I learned so much and the language was really easy to grasp. Definitely a must-read for everyone! especially for people who want to understand how homophobia and transphobia were constructed. I'll come back to this again and again

A wonderful essay about the roots of homophobia (with slight insight into transphobia) and how the property has affected the way we view nowadays human relationships, sexuality and gender. Being written in the '90s, Bob McCubbin ideas' are as relevant as they were at that time.
Not only was homosexuality acceptable among many primitive peoples, but it is found in virtually every human grouping in every period examined.

An absolute masterpiece. I used this book as the base of my senior thesis I wrote in order to graduate from college. It is a critical read in the field of Women's, Sexuality, and Gender Studies. I cannot recommend enough. Plus, I've been lucky enough to meet Bob in person and he is just a delight!

Good examination of early human sexuality and the oppression thereof by capitalism; only complaint is that the book neglects to mention Magnus Herschfeld's Jewish identity and his material work in his community and among his peers including and beyond the Institute of Sexology.

A delightful primer from a Marxist-Leninist perspective on LGBTQ struggles. Quick read too!

seems a little trotskyist. not sure why he mentions criticisms of stalin so much but praises the leader ship of trotsky. overall helpful though just dated in the way he speaks about trans people
