If you're thinking of getting married and haven't known your sweetheart very long, read this book. It is impossible to guess what is in the mind of seemingly normal, everyday people until you've had long experience with them. Many of the stories here highlight this fact. Each of the eighteen tales make for alarming reading. As with his other sixty-plus books, these stories are well written and very intense.
The Author "Robert Keller" writes these shocking , True Crime Stories with an alluring attention to the circumstances and facts of each case. This is the first book I've read from this talented Author and I've already downloaded Volume 2. Mr. Keller's True Crime books offer a Refreshing Edge with the distinctive advantage of perfection, over any other I've personally read.
Gruesome stories about women who kill , mostly for money. Even though most serial killers are male , this book mentions several that are just as insane & psychotic . I like Mr. Keller's descriptions of each , entailing the crime, history , victims , & outcome of each , also describing why they may have committed the crime they did. I have enjoyed each book he has written & look forward to the next volume of deadly women !
The cases here are not all contemporary; they spanned from the late 1800s to the late 1990s, but consisted of a lot of women I had never heard of. The lack of consistency came in the storytelling: some of the stories were only a few pages and were a really dry read as if it was all being regurgitated from well-worn news articles, while some were very in-depth. Also, some of them only killed 1 or 2 people, so they're not all serial killers like the title seemed to imply (to me). Not riveting if you're a serious true crime fan - as evidenced by the fact that it took me a week to finish - but it was an interesting enough read that I could see reading at least the next book in the series. Could use some editing.
Gruesome stories about women who kill, mostly for money but many are just mentally disturbed. Even though most serial killers are male, this book mentions several that are just as insane & psychotic. I love the quick set of facts and to the point conclusions. I read the whole story of Belle and lived in Indy where the killer on the cover committed her acts of violence on a sweet innocent girl. This book gives you enough to feel fulfilled but you can always seek more.
I am working on reading all of Keller's TC anthologies so I found there to be several duplicates in this book that can be found in some of his other books. That's ok though because his books are so good. I'm going to keep on working my way through them all. I believe there around forty.
I got drawn into this book. I never knew that some women could be so cruel and yet be so loving. Overall it's a very good read. I was drawn into this book.
Robert Keller’s books are part of my bed-time ritual now. I’m only allowed three stories before I turn off my light and go to bed though, a rule I have had to impose because otherwise I’d read all night!
Some.of these cases I k we of, but many I did not. This book definitely gets five *****'s. I really like how the author can jump between decades and even centuries, in some cases, to give huge variety of murderous women!!!!
The stories in this book are indeed shocking. However, more shocking than the murders is that so many of these women murdered their children. There is something wrong with the wiring in the brain of a woman who can cold-bloodedly murder her own child.
Many of these female murderers used poison. After all, there's no blood to clean up, no body to dispose of, no muss, no fuss. Just drop by the insurance office and pick up your money. A poisoner can kill quite a few people before anyone takes notice as busy doctors so often attribute the death to natural causes.
