A book replete with ironies as Tommy Thomas is now Auditor General to Tun Mahathir, a prime minister again after a 15 year hiatus and one of the many key actors which Tommy waylaid in his accounting of abuses.

How so, as it chronicles the opinions of the Malaysian Bar and his own critical judgement of the then government and the government of today through Tommy's incisive exposition of constitutional and legal abuses.

Borrowing Tommy's own words; one hopes that as the principal officer legal office of the Executive (Tommy's now the Attorney General!), he would NOT suffer the same consequence of restraint of the past, in upholding the constitution as the AG.

Awesome read! Invoking debate it does!

Opens bare the scandalous, treacherous and sometimes even raunchy constitutional and political events of the 1980s through to 2014 through the cold hard, and hopefully unbiased lens of the law.

Very informational. The book is perfect for those who wanted to understand issues surrounding constitutional crisis and maladies that has been happening in malaysia and has been much talked in the news. It explained in detail and does instill in me a new found pride for my constitution. Some of the article though, would be much better if the entirety of why it was written is known. For instance, there is a reactionary article written by Tommy Thomas in the book, in response to Tun Dr Mahathir commentary. It would be much better knowing what is Tun mahathir comment before reading this reactionary article.

Interesting read for certain especially reflecting when the deeds of Tun M was revealed when he was the PM back in the 80's. It was all too surreal when Tommy highlighted the unfairness of the judicial system and when I read it then, I hoped Tommy would proceed to transform and reform those gaps in his role as a a AG.

This book contains provocative accounts on the state of human rights, democracy, and the Malaysian legal system as a whole. It is an interesting read indeed to see and discern the reality behind the legal system in Malaysia.
