The riskier the setting, the higher the score. The more innocent the girl, the bigger the payoff. The harder the conquest, the harder you f*ck. Rule Number One?
Just never get caught.
I know what I am. A man without a conscience. I had my heart broken once, but there won't be a second time. Now, sex is just a game and love doesn't exist.
I live for The Competition. For the challenge… the chase… the conquest.
Did you ever wonder if you could do it? Have sex in public… without getting caught?
Just the thought makes my blood run hot and my c*ck rock hard.
Maybe it's the billionaire lifestyle. A man gets jaded, so he creates a game… Others play for money, but I play to win.
Business and fortune are on the line, and scandal could strip it away forever.
And that's what makes my heart pound… and my c*ck pound harder. There's no bigger thrill, nothing more exciting, than getting away with it.
But I knew it was game over when I met Emily. Secrets never stay secret. Sooner or later, one of us would get caught.
3,8. Achei o enredo legal, apesar de ser mais do mesmo. Porém, a autora conseguiu chamar a atenção pelas cenas quentes descritas de uma maneira legal, sem ser vulgar e pelos diálogos. Gostei!!
I have to say I haven't read all of Riley Rollins book's but the ones that I have read have been all five stars reads . The competition is another 5 star read. I love the chemistry between Chase and Emily, the hotness between these two is just WOW!!! With all the craziness in there lives, I enjoyed the story.
Happy Reading Lisa *** I voluntarily reviewed a advanced reader copy of this book.*******
Wow, this was so bad. First, this story only takes up 50% of the book and in this case I am very thankful because I wanted to throw it down in disgust many times, but I always believe in giving a book a fair chance before a negative review. I wish I had given up, but my pain is your gain, so you don't have to suffer like I did. Alright, let's start with the premise... supposedly. These rich guys make crazy bets about having sex with the most innocent and unattainable girls in public. Now our main guy has been out of that game for over a year, so this story really isn't about that except as it relates to his sleazy partner Sutton. So psych, not really about what you thought or were led to believe by the blurb. We are also led to believe that our main guy falls for this "good" girl. Yeah, not sure why and while the author tried to sell us that she was a good girl, I saw absolutely no evidence of it. She repeatedly spied on creepy Sutton having public sex while practically drooling until caught by our guy. A real good girl would have been embarrassed and walked away. Then in every encounter with our main guy she is practically trying to bang him whether he wants it or not. It's right down embarrassing at times. If he had a bet on getting her, she wouldn't be worth much with as easy as she would have been to take in pubic if he actually tried. They were never enough conversations between them to even begin to understand why they would fall madly in instant love. The connection was so forced by the author it was jarring. Now let's get to the supposedly conflict of the story. Sutton is going to get caught having sex publicly and ruin their multibillion dollar company. Well, first off, these girls were consenting and choosing to have sex with him in a public place. It would ruin their reputation more than his. There was nothing that scandalous about it and certainly nothing that would bring down an entire company. He's a single rich guy and the only few who knew betting was involved could have kept that to themselves and there never could have been a hint of a scandal. If was such a made up badly implemented plot. Another wrong facts plot is that having sex with an adult is not illegal if you think she is a minor. It's illegal if you think she is an adult and discover she is a minor. It isn't the intent as they all stupidly claimed, it's the facts Jack. The dude was a sleazy perv, but did nothing illegal. And if I was the bride at that wedding, I would have been all kinds of mad having my big day ruined like that. It was completely inconsiderate. Yeah everything about this book screamed not well thought out, made up incorrect facts used throughout. It was just all so fake it was nauseating. This author has no imagination and has gone on my Do Not Read list.
I had someone post on Amazon in reply to this review to not give up on this good author! Barf!!! Go read The Hunt by Alice Ward. It's everything this book tried to convince us it was, just done so right. The good girl is actually a good girl full of spunk and personality. There is an actual sex bet. The story pulls you in, makes you laugh then rips your heart out! It only takes up half the book and I was sad because I wanted more, yet thrilled that we got another free book by the author included! Why oh why would I waste my precious time reading this authors drivel when there are obviously so many more talented authors out there to read as proven with the very next book I read after this one. Skip this trash and go read The Hunt! And nope I am in no way affiliated with that author, just know blah from brilliant!
The Competition by Riley Rollins a five-star read worth winning. I adore Riley Rollins she writes funny and compelling characters; this book has a compelling storyline that could have easily been overdone but this author has such a way with words that it’s easy to read and so well done you won’t be able to put it down. Christopher Chase is a man you could easily dislike with the way he behaves and the past he has led, but he is someone you soon come to realise that he has more sides to him that you first realise and he soon becomes someone you would want in your life. Emily Parrish is a woman with a plan she just wants her business to succeed and will do it any way she can, I like her drive and determination the lengths she is willing to go to just to get her gran the medication she needs. If you are wanting a read with a great story of perseverance and dedication as well as some wrong doing that may be dealt with in the end or may not, then this is the read for you.
This was another great book by Riley Rollins. It was well written and the characters well developed. I loved Emily and Chase together. They had an instant attraction attraction and their chemistry was hot. I would recommend this one. *I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.
The Competition is an inst-love story that is bet kind of love story. I don't know if I liked this story as much as the others but I did read and finish it. So I guess that says something. I don't think I would reread it. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.
This book is about partners that make a bet on who can get to have sex out in the open at parties. Chase has not been betting for over a year and has advised his partner to stop before they have a lawsuit on their hands.
Emily has her own bakery and caters for party's and is trying to get back on her feet with her side job. She had loss her parents when was young and has been living with her grandmother and hasn't had time for dating.
Mr. Chase is running the party and is a man that is full of love and cares about his sister and is very overprotective man. The man works hard and when he makes good sales his dad will show. Chase doesn't get along with his dad as he hasn't show any love towards his kids. His mom had walked out when was younger so didn't know their. Mom.
At the Party that is been hosted by Mr Chase and his partner, Emily is carting and has made all the desserts and serves the drinks. Mr Chase has caught his eye on Emily and follows her though out the party and trying to keep her safe from his partner. Chase has falling hard for Emily and catches up with her after the party and asked her out to supper and have found that their is something between them. So they can see that they can't live each other and Chase tells her about the bet and she gets upset and ends up talking to his sister about what is going on and find that the man love hards. They get back toyand try to find away for the partner to pay for everything he has been doing to the woman for the last yr. they work out a plan together to have the partner realize his mistakes. Happy ever after book.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I loved it! The story drew me in from the beginning. The H, Christopher Chase, is a wealthy businessman who has grown up always seeing things as a competition. In the not so distant past that competition has even included sexual conquests. Although he has decided that the competition game has gotten out of hand and he no longer wants to participate, his business partner does not feel the same and keeps pushing the limits. When his partner throws a wild party with desserts/drinks catered by the h, Emily, and her co-workers, Chris (Chase) can't take his eyes off her. When she sees what takes place at the party she is taken aback, but also aroused. Chris assures her he is no gentleman, but she wants to get to know him anyway. She learns another side to him and sees him for the man he is inside, but the question is can he see himself that way? When his business partner finally goes too far what will Chris do to finally stop "The Competition " once and for all? In ending the game will he also lose Emily, the woman he has come to love? I definitely recommend one-clicking this book if you are looking for a quick, HOT read with a well deserved HEA.
Is it easier to forgive a good man? That's the question posed in this book, as Emily and Chase first fall in love then Emily's love is tested when the truth comes out about the Competition that Chase used to participate in with his business partners. Ultimately the question is, can Chase forgive himself?
This is an amazing story, very well-written with a gripping storyline and complex, authentic characters. The steamy action grabs you from the very first scene, but quickly moves to more meaningful developments. The love story beautifully unfolds while the Competition unravels. This secondary storyline provides the comparison between a good man who makes stupid mistakes and a selfish man who doesn't consider his actions to be wrong. As such, this story is much more than a simple romance, providing us with a character study that examines the motivations of all playboys that redeem themselves as book boyfriends.
This author has given us yet another fantastic romance with a creative slant and a deep emotional impact. If you like steamy romances with a solid heartfelt foundation, this is the book for you. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I originally wasn't going to read this book as the blurb simply didn't sound original, but it had a high rating and reviews that seemed to indicate there was more to it than that. But alas, no, it was just that. Tired plot and flat characters.
Overwhelming issue I found with this book was the massive overuse of ellipses (...). Ellipsis here... ellipsis there... ellipsis freaking everywhere. One... five... even 10 on a single page. In the entire book, there were only 4 pages without, and yes, I checked, because I couldn't believe an author would use so many. Those 4 pages were all partial pages at the end of chapters: one half page, one page having only 4 lines, and 2 pages that each only had 2 lines. Of course, these gloriously ellipsis-free pages were offset by the multiple 2-4 line pages that *did* have an ellipsis.
I did read, and enjoy, the earlier-released bonus book. Slightly fewer ellipses and much better story.
P.S. Eye candy is great and all, and that first picture can really help convey the idea behind a book, but if your Hero has black hair, please don't put a blonde on the front cover (not even one as nice as this guy).
Note: I received an Advanced Review Copy in exchange for my honest review. I also do not include in any of my reviews anything that could spoil your reading of the book (so no spoilers or over expressing the "feelings/moments")
I was very unsure of what to expect when I read the synopsis for 'The Competition'. The concept of the book is sorta unique but I've read books by Riley Rollins before which I enjoyed so figured "open-mind". Now having read it, I REALLY liked it. The plot is a bit more than you'll come to expect and the characters are great too. You really understand each of their feelings and thoughts, and there's some small twists and turns between the beginning and the end. It's endearing and fun - making a great read.
In my opinion, you'll be really happy with this read. It's a great length, has some feel good moments and some hot action too. Everything romance should be! If you've read anything by the author before this is a great one to add to the list, and if you haven't read Riley Rollins before - this is a great start for sure.
This is a wonderful story about Chris and Emily. They both come from a different way of life and experiences. The title tells us there is a competition but would you believe that it's about women! Chris is a wealthy man who made some bad choices earlier in his adult life and has a hard time dealing with them. He strives to not be a part of it any longer and you see his character grow up and mature into a man and you want to be a part of his life. Emily is a young woman who has a plan to become a successful business owner and is the good girl following all the rules. She cares for her Gran and does what is necessary to make sure she has her medicine. Emily gets a taste of being bad and it throws her world around a bit. I enjoyed how Chris allows his heart and kindness to show with his sister and Emily. This story shows you that if you can dedicate yourself to your goals and remember that some bad can turn into a whole a lot of good! I received an Advanced Reader Copy and I am leaving a voluntarily review.
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Emily Parrish and Christopher Chase. These two come from two different worlds. Emily is a hard working woman who is just trying to keep the shop that her grandfather started alive while taking care of her sick grandmother. Christopher is a multi-millionaire who use to look for his next challenge but something changed him and now he is trying to be better. Both of them want to do what is right but when they meet that though slips down a few notches. Can they have what they want and still be better in the long run or will they end up destroying one another in the process?
This book is amazing it will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would normally give you more information about both characters. However in this book I wonder if I will give away something that will ruin it for other readers. I am a person who hates spoilers so I won't give them to any others. I would highly recommend though this book to anyone and everyone.
Seriously ladies. This was a story with one of the weakest plots I have ever read. The competition isn't as horrible and dread inducing as the blurb makes it out to be. Especially since the hero no longer plays a part in it. I don't get how any females can sue a dude for letting him do what she willingly consented to in the first place. Its the 21st century. If you let a dude you've know all of 5 minutes stick his pole in you in public, I figure you made that decision willingly.
And the heroine and her grandmother... The beginning. "Be a good girl", "Come home on time", "Don't do this, don't do that" Really? Girl works her ass off to support the old bat. The least she should do is show some affection or appreciation.
For me this a dead plot driven by lots of masturbating and senseless sex scenes. A love that unfold without a good supporting story paired with not enough happy moments to make it stick.
And the cover model doesn't look anything like the description in the book...

I loved the latest from Riley Rollins! A competition, a reformed(sort of) member of the game and a the woman who will make him want to change everything. Chase has lived his life by his own set of rules and reaped the rewards, but the last year he has found himself not wanting to partake in the betting that goes on between him and his group of friends. When things go too far in the latest scheme his business partner thinks up he finds himself willing to risk it all in order to get the woman he falls for. Emily's life changes in the blink of an eye when she takes on a catering job for the group of friends that includes Chase. Emily has lived her life for others, but Chase will make her want to live her life for herself. I loved Chase and Emily and the lengths she will go to in order to have Chase's back when he needs it the most. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Chase and his friends drew up a pact years ago, and that was to treat sex as a competition, have sex in public and never get caught, and the bigger the risk the better. Over time Chase has withdrawn from these games, and one of his friends is determined to drag him back in. Unknowingly Emily is the pawn and prize for this dangerous game. Chase has had his eye on Emily, and the chemistry between these two is explosive, and he is determined to protect her at all costs. No spoilers; this is a must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a well written and unique storyline which is raw, gritty, intense, and loving, with the drama, twists, and secrets which had me hooked and intrigued throughout. I loved the banter of the secondary characters as well. I highly recommend this authors work for all readers, and look forward to reading more of her work. Amazing story Riley!! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book!
**I received this ARC in exchange for an honest voluntary review** Wasn't sure I was gonna like this one but definitely glad I gave it shot bc I loved this! As much as the hero, Christopher Chase, comes off as an a-hole in the blurb, that's not so much the case in the story. Excellent character & relationship builds. Story pacing was great, as well as time transitions. Compelling story background that will hook you from the start, explaining The Competition between a group of wealthy friends. Only now Chris no longer wants any part of it, even more so when he lays eyes on Emily at a party she's catering. Chris's friend & business partner, Sutton, has other ideas for her though. Can Chris keep her away from being another thrilling conquest or will his own past come back to haunt & ruin them both? Definitely some extra sweet moments as well as hot tension & even hotter sexy times. Would recommend! :D
THE COMPETITION is a steamy contemporary romance about a billionaire, who created The Competition among his business partners whose goal was to seduce women in public without getting caught , and an innocent-looking caterer who would have been one of their conquests had it not been for the fact that Chase fell in love with Emily at first sight.
The Competition was absolutely fantastic! The story was unique and intriguing and taught a beautiful lesson on taking chances and redemption. Chase was a classic example of men turning over a new leaf, the minute he realized that Emily was worth the world to him. She brought out the best in him. Together, their chemistry was off the charts and it was simply game over because when they fought for their love for each other, they have won. This book was a definite winner!
I have read an advanced copy of this book and this is a fair and honest review and recommendation voluntarily shared.
Emily and Chase meet at a party... her being the caterer, him being the host and co-owner of a big and successful company. His co-owners still play a game he once invented... The Competition. Because of his past he feels unworthy of Emily and fights against his feelings for her and the temptation to make her his... only to loose his own challenge...
This must be one of the hottest books I have read so far. I loved the slow and torturing buildup of erotic tension. I loved the plausibility of the characters and their trains of thought and their struggle against their mutual feelings. And I loved the variety of levels and ways on which they got and comprehended each other. And I loved the storyline and the unexpected twists the author added to hold the tension on a high level throughout this fast paced and thrilling story. This is another masterpiece of Riley Rollins and an absolute must read!
Riley Rollins does it again. This time there is Chase, who I believe fell in love with Emily at first sight. Then there is Emily who is trying to keep her catering company afloat by any means necessary. Chase and his friends are very privileged and used to getting their way. He and his friends created a competition to have sex with woman in public. Depending on the woman, there could be quite a bit of money on the line. Chase, who started the game, got out quite a while ago. At thirty-one and part owner in a multi-billion dollar company, there was too much at risk should they get caught. His partner, Sutton, on the other hand has other ideas. Chase and Emily are never part of the game but he has really strong protective instincts with her. Will she end up part of the competition? Will they all be found out? How will it end? You'll need to read the book to find.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.
This was a fantastic book, it was a page turner for me.
Emily is struggling to keep her grandfather’s catering business afloat and also looking after her grandmother. Chase is a billionaire, co-owner of a successful business and a member of a group of friend who play The Competition. They wager on women and have sex in public, the riskier the better but you can’t get caught. Emily caters for his friends Sutton party, they have to wear sexy outfits. Emily sees who the real Sutton is like, but his party leads to more work for the company. Chase is taken by Emily and tries to keep her away from Sutton, the game blows up in their face after a women complains. Can Chase convince Emily that he wants her? Does the blow up leave them unable to have any type of relationship?
HOT MUST READ BOOK!! I give this book 5 stars. The storyline between Chase and Emily was well written. Emily is the owner of a catering business and lives with her grandmother, that she has been taking care for a long time. Her grandmother is upset with her because of the change in what they are cooking. Chase is a billionaire that used to love competition and the women that made him work he it. He meet Emily at the event she was catering for the business. She see one of his partner having sex behind the bar and Chase stop her from going over to stop them. This is a case of extreme insta lust and hot sences. The whole heartedly recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
The Competition was truly an arousing, engaging read! Chase and Emily couldn't be more different. The sizzling attraction between them was apparent from their very first meeting. I found their dialogue intriguing and sexy. Every thought, every emotion, could be felt through their every word uttered and their every enticing bit of contact. I loved it! And the competition games! Those games Chase's club of friends played were sexy and hot, but never did Chase think he'd meet someone like Emily. Will he play now? How do they survive the misunderstandings, and how far will Chase take things with Emily? This is a must read, and my favorite book of Riley Rollins to date! I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and also bought a copy.
This was a really good book! A different storyline than any other book I have read which made it different from other books. Chase and Emily were great characters. Emily was a truly devoted granddaughter who did everything to try to please her grandmother. But she was strong because she was running her business and making tough decisions to make money to help her grandmother. Chase was an alpha billionaire, but you could sense the goodness in him. He may not have had a good childhood, but his relationship with his sister proved he had a big heart no matter what he did in his past. Lots of fun sexy scenes and a very sweet HEA. Definitely an author I want to read more of!
Chase has been out of the competition for a year, but his associates still carry on the tradition, even though it could destroy the company and peoples lives. Emily is trying to build up her catering business and works one of Chase's parties. Once they meet, they find an instant attraction and sparks fly. He knows if he stays around her, her life could be destroyed too, but he can't deny what his heart and body needs and wants. Their relationship develops even though his secrets are keeping him from full disclosure. When she finds out the truth, she makes a pact to stick by his side. He learns to forgive himself and they learn that true love heals all. I absolutely loved this book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Hotness galore in this tale of pleasure games and obsessions! The Competition grabbed my attention took me on an exciting, sensual ride, which comes with not only pleasure but one filled with guilt, disesteem and finally acceptance, as I watched Chase and Emily find themselves separately and together throughout this hot angsty tale. Blackmail, Debauchery, Family knows best, & Love in the midst of it all! Not what I was expecting, but I am certainly not disappointed! The characters and all the craziness made for one helluva story I was all in and would read again! Rilley Rollins knocked this one out!
“The Competition” by Riley Rollins is an exciting fun book. Emily and Chase have terrific chemistry and a sizzling hot romance. I enjoyed these two characters tremendously. They both have great depth and well developed characters. Chase is introduced as a womanizing billionaire who uses women in a competition with his business partner. Emily is the caterer for one of Chase’s erotic parties. She is young and innocent enough to be the perfect challenge. There is romance and excitement throughout the book. I enjoyed how the book ended. It left me with a smile on my face. If you read this book you won’t be disappointed. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
This book has quite an interesting plot. The blurb hints at it a bit, but the story turns out to be way better than I could have imagined.
Is it erotic? Yes! But it also has the sort of sweetness that not only makes you yearn for happily-ever-afters but keeps you turning the pages searching for the thrill you know is there. The plot twists are well-coordinated into the story line, along with great character development.
Another good one, Ms. Rollins!
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book, and recommend it, especially to those romance fans who love a bit of thrill added to their love scenes!
Wow what a great book . ask yourself could go for a guy that felt he had to compete with other to feel right with the world , and thing he and his friends are competing against is how many women they can bag. Emily is a good girl at heart just trying to run the business that was left in family when her job has run into party bad boy Chase that can't seem to get her out his head no matter how hard he tries and when his friend want her as well that is when all he'll breaks lose. I received this book as an arc for a honest review and I can say that there where parts in this book that want you say Emily wake up he's the good guy at heart.
