Sam is the hall monitor at Eerie Elementary, but his job requires more than watching out for students doing things they aren't supposed to. Instead, he, along with his friends Lucy and Antonio, must protect the school from Orson Eerie. He's a scientist who made himself a part of the school.
Now, Orson spends his days wreaking havoc on unsuspecting students, especially Sam. What better chance to cause some chaos than during a Kickball Showdown? Orson tries to get Sam in trouble and winds up getting him fired from his role as hall monitor, but Sam isn't going to give up that easily.
I really enjoyed the spooky element in this story and love the whole idea of a school being controlled by an evil scientist. I love how Lucy and Antonio are always there to help Sam when he needs it and that they're a powerful team. This was my first Eerie Elementary book but it makes me want to look into more.
Final Verdict: I recommend this to early readers who are getting into chapter books, especially those who like spooky, unique, and mysterious stories.

Perfect scary chapter book!
In this series, Sam and his friends Antonio and Lucy are hall monitors. They are some of the few students who know a secret: their school is alive! About a century ago, scientist Orson Eerie became the school. It is Sam’s job to protect all of the students and teachers.
In this book, Sam started having trouble with his job. Of course it was really the school causing all the trouble. Sam got tied up in the merry-go-around. Things began to get bad for all the hall monitors. Lucy slammed the door in a teacher’s face. And Antonio’s backpack leapt into the hallway in front of their teacher’s feet. Mr. Eerie was behind all the mischief. After several incidents, the teacher had enough and kept them after school to scrape gum off the desks. As you can imagine, the school, a.k.a. Mr. Eerie, went nuts. He got the kids in trouble again. All three hall monitors were fired!
That is exactly what the school wanted because there was a big kickball showdown coming up and all the school would be there. Could Sam and his friends protect the students and teacher from Mr. Eerie? You’ll have to read the book to find out.
Most kids I know would love this book. It’s fun and creative with great characters. I really liked Sam. He never gave up in protecting his school. I see that there are other books in this series and I can’t wait to read those. I give this book 5 stars and recommend it for kids ages 6-8.

{My thoughts} –Sam, Lucy and Antonio get in a lot of trouble in this book. Orson Eerie decides to take a different approach and by doing so does what he can in an attempt to get them all fired from being hall monitors.
This book helps to show children that when you truly believe in things. That you should stand up and fight for those things.
I recommend this book for anyone that has read the previous books in the series. I also think that children who are just being introduced to short chapter books with also enjoy it.

Another Eerie Elementary book where Orson Eerie as the school is trying to make life very difficult for Sam, Lucy, and Antonio. This time there is a lot of gum, the kids get fired as hall monitors, and kickball game. My daughter and I had to laugh at the images of the kickball in this book.
These books are predictable in a way and are still fun to read out loud. There is enough adventure and crazy things go on that it’s hard to not read it all in one sitting. We’re having so much fun with this series.

Sam Graves, and is best friends Antonio and Lucy are hall monitors who protect Eerie Elementary from Orson Eerie who has embodied the school for his own evil plans. This adventure finds themselves fired from their duties as Orson Eerie plans to takeover the school during the annual kickball tournament. The trio must think of a way to save the school and thwart Orson's evil plans.

My 7 year old can’t get enough!
This series is perfectly fast paced and entertaining to keep my 7 year old demanding more chapters. He has developmental delays so we are doing reading time together. He is completely invested in the story despite normally struggling to sit still. This series is designed for growing an avid reader!

Orson Eerie Came very close in this book. I was glad to see that Sam held onto his responsibility even when the adults didn't. He is a very brave child.

This book is written for young readers who are embarking on chapter books - those pre-novel readers, especially boys. The fast pace action is a good fit.
