⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! With This Man, book 4 of 4. Jesse Ward is back with count-downs & punitive fucks, but also a mature, vulnerable & compromising Jesse!

“Your Punishment Fuck is cancelled.”

Books in This Man series should be read in order:
Book 1: This Man
Book 2: Beneath This Man
Book 3: This Man Confessed
Book 4: With This Man

This Man Trilogy is the intense, epic saga about private sex club owner Jesse Ward aka The Lord, Mr. Sexy, Bossy, Compulsive and Secretive Extraordinaire, in his relentless pursuit and seduction of interior designer, Ava O’Shea. Their story was filled with covert pasts and hidden agendas! A wild, bumpy and emotional journey loaded with intrigue, shockers, undiluted lust and mind-bending sex plus their compulsive and intense love.

It introduced us to all that is sex/fucking with Jesse:
Reminder fucks, Sleepy sex, Make friends sex, Shower fucks, Hangover sex, Catching up sex, Sense fucks, Seeing stars fucks, Apology fucks, Possessive fucks, Retribution fucks, Sleepy celebration sex, Alfresco fucks, Proposal fucks, Truth fucks, Compromise fucks, Quiet fucks, Sleepy twilight sex, Romantic fucks and Punishment fucks.

With This Man, book 4 opens up to life for Mr. and Mrs. Ward and their family. It’s been over a decade since we last saw them and aside from Jesse being slightly traumatized by his impending big five-o, their life is its own kind of well-balanced and harmonious normal. Until tragedy strikes. This is the story of their long road back.

Brilliantly, sexily and humorously told in flashbacks and unfolding current events. Jesse is still over-the-top bossy, dirty-talking, possessive, needy, inflexible larger-than life with count-downs and corrective fucks. But there is also the protective father, at times, compromising husband and the vulnerable, entertaining somewhat self-reflecting and humble man…

After all these years I find I’m still on “Central Jesse Cloud Nine”. Eight words to describe Jesse Ward aka The Lord: Intense, bossy, compulsive, enigmatic, possessive, impatient, dirty-talker and reflective.

Eight words to describe Ava (O’Shea) Ward: Easy-going, strong, focused, stubborn, trusting, resilient, patient and meek.

With This Man, told from dual POVs, is a long-ish extended epilogue with just the perfect blend of intrigue, steam, romance, surprises, angst and suspense. Going in I had no idea what to expect given how book 3 left Jesse and Ava, but I am happy to report Ms. Malpas did a phenomenal job of evolving their story and pulling us into current events while keeping it true to the characters we love. There are count-downs & theme fucks courtesy Jesse who’s his usual bossy and possessive self, but we also see the man he must become to protect his family and his love for his Ava.

Captivating! Intense! Epic. Three. Two. ONE. ZEROOO! I say 6-ish stars!

“He rolls those damn gorgeous hips into my groin, using his power over me like the weapon it is. “We need to make friends.”

THE LORD IS BACK!

You may scream. There is no shame.

Jodi had a very witty idea and had created an attention-grabbing game with the series’ fans. She made Ava forget.
Ava has a horrible accident and she forgets the last 12-13 years of her life. The most important years of her life. She forgets about Jesse and about their children.
So, while Ava tries to remember and Jesse tries to help her, we basically revisit all the important moments of their life together. All the heart-breakings and the making up.

The book has mainly Jesse’s POV. So in this way, we can actually see how he was feeling during the first three books of the series as well:
-how he felt, when he met Ava,
-how he was feeling when he was pursuing her and she was running away,
-how much broken he was when he was rejected and almost destroyed himself,
-how important it is for him to maintain control of Ava and their family in general so that he will not be lost and desperate, so that he will have a purpose.

If you loved Jesse in the first three books, you will adore Jesse in this book. You will fall in love with him the same way Ava will fall in love with him. All over again!

Jesse’s shocking realization that he turned 50 will be added to his wounded pride when Ava more or less calls him old asking him if he is older than her mother. But then, they will start one of their favorite games ‘How old is Jesse?’ This time the game starts from 20-one years old.

Obviously this is not a standalone. There are many inside jokes that I suppose only if you are series hardcore fan you will realize.

I was so happy that this is one of the rare romance books with older main characters. I love books with mature characters in their forties and fifties who fall in love like they are in their twenties.

Jesse is middle-aged and he is sexier than ever. Ava is approaching 40 and Jesse does not allow her to feel insecure at all. He basically just forbids her to do any plastic surgery.

They are both crazy for each other,
they fight like teenagers,
they are jealous and possessive,
they care deeply and
they love without limits.

A peek:

I pluck the calla from the middle of the vase and turn, handing it to Ava. She’s unsure as she reaches for it, eyes flicking from me to the flower. “It’s beautiful.”
I smile mildly and pull her on. “Understated elegance,” I say over my shoulder, relishing the beam she gives me in return. “They’re your favorite flowers.”
“Since when?”
“Since the day you met me,” I tell her as we approach my old office, thinking I was quite romantic back then after all. I look up at the solid wooden door, my mind bombarded with so many memories, the most poignant and important being the first time that Ava O’Shea wandered in.

‘I once told you that I wanted to look after you for ever.’ I hold her eyes, never wavering. ‘I meant it, baby. For ever isn’t over yet. Never will be, not for us. I love you. You are the best part of me, Ava. The greatest part. That can’t be forgotten.’"

Back on Central Jesse Cloud Nine!!! 💕

Oh.My.Goodness! This book was pure bliss!
This Man Trilogy in one of my favorite series of all time and this last installment was one of my most anticipated book this year. And let me tell you that author JEM did not disappoint. She delivered the perfect ending to this fan-freaking-tastic epic series. It was a wonderful experience to rediscover one of the most powerful and beautiful love story that I had the joy of reading and featuring two of the most endearing characters, ever. I fell in love with Ava and Jesse all over again, if not even more.

This book takes place 12 years into their marriage. They are happily married with their beloved 11-years-old twins, Jacob and Maddie. The chemistry between these two is still electrifying and their love for each other still passionate, intense, all-consuming, and stronger than ever. Their life is nothing short of perfection until Ava has a terrible accident causing her to lose the memory of the last 16 years of her life. Ava can’t remember anything about her husband and her kids and for Jesse this cold and hard reality is just pure agony. She thinks she’s twenty-two, single and just starting out in her career. Jesse is determined to move mountains to make sure she finds him and the twins amid that chaos in her poor head. There’s no way he’s going to allow their history to slip away like it never happened. Once again Jesse will have to trample anything in his sight to get what he wants. And he wants his wife back desperately. The woman he can’t live without, the woman who holds his life in her hands.

‘This head of yours.’ I gently stroke down her cheek, relishing her slight nuzzle into my palm. ‘It’s been consumed by me for twelve years, lady. I’m not about to let you forget our story. I will make you remember. It’s my mission objective. I’ll do anything.’

It was wonderful to be inside Jesse’s head. He is one of my favorite book boyfriends, and I frankly love the way his mind works. Mr. Dominate Controlling Obsessive and Hotter than hell Lord of The Manor is back in all his glory. All over again I was completely enthralled with Ava and Jesse’s story. The story line is addictive and captivating and the sex between these two is always hot and explosive. I adored their kids too. They rounded out the story line and added a lot to my reading happiness. And let's not forget all the other amazing supporting characters, old friends Kate, Sam, Drew, Raya and John who complement this story wonderfully by giving it even more value, depth and emotion.

I think this ending was beautiful and so perfect for this explosive, passionate and intense couple. This book showcased wonderfully the strength of Ava and Jesse’s love, their deep-soul-love connection and I loved every word of it. Brillant!

5 BILLION ‘ Ain’t no man on this planet like Jesse Ward’ Stars

Talk about the mother of ALL Jesse’s tramples! The EPIC, unforgettable kind that is!

‘With This Man’ is an heart-wrenching, soul touching, mind-blowingly beautiful, deep and unparalleled emotional rollercoaster that took Jesse and Ava’s already epic love story to a whole new, and unthinkable height of brilliance.

What am I going to do? How do I fix this? The only thing in this world that keeps my heart beating doesn’t know who I am.

There’s only one way to approach this. Gently. Patiently. Sensitively. Softly-softly. I blow out a breath, laughing at myself. Good God, this is going to be a battle like no other.

It’s going to be so incredible hard to review without giving away to much, but even though I’ll keep this spoiler free, I will give plenty of quotes to show you just how perfect This Man was, and even though were nearly impossible to narrow down, every single thought of word from him was pure romance gold! Even his own description of himself was spot on!

I’m your husband. You call me the Lord. I’m a crazy, challenging, unreasonable pain in your arse; I’m possessive, I trample all over the place—your words, not mine—but by some fucking miracle, you love me nonetheless.

So here we are, thirteen years after the events that took place on the last book of this MUST READ trilogy, This Man Confessed, and Jesse and Ava were blissfully living their happy ever after, with their twins, Maddy and Jacob. But in an expected and horrifying turn of events, Ava suffers a life threatening accident, that almost destroyed their world. Jodi Ellen Malpas described Jesse’s despair to such a splendid degree that she had me crying my heart out, and praying for Ava’s life right along with Jesse’s begging for it. Ava truly is his everything.

My defiant little temptress. My angel. My Ava.

She has her usual effect on me. This woman makes my veins burn. Makes my eyes sting just looking at her. Makes my heart surge with adoration.

She is, quite simply, the most enthralling person I’ve ever encountered. And she’s mine. Beautiful and elegant, with a sprinkling of sass.

And what happens when your everything can’t remember you and the beautiful life you built together?! That’s exactly how Jesse felt just when he thought the battle for Ava’s life was won. A whole new, and even more personally challenging battle had arise, and now Jesse finds himself with the mission of helping Ava recover those precious memories, and in the meanwhile, making her, his soulmate, fall in love with him all over again. Sounds easy enough, no?! Oh, poor Jesse… <3

“You feel that?” I whisper, starting to fiddle with her ring myself. Her slight nod forces me to swallow down my relief before it chokes me. “That’s just the very beginning, Ava. That’s just the spark that set our worlds alight.” Determination is now running rampant through my veins, that small reaction driving it. “This head of yours.” I gently stroke down her cheek, relishing her slight nuzzle into my palm. “It’s been consumed by me for thirteen years, lady. I’m not about to let you forget our story. I will make you remember. It’s my mission objective. I’ll do anything.”

How much I hurt for Jesse, specially with every step back, every road block, every failed hope and chance. Ms. Malpas really did a brilliant describing all his raw emotion, his male perspective so realistic and heart touching, I fell even more desperately in love with this man. Ava couldn’t resist him the first time, now with the clarity of his feelings, and unmeasurable love and devotion to her, she didn’t stand a chance. He was just as imprinted in her, and she was in him.

“You and those kids are his world, but you know that already. Ain’t no man on this planet like Jesse Ward.”

And I scold myself because though my memories are a little lost, my instinct isn’t. To Jesse Ward, I am life.

“You are the most passionate man I’ve ever met, and you keep it all for me and the children. I can see that. Everything you do, you do it with such intensity. Whether you’re mad. Or if you’re playing. Or making love to me. Or simply loving me. It’s all so passionate, and I love it. I love that the children and I are the center of your world. That you love us with a power that’s sometimes a little overwhelming. What woman wouldn’t want to be loved with that much intensity?”

Of course Ava doesn’t take it lightly – she wouldn’t be the woman Jesse loved, if she did, lol -, and where was the ‘fun’ in that. Her body and heart recognize him as her other half, now her mind just needs to catch up and remember. Let Jesse help her remember all they were and still are. Deep down, she knows she’s living a once in a lifetime kind of love. How could she not, with how much Jesse fights for her, and even with her, to show her, make a feel. ALL THE FEELS that Jodi Ellen Malpas make us experience in this unforgettable journey, and get to know and love Jesse and his cell deep devotion to his wife and his babies. It’s impossible to describe, really. You need to embark in this EPIC, emotional and oh so HOT story, and laugh, cry, smile, sob and cheer right along with them. Reading it it’s the only true way to know, and fall in love WITH THIS MAN. <3

“We must love each other an awful lot.”
“It’s pure bliss, baby,” I begin quietly. “Total gratification.” I lower my lips cautiously and peck her wet cheek lightly. “Absolute, complete, earth-shifting—”
“Universe-shaking love.”

It was one of my most Anticipated books of the year, and it still blindsided and forever branded me with the raw emotion that was Jesse’s POV. THIS MAN truly is a GOD! No words will ever be enough to express all that entails The Lord… I’m totally on Central Jesse Cloud Nine right now, and it’s guaranteed to be a book hungover like no other! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Signed,
Forever ‘Jesse’s Girl’

I smile the smile only he can draw from me. It’s one filled with love of the perfect kind. Because he’s mine. I’ll always be with this man.

This moment, this precious moment, is what any man should live for.
And I do. I live for them. My heart beats to keep me alive for them.

First off I gotta say I am so glad I reread the series before reading this book! It made it much more enjoyable for the fourth book with my mind refreshed

I actually was surprised at how many memories I had forgotten! I’m going to sleep and will come back to do a review!!

“That smell ... It’s my favorite smell.”

For us Jesse fans, there was no better news than hearing there was going to be another Jesse book. To be honest with you, it could be all about Jesse eating his peanut butter and I would lap that puppy up!

Seriously though, what a great concept for another book. The only thing better would have been Jesse losing his memories...OMG, could you imagine all the angst? Be still my heart since that ain't happenin'!

So, as the blurb states, Ava's in an accident and it's pretty heart breaking to read about Jesse seeing her. I was a bit shocked at seeing so much of Jesse's vulnerable side...I wasn't prepared! But don't worry...there plenty of Jesse's intense side to get you through.

And she's lost a lot of years and memories that they hope she will get back. In the meantime, Jesse has to get her to be okay with his domineering, intense ways again...and to win her love...again.

description

I loved that we got that "new" Ava again..the one we came to know and love. She doesn't let Jesse get away with things (for the most part) and I loved how she listened to her heart as far as he was concerned.

One of my favorite parts was Jesse taking Ava through their memories, from their first meet to some of the sadder situations these two crazy people went through. It was awesome that he didn't hold back...for the most part!

“With no you, there is no me.”

The hardest parts for me was her dealing with their kids, Jacob and Maddie. They are eleven and very much their own persons and very much on the cusp of being teenagers and all that entails. It was pretty amazing how supportive they were of their Mom...and Dad. (Poor Jesse)

You would think that just dealing with Ava's amnesia and by the way, Jesse turning fifty (and yes, he has a hard time with it...lol), would be enough drama but oh no. Jodi Ellen Malpas hits us with some more...HARD...I definitely wasn't prepared for that! Don't get me wrong, you can figure out some of the things that are coming but just get ready for all the feels. :(

And it's a given, but I'll just add...there's plenty of sexy times, ya know, making friends, sleepy sex, redemption f*cks, sense f*cks, well, they're all there, of course!

The epilogue was sooo amazing, I loved every minute of that. "Gosh"! It was sooo good.

*BR w/Melissa...we had a great time catching up w/Jesse & Ava!*

I finally put on my big girl panties and read this one. I have been wanting to read it since it came out but I got scared....

After all... Jesse and Ava are one of my favorite mf couples and I didn't want their HEA to be fucked with...

I should have had more faith though. That doesn't mean that the author doesn't put them through the wringer...but I should have had more faith in Jesse. He wouldn't ever let anything fuck up his HEA with Ava !!

I laughed, I cried and I definitely swooned !!! I didn't know it was possible to fall even more in love with Jesse, but I did !!! And I am pretty sure Ava did as well ;)

I highly recommend this series....it's one of my favs ;)

Jesse & Ava Ward live a fabulous life in London. They own a health club, and have eleven year old twins they adore. After twelve years of marriage they still can’t get enough of each other. Jesse is still a demanding, intense, controlling man who loves his lady with his entire heart and soul. He can’t exist without her, and she’s his everything. When an accident leaves Ava without the memories of the last sixteen years, Jesse’s world is shattered. She doesn’t know who he is, but he’s determined to help her remember their story and make her fall in love with him all over again.

Ava feels overwhelmed & lost, but Jesse is her rock. He’s the only thing that calms her. This strong, complicated, unreasonable man is suddenly vulnerable, gentle and patient. He’s incomplete without Ava, and is relentless in his quest to show her their bond is unbreakable, and make her feel their connection.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This book exceeded ALL my expectations! It was beautiful, funny, emotional, devastating, passionate, and full of so much love. This man’s devotion to his wife is unwavering. His family is everything to him, and he refuses to give up. He completely cherishes Ava, but is still his complex, possessive, trampling self. I loved he’s still Jesse, and still such an original, lol. ;)) He still “makes friends”, does his countdowns, and is “the lord” that is sinfully sexy, and delicious!

-He looks at me like I’m his savior and his downfall.

-I look at him and feel electric inside. He touches me, and my veins charge with heat. In his arms I feel at home. Like nothing can hurt me.

-My body responds to him instinctively. My need for him is unrelenting.

-Whenever you hold me, it feels perfectly right. Whenever I look at you, I know you are mine.

It's been 13 years since Jesse 'stalked' his way into Ava's life and heart. And he's just as crazy mad as he's always been! ☺

The Wards live a very happy life. Instead of a sex club they now run an elite gym!
Their twins Maddie and Jacob are twelve already!
Everything is perfect. Even though Jesse is a bit sad at the moment, because he's turning 50!!!

Then ... Ava has a serious car accident. She wakes up from her coma after a few days, but she's forgotten the last 16 years of her life. Jesse, the kids, everything.

She thinks she's a 22 year old single girl.

Poor Jesse. He's so sad and heartbroken. But he's not giving up. He needs to make Ava remember him and the kids.

Challenge accepted. He'll make her fall in love with him again - he did it once - he'll be able to do it again!

And now Jesse is back!

And I just loved this book. Even more than the first ones I think. It somehow has a completely different feel to it. As if it was written by someone else. Or there was an amazing editor involved ;)

The beginning of the book is so very Jesse. Fun and crazy mad and peanut butter and adorable and sexy.

And then the accident happens and it just breaks our hearts!
Poor Jesse.

But he's not giving up. He'll fight until his last breath to make sure that Ava remembers their life.

My dear sweet Lord, I’m on central Jesse Cloud Nine!
With This Man is bloody BRILLIANT! My favorite book of the year!!! 🖤🖤

Jodi / With This Man

Seriously EFFING PERFECT!

In book 3, I finally came to truly understand Jesse and Ava's unbelievable chemistry and OTT antics. It was my absolute favorite. I loved it immensely and wasn't sure how JEM would top the pregnancy and subsequent delivery of the twins. If you've followed my reviews for any length of time, you know I love me some babies! But I needn't have worried, With This Man is on a whole other level of brilliance.

Shockingly, the author is able to pay homage to the love story we've all come to love while simultaneously allowing us to relive it and fall in love with this couple in a completely different light. It's sheer and unadulterated BRILLIANCE! I CANNOT STRESS enough how much I love this book! It's every single little thing I wanted and more.

Jesse finds himself in a situation he feared, but never really expected. The love of his life doesn't know him. His heart broke. My heart broke. Man oh man, I think I cried throughout. It was just so beautiful! The drama is bigger than ever and so is the LOVE!

Stop reading this rambling review and go READ THE BOOK!
It's a TOP FAVORITE and I give it my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!

JEM recently posted on instagram that someone stole the first book of this series, word for word and published it as her own work in Argentina. I can’t imagine how heartbreaking this would be for an author.

*****
*4.5*

I enjoyed this just as much on a reread.

Jesse is still such a caveman even after four books, but I don't mind it so much anymore. He's either worn me down like he's done with Ava, or I'm beginning to love the way he loves her. This story allows the readers to see the start of their love all over again, and Ave states the way he loves so perfectly here.
"You are the most passionate man I've ever met, and you keep it all for me and the children. I can see that. Everything you do, you so it with such intensity. Whether you're mad. Or if you're playing. Or making love to me. Or simply loving me. It's all so passionate, and I love it. I love that the children and I are the center of your world. That you love us with a power that's sometimes a little overwhelming."
The love was palpable in this story. It made me smile and want to start the series over again, and I really didn't enjoy the first book!

As for all the drama near the end, whyyyy are Jesse's exes all such psycho crazies? I was so disappointed in the death of a side character that was such an integral part of this series.

I Love Jesse Ward.......End Of!!!
For lovers of the This Man series, being back with Jesse and Ava is wonderful. The circumstances are a bit daunting. Ava losing 16 years in her mind. Can Jesse bring the memories back, can he make her love him again, will she remember the children?? Their love is unconventional and off the charts crazy at times but it’s them and if she can’t remember then can he make her love him all over again? Ava is his world and without her, there is no world for Jesse Ward.

She reigns supreme. She is my world. My life. My day, my night, my air, water, and fire. Fuck, what would I ever do without her? I’d die of a broken heart, I just know it. Turn to dust. Fade to nothing.

I LOVED every minute of being in #CentralJesseCloudNine. This story takes Jesse on an emotional rollercoaster. He’s still the demanding, passionate, devoted, obsessed, fanatical, sexy, crazy man who loves his wife Ava with all his soul. It’s his fierce love for Ava that keeps him going. And while Ava can’t remember, she feels and knows in her soul that Jesse is her life as well as the kids. Their journey from forgetting to remembering is filled with the telling of past memories, being with their friends, being with their twins and a lot of “making friends”. And the twist that comes to the Ward family - Perfect!!!!

If you love Jesse and Ava, this story is a must read. This series is one of my all time favorites and to get a Book #4 from the author was fanfreakingstatic!!!!!

With This Man is book 4 in the This Man series, and is a must read if you have read the previous books. Jesse and Ava are better than ever and we get to see a softer side to the “Lord of the Manor”.

It has been 12 years since Jesse and Ava were married, and life has sure changed for Jesse. He is a father of twins and his love for Ava is as strong as ever. When Ava wakes up after an accident, she thinks she is 28 and has no recollection of Jesse or their children. Jesse is devastated that Ava can’t remember their special bond and all their memories, or the children. He is determined to help her remember, because without Ava, he is nothing.

“I’m with you all the way, baby. Highs and lows, good and bad. I’m here by your side. To help you, to wipe your tears, to love you~Jesse

Ava is just as devastated, but it doesn’t take too long for her to figure out how she feels about Jesse and their magnetic pull. She does struggle with his over protectiveness, but she realizes it is just how he is.

”We make new memories if we can’t find the old ones.~Ava

There are also few surprises in the book, both good and bad, that I certainly did not expect. After if finished the sweet epilogue. I really want to go back and read this series all over again!

The Lord is Back !!!. There's a reason he's still the number 1 alpha Hero of all time ! He's passionate, he's drool worthy, he tramples resistance, but his heart is a bottomless pool full of immense love for Ava. Only her. No other woman dead or alive will turn his head or his heart. And his little peanuts- Maddie and Jacob.
"I've still got it. I suddenly feel like the God she thinks I am . The God I know I am "
No truer words have been spoken or written ! Of course he's arrogant and full of cockiness, because HE'S A GOD !! And even at 50, he's all muscle and raw sexuality, I still drool at the sight of his naked torso ( did I say that out loud !?)

I meant Ava....Ava!!. Anywho, he's like in the prime of his life. Beautiful, gorgeous wife, two adorable kids -Maddie & Jacob, and his best pals around him.life couldn't get any better , could it ?
My wife. My children. Their love.
It’s pure bliss, ladies. Total gratification.
Absolute, complete, Earth-shifting, universe-shaking love.
Don’t tell me there’s anything more perfect than this. I wouldn’t believe you.

And then life flips over and crashes badly. All is broken and all is forgotten........
I cried so badly for him. He climbed the Everest to get Ava to fall in love with him the first time, does he have time to do it again? . What's the guarantee that his ferocious love will be enough again to dissipate the fog around them!! But he's not persistent, if nothing else. My Lord Of The Manor!
Woe is me!
“It’s been consumed by me for thirteen years, lady. I’m not about to let you forget our story. I will make you remember. It’s my mission objective. I’ll do anything.”
The book is full of helpless love and overwhelming despair, yet there's also insurmountable, fierce determination to reverse the tides of fate, Cause wth Lord Of The manor doesn't give up so easily!!. Even if he has to fight the Almighty God himself!!! And the fight is hard, and exhausting , and debilitating, and excruciating. It's like learning to walk again, feel again, learn again, operating washer again. Jesse is at breaking point multiple times but he has a goal to work towards -getting his life back. His life with his Love and family.

As Big John says " Get a fucking grip, you stupid Motherfucker "!
The usual Lord's humour is intact...Thank God
I can be reasonable. I don’t know why everyone constantly barks on about my unwillingness to flex. I flex every day of my damn life.
And
Red flag. Bull on the loose. That's all I'm saying
I jumped when i heard that Lord is getting his book again. And I couldn't wait to meet him and ogle him. Jodi has been very generous with Jesse in this book. There's a whole lot of him to love, admire and support. Mostly in his POV,The book is enjoyable journey of Jesse who learns to breathe deep, give a little space and hang in there. Being a rock solid for his family to hang on to while the rough storm rocks their Family Boat.
The end slayed me. At one point I was like , thank god for divine intervention and the other I was oh god why didn't you interfere sooner..
I'm officially in Paradise with the Wards, floating gently on #CentralJesseCloudNine
Life is better already 🤗

With This Man

I was going to keep this review short and simple......something along the lines of 'Best JEM book ever....10 stars' but then decided I had waaaaaaaaaay more to say! But how can my words ever possibly do this book justice?

First things first. Most importantly, this book is NOT a re-telling; it's a complete continuation. It's also a standalone....this story has a conclusion. Set 13 years after the end of This Man Confessed (or 7 years after the epilogue) Jesse is nearing 50 years old and is not happy about it at all. The snippets of inner monologue and dialogue when he is musing about his age were continuous moments that made me smile and were an amusing constant throughout the book.

We see and catch up with all the old gang...Sam & Kate, Drew & Raya, John, Sarah 😡 and it all feels so familiar, so comfortable, so effortless.

Jesse was....endearing, charming, infuriating, funny, sexy, obsessive, lovable, loyal, crazy, sensitive, bossy, passionate, gentle

Mainly told by Jesse POV. I loved the intrigue of the original trilogy wondering what Jesse was thinking and feeling.....being in his head for With This Man was amazing and everything I had hoped for. There are some small snippets from Ava, at critical times so we know what she is feeling but this is mainly a Jesse pie!

As you can imagine from the synopsis...this book has ALL the feels. Heartbreak, hope, frustration, devastation, angst, anticipation, love, passion, mystery, laughs....it really has everything.

Ava wakes up after a car accident having lost the last 16 years of her memory. She thinks she is still a 23 year old woman, having not met Jesse or had the twins. Oh my days. Can Jesse make Ava fall in love with him all over again? Can Jesse help her remember their epic (and sometimes painful) love affair? Are some things best left in the past? Little omissions or slight tweaks to stories won't hurt will they!? Regardless of whether Ava's memory returns can she love Jesse again (even though he's 50!)?

I think when you've read and loved all of an authors work it's fair to say you enjoy their writing style. Reading this book, I didn't feel like I was reading words on a page....I felt I was there; I felt I was those characters. JEM's writing is fluent, effortless to read, intelligent and strong. She has really mastered her craft. Every word was a joy to read. This book made me feel so nostalgic, it brought me back full circle to where we began; with Jesse Ward, my first JEM book. I’m feeling quite emotional writing this review knowing that this is where it ends. And what a perfect way to end. If you have read and enjoyed This Man then I know with absolute certainty that you will love With This Man. This book, these characters feel like I’m home. I’m going to miss them but feel soothed knowing that they will forever be inside my kindle and more importantly inside my heart.

Most of my JEM reviews might say something like, 'Loved it, best JEM book since This Man'. Well this is simply the best JEM book ever.

4 “nostalgic” stars

First I have to say that I fell head over heels in love with obsessive and possessive Jesse Ward years ago.

Is he egomaniac? Yes!

Is he possessive? Yes but only with Ava and the twins!

Is he unreasonable? When it comes to his loved ones yes!

Would I run away from him in real life? Yes because I would not have Ava’s patience and allow him to control me like that. Only Ava was made for Jesse truly.

Did I love the book? Yes but honestly less than what I expected due to the hype.

Jodi is true to this series and has done Jesse justice. But I think I outgrew the series. Would have I read the book years ago it would probably have been six stars.

So what’s all the fuss about?

Jesse is hitting fifty and is plagued by insecurity. Yes you’ve heard correctly The Lord of the Manor has doubts about his sex appeal!

I loved this part of the story as it feels real and true.

Don’t worry Jesse is still his sexy self even at fifty but he abhors his age now. Luckily he won’t do like many men of this age: he’ll still breathe and live for Ava! He loves and craves her like day one.

That’s why Ava losing her memory after a car accident is dramatic.

If she loved him so much how could she forget him? How could she have no memories of the twins?

What would happen if she never gets her memory back?
‘I once told you that I wanted to look after you for ever.’ I hold her eyes, never wavering. ‘I meant it, baby. For ever isn’t over yet. Never will be, not for us. I love you. You are the best part of me, Ava. The greatest part. That can’t be forgotten.’

It was heart wrenching.

Jesse was lost. Ava was lost. The twins were lost. Everyone was hurting.

Now Kate kicked Jesse in the behind and told him he was not a quitter. That Ava married him because he was determined and never stopped trying.

Jesse is now on a mission: make Ava fall in love with him again and regain her memory.

It was emotional, hot, sweet and angsty.

I loved reading about these two but I was always wondering: is it really possible to love someone like that, with that obsession and intensity after all these years?

To make love with passion and abandon several times a day every day?

Color me sceptic but I don’t think so.

Now the beauty of fiction is that..it is fictional!

Recommend it?

If you are a fan this is undoubtedly a must read!
Have you read it? Are you one of Jesse's fans?
Thanks for reading!
Sophie

Our Lord Jesse Ward is at it again, 12 years later he still the controlling, possessive, neurotic, dominate, sex god. His family life is perfect with Ava & the twins Mattie & Jacob. He has even bought a health club that he, Ava & John are managing. But everything came to a screeching halt when Jesse gets a call from the twins school when Ava has not made it to pick up the twins. As Jesse races off to find his wife Ava he comes upon an accident and see the mini that Ava drives. The same mini that he believed was unsafe and he wanted her to drive the Range Rover but of course he want mention that now. After days of being in a coma, finally Ava wakes up and to Jesse horror Ava doesn't know who Jesse is. Ava has lost the last 16 years of her life, which means no memory of him her Lord and their beautiful twins.

Just imagine waking up from a coma thinking you are 22 years old to find out you have been married for 12 years and have children. How devastating would that be, well that is the new life of Ava Ward. Trying to move on without your memories and not knowing who your children or husband is. Well by now we all know Jesse Ward sex lord possessive behavior doesn't know what to do or how to handle his wife now that she can't remember who they are and how THEIR crazy/normal works for them. Now he must make her fall in love with him all over again. Will the second time make her run like hell at who Jesse Ward is...So he does the best thing he hope is the right thing for Ava. Leave out the most important parts of what made Jesse & Ava love each other and made them unbreakable. Which is the biggest mistake Jesse Ward could make.

I liked This Man but this book is one for the diehard Jesse Ward fanatics. It begins when they have been married 12 years and their twins are 11. They own a business and Ava works there but they still find time to have sex at work, then later at home then again..and again...and again. How realistic! Within the first 5%, we have had quite a few 3, 2, 1..zero babies. Lots of 'watch your mouth' blah, blah, blah. They have all the same sayings and ways from years ago. Is that realistic? Not to me.

Ava has her accident and has bleeding on the brain and a severed artery in her leg and is unconscious for 2 days. She wakes and can't remember anything of the last 16 years and thinks she's 22. A few...literally a few days later, she is out of hospital. Again, unrealsitic for such injuries. One minute she's walking fine, then maybe limping a bit, next minute falling to her knees in dispair. No sure she would manage that having had a severed artery! I hate books that have far fetched scenarios as they start to irritate me with how unrealistic they are.

So the story is Jesse trying to get Ava to remember their life together. He sends the kids off on holiday with Ava's parents and then he shows Ava photos and places from their past. He even starts up again with the lying about his age thing. Now I found that quite amusing in This Man but this time around I was rolling my eyes. A lot of their past scenarios happen again. Her defying him, him getting annoyed about it blah blah. I suppose he is a bit tamer this time around.

The sex scenes are quite tame. A lot of their type of 'fucks' were mentioned but they don't re-enact many of them.

At times I felt JEM couldn't get the male voice right. A lot of times, Jesse's voice felt too feminine. We get occasional parts from Ava's POV but essentially, this is Jesse's book but it didn't work for me. By halfway through, I started to get bored. Of course two women from Jesse's past appear again and one has consequences for another character.

At the beginning before Ava's accident, Jesse reminds her to take her contraceptive pill. I knew from that moment she would get pregnant again! There are a few funny scenes in the book. When they go for the baby scan, Jesse being over protective of his daughter but I still found myself bored.

This is quite a long book but it would have worked better as a novella. In this book Jesse is 50 and Ava 38 but they read too immature to me. All the same scenarios didn't help. As I say, I'm sure the diehard fans will love it though!

“I meant it, baby. Forever isn’t over yet. Never will be, not for us. I love you. You are the best part of me, Ava. The greatest part. That can’t be forgotten.”

We’re not going to lie, we were very hesitant when we heard Jesse and Ava were getting another book; one in which Ava would suffer a memory loss that meant losing their tumultuous, passionate, intense and obsessive history. Losing their magnificent love story. We’ll admit we went back and forth on whether to read it or not but of course as soon as it landed on our kindles we dropped everything and got stuck in. This is Jesse after all, no one waits for Jesse, right? Three…two…one….zero, baby.

‘Every move this man makes, everything he says, all his facial expressions and reactions, they all touch me somewhere deep, and my gut tells me it’s all okay. Everything is fine. Instinct tells me how to love him. My mind tells me how to handle him. I’m slowly putting it all together, figuring him out. He is the biggest part of who I am.’

We were sucked back into their world immediately, feeling as if we never left. There is no question, this is Jodi Ellen Malpas at her best. This series is her best, this couple is her best. This series is synonymous with this Author. It was perfection. Truly wonderful. With This Man is a story we didn’t know we needed nor craved. We can finally say we have read the ultimate ending to one of our favourite series and it made us laugh, cry and swoon with our hearts in a puddle on the floor. From the first page to the last we were riveted, feeling as if we were back with old friends. All our hesitancy and uncertainty vanished within the first sentences. This is without question one of the best revisits we’ve ever read to a series we hold so close to our hearts.

“Jesse?” she murmurs sleepily in my ear, and I hum my prompt for her to go on. “I think I’m falling in love with you.”

‘Remember, I demand silently, boring holes into the back of her head, willing the memories to rise to the surface. Remember me. Remember us.’

When Authors decide to write another book in a much loved series that takes the direction of a much treaded path you get wary, however, this storyline was written and handled in such a way that it felt fresh and exciting. There was no repetition nor rehashing of storyline, rather- it felt completely new and exciting. A new chapter if you will. With This Man was brilliantly written and it was so easy to slip back into the lives of Jesse and Ava. Jodi Ellen Malpas is without question completely at ease with her characters, this story coming naturally thus it was a joy to read. It felt effortless.

“You accepted me because you were as hopelessly in love with me as I was with you. You couldn’t be without me, either. You let me take the lead and you followed willingly. You let me lavish you with the attention and suffocation, because you knew it’s what I needed. You learned how to deal with me, Ava, and you are the only person in this world who can.”

We’re not going to go into specifics as every reader who loves this series as much as we do should experience it like we did. We have to say; experiencing this story from mainly Jesse’s pov broke our hearts, whilst the man is still infuriatingly cocky and controlling, he loves Ava and their kids with a passion that seconds nothing and no one. He has a mammoth fight on his hands as a consequence of Ava’s memory loss; however this is ‘The Lord’ we’re talking about here, he can trample anything and anyone; especially something that negatively impacts his marriage to the love of his life; the wonderful and sassy, Ava. Their banter was hilarious, their passion intense and their love for one another immense. Nothing will stand in their way and we were reminded of everything that makes their love so incredibly special.

“I can see why I fell in love with you,” she whispers, grazing her palms over my stubble.

“Because I’m an Adonis in bed?”

“And out of bed….You’re the perfect mix of man. Big, strong, passionate, devoted. You love with everything you have.”

“And I’m nothing without you.”

“And everything with me.”

We really don’t have enough words nor accolades for With This Man, it had everything and more with added ghosts from the past as well as a surprising suspense. But mostly, it was about a love that proves it can conquer anything and everything placed in its way.

‘I’m human. I’m a dad. A husband. My family is both my biggest weakness and my greatest strength. I live and breathe for them, and that will never change. Until the day I die, it will always be about them.’

I have to confess I never quite took to Ava for some reason her personality always annoyed me. In this one she was a little better I especially liked her in her mum role. Jesse was great though and his kids especially Jacob were adorable and I just wanted to squeeze his cheeks! Enjoyed this.

When I first heard Jodi Ellen Malpas was releasing a fourth book in the This Man series, I was a bit nervous. I was nervous that it wouldn't feel like a cohesive part of the journey between Jesse and Ava Ward, nervous that time might have changed my affection for this couple, nervous that With This Man might feel like an unnecessary addition to a perfectly complete series. Boy, was I wrong. Yes, there should definitely be nerves as you enter this book, but not the kind I anticipated. I should've been nervous about all I'd be made to feel on these pages. I should've been nervous for what Jesse and Ava would face. I should've been nervous about the heartache and the joy that would overcome me. But I never for a second should've worried about what a fantastic story Jodi Ellen Malpas had in store.

This was one of those books that called to me every time I was forced to set it down. It crept into my dreams and it demanded I pick it right back up when I woke. I was CONSUMED by the heartbreaking turn of events that evolves in With This Man. I was overwhelmed by how much I loved it, by how hard I'd fall for Jesse Ward all over again. I was so IN THIS STORY, engulfed by the intensity of Jesse, by the frustratingly difficult but exquisitely romantic circumstances in these pages. It was everything. Every. Thing.

JEM takes us into the current state of the blissfully romantic marriage of Jesse and Ava, showing us exactly where this unforgettable couple is twelve years after we last saw them. She reminds her reader precisely why Jesse and Ava intoxicated us with their gritty love story and why they remain a top favorite couple, but then she turns their world upside down and with it, she upturns the world of her readers, delivering a heartbreaking, wholly unforgettable story that I never wanted to end.

Jesse Ward is still the same controlling, protective, trampling sex God he was at 38. But now, at 50, he's a doting father of preteens and a devoted husband whose world still revolves around his wife. The lace, the countdowns, the bathtub talks and the retribution sex pepper this story, taking the reader right back to where it all began, reminding us of why we love this couple so damn much. But with the tragedy that occurs at the beginning of this book, a horrifying accident that steals Ava's memories and forces Jesse to start from scratch in winning her affections, a new, refreshing, unpredictable story is born. The forceful, mouthy Jesse has to change tactics. He has to bite back his demands and romance his wife in ways that aren't always natural for him. And it's beautiful to watch, gut wrenching to experience, and deliciously satisfying in the end. But true to form, secrets are kept, truths are withheld, complications arise and a messy story ensues.

This book tore at my heart strings but it also gave me deliciously giddy feelings as I got to sit back and watch Jesse and Ava fall all over again, revisiting the past in a way that makes me want to go back to the beginning and reread the entire series again and again. This book was so much better than anything I ever expected, so emotionally gripping, so completely addictive. I love Jesse and Ava even more than I thought possible after reading With This Man. This is the PERFECT addition to this series. Everything that drew me to the first three books-- the sensuality, the treachery, the villains, the jealousy, the addiction, the dialogue, the romance, the friendships, the peanut butter, the obsession-- it all comes full circle in this fourth installment and IT IS PERFECTION. I laughed. I hurt. I was infuriated. I was overwhelmed. This book is EVERYTHING I could've dreamed of getting from THIS MAN but never imagined I would. I absolutely LOVED IT.

I guess everyone just conveniently shoves to the side the small matter that Jesse cheated on Ava early in their relationship with not 1 but 4 women! And then hid his cheating from her. And oh yeah, she completely let him off the hook. Completely.

That's when I completely STOPPED buying into his over the top obsession with her! And the whole bullshit love story. Seriously, he was so obsessed with her that he went and fucked 4 other women in 2 days.....give me a break. That's not a love story. And if he was SO drunk he wouldn't have gotten it up.

I want someone to explain to why he FUCKED 4 OTHER WOMEN!!! Then tell me he's a great hero. This was not 1 slip up but 4 slip ups.

Idiot.
