Every inch of my body was trying to get me away from reading this book. I bought this book since it was recognized by a national award. Thought it could be something spectacular.
It was not. Something about the words. And the sentences. And the unnecessary paragraphs. The writing was trailing off. I remember a part when after he announced his plans for presidency, it covered a whole 3 pages with statements merely telling that people had mixed reactions about it. Rather than going straight to the point, it used flowery, unnecessary and redundant words and ideas.
I can understand that it may be author's writing style but I don't really like it. I'm sorry. I even haven't finished it halfway and I don't want to read it no more. There's no hook into it. It's merely telling the stories in a narrative way, rather than descriptive and imaginative. I felt like I was guided on how to imagine how the story flows, rather than create my own mental images from the story. And that's what the stories/novel are made for. To travel in your own imaginary seas and adventures.
I'm a college student, wanting to pass time by reading books. If this is meant for young adults, it's a 'meh' for me.
