Girl Band #1

Mister McHottie

Chase
I’ve just bought the woman of my nightmares.
Technically, I bought the company she works for. Point is, she cost me my two best friends ten years ago. It’s payback time, and I’m going to make her life hell.
When I’m not banging her silly and myself stupid.
I need to get my head back in business, because getting off is great, but "He was a man who had sex, and lots of it, and in the worst locations, with the woman of his nightmares" isn’t the inscription I want on my tombstone.
Even if it’s true.

Ambrosia
There are three things I hate:
Bratwurst in any form, my neighbors boinking loudly like farm animals at 3 AM, and Chase Jett.
Mostly I hate Chase Jett. It’s been ten years since he took my virginity—I’d make a bratwurst joke, but the unfortunate truth is that it would have to be a bratbest joke, and yes, it kills me to admit it—and now he’s not only a billionaire, he’s also my new boss.
Turns out our hate is mutual. And this kind of hate is horrifically twisted, filthy, and banging hot.
I just might have to hate him forever.

MISTER McHOTTIE is 45,000 gloriously hilarious, hot, sexy words that your mother warned you about, complete with an organic happy-ever-after (or seven), a Bratwurst Wagon, ill-advised office pranks, and no cheating or cliffhangers.

I LOVED this book!!! I had no idea what to expect as I have never read this author before (that's going to change). For most of the book I was like...................

 photo goingtopee_zps5iinprbh.jpg

Ambrosia/Bro/Sia May Berger and Chase (the dick) Jet have a history and to say they hate each other would be an understatement. These two grew up in the same small town and spent their time pranking each other with the help of Bro's twin brothers, the big falling out they had was friggin hilarious!! It involves a bratwurst wagon, naked bodies, a police chase and jail.
When Chase the now billionaire comes and buys the company Bro works at she vows not to let him win this time.
Last time, Chase won. He got my cherry, he got my pride, and he got to see me tossed in the slammer. Now, his billions might stack the odds against me, but this is my home. My City. My job. And this time, victory will be mine.

Chase is HOT, COCKY AND SUPER RICH, perfect combo! Even when he is being an arrogant prick I still liked him and could tell he was a nice guy under it all.

Ambrosia was one of the best lead females I have read this year. She was hilarious without being stupid (hard to do) and her kick ass don't take no shit attitude was awesome. Really though I loved every character in this book, all Bro's work colleagues, her friends and especially her brothers Zeus and Ares the twin behemoths they all cracked me up.

Before I started I was crossing everything that Mister Mchottie would be hot and steamy, let me say I was not disappointed. The banter and the way these two do foreplay was gold, even when it was hot and heavy it was still funny.

This book has landed on my top 5 rom-coms, to me it had everything a rom-com should. I'm telling you if you like rom-coms READ THIS BOOK!!

Mister McHottie is by a new to me author, Pippa Grant. This is the year I have promised myself that I would stop dreaming about all the new authors I wanted to try and actually read their books. Wow are things going well so far! I am in love with this book!

Chase Jett grew up in the small town of Wishberry Lake, Minnesota, home of canned baloney. He grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, with a mom struggling to put food on the table and a dad who gambled away what little money they had. If it weren’t for the family of his best friends, he wouldn’t have had any life at all. He spent most all his free time at the home of the twin boys who were his best friends and partners in crime, mostly spending their time terrorizing their little sister, Ambrosia. Only as Bro, as he liked to call her, got older, she learned to give as good as she got, and their lives were basically a contest as to who could get the other better. But then “that night” happened. The night when he and Bro broke in to the Bratwurst Wagon and were trading insults which resulted in them both giving up their virginity that night. When the cops came, Chase got away, but Bro didn’t.

hot dog truck

It’s been ten years since Ambrosia May Berger was put in jail for the “Bratwurst Wagon incident.” She lost her college scholarship because of that night. She is now in New York and has a job she loves, she is the social media manager for Crunchy, the second biggest organic grocery store in New York. It’s been ten years since she laid eyes on the man she hates with every fiber of her being, the now self made billionaire and brand new owner of Crunchy. Her new boss!

“His billions might stack the odds against me, but this is my home. My city. My job. And this time, victory will be mine.”

There is such a fine line between hate and lust. And these two are all over that line. They can’t be within ten feet of each other and not end up having crazy hate sex, usually in inappropriate places, sometimes forgetting that there are security cameras!

“This woman drives me mad. She’s obnoxious as toe fungus, and pathologically self-righteous. I want to crush her, I want to ruin her. I want to own her.”

bed springs gif

What I loved about this book was the slow reveal of the real person hiding inside of these two. Chase was really a good man. When he saw changes that needed to be made immediately in Crunchy’s corporate management, he didn’t hesitate for a second. And don’t even get me started on his hotness factor! Bro has an over the top crazy family, her twin brothers who are now huge hockey stars, are completely crazy. But she does realize that she is lucky. She has the love and support of her family.

“For the first time in my life, I’m wrapped in a comfortable silence with Bro. So this is what it feels like to not hate her. Or possibly to like her. Or possibly more than like her.”

This might have been my first experience with crazy hate sex. But it was evident to me from the start that all this hate sex was really just a misconstrued attraction to one another. That it was there all along, that something that was between them. We’ll just say that these two took a REALLY long and difficult path to figuring it out as well. I joined Pippa Grant’s mailing list and in doing so, was able to get an extended epilogue to this book. What was a wonderful ending became even better with a look into their future. I really hope you’ll do the same. It made my heart so much happier knowing more of how things went for them. I definitely want more of this author. The next book I hope to get to is Stud in the Stacks, which is Bro’s friend Parker’s story. What you can count on with this book is that you will laugh, a lot! You might even cringe. But you will also smile, even swoon perhaps. And you will be cheering for these two just as I was, that they could figure out that if they stopped trying so hard to hate each other, they might just find out that what they are really feeling isn’t hate at all!

Fun and giggles
Pranks and jokes
Chase and Ambrosia.
These two have known each other since they were children. Chase was the best friend of Ambrosia’s brothers. These three (especially Chase) loved to make little Ambrosia suffer with practical jokes, until little Ambrosia had enough and she started fighting back. So Chase and Ambrosia have spent their teenager years trying to humiliate each other.

Until one day one of these pranks went too far and Ambrosia ended up in jail with a criminal record while she failed to enter her favorite university.
On the other hand Chase managed not to be caught, he left Ambrosia alone to face the charges and he never went to jail.

A few years after Chase is a billionaire and apparently Ambrosia works in one of the businesses that he has just bought. The pranks will start again. Her two brothers will appear again in his life (They have stopped being his best friends when he abandoned their sister) and Chase will realize that he is crazy for this girl – although she mostly drives him crazy.

“Your sister can take care of herself. She glitter-bombed my office, and god only knows what she buried in my desk drawers to make that stench.”
Ares loosens his grip, and my feet slip closer to the ground. “She got you with that sparkle shit?”
Aw, he said a two-syllable word. His mother will be proud. “All over my ass.”

In case you wonder, Chase glitters in almost every scene of this book.

This is a very very funny book. The two main characters besides torturing each other with their jokes, they are also constantly getting caught having sex in every available public space.
Obviously hatred is one of the best aphrodisiacs.

I am looking forward for the books about the secondary characters.

Well, this is my first hard miss with this author, and I'm going to be honest here: I hated it. It has every fucking thing I can't stand in books.

Rampant misogyny? Check

The FMC was constantly shit on by this guy - he legit ruined her life, leaving her holding the bag all alone and GOING TO JAIL. She was expelled from her college. Forced to leave her hometown. All while this motherfucker faced zero consequences. And had the gall to actively hate her for the following decade, because boohoo her brothers were his best friends and they didn't want to be friends with this fucker anymore after he utterly and completely fucked their sister over.

His mother hates her too. Because she's the girl, and well, boys will be boys, but that no good girl tried to make my golden boy face consequences.

Fuck all these people.

And he has continued his life with this same self-absorbed bullshit. He has sex with her in an elevator and in his POV actually is pissy that she lured him into doing it. He actually yells at her for not having a condom, because apparently that is also her sole responsibility. This motherfucker has never - not 10 years ago and not now - taken a single bit of responsibility for his own actions. He's a fucking pig.

But oh, he rides in with his magic penis and fat stack of cash, and demands they expunge her record - ten years later when it doesn't matter in any way because he can't give her college or a decent career back - and oh, what a hero! How can anyone be mad at this sweet boy!

Still, for the record in case anyone was counting: zero fucking consequences for him in any way, shape, or form.

And despite all this fucking disgusting shit, the FMC just can't stay away from him. It is the ultimate "but he's hot (and rich) so it's okay" which is the most horrible trend in books imo.

He is an actual, literal piece of shit who tormented her for her entire childhood and then actually ruined her life... And she can't stop fucking him at every opportunity.

He never actually has to put any effort into winning her over. Just showing up is enough.

Fuck.

That.

DNF after 45%. Skimmed through the rest of the book.

I picked up this book because I enjoy reading love-hate romance books. I like the push and pull between the characters. I love it when the MC's trade flirty, sarcastic barbs. That's my jam. BUT I didn't like the rhythm between the MC's. I didn't like what she thought. I didn't like what he thought. I didn't like what they did. And as I kept on reading, I found myself getting annoyed and irritated by the hijinks described.

Maybe it's me. Because I'm always a little wary of blurbs that tell me that I will laugh my head off or find it hilarious. Maybe I'm cynical but I'd rather have a book deliver without over-promising. Or maybe it's because I'm not really crazy about OTT pranks and find that sort of humor, silly and annoying. I'm a big fan of subtle, sarcastic dialogue and wit rather than Jim Carrey-esque antics.

This wasn't the book for me. Sorry.

3.5 stars: 2024 reread

I’ll leave my 2020 review, but my updated 2024 review will be below it

2020 review
Where the hell have I been and why haven’t I read this author before?!!!! I found myself laughing out loud and swooning at how hot the sex scenes were, which is one of my favorite combinations when I read a book.

Chase (aka Dick) and Ambrosia (aka Sia aka Bro) have known each other for decades but had a horrible experience following Bro losing her virginity to Chase in a bratwurst food truck and her subsequent incarceration/college denial after she got a record. She felt forced to move away from her life in Minnesota because of what happened and found herself in a new state. 10 years later, Chase is no longer poor (a billionaire), and has bought out the company Sia works at. Essentially, he’s her boss and man do the sparks fly and the verbal jabs cut the sexual tension that lead to some hot, dirty, intimate time for these two and I. WAS. HERE. FOR. IT. ALL!!!! The elevator scene had me DYING, laughing out loud, and then had me 😳 at how quick their hatred turned into sex. I was 😱buuuut I loved it all. Their connection is definitely explosive and it’s inevitable how much they are turned on by each other. The more they hate-talk to each other, the hotter their time together is. I LOVED IT!!!

Oh, and all the secondary characters had me laughing my butt off too!! I have already one-clicked book 2 because I NEED to see what happens with her bff and then, eventually, with her brothers and any other characters I feel invested in.

I love enemies-to-lovers books (my ultimate, favorite storyline), and this one had me laughing out loud as well as swooning and panting at the hot scenes. I found a new favorite author!

2024 review
On my reread, I appreciated some things, but other things annoyed me.

Things I liked/loved
-How 🔥 it is. Dang... it REALLY went from 0 to 60 in a second😅. There's no much STEEEEAM!!! I especially loved it because of their hate-relationship lol

-the side characters ❤. At this point, I've read most of their books lol (the twins crack me the F up). I DO need to finish this series though (the rest of the band girls' books).

-the epilogues ❤. It's BECAUSE of the epilogue that I rounded up and not down (plus, the audiobook was free through libby lol that's always a plus 🤣). I love seeing the MCs living their best life TOGETHER in epilogues, and we get like 4 of them here ❤

Things that ANNOYED me this time around (which didn't affect 2020 Sonia) SPOILERS
—not knowing exactly why Sia decided to give up her v to Chase 😐. Although I don't mind this part, what I wanted more of was the buildup to this. One day she decided to finally sleep with Chase while inside a stolen Bratwurst truck 🤨? I wish we had gotten a chapter in the past (since this is considered "second chance") maybe showing up the buildup 🤷

—the lack of information on her experience during the ten years 😐. He tells us that he's never orgasmed as intense as he does with Sia in the present (not with the person he lost her v to, or with Sia the night she lost HER v to him, or with any of the musicians or actresses that wanted to "bang a billionaire") which means that he's gotten A LOT of experienced during these ten years 🥴. I HEAVILY DISLIKE such HUGE discrepancies in experience during a separation 😐 (it's why I don't read celibate heroines/manwhore heroes in second chance).

—the reason why he didn't check on her AFTER the Bratwurst food truck 😑. Okay, hear me out. Yes, his mom was unresponsive and he took her to the hospital. Yes, he had a LOOOOT to deal with in regards to his mom's health. HOWEVER, you're telling me that he NEVER thought about checking in on Sia after he took her v that she ended up getting in trouble for (stolen food truck)? I'm sorry. But I've had many family members go to the hospital and not once did I forget to contact my partner. I know Sia and Chase weren't technically together, but still. She ends up going to jail because of all this and found it hard to find a job/go to college because of her record. It just bothered me WAAAY too much. Not because he had a legitimate reason to focus on his mom's health after but at the lack of communication/follow-up to ensure she was safe. He basically was like "survival of the fittest" and she got the short-end of the stick while he became a billionaire

—the lack of safety info, as in, that they’re both (mostly him 😐) clean (birth control doesn’t protect against STDs 🤷🏻‍♀️

Overall, I still liked a lot of this, but some things just bothered me

⚠️safety squad⚠️
-no cheating/sharing/owd/omd
-10 year separation
-h was a v/lost it to H
-since the separation, H has slept around/no info on the h
-no condoms (and no mention of anyone’s health history, as if the H is so clean 🙄)/h on birth control
-HEA/4 epilogues

High-octane, raunchy, hilarity…

And a feel-good romance as well! This was a side-splitting, witty, funny, heart-smunching beginning to this series. The Girl Band members are there for each other and they don’t let anything slide. They call it the way they see it and Ambrosia’s current predicament was going to let their (awesome) out…

Chase and Ambrosia had a very checkered, sausage-filled past. A childhood filled with brothers and pranks, that included their good friend Chase, ended in a horrible, non-funny way. Their memories of events were much different though so when they met up years later, there was a lot to work through… These two were uninhibited and brought out the best and wurst in each other. I happily was along for the wild ride…

If you want a welcome dose of wild and crazy, laughter and heart in your romance than you have come to the right place. And needless to say, bring it (more) on! ~Diane, 4 stars

My best friend recommended this one to me, and that lady definitely knows what I like ;) This is a steamy, enemies-to-lovers story with humor sprinkled throughout.

Ambrosia Berger (whose mother is a lit prof, thus the name, but since her twin brothers are Zeus and Ares, she got off easy in her estimation) loves her social media/marketing job at Crunchy, a Whole Foods-esque grocery chain, but now her future is in jeopardy because D!ck (former childhood friend of hers and the twins) bought it with his billions of dollars he just likes to waive around at everyone.

D!ck usually goes by the name Chase Jett, and yes he has made billions that he likes to use to acquire companies with, but he does have an end game in mind, and there is a reason he bought Crunchy that ties into it.... except he just found out that "Bro" (childhood nickname for Ambrosia who now goes by "Sia," thank you very much) is employed by his latest acquisition. He hasn't seen her since the night they hijacked a bratwurst wagon and had angry (but very hot) sex in it. After that incident, the sh!t hit the fan with both of them, and the blame game has left the childhood friends "enemies" ever since.

But as the insults fly, the heat between them only seems to grow... Is there any chance they can work together with all the history? How can they be so attracted to each other when they hate each other? And what will happen when that attraction leads to further consequences?

What I liked:
--- The love/hate vibe between the two provided a lot of humor, and Ambrosia's inner dialogue was often LOL funny
--- Ambrosia's twin brothers were HILARIOUS - can't wait to read their stories (which are in the Copper Valley series)
--- STEAMY GOODNESS - early, often, & hilarious at times

What I didn't like as much:
--- Ambrosia was a little too immature at times for me
--- Did they really need to mention that Chase is a billionaire in every other line? We get it.
--- Still not sure why Chase was upset with Ambrosia

Overall, this was a really fun and quick read with plenty of humor and steamy goodness to keep the pages turning!

Plot --- 4/5
Main Characters --- 4/5
Supporting Cast --- 4/5
Steam Level* --- 4/5
Violence --- none
Language --- yes
POV ---Dual (Ambrosia more often than Chase)

*Note that steam level is not a rating so much as a how hot was it: 0/5 - clean; 1/5 - mild (nothing descriptive); 2/5 - 3rd base action/1 home run; 3/5 - now we're getting somewhere (a couple of full-on steamy scenes); 4/5 - yes please! (erotica territory); 5/5 - they did EVERYTHING in this one, y'all

This stands at the start of a bunch of serieses. It's the first of Girl Band and The Copper Valley Thrusters, but it also mentions Bro Code, foreshadowing that one as well.

This was pretty good. I'm not sure if I'm projecting because I know what comes next (having read a lot of the follow-on books before this one) but it seems like the banter isn't quite there, yet, and the, I dunno, heart maybe? wasn't as strong. I liked Ambrosia and Chase. But their fighting had an edge I don't like. And I'm not that happy about all the sex when they truly hate each other. That's probably a me thing, though.

Anyway, I don't have much else to say. It's a solid-enough start. And I love the idea of an all-girl band covering boy band songs (exclusively). That's a fantastic idea and one I'm going to spend some time googling to see if there is such a thing. There definitely should be! At any rate, it's 3½ stars that I'm not going to round up because so much of the hate bits sat poorly for me.

A note about Steamy: There was lots of sex. It felt like more than it was because both leads are thinking with their sex parts all the time so even when they aren't doing it, they're kind of doing it. So this is outside my steam tolerance, though it's probably not an excess if you count the scenes carefully.

Imagine you lose your virginity. On a Bratwurst mobile. To your worst childhood enemy. And that’s just the beginning. Then a decade later, you finally get your life on track and that same enemy is now your boss. What do you do? I’m gonna go out on a limb and say you probably wouldn’t do what Bro does, but damn it was funny to read. Oh, and along the way, hate-to-love-you romance happens.

description

The Good. Holy bratwurst is this funny. I cracked up from the very beginning and had a smile on my face for most of the book. The Firsts are pretty damn memorable and each sexual encounter (and there are several), are pretty intense. The banter can be quick and snarky, which is right up my alley. From the moment you meet Ambrosia, or Bro as Chase calls her, and Chase enters her orbit, you know that it’s on like Donkey Kong between these two. They LIVE for those moments when they can insult each other because it gets them so damn hot that they incinerate each other...and everything else in a twenty mile radius blast. I have a weakness for characters who have this type of chemistry and man are Chase and Bro vibrant, passionate and fun. You want to keep them in your sights because you just don’t know what they’ll say or do next, but you know it's going to be funny. And painful.

description

It’s an enemies-to-lovers-to-enemies-while-lovers kind of tale, and in my opinion, it’s hard to ride that line between hate and love effectively because if they’re too hateful I don’t always believe the turn to love. However, this is a rom-com and it stays that way. It never delves into the truly dark edge that passionate relationships like this can take on. There’s plenty of entertainment to be had without too much angst to bring the fun level down. I think Ms. Grant managed to infuse enough of their history into their banter and it gave their relationship some depth, gave a nice layer of emotion to those heated sexual exchanges. Even when they’re spitting mad at each other, I could read between the lines to the frustrated affection and vulnerability underneath it all.

The Bad. That kind of passionate exchange is a hard tempo to keep up, and towards the end, it did get to be hitting the same notes often - the swing from funny to sexy and back again can make you woozy. Not a bad combo, just a bit much. Also, while it’s heightened comedy, the way the story tries to “right” the wrong of Bro’s past criminal history is just wrong (and yes, I work in criminal law so these little things bug me). But, these are minor quibbles, and ones I can certainly live with.

Everything in Between. What can I say about the quirky touches to this tale, except that I loved them. All the supporting characters are a hoot. I liked that they had their moments, but I never forgot that this is Bro and Chase’s romance. From Bro’s twin brothers (gigantic Neanderthals known as the Twin Tanks in the NHL) to her BFFs, all members of a boyband cover band, they all enrich this story and make me want to see each of them get their own HEA.

description

I truly, truly enjoyed Bro and Chase’s hate to love and was very happy to see them make their way to their HEA. If you love that mix of heat and heart with a big ole dose of funny in your romance, I would highly recommend you grab Mister McHottie.

This was a freaking funny, smutty light read. This is not a typical love story. The hero and heroine both hate each others guts, however there is something brewing deep down. Public sex seems to be the theme here, and boy do they burn up the pages.

I love a well done romantic comedy once in a while. This one is ridiculously fun, cute and sexy. Pippa Grant is a "new to me" author - I have no idea if it's a pen name for another author or what, but I am here for allllll of her books. As my blog partner, Kini, pointed out - she is like Alice Clayton, but a little more sexy, and less crude than Helena Hunting. So we have sexy, and funny - with a million insults and pranks and it all worked for me.

Ambrosia (nicknamed "Bro" if you see that in a quote) and Chase grew up together in Minnesota. Ambrosia has two older brothers who were best friends with Chase and they got into a lot of trouble together. But it was Chase and Ambrosia who really connected - in a very immature way. They would constantly prank each other and try to out-do one another growing up. They went above and beyond normal pranking and always ended up in trouble together. But one night it went too far. Their jesting with each other, turned into being naked and having sex...but inside a Bratwurst Wagon during their town's baloney festival....

"He took my virginity on the floor between the cabinets where they store the buns and the fridge where they keep the sausages. And then the cops showed up, and he told me to drive and he ran like a lily-livered dog turd, and I got arrested for stealing a giant bratwurst on wheels while he got to be a billionaire."

Ambrosia was arrested and spent three nights in jail, and lost her admission to Vassar College. This devastated her and caused a rift between Chase and Ambrosia that was never mended.

In present day, Ambrosia is the social media manager for an organic grocery store called Crunchy. One of the biggest ones in New York, she loves her job and has an amazing set of girlfriends (this is a big highlight in the book). Her professional bliss is suddenly washed away when Crunchy sells to a new owner...a billionsiare owner, with the name of Chase.

That's right. Chase grew up and made an online game that made him lots of money. After some tech investments went crazy, he has found himself to be a billionaire. He wants to own Crunchy and make the delicious, organic food available to all income levels...he just  has to work with the woman who drives him insane with lust and frustration.

First let me say, the girlfriend group in this book is fantastic. Ambrosia has three really good friends and they are funny, and supportive, and just - the best. They put glitter bombs in Chases's office so  he has glitter butt the next day. They play together in a boy band cover band - omg! They go on stage and play N'Sync and stuff and I want to be in their girl group.

The grocery story, Crunchy, is also well presented in this book. The author didn't just slap a profession onto the heroine. We learn about Bok Choy fun and all the crazy marketing ideas that come out of Ambrosia's department. I loved it.

And then we meet Chase.

Six feet of pure sin stands wide-legged in the doorway. His smile is a lie, his smoky blue eyes a portal to self-destruction, the dimple in his chin twice the size needed to store what's left of his conscience.

Ambrosia is horrified and totally pissed that Chase is now her boss. She feels like he made her take 100% of the blame for the Bratwurst Wagon incident, and that ruined her college chances. And now he strolls into her work place, a billionaire, and her boss. She is not happy.

Number One Dick on my Dick List. He's the reason I tell people I'm from Pittsburgh. I hope when they put him up at Madame Tussaud's, they use ear wax. I hope when he goes on Naked and Afraid, they release him in the wilds of Minnesota and someone replaces his insect repellent with pig's blood.

For the rest of the book, Ambrosia and Chase fall into their old ways, pranking each other and trying hard to deny the lust they have for one another.

I back her into the corner, my dick doing all the talking. "You want my long, thick cock, and you know it."

"I want to break it in two and feed it to maggots."

"You want to bite it. And suck on it. And ride it."

"I fucking hate you."

I fucking hate her too, but I have a fistful of her hair, and I'm suddenly doing the only thing I know to do to shut her the fuck up.

I'm shoving my tongue down her throat. As far a it'll go. Gliding into that hot, wet, silky mouth where my joystick wants to be.

She sinks her nails into my ass and yanks me tighter against her, matching e thrust for thrust with her lizard tongue while she grunts incoherent insults.

And even though they start this passionate affair, the insults are  never far behind.

"I didn't come," she lies. "That was my body recoiling in horror, and you get a two-point-one on a scale of zero to one hundred."

I chuckle. "We both know better, Bro. Now suck my dick."

"Suck your own dick."

The final highlight of this book are Ambrosia's two brothers, Ares and Zeus. They are both HUGE men, portrayed to be a little cave-manish, both professional hockey players, both former best friends of Chase, and extremely protective of their sister. I LOVE THEM.

I'm in the middle of interviewing Tina, the world's perkiest woman, for a position in sales management when I hear a commotion break out in the lobby. My door flings open. "Gentleman, you can't just go in there," my admin assistant says as thirteen-plus feet and seven hundred pounds of Viking hockey players get stuck battling each other to get through my door first.

"They're harmless," I tell Tina.

I hope I'm not lying.

"Oh my god, it's the Brute and the Force," she whispers reverently.

Zeus wins the battle of the doorway and strolls in first. He whips out a Sharpie, signs Tina's head, and then scrawls his name across my desk before doing a mic-drop with the marker. "We need to talk."

Ares adds his signature to Tina's left arm and eyeballs the front of my desk in a way that makes me think he's using X-ray vision to locate my crotch.

To sign it or turn it into ground meatballs is anybody's guess.

Eventually Chase and Ambrosia's silly insults and lust-filled elevator rides, turn into a more serious romance. There are genuine smiles and conversations. But don't worry - still insults and a lot of humping.

A really fun read. Big thanks to @Elisabethjlane who tweeted a recommendation for this book. Book two is out (Ambrosia's friend Parker gets her HEA) and book three comes out in a few weeks - and it's Zeus's book! Hoooooray!

Hilariously funny...

Deliciously hawt and sexy...

Ex-friends-now-enemies-to-lovers trope, and a second chance at love romance is, in fact, a perfect dish to sweeten up your Sunday afternoon...or any part of a day for that matter! 👍😉

This book was just what I needed....it was so laugh-out-loud funny, and I loved every single character in the book!! (Thank you Tracy for lending it to me and pushing me to read it!)

So, you grow up with your twin brothers (who become professional hockey stars) and their friend, Chase. Your entire childhood/teen years are spent dodging their pranks and trying to get payback. But then one prank goes terribly wrong and Ambrosia is the only one to pay the price.

Years later, Ambrosia is determined to make something of herself and guess who is back in the picture....you guessed it, Chase. And all those shenanigans when they were young caused a HUGE RIFT between them, and also between Chase and her brothers (who are like a whole separate story you just have to read to believe.....so freaking funny)! And, let the games begin......can you say glitter bombs?!?!?!?!?!?!

I LOVED THIS BOOK!! I want more people to read it sooooo bad!!!! PLEASE???!?!?

And although I never highlight or put quotes in my reviews, I just had to give you some little tidbits from this hysterical story:

She's making this elevator stop on Every. Single. F&cking. Floor. Good Chase, the businessman, the gaming tech genius, the face I show the world, the smarter part of my brain, hops off when the doors open on the second floor, because he appreciates stairs and getting the hell away from this deranged woman. Bad Chase, though, has possessed my body and keeps me in the elevator.

This woman drives me mad. She's obnoxious as toe fungus and pathologically self-righteous. I want to crush her. I want to ruin her. I want to own her.

I'm simultaneously mortified and lustified. And if you don't think lustified is a word, trust me, it is, and I am so that right now. Hornified too, which is like being horny and horrified all at once.

Getting off is great, but He was a man who had sex, and lots of it, and in the worst locations, with the woman of his nightmares isn't the inscription I want on my tombstone. Alright fine, it would be an addendum.

"You can't feel that?", I smirk. I know she can, and she knows I know she can. "You mean your crinkly winky?" she fires back.

I tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. Christ, I want to suck on the soft flesh of her neck and brand her. "You're strong and stubborn and brave and it makes me so hot I want to rip your clothes off and make you come in my mouth." "You don't get to say nice things to me.", her eyes squeeze shut.

He apologized, my hopeless vagina squeals. Let's hump him. She's on probation, so I ignore her.

Seriously guys, don't let the title of this book put you off......as I'm sure the cover doesn't!! Total hotness!

My first book by Pippa Grant and looking forward to checking out her others!

DNF@ 39%.

I read this contemporary romance, b/c most reviews
praised the funny story.

Chase, now nearly 30 & Ambosia: "Sia" 28, had a bad
break up, 10 years prior, with each faulting the other
for the circumstances. Not once, then/ now, was either
party interested in the other side of the story. Self-
righteous behavior ruled.

Chase now became the new owner of the co. for which
Sia worked. She called- herself "bratty"& most people
"d-head." Sia disrespected everyone, w/o remorse for
her attitude. This couple mostly exchanged juvenile
dialogue. How old were they again?

The source of the humor was past/present practical jokes,
crude sexual innuendo and way too much hyperbole. The
latter IE her big/ tall brother who played in the NHL could
"bench press a Volkswagon." Really?

I stopped at 39%, DNF & my next step will be to get a refund.
I'd suggest if she has not already, that the writer should join
a writer's group to receive feedback on her stories.

I wanted a fluffy silly read after a slew of intense, serious women’s lit fic and was told Pippa Grant was what I needed. I’m on the fence with the whole billionaire meets regular girl plot but have read some great books—see: Annika Martin’s Billionaires of Manhattan series—so was open to give this one a try. It’s also available on KU so why not, right?

Sadly, even after a promising start, at 40% I was so bored of Ambrosia and Chase’s malicious hate-fucking. This is fiction and I have a high tolerance, but their relationship is SO toxic, I don’t know how this is evenly remotely believable as an enemies to lovers romance. It’s more like immature psycho meets rich, immature psycho. Overall, the entire book is 70% forced humour/hate sex, 10% profoundly inane side characters (seriously wtf with Ares and Zeus?!) and 20% metaphoric grasping at emotional straws. Some readers may be fine with this but unfortunately, not me.

I almost DNF @ 40%, 60% and at 90%. No lie, I contemplated tossing this with 10% left. Why did I finish then? Because I’m a masochist, I reckon.

Are all of Pippa Grant’s books like this? Did I start with the wrong one? I liked the smut but it rapidly became completely senseless, and the characters had zero emotional integrity to me.

Mister McHottie was a cute little romcom to jump into. I think I just need something light and funny. So, I didn't really have a problem listening to this super quick audio. The characters themselves definitely had their funny moments. I guess you could say that I was sort of committed to this or invested in the relationship. Probably because of the bantering because I do love good banter.

Other than that, I kept forgetting how old they were. Like it was weird to see them in their 20s and 30s but throwing tantrums or just acting childish in some chapters. Yeah, I'm just going to go with that was weird. I get how some people do act like that and it can be somewhat realistic but it's a complete turnoff to me.

In the end, it was an okay book. Not my absolutely favorite but easy to fly through.

Reread 7/16/18

First person, Dual-POV, HAE. Standalone.

Lots of faves getting marked lately, but you know what? All are deserving because I've read some damn good books this week. Enjoy the contentment while it lasts.

This was hilarious. Nothing butters my biscuit better than a real enemies-to-lovers story. This was brash, sexy, sometimes violent. All in the name of love. After reading Stud in the Stacks, I didn't think this would keep me as entertained as that gem, but Pippa Grant has done it again. I couldn't put it down.

Bro (But only to her lover-everyone else calls her Sia. Or Ambrosia if they're family.) gets word that the company she works for, Crunch, has been bought by the man who's held the permanent spot as Numero Uno Dick since she left home in the Midwest all those years ago. Seeing as she has a bit of a criminal record, it's either accept the news by making his life a living hell again or quit. And she's never been one to run away from a fight. Even if her sparring partner looks like sex in a suit.

"Flaccid," she whispers. "And still crooked. You should see a doctor about that."
"If you don't like it, you could quit touching it." If she quits touching me, I'm going to fucking die. "I can barely tell your hand is there anyway."

Chase, or Dick I guess if you're referring to what Ambrosia calls him regularly, is a 30 year old billionaire. Still adjusting to life as a wealthy man after years of growing up on the wrong side of the tracks. Luckily for him, during childhood, he had Ambrosia and her 2 brothers to spend his time with. Known for their ruthless pranks, and Ambrosia's ultimate revenge, the small town where they grew up doesn't have the best opinion of them. They definitely didn't after Ambrosia lost her virginity to Chase in the Bratwurst van and she essentially took it for a joy ride. After that? Well, they went their separate ways and he hoped he'd never see the hellion again. Until he bought her company and realized that the thing he'd been missing in his lavish lifestyle was someone who would fight with him, for him and had enough passion to keep up.

Basically him:

It's Bro. She'd tackle me in the produce aisle, rip my pants off, ride me like a donkey, and ask me if that was a microscopic needle in my pants or if the nice scientists in the asylum had noticed I was missing yet.

Their fights were hysterical, their sex was off the charts hot and them realizing that all those mean words weren't out of hatred (more like foreplay) was even better.

"Oh honey," I say. "I should've warned you about my magic vagina. It makes men fall madly, irresistibly in love with me. The only way to break the spell is to dunk yourself in the Hudson four times and midnight under a full moon."

I was obsessed with Ambrosia and Chase from page 1. Recommend this if you're looking for a great quick, funny love story.

'Til next time cuties ;)

I have never read anything from Pippa Grant before and I could kick myself for that. I really enjoyed Mister McHottie and read it in one sitting. The way the author writes allows you to get stuck in immediately, never losing track of the storyline.

Pippa Grant developed two strong characters , who I loved from the start. The banter she created between them was fantastic, as well as the chemistry.

Chase and Sia are the leading characters in this book and we follow their relationship. To say they hate each other wouldn’t be accurate. They can’t stand each other and that’s what makes this book even more better.

This book is a hot steamy read with laugh out loud moments, as well as moments where you just want to scream at the characters for being the way they are. It’s very funny in parts and I love a book that makes me laugh.

A MUST read for all Pippa Grant fans, new and old.

4.25 Stars

I laughed so hard my face hurt.
The sex scenes were Smoking Hot!
Both mc's were a hoot. And Very Naughty!
Even most of the side characters were interesting though most of this is All About the MC's.

There were a couple of editing errors. But not many.
A couple of areas that dragged due to repetitive thoughts and lack of communication.

I will definitely be reading this author again.

Thank you MG for your review and recommendation. You Are Awesome!

Here a few words out of the book that perhaps can encourage others readers to give a chance on this book and laugh for a moment as so much funny chapter on it ;

When he smiles, fairies sing and the sun shoots glitter on its light beams and magical, happy, non-possessed unicorns fart rainbows across the sky.
( Ambrosia May Berger - Bro )

Getting off is great, but He was a man who had sex, and lots of it, and in the worst locations, with the woman of his nightmares isn’t the inscription I want on my tombstone.
