Spring is in the air, and Kyle has come home. With a surprise. Belinda never thought she’d see the day that a murder investigation would be a welcome distraction. But when Kyle’s return from Australia isn’t the reunion she expected, trying to figure out why a young woman wound up dead in her family’s pool turns out to be a way to escape her woes. Especially when the victim’s murder seems to be entwined with a secret from her past, and those who know it are keeping it close. As Belinda and Bennett aid Jonas in finding a murderer, Belinda’s issues with her brother escalate. While they rely on evidence and good old-fashioned snooping to expose the killer, Belinda’s situation with her brother ends up revealing how she and Bennett truly feel about each other–and what the future may hold for them. Hello! And thanks for checking out my books! I've written two mystery novels so far. My first, Dead Locked, is about Imogen Bell who works for a team of underwater archaeologists and ends up embroiled in a deadly treasure hunt. My second mystery, The Jester's Apprentice, is about Philippa, a woman caught between her new husband Edric and his smoky past - and hers.
I've always loved mysteries, even in elementary school. My mother raised me on TV show reruns like Murder, She Wrote, Matlock, and Magnum, P.I, and later I picked up her Agatha Christie addiction.
However, sometimes I just want a hot (but intelligent) guy and a strong woman bantering for pages. Or a gripping action sequence. Or some fun sci-fi/fantasy elements. And sometimes I want it all in the same book. So with mystery as the backbone of my stories, I blend in romance, action, adventure, and soon sci-fi to keep it fresh and exciting.
Why should you take a chance on my books? Well, I write what I'm passionate about, and I'm passionate about people and mysteries. I make my characters passionate too: about each other, about what they're hunting, fixing, or piecing together. Above all, I want my readers to have fun, and leave happy!
Belinda is anticipating her brothers return home, until he actually gets there. She meets his new girlfriend, and has decided she doesn't like her even before she's been introduced.
Belinda turns into a petulant, selfish, witch. She is more concerned with her not being able to spend time with her brother like she wanted to, that she is about whether her brother might be happy or not. She even breaks into the girlfriend's room to snoop on her rather than try and give her a chance to see whether she's a nice person or not.
After reading over 1/3 of this book, and the focus being solely on Belinda's hurt feelings that she's not spending time with her brother., rather than helping solve the murder like she's been asked to do. I gave up on the book. This is the first book of the series that I really did not like. If this had been the first book in the series I would not have read any more of them.
Belinda & Bennett mysteries are the perfect package. There is a murder to solve, a new girlfriend to hate, a brother to forgive, a best friend to get into trouble with, & a delicious boyfriend to get closer to. It was entertaining & engaging, & a very fun read!
I love this series! The characters come across like real people, someone who is a friend of the family or a family member. This particular book keeps you guessing till the very end. Was it murder? And if yes who is the murderer?
