Jaymee Jacobs is a USA Today best-selling author, and author of the Dallas Comets series. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a BA in English literature and a psychology minor.

Her books have the same two themes: hockey and the "millennial" experience. The first is because she's a die-hard fan (particularly of the Pittsburgh Penguins). The second is because she felt that there weren't any books to which she could personally relate. So she began to write the stories she wanted to read. Her books spotlight those in the up-and-coming generation as they navigate this new era of ubiquitous technology, online dating etiquette, and what it means to "adult."

When she's not writing, you'll find Jaymee curating her cats' Instagram account, listening to true crime podcasts, scrolling through Pinterest for fructose-free recipes, or yelling at the TV during Penguins games.

False Start by Jaymee Jacobs is a sweet, youthful romance with a realistic down to earth feel. This fourth installment of the Dallas Comets can be read as a standalone and out of order if needed/wanted to. Jaymee has created another amazing story with interesting realistic characters whom we fall for and hope for them to find their happily ever after right now because the situation feels real and could be true to life.

Christopher character feels pulled from real life. Any rookie would feel the stress of his first year and living in a new city with only team mates to keep him company but poor Christopher's situation will pull on your heartstrings for sure. Helene can't see why Christopher is interested in her, after all she believes she's damaged goods but he sees something else. Following their journey was a pleasure and I hope we see more of this young couple in the future. 5 Stars for False Start from Jaymee Jacobs

False Start is the fourth book in the Dallas Comets hockey romance series by Jaymee Jacobs. They can be read as standalone novels, but I personally loved reading them in order. False Start features Christopher Lacey, the young rookie who has dedicated his life to hockey and Helene Michaels, the physical therapist intern. When the two meet at the Halloween party, Chris can't stop thinking about her, but Helene is skeptical that Chris harbors true feelings for her now that she's not in costume.

Jaymee did a great job of highlighting the experience of a young rookie who has been trained to live, breathe, eat, and think hockey everyday of his young life. Living with the veteran captain, Chris is learning how to navigate girls and relationships while trying to hold on to his spot in the NHL. Jaymee's novel was thoughtful and I felt that she brought a great, fresh perspective on the hotshot rookie character. False Start is a sweet love story and I highly recommend this book!

As the next in the series, I enjoyed this story along with the others. Given that the main character is a young draft pick looking to make his way and stay with the team, there were some logistical things to consider for the story (too young to go clubbing, rooming with a veteran and the captain no less, etc.) that you normally find in most hockey themed books and she handled it all seamlessly. In all I'd say it was a sweet, tender story showing the growth of its two characters while blending the demanding life of a pro athlete with a significant other that has her own story to tell.

Rushed. It has great characters and I would have loved to read more about them and to get more out of them together and their story, it felt too rushed and quick, and it felt a little dull. Pity, because I truly loved the plot and storyline and the characters, but it felt too rushed.
