Good girls work hard. Good girls keep their noses clean and don’t do anything that would be considered morally questionable. I’m a good girl… Or at least that’s what I used to think.
With my mom sick and health care bills mounting, who has time to do things right anymore? I have to take care of things, and fast. So what if being paid for sex is a bad idea? It’s only once or twice—until Caleb Robertson, with his bright blue eyes and propensity for saying and doing everything right, books me for the night. Suddenly there’s no longer a right or wrong. There’s just my heart, and it’s about to be broken.
3 1/2 stars: The premise and the flow of the story was good. But there were a few things that caused me to rate lower than what may have been. Pros: It was a quick read novella with an Insta-love (which, lets face it, you need in a novella) and a hot billionaire. The sex scenes were quick and to the point. No dilly dallying around it. (Though depending on your preference, this may be a con. I often skim through them though, wanting to get to the heart of the romance.) The male lead was a good guy (even if he was paying for sex.) He wasn't playing with her emotions. In fact, after she had treated him poorly when he didn't deserve it, he still went out of his way to show he cared. The female lead was strong and didn't play the pity game even if her life might have earned that right. She wasn't asking for handouts and worked hard for what she needed. Cons: The Insta-love aspect. I know I mentioned this with the pros, and in a short story it is, but the way this played out didn't appeal to me. The female was immediately having to talk herself out of developing feelings for the guy before she even spent time with him. And she knew he was paying for sex, and he admitted he liked the short term 'ownership' of the women he's with, yet right away she was talking like their 'working' relationship could possibly turn into something more, when at that time, he's never given her any indication it would. I also didn't care for the way she treated him after she left his apartment after spending the night. She acted like he did something wrong, which he didn't. It almost seemed like she had multiple personalities or something. I know some of these cons are things that are somewhat expected when the book is not a full length novel (can't get into as many details,) but it would have been better with just a few extra pages to build on the emotions a little more. To make it more believable.
Maggie is young, and working two jobs to take care of her mom because she has breast cancer. Her day job is at a vet clinic. Her second was waitressing until she spilled a drink and got fired. A friend mentions a job opportunity in the form of escorting. She drunkenly signs up and takes her first job offer the next day when he gives her an exorbitant fee.
Caleb is your typical rich dude. Money isn't an issue and never will be. He tosses it around with abandon. He buys time with escorts because the women in his life don't want to participate in his BDSM lifestyle.
This book was short, without a lot of backstory for either character, but a shit ton of instalove. And really, it was like BDSM Lite. He has a playroom and insists on being called Master or Sir. So dominating. (Eye roll!) A few sexual encounters and the credits roll.
The book was quick paced, with continuity but it bordered on unbelievable with a toe across the line more than once. I didn't find that many typos or grammatical errors.
This might not occur to anyone else but I'm going to mention it. The author comes across as British but the setting was Atlanta. My first thought was, "I didn't know there was an Atlanta in England." It bothered me a bit, as I kept expecting that there would be an eventual explanation that indeed one of them was British. I searched a bit and couldn't find any bio info on the author so I could be wrong. But it was a strong impression.
Can I recommend the book? Meh, it wasn't the worst and it wasn't the best. It's a stroke book, not great literature. It wasn't smoking hot though either.
A fast pace read that will keep you intrigued from beginning till the end. Maggie has now taken the job of taking care of her mother since she has been diagnosed with cancer, the medical bills keep adding up and now Maggie has just lost her 2nd job. Working two jobs is a lot but does what is needed to get the two of the through this troubling time. Her friend has talked her into making a profile for a high class escort site. The day after she does this, she's surprised to find her first message who is from Caleb who would like to meet. Reluctantly she agree and is completely caught off guard with how handsome he is when they meet. When things start to heat up will she be able to walk away before her heart gets broken? Will Caleb let her go? Well written, interesting storyline with characters that are likable.
Maggie is a good girl trying to take care of her mother who has cancer. She’s doing the best she can, working two jobs and running herself ragged to keep up with the medical bills. Unfortunately she loses her second job and take a chance on something a bit more unconventional. Caleb isn’t looking for a relationship. He prefers to buy a woman’s time. When he and Maggie meet, she can’t believe he’d pay someone to spend time with him. Their working relationship begins but it definitely doesn’t feel like work to Maggie. This has a bit of a Cinderella feel to it. It was sweet at times, and downright sexy for most of it. *I voluntarily am reviewing an Advanced Reader Copy of this book that I received through Shifted Sheets Book Promotions.*
I enjoyed reading about Caleb and Maggie. Maggie is struggling with two jobs to pay her mothers medical bills and keep a roof over their head. She gets fired from her evening job as a cocktail waitress. Her friend Kara talks to her about becoming an escort because the money is phenomenal. One evening after a little too much wine she signs up on the escort service web site. Next day she has a text from a potential client for $5000 for one night. She is scared, leery and cautious. She meets Caleb for coffee and that begins the relationship. It is a quick and enjoyable read. I voluntarily received an Advanced Readers Copy of the book for review from Shifted Sheets.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this book. It was a quick hot read. Maggie was doing everything she could to pay her mom's medical bills but she was way behind. Meeting Caleb through the internet seemed like the way to make money to pay her bills. Specially after she meets the sexy Caleb in person. That is until she falls in love with him. I was a little confused in spots. It was like one thought was going on then boom the story jumps to another thought in the next paragraph. I had to reread portions of this story a couple of times. But all in all it is a good story
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book Maggie has two work because her mother is sick, but it’s quite hard to stand for two. She’s fired from a waitress job because she fell on a famous customer. So her friend Kara gives her the adress of a web site which hires escort. During a drunk night, she applies and in the morning, she receives her first ask for a date. She meets Caleb who is really attractive who needs a girl he can « owned » an be kinky with. She’s completely under his spell but she doesn’t want to fall for him and decides to stop ….. if they can. I found the story quite good and hot, but too simple.
Great quick read!! This story pulls you in from page 1 and keeps you coming back until the end. Maggie is struggling to keep her head above water due to her mother having cancer. After losing one of her jobs due to being exhausted and accidentally spilling a tray of drinks, her best friend suggests that she apply to an escort site online. After some thought, she decides to go for it and almost immediately gets a response. After being denied the first couple of times, Caleb finally convinces Maggie to meet him. The story has you rooting for Maggie and Caleb. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
3.25 stars This story is short, fast paced and easy to read. Although this story is fast paced, I did find parts of it long winded. I think it was because I failed to connect with Maggie. I liked what she was doing for her mother but her as a person irritated me. I really liked Caleb. I liked his personality and his feelings for Maggie was clear to see. I liked Maggie a little bit but she irritated the hell out of me. I wanted to shout at her to give Caleb a chance and stop being so closed off. Other than that, I liked this story. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is a nice read.
I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book from Exclusive ARC. Caleb has a unique need to feel satisfied in his love life. Maggie has a sick Mom, and an ever growing debt. Maggie's friend finds an escort site that will allow Maggie to start paying off those debts with no strings attached. However, can that really happen, or will Maggie's heart be taken and destroyed? This is a must read novella, with a cliff-hanger, because, of course, we'll all want to know what happens next...
Mmm. Escorts, alpha male and light bondage. What more could a girl ask for? This book of instalove was quick, dirty and absolutley fantastic. Maggie, struggling to make ends meet follows one of her friend's crazy money making ideas, signs up to an escort site. Caleb, tired of not connecting with the women he meets, contacts Maggie through the site and they agree to meet to see if they fit each other. With spicy scenes and emotional scenes this quick read takes the reader for a bumpy but enjoyable ride.
Maggie has been struggling to pay her mother's mounting cancer treatment bills. After losing her second job she is forced to look for other alternatives. A friend tells her how much money she can make as an escort and after a little wine, she agrees to sign up with the agency. Caleb prefers to pay for sex so he will avoid any emotional attachment. No spoiler here, but the attraction and spice intensifies. A good read. I received an arc copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.
Short and quick, hot and steamy read. Maggie becomes an escort to help pay for her mother's medical bills. Caleb is a user of the site and messages Maggie. They meet and have an instant attraction and an emotional connection. Can they make a relationship work or will Maggie walk away? I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I got this book as an ARC in exchange for a voluntary review. Maggie is working two jobs to help pay her mom's medical bills. She loses her night job and becomes an escort. She meets Caleb that way. He takes very good care of her. Will she stay with him? Will he get tired of her and let her go ?
This one was just okay. I wouldn’t say it was great, but it definitely wasn’t horrible. The story got my attention though it wasn't as hot as I was expecting.

Another interesting book. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong characters and good plot. I voluntarily reviewed an Exclusive Advance Reader Copy of this book.

A short steamy read with a hint of BDSM. I enjoyed this story - Maggie’s character was developed really well. The only thing missing for me was Caleb’s POV.
Maggie is working two jobs to pay for her mother's medical bills. When she loses one of her jobs, she takes a chance and becomes an escort. She's not convince but she needs the money. That's how she meets Caleb.
Caleb works too much and doesn't have time to date, but he has needs like every other human male, so he decides to use an escort service. When he first see Maggie, he wants her bad, but he's confused about his reaction to her at the same time.
The development of both characters is good during the short length of this story. I really enjoy the fact that wasn't a mushy insta-love romance. Don't get me wrong, it was fast, but I liked the pace of everything.
This is the first book I've read by Lexi Adams and I have to say she did a good job with this one. I liked it and even had some light BDSM aspects to it, which was an added bonus in my opinion.
*I received a free ARC copy of this book through Shifted Sheets Book Promotions and am voluntarily leaving a review*
Good book. Proof friends with benefits (even if it's for needed money) never works. Would have liked to have more dialogue, but that's just also a personal preference thing with me. Still enjoyed. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy if this book
