The Delaneys of Cambria #2

The Promise of Lightning

Rate this book
Megan Scott’s relationship with California rancher Liam Delaney started off well, but lately it’s been going too far too fast—and it’s beginning to feel like a trap she doesn’t know how to escape. Drew McCray has been embroiled in a feud with his cousin Liam for years, but so far, he’s managed to keep his distance. Now, a wedding in which they’re both groomsmen is forcing the two of them together, for better or worse. Considering that Drew is falling hard for Liam’s girl, it's probably going to be worse. The Promise of Lightning is the second novel in a series readers have called “gripping,” “flawless,” and “a wonderful read.”

Something is brooding. And it isn't a thunderstorm. Or maybe it is...
This book is not about an happily ever after (well, for Colin and Julia it is). But it is a great book!
I can't wait to see what will happen in part 3!
I received a copy and chose to review it.

the vet had a boyfriend who moved from montana to work the ranch in cambria to be with her after only knowing her a few months

he was working building a boat in canada. he didnt know his dad wasnt his dad, that his mom had a affair with his real dad who was in cambria on the ranch. he was mad at his real dad for not contacting him or wanting to be in his life. he inherited millions of dollars . it wasnt till his dad died and 2 yrs later he read the un opened letters his dad wrote to his mom begging to be in his sons life. then he was mad at his mom

his sister was marrying one of the cambria men. he had moved to montana to be with her, but they all came out to cambria for the wedding.

he fell in love with the vet who wanted to break up with her boyfriend but not till after the wedding. but he planned on asking her to marry him at the wedding so she knew she had to tell him first

but he fell off the horse and the horse stepped on him and crushed his leg. he had to have a operation but would be ok

by that time she was already having sex with his cousin. everyone found out. the cousin was going to run back to canada but the x boyfriend came and told him to man up so he went back to cambria from slo to talk to everyone

they decided to take it slow and not have him move out right away. he asked his mom if he could visit her and she liked that

I received an advanced readers copy and am happy to review it. What I love most about Linda's work is her humor, her turn of phrase, and her depiction of true emotions and relationships (whether romantic, familial, or platonic). The setting of her novels is what first drew me to the Moonstone Merchants series, because for me there is no greater escape than the California Central Coast. But now, having read that entire series and the first two of The Delaneys, it is the characters that keep me coming back. It's a blast to get to know them in greater detail as they all try to navigate their lives. When I began The Promise of Lightning, it was like getting together with old friends.

I've also enjoyed watching Linda grow as a writer. Her dialogue is sharp and realistic. Her humor sparkles, and the love scenes are dynamite. After a busy, stressful day at work, there's nothing like hanging out on the Central Coast.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book. I enjoyed the read enough to provide this review.

This is my first book by Linda Seed. Even though this is book 2 in a series, I felt that the story contained enough details that I was able to quickly understand the relationships between characters.

This story begins with the wedding week activities for Julia and Colin Delaney. But I soon realized that the main focus of this book is not the impending nuptials but the love triangle between Megan, the veterinarian; Liam Delaney, the groom's brother and Drew, the bride's brother who is also an illegitimate Delaney cousin.

I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more about the Delaney family and especially matriarch Sandra. Highly recommend.

Drew's had such a tough time accepting the Delaney family, how he fits in and is still struggling to understand everything that has played out in his life. Megan has her own problem within the Delaney family but loves them and thinks of them as her second family. The last thing she wants is to hurt any of them. Ms. Seed does an incredible job with the dialogue between her characters making you feel like you are right there interacting with them! The relationships between the family members are so real, whether they are disagreeing with each other like families do or supporting them through tough times. A great read, which will keep you turning pages to find out how it ends. I received an advance copy from the author and voluntarily leaving my honest review.

I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

I enjoyed this book. I liked all of the characters in this book, even the difficult ones. It is a story of love, guilt, and forgiveness. I enjoyed how the family really came together to support one another. Sandra Delaney is a terrific matriarch. She was one of my favorites in this book.

I liked how the story played out between Drew, Megan and Liam. Liam and Drew's relationship is interesting and I look forward to how it will evolve in future books. While Liam is a difficult person, I actually liked him. I can't wait to read more about the Delaneys.

I love Linda Seed's books. They are always a good read. This book was no exception. I loved the character development of Liam. I could not stand him at the beginning of the book and by the end, I was hoping that his book would be next.
Sandra has long been a favorite of mine and I'm very glad to see she hasn't changed. I love her interaction with the characters in these books.
Anyone looking for a good read with well developed characters, this is the book for you.

The Promise of Lightning

A most interesting story. Delaney ranch was vast in size and each family member had an interest in the ranch. Drew inherited a share in the ranch from his unknown to him, his biological father. Drew traveled to Cambria for his sisters wedding to Colin. He meets his soul mate and things really get interesting at this point. Enjoy their journey getting to know each other.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. I really enjoyed the book it adds to the family dynamics begun in the first book. The feeling of betrayal between Drew and his mother and Redman for keeping secrets from his family. A wedding brings Drew back to Cambria and a chance at love and maybe even forgiveness and a little understanding between family.

This is the best Cambria book so far. Good character development of Liam and Drew, recently introduced as cousins and in love with the same woman (many problems). The series depicts the lives of the Delaney family, wealthy ranchers. Interesting twists and turns in the novel as the characters are developed. Entertaining reading.

This is the second installment of the Delaney series. I enjoyed the first one much more. I think this story could have been told in about a hundred less pages. Also the language was very distracting for me. I accidentally ordered the rest of the set and it's too late to return the ebooks but I'm not sure I'll read them.

A great read with deep and relatable characters! Linda has a way of writing that is poignant but calm (though not at all boring)! I'd recommend reading the first book before starting this to really understand what's going on!

This is a difficult one because although I like the characters, I really don’t like the choices they make. Seriously a lot of self-inflicted misery.

Lovestruck

This story of Drew, Megan and Loan was unique in how Megan was no longer in love with Liam but lovestruck with Drew. It had an interesting twist to the story.

Easy read, predictable

Not a bad book, easy to read and pick up where you left off after a few days, fairly predictable

I'm now a huge fan of Linda Seed, so whenever a new book comes out I tend to go back to the very first book and read again. I googled Cambria, to see where it was, so when I'm reading I can picture where the characters may be and feel very much part of it. I now have all of The Delaneys of Cambria and I highly recommend all of them. Here we have Liam Delaney, Megan Scott, Vet and girlfriend and of course Liam's new cousin Drew McCray this is an interesting triangle who will get the HEA? please purchase the book to find out.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is my first book by Linda Seed, so I was not sure how this would read. I can honestly say it is well written, with a good story plot. As I was reading I felt that I was taken into the story and was there. Didn't want to put the book down. Will be purchasing book one now and cannot wait for the next one. Thank you Linda for a fantastic book.
