I really enjoyed this one, probably more so than the first two books in the series. I wasn't sure how I'd like Cash after our introduction to him in the first two books, but by the end of this book, I really understood him and his actions a lot more.
Cash is one of the Walker Five, a group of cousins who run their family ranching business. He served with Dillon in the military and they both retired after one of their fellow teammates was killed in action by an IED. That friend who was killed is the brother of the heroine, Abbi. She arrives in town to get answers from "Reno" a.k.a. Cash Walker about what really happened with her brother since her family doesn't believe what the Army told them. She ends up hooking up with Cash at a bar and it's not until the next day that she finds out who he was. Oops.
From there they begin spending more time together and developing a relationship. While a week or two together that turns into love is usually unrealistic, I didn't find that to be the case this time. They spent a lot of time together, got to know one another, including their fears and family drama, and they even worked the ranch together. I admired Abbi's willingness to learn everything there was to know about Dillon's family ranching business. She really surprised me with her enthusiasm for something as mundane as operating a combine.
I honestly didn't have many issues with either Abbi or Cash. Sure, they had their hang-ups, but that was to be expected and I'd have been surprised if everything was perfect. I can't fault Abbi for her reaction to the truth either. It took a lot longer than I expected for them to make up, but that big gesture was awesome!
The ending was a bit disappointing since it leaves us hanging and wanting more insights into their future. But I know we'll hear more of that in the next books.
