as I thought that it wasn't the complete effort which I was looking for. In light of this, I immediately signed up for the kickstart to fund the second volume, hoping that it would wrong the rights of the initial book. Am I pleased that I did? On the whole, yes!

At first I wasn't so sure about this volume, the first few chapters were a bit cold and let me thinking it would be a slog to get through. Very quickly this changed, however. The rest of the book was excellent.

Employing a natural conversational style, it reads almost like a series of blog posts from FF fanboys than it does a comprehensive history of the subject. At first I thought this was to its detriment, but then I realised that this is exactly what the subject needed. The first volume was more the history of the series, the second an update over the past five years and a celebration of all of the people who still hold it so dearly 35 years later.

Overall I am glad I stumped up for the kickstarter and will be first in the queue for the inevitable third volume for the 40th anniversary. If you, like me, are as obsessed with Fighting Fantasy today as you were all those years ago, then this is clearly a no brainier first day buy.
