After being left for dead on the tallest peak in the Frozen North--Arryn is ready to make good on the promises she made to Talia.
Fighting the dangers of the North only made her stronger than she ever thought possible. And now she's heading back to Arcadia to get the job done.
But she's not alone...
She found a new friend in the mountains, one who's just dying to meet Talia.
Set on the foundation laid by the Kurtherian Gambit Series, The Frozen Wasteland tells an entirely new story in the Age of Magic--and of the heroes and villains who battle for control of its destiny.
I always try to be careful when writing about a series that I don't unwittingly reveal too much. My ex-wife got to a point where I would be relating why she should watch, read, or checkout something, and she would say put it on our list. It was OUR list, because if she was going to watch something, I had to re-watch it or be open to discuss the book I recommended.
I mention this because Book 2 ended with a cliff hanger and in order to talk about this book the cliff hanger must be spoilt. So if you don't want to know, stop right here. It should be obvious that The Frozen Wasteland is book #3 of the Tales of the Feisty Druid series. In Book #2, Arryn gets kidnapped and left in a Frozen Wasteland to die, cold and alone.
Utilizing magical resources that she heretofore had not demonstrated she is able to make her way back to Arcadia. I'm making it sound way easier than it is, but really, it's a hero's journey and she has not faced the major villain yet. So, I really like the characters. I like that the romantic stuff is on a backburner, stewing slowly. I like that Arryn connects to her familiar(s). There is a lot to like here.
I loved it and Loved that Arryn finally got her familiars/buddies. And that they are snow tigers. Wondering where Mr floppy ears is at though. I love all these books but wish they were either longer or I would say come out quicker, but on the quicker part? There are so many book in the Kurtherian Gambit Series that I do good to get to some of my other novels in between. I also like that even though there is romance in these books, it's not all about the romance and I don't have to skip over pages of porn. These are something that young sci-fi reader can enjoy without reading things they don't need to read.
Started at 2 am on the 18th read for an hour then picked back up at 11 am and finish at 2:20 pm
This series has been so exciting and well written that I've given the last two five stars each. But this one was even more over the top that it deserves even more. It has well written characters that have been developed to the point you can't help either cheering for them or wanting too shake your fist. Writing in the world of the Age of Magic, Ms Crum has done an awesome job of building upon what has been established by those series that started earlier than the Feisty Druid books, incorporating characters that had already been introduced by other series. I never noticed any conflict of the elements of either the world or characters established by previous authors. At the end of the last book, Arryn had been kidnapped and left to die a painful death in the frozen north, high in the mountains. The tale of her struggles drew me in and kept me reading deep into the night only to have me up early to finish the adventure. It kept my emotions involved laughing one minute only to find myself on the verge of tears the next. I have read all the series so far in the Kurtherian Gambit World. I am always amazed that each one has been as enjoyable as the last. Micheal Anderle's ability to bring together so many talented authors is amazing. Each has brought something new to the world they write in. As to the Super Power I would want, it would be the ability to communicate with animals. Animals have always been an important part of my life and there has always been one special one around. I think it would be awesome to hear what they have to say.
If you’re looking for an action packed book where the heroine is pushed to her limits an beyond, look no further. Start with book one and don’t be surprised if there are a few times you’ve got to hold back tears or pump your fist in triumph along with the fun characters who are far from perfect, but follow the path of justice and their need to do the right thing. And man Candy and Michael make it so easy to hate the villains, but feel just a little sorry for them as they got caught up in revenge fantasies of their own and it comes back to bite them (sometimes literally)! As for Candy’s challenge in the author notes all of these characters powers are amazing but I think it would be so awesome to transform into an animal of your choosing. The healing would be great too, but for the characters to bond with their familiars by joining them in their form would be great! How awesome would it be to see Cat as a golden eagle chasing Arryn as a snow tiger for warrior training?
To be honest, I wasn't excited about the AOM part of things because it was so far away from the KG series. I started reading them on 8/30 and have read every single one and this book has been one of my favorites. Candy you have created amazing characters that I want more of. You just published this one and already I'm ready for the next. I was so excited over the bond and you picked the perfect animal type for her. You're doing awesome!! Thank you for giving us fans this amazing character and her story!
I thoroughly enjoyed this third book of the series. Arryn, despite all of the problems she has, just with staying alive, shows a strength that her friends have always known that she has, but which she'd always doubted.
Having the help of her new familiars helps a lot, too! Lol
This book was full of action, emotion, and the will to both survive, and thrive, of those who look after the earth, and the innocent.
How each group fought for survival, fits in beautifully with the whole theme of both this book, and the series as a whole, and it had moments that brought tears to my eyes - it's always a good book that can do that to me!
Fortunately, my reading list tells me that I can go straight on to book four of the series: The Deceiver, so at least I will find out how Arryn, and her many friends, are going to deal with Scarlett, and her four fellow Mystics gone bad!
Arryn has been left abandoned in the frozen north by Talia. Expecting her to die a slow agonizing death, she made the mistake of so many past villains who have a grand plan but would have been much better off just killing the hero. Talia is now the Chancellor of Arcadia since Amelia had to escape to save her life. But Talia finds out quickly that her ally, the mystic Scarlett has her own plan and is not subservient as she had thought. Arryn fights to survive and has to make her way back to Arcadia to face Talia. By far the best book of the series so far
I really enjoyed Arryn's time on the mountain and it was nice to see a little payback being administered. A power I would love to have not necessarily with in the books would be part of the Phoenix's ability from the X-MEN. The ability to fly not only through the atmosphere but also through space w/out a ship, that would be cool. Scarlett has proven without a doubt that she makes even Talia look sane, I will admit I didn't think that was a possibility 😎
This series is exactly what you need to block out the world and picture yourself somewhere else for the next few hours. You immerse yourself in the magic, the good versus evil the success and failures even the deaths and healing. It's about people and how they survive against what seems to be impossible odds. Lies, traitors, heroes, and unsung warriors; it has it all. Definitely a great read.
dumped in the frozen mountains that is Talia's mother's home, Arryn is barely surviving on the natural magic that Cathellic taught her. shelter and food are a must in the frigid environment. and getting home to continue the fight. sometimes you must fight what nature provides you and sometimes, your biggest opponent is yourself. it helps to have friends from all over and the conviction you are in the right
Wow loved this story and they just keep getting better than the story before. Great characters, great action and a great addition to the kurthurian universe. Love that the feisty druid has a bad ads familiar. Keep up the good work, I can't wait to read the next one
To answer Candy's question, I would choose healing. I'd start with my family and then move on. U The growth of Aryyn in this book is amazing and she finally gets her familiar. There are stories for all the characters and we learn a lot about each one. It's definitely a difficult book to put down. Enjoy!
Definitely the best book so far. Loved the struggle in the mountains and evolution of the relationship between Arryn, and the two tigers. I can't believe I read it so quickly and now I have to wait for the next one.
We have all been waiting for the end of Talia and I'm happy to say she is gone. Now we have to wait and see what's up with Scarlett and her friends. Can't wait to find out what happens next....
Great pace and nice little side stories. Yeah for familiars about time Arryn!!! Nice twists and turns some very predictable moments but still so very enjoyable. Author is getting her pace can't wait for the next couple of books already.
Thank you, thoroughly enjoyed this story, just as I have EVERY book in TKG. Hurry up please, want your next book NOW! Tell MA he's too slow with output of BA and M these days, feel like i'm missing close friends! 😁
Great job Candy!!! Keep them coming! I bought and will be reading your first series as well!! Congrats on number 3 and have already purchased number 4!!
I'm loving this series! Strong, capable, thoughtful women that can kick tail and take names. Bring it on! I'm with the Rearick! (By the way, why is rearick always in lower case?) And now Arryn literally has a Tiger by the Tail!!! You go, girl!
OMG, how brilliant is this series, truly, so good that I read two in a matter of a few hours!!! Now to decide, do I really need sleep or start on the next book, hmmm, next book it is!
Loved how the main character grew and overcame herself and got stronger. She also got part of her goal to help others. Waiting impatiently for the next book.
What an amazing story!! She went through hell but came out the other side with not one but two familiars!! Snow and Dante are beautiful and BIG!!! More we want more!!
