Farm Boy

Rate this book
J.L. Beck and Kylie Carter give you their first co-written book. Fans of small town romances will love this book.

With a swoon worthy cowboy, and a forbidden farmer's daughter you’ll be laughing, crying, and begging for more.

At the farm the days were hot, but the nights were hotter.

All I needed was a job, some warm food in my belly, and a place to lay my head at night. I never expected the sweet Millie Houzner, the farmer's daughter, to be a part of that deal.

With silky brown hair, and emerald green eyes, she struck me dead the moment I laid eyes on her, but even I didn’t have a death wish. Rule #1 is, you never mess with the farmer's daughter. I told myself she was off limits, reminding myself everyday of how I wasn’t the man she needed.

But you know how it is, what you want most and can’t have, you fall the hardest for. I tried my damnedest to fight against it, but I fell. With Millie by my side, I felt invincible until all the secrets I had tried to keep buried were unleashed upon us. Bringing to light a past that refused to go away. A past that was so hell bent on destroying my future.

When it came down to it, protecting Millie would always come first, and if walking away from her was going to protect her from my past, then my choice was easy. I just wish it didn't hurt so damn much.

Welll just putting speechless isn't gonna be enough. This was one book that's way off the charts good. I was laughing, I was crying a lot, screaming a lot and some other emotions came out as well. You I don't want to give out a lot of things. But damn it Josi and Kylie you both are really ripping my heart out. Please be gentle and give it back to me in next book. I would really love to have it back whole.

3 adorable stars

My purpose as a reviewer isn't to nit pick or destroy an author, but to impart my personal opinion about books i've had the opportunity to read. The first time i 'met' J.L. Beck, her stories absolutely called out to me and i wanted to read so much more from her, especially considering her full length novels were something i couldn't get enough. Sadly, which happens to so many authors these days, she decided to push out books (most short stories or novella length) at an incredible rate that even i couldn't keep up. The problem was that i couldn't connect with neither the characters or the story, so i had made the choice to take a break on her releases, revisiting the stories that i connected with.
When i saw that J.L. Beck was coming out with her first collaboration with Kylie Carter AND it was a full length novel in a new series, well, needless to say that i was not only curious, but excited! Who wouldn't be? I'd be able to meet a new author (because i've never read one of Kylie Carter's books before), but i'd be able to see the old J.L. Beck i had fallen in love with. There's no denying the fact that the blurb for Farm Boy was captivating, and i was more than anxious to read Drew and Millie's story.
I went in expecting nothing, no matter what my past opinions of what these authors had published. What i was hoping for was a read that would draw me in like so many stories i've had the chance to read lately. Only, i was left wanting. I couldn't connect to the story until too late, my frustration on what was going on simply too strong.
Maybe in the back of my mind i was still hoping for the best and when the book didn't meet my hopes, it got to me. Or maybe it was simpley that this book wasn't for me. I can't exactly pinpoint when it didn't work for me, but i sadly can't rate this book higher than a 3 star. Who knows, i just might try to read it again in a few months to see if my experience will be different, but one thing is for certain - Farm Boy didn't work for me. Again, just because it didn't work for me, doesn't mean someone else won't enjoy it.

This is a fantastic story by authors J.L. Beck and Kylie Carter. I was drawn in from the very beginning and didn’t want to stop even when the story ended, that’s how great this book was!!
Millie is sassy and beautiful and sweet, willing to do whatever she needed for her family. When she meets Drew, its like WHAM, instant chemistry. Drew finds himself trying to stay away while Millie is thinking maybe she needs to see why the chemistry is so strong.
I loved the humor and the wittiness this story has. Oh and the sexual chemistry is thru the roof yet it is done in such a way that it builds as the main characters interact with one another. See Drew ended up on Millie’s dad doorstep in needed of a job. He was in a way bad when he got the job at Millie's family farm. Drew is a guy who is quiet, intense and handsome. That is what captivates Millie. She is outgoing and sassy which is what draws Drew in. Yet Drew denies there is this attraction. Millie refuses to deny the attraction… Soon things happen that put their feelings, their burgeoning love to the test. Will this break them or make them stronger? Will they end up together and they have an HEA or will this tear them apart? You must read this terrific story!! I quite enjoyed this book and the sexual tension and the humor and wit. It works in such a way without being too complicated. I definitely recommend!!

My Rating: 4.8 stars *****

"We all go through spots in life, its about movin' on from 'em and gettin' through the tough stuff"

That's Drew Weston's motto. And now that Drew is on the run again from shit that he doesn't want to deal with at home. He finds his self at Millie Houzner's farm and her daddy just hired him as the new Farm Boy.

"At the farm the days were hot but the nights were hotter."

Anndd ohhh yes it was!! Drew was warned to stay away from Milie. He was hired to make money, not hook up with the farmer's daughter. lol Well you know that ain't gonna happen..umm nope..sure wont...lol Millie is naïve and finds herself in trouble and this farm hand just can't sit back and watch, he becomes her protector, but still trying to stay away from this purdy girl!!

I gave this book 4 iScream Cones!! This book was full of chase, full of steam and some good ole' drama as well. Ohh and have you seen all the HAWT teasers for this book?? I tell you that alone made me want to one click this book..lol I just love me a good ole' Cowboy Romance!!! Make sure you one click Farm Boy.

Talk about a great job, J.L. Beck and Kylie Carter did such an awesome job with this one. I really enjoyed this collaboration and can't wait for the next.

Drew has been on his own after losing the only family he had left that took care of him. He is still dealing with that lose as if it was yesterday and has finally caught a break in life again. Unfortunately, with that break comes a temptation that is going to test his strength to resist.

I loved Millie!! She isn't the type to lay down and accepting whatever you dish her. She will tell you like it is and push for what she wants. She is feisty, sassy and sweet all at the same time. She doesn't want to have feelings for Drew but some things you can't resist.

I am eagerly awaiting the next book, if fact I NEED it. That ending, I swear these authors are laughing manically knowing that we will be sitting her dying to know what is going to happen next. The anticipation and the wait will be worth it I'm sure. I highly recommend this book even knowing that you will be in the same spot as I am in the end.

Can you say that they are torturing us with that cliffhanger. Josi and Kylie really rip my heart out with this one. I cannot wait for the second book. I don't want to give to much away but damn. Drew is struggling with his own demons and that has him keeping and fighting his feeling for Millie. Drew is your strong macho man, that hides his pain with an attitude. Millie is a young naïve spit fire that has a smart mouth and doesn't take anything from anybody. Millie definitely keeps Drew on his toes. Millie is dealing with the death of her mom. I was screaming at Drew with how much he kept going back and forth with his feeling for Millie. I don't want to give to much away. So much emotions and turmoil that it keeps you guessing. This was a great read. I love this book, devoured this book in one sitting. Please don't keep us waiting long for the second book. Was given an ARC for an honest review.

Enthralling…

Wow this is such an great read…. down on the farm lives Drew , the hired hand, and Millie the farmers daughter; it is easy to see where this is headed ….it is a classic case of forbidden fruit but more than that it is an intriguing tale of loss, deception and buried secrets which are about to become unearthed with repercussions for more than one individual…

The combined efforts of these two authors has created a believable world with fascinating characters…. Drew and Millie seem to be perfectly matched despite the obvious and the not so obvious obstacles to their relationship… their interactions are full of humour and a special kind of chemistry..in fact all the characters have depth and are interesting…

This is a enthralling read with a thrilling climax and a cliffhanger ending which left me eager to read the concluding book to uncover whether or not this couple find their HEA… I received a copy of this book from the author.

I started reading this book yesterday and couldn't put the book down until I was finished last night. I can't wait for the next book to come out. I laughed, cried and smiled through the whole book. You never know what is going to happen. I would guess and was completely wrong. It is a romance that is not crude yet hot and steamy. I could read this book again and not get tired of it. October can't get here soon enough to read book #2. I hope the series continues on. J. L. Beck knows how to peak your interest and keep it there. You don't get bored and you want to find out what is happening on the next page. If you don't read this book you are missing out on a good book that will keep you smiling. I woke up this morning thinking about the characters. That should tell you right there how good the book is.

I received this as an ARC for an honest review! This is a must read!! J.L. Beck and Kylie Carter did not disappoint! Once I started reading this book it was hard to put down, and I only did when I had too. So much emotion and turmoil throughout the entire book. There was extreme emotion and passion between Drew and Millie! I grew up in Georgia so I love the fact that it takes place in Georgia! I love how protective Drew is over Millie from the very beginning and fights himself on getting involved with her. He eventually gives in to his feelings just to have to attempt to shut them down due to his past coming into his present, and you can't help but feel for him. This book does end on a cliffhanger and I am excited and trying to wait patiently for the 2nd book to be released!

This book is an emotional rollercoaster ride. Drew Weston lost everything when his grandparents died. He was soon hired at a local farm. He met Millie the farmers daughter and things get really hot from there.
Will Drew and Millie be able to get passed all the drama? Or will they be able to move passed it? You need to read this book to find out!!

Great story. Drew has an emotional past and just wants to start over. When he is given that opportunity, temptation in the form of the farmers daughter, Millie is to much to handle.
This is a heartfelt story, with a wonderful family that takes Drew in and shows him that he is not alone. Great book and can't wait for the next one.

This is the first book I’ve read by Kylie Carter, but being a fan of J.L Beck, I quickly offered to voluntarily read and review an advanced copy of this book.
When Drew Weston loses everything, he finds himself sleeping in barns or anywhere he can stay warm for the night, but when he gets caught one night, he is sent to the Houzner farm to work for Sam Houzner. He quickly agrees to the job as a farm hand, until he meets his youngest daughter, Millie, who keeps drawing him to her like a moth to a flame. When the pair finally let the growing chemistry between them ignite into something more, Drew’s past comes back to haunt him. The book ends on a cliffhanger, so we’ll just need to wait and see what happens in book two.

Farm Boy by J.L. Beck and Kylie Carter was EVERYTHING! It hit me head on and I am still reeling at the thought of these characters. Drew needed a new beginning, a new start at life. When he came to face Millie, fighting the pull was useless. Millie is a spit-fire that knows what she wants and being hurt again is not an option for her.

Farm Boy gave me all the feel goods. Loved the storyline and could not contain myself at the end....cliffhanger. I may not prefer them, but this has me giddy for the release of the second installment. I am literally bouncing with anticipation for this story to go on. There is awe, passion and drama laced in this duet that flows perfectly. Definitely a favorite of this year!

Yes, I would definitely recommend Farm Boy to other readers. Who doesn't love a hard working, country boy that possesses grit and oozes endless sex appeal.

So don’t get this book. Parts seemed like it was missing a paragraph or two as locations changed.

no idea how I finished this book as she’s nearly raped by her ex boyfriend to not saying anything to her best friend who is is going on a date with the guy.
It’s later said that his dad is the town judge so it would hav3 pointless to call the cops but NOT telling your best friend she was nearly raped after she wants the okay to date him?!?!?

Sweet and fun with lots of angst and a healthy dose of steam. It does end in a cliffhanger so it makes you want more. Drew and Millie do fall hard for each other unfortunately secrets get in the way. Drew is a true swoon worthy cowboy, dominate and strong. Millie had to grow on me. At first she was somewhat immature but towards the end she her strength started to show through.

I have read many books by J.L. Beck and have enjoyed them all. This is the first book I've read by Kylie Carter. I thought the two authors combined well to create a really good book. Millie and Drew were hot and created some steamy scenes together. I'm looking forward to reading book two in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Wow! What can I say this book was so great. I have read several of Ms Beck's books and this is the first co-written book I have read and I think Ms Beck and Ms Carter have done such a good job. This story brought out so many emotions when you read it. From happiness, sadness and even a bit of anger. Millie and Drew are such great characters. from the beginning there is instant attraction. Drew is determined to fight it so that he can keep his job and a roof over his head after the way his uncle ruined life several years ago. Millie knows who Drew is and at first she wants nothing to do with him. Until he protects her from something that could have gone terribly wrong. She realizes Drew wants her as much as she wants him and goes about braking down the walls he is putting up. Trouble comes in the form of the return of Drew's uncle who wants to take the farm away from Millie's family. What will happen? Can Drew help them? Will he leave Millie in order to save her family home? What about the love the two have for one another? I can not wait to read the second part of this story to find out what happens!

Farm Boy is the first book of a duet of this duet! I have always loved JL Beck work and now with Kylie Carter the result is amazing! She normally writes shot sweet/Hot standalone stories, but this is a little longer with cliffhanger.

Drew has everything when he was a teenager, well he lived fine with his grandparents and his only worry was girls and school, until one day somebody takes everything away from him, leaving him alone and homeless.

After a while somebody helps him to get a job that will provide him of a roof and a family, and that's how he meets Millie, the farmer's daughter, he is tempted by her but to him food, a roof and the trust Samuel gave him come first.
It's just harder that Millie wants him too but she knows so little about him and will try to make his life a little complicated.

Millie just lost her mom and she focus in her family, trying to help her sister and dad at the farm while she goes to college. She finds Drew irresistible but there is something in him that makes her being a little rebel with Drew, not knowing this only make Drew wants her more.

“I could tell just by eyein’ her up and down, that she was a little pistol and needed to be handled by a man that knew how to work a loaded gun.”

Just when things were going fine, something will try to tear them apart but they need to face all their fears and secrets if they really want to be together. Love is not easy and is not the perfect solution of everything, they know this but they also know that their love is worth the fight.

I hurt a lot for Drew, he deserves to have his HEA along with Millie and that's what we will need to find when the next book is out! I just can't wait what will be of these two.

Farm Boy by J.L. Beck & Kylie Carter is a very good book. It is book #1 in a two book duet and ends on a cliffhanger. This book offers an emotional and heat filled romance. This well written and engaging read is about Drew and Millie. Both characters have suffered loss and this features heavily in the storyline. Lots of chemistry and emotional turmoil make the book interesting and keep your interest well. I eagerly await book two. I am posting an honest review after reading an ARC copy of this book.

This is a fantastic story about a southern boy and the farmers daughter finding home and love in the midst of sorrow. Drew and Millie's chemistry is blazing, sexy scenes are steamy and their relationship is frustrating, yet relatable. The characters are pretty well developed, although I would have liked a little more background for Drew. I got a little glimpse but would have liked to more about his parents and his grandparents since they raised him. What made his uncle the way he is?

I really enjoyed the build up between Drew and Millie. I laughed, I cried, and I wanted to throw my kindle at times because they are both stubborn individuals but still lovable. Drew is a good southern boy trying to rise above his circumstances. He went from the golden boy, prom king and star quarter back to alone, penniless and homeless. But once he is taken on as help on the Houzner's farm he can't help but notice the little pistol, Millie. It was just supposed to be a good time, but love isn't something you can control.
"I'm consumed by you, Millie. Completely f**king consumed."

Millie is a firecracker, Drew's little pistol, a farmer's daughter that has dreams to be a vet. She has survived losing her momma but when Drew pulls into her driveway things start to turn around. Until she receives devastating news. What is she going to do when she finds her life crumbling around her? Will Drew be able to protect Millie and her family?

This is the 1st part of this duet, and is written by a talented collaboration of authors. Millie is sassy and sweet, and lives on the farm with her Dad and sister, and she will do whatever she needs too for her family. Drew is intense and sexy, as well as desolate, when he arrives at the farm looking for a job and roof over his head. The chemistry between these two is instant. No spoilers; this is an absolute must read, you will not be disappointed!
These two authors have written a beautiful storyline, which is steamy, humorous, and emotional. I cannot wait to read the next book in this amazing duet. Brilliant work Ladies!!

Drew is a hard working man. After a tragedy he finds himself out of work and homeless. All his plans for the future gone. With a little help, he gets a job working on the Houzner's farm. Drew is out of sorts. He's been dealt a s**t hand lately but he's determined to make the best of it. He needs to make a good impression if he intends to turn his life around....that is until he sees Millie. Millie is a smart a**, firecracker of a girl. She's gorgeous an Drew takes notice. The attraction is immediate, so is the sexual tension. When Drew saves Millie from an altercation with her ex, he realizes, around her, his protective instincts are on high alert. The temptation becomes too much and Drew needs to decide if being with Millie is worth the guilt of knowing that she deserves a better man. As soon as it becomes physical, they realize it's not just about sex. Just as things seem to be coming together, someone from Drew's past returns and threatens his future. The same man who stole everything from him.
WELL WRITTEN STORYLINE WITH COMPLEX CHARACTERS ! AWESOME ATTENTION TO DETAIL ! CRAZY, INTENSE CHEMISTRY WITH SMOKING HOT, MIND BLOWING SEX ! ! !
Be advised, this book ends in a cliff hanger, but this story is amazing and it will definitely keep your interest. THIS IS A DEFINITE MUST READ !
