While action-packed sci-fi/techno-thrillers set in the near future are my forte, I also stray into other genres from time to time, such as space operas, paranormal fantasy, and detective stories. All my novels can be described as action-thrillers, no matter the sub-genre.

I live in the country where I breed bluebirds, which are endangered in these parts, as my small contribution to restoring nature's balance. When I'm not writing, or researching my next book, I may also be found socializing with friends, or working in the garden.
If you'd like to know what compels me to write, it's simple. I write as a force for peace. Fiction has a way of engaging our whole minds, not just our intellects, but various layers of our conscious, superconscious, and unconscious. Novels also encourage our left and right cerebral hemispheres to get in sync and, with just enough magic and wizardry, can help to transform people into more enlightened souls (the writer included) better than a hundred years of therapy or rational arguments to the same ends.
I've remained a lifelong student of philosophy, spirituality, psychology, science, and the arts.

Ok, I'm going to actually try to write a review for this. I've waited a week because honestly trying anytime before now would have just resulted in a lot of swearing. This may literally be the worst book i have ever read. Actually I just looked through my 1-star shelf and I think it is, it's maybe tied with one other book, but it is really THAT awful.
And I'm not a person that goes around just 1-starring everything. Out of over 1000 books read on Goodreads I have only 34 1-star books, that's about 3% of almost everything I've ever read since highschool. I bring this up because I realize that every other review for this book [at this time] is 4 or 5 stars and I just really would like to give some context because those ratings are going to haunt and baffled me for the rest of my life [or at least until I can block this book from my memory entirely].
I supposed I should have known better than to read a book that used the phrase 'enter the love interest' in the summary in an entirely serious manner, but I still wasn't expecting it to be QUITE so awful and also it was only a dollar. I am weak. But in literally the FIRST CHAPTER this dude gets an erection from like ...looking at a woman ...from across a parking lot. Is he 13? Honestly. Then the very next chapter has some weird 'I'm not racist, you're racist for calling me racist' thing that was ...so entirely unnecessary. I would have stopped reading this book after that if I didn't pay for it.
As for the plot, I don't even really know what it was. It's NOT a Frankenstein retelling, I can tell you that much for sure. It's some weird magic and steampunk body modification story that I guess tries to shoe-horn in a lot of references to Victorian literature [and also Batman for some reason] that do not make any sense at all. I'm pretty sure the author just put Frankenstein in the title to trick people into buying it, and I guess it worked on me at the very least. Also the characters have literally the worst names. There is one character named 'Stealy' and I'm pretty sure it's literally because they steal things. Incredible. Also it gave us this gem of a 'sentence', if it can even be called that grammatically: "Stealy groaned - the way a woman does, giving childbirth." Wow.
Towards the end the entire thing just fell apart EVEN MORE with a lot of fart-joke level 'humor' and also forced me to read this sentence with my own two eyes: "She could pass for twelve, though his fine nose told him that was definitely sixteen-year-old pussy." Um ...really? If I wasn't reading on my phone I literally would have thrown the book across the room at that point. The entire thing was absolutely pointless and juvenile and the only excuse for the whole mess would be if it was literally written by a teenage boy, because at least then there would be hope for improvement.
Awful, truly awful. I generally try to say at least one thing I liked about a book, even a 1-star book, but I cannot think of anything here. I suppose the body modifications had the potential to be interesting, but it was definitely buried way down there in a bunch of crap.
I am a fan of the original Frankenstein and was intrigued by the title. Luckily I have read Dean's books before and knew what to expect to some extent. Wonderfully creative, I always find this particular author to have a very special ability that few new writers have. He is first and foremost original and his story telling ability, backs up his imagination. Well crafted, complex and engaging, this is a book with a lean to the original and you will find it engaging throughout. Pick it up and then I would suggest you seek out the rest of this writer's catalogue.
It's hard to put this book into one category. It's part Cyberpunk, part Sci-fi, part urban fantasy & part WTH!
A fast paced look into a future that includes nanites, wizards, magic, portals & black holes into other worlds. The action never stops & the characters are amazingly well developed. You do have to concentrate while reading in order to keep up with all of the action!
If you love this type of book, you can't go wrong reading Reborn.
Reborn by dean c moore. Soren is finding the saving-the-world gig a bit trying these days. Someone is opening portals that allow entities to come through that the most powerful wizards on the planet are struggling to dispatch. Syracuse, New York, a city barely worth pointing to on the map, has suddenly become a hotspot of paranormal activity. A fantastic read. I love how dean writes. He has a way of writing so you feel like you are with the characters in their world. 5*. Tbc on fb.
I enjoyed this book, being a huge #weirdo fan via TBC this was a must read for me. Soren is a very likeable character and the way Dean Moore writes about his encounters is pretty terrifying haha. Highly recommended.
Wow! What a mind-blowing, fast-paced, thrill ride that was like nothing I have read before. Enjoyed reading this story, once I got used to the language and the style of writing. Well done Dean C. Moore, I will be sure to read more of your books.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Kindle Unlimited {except for FutureScape 1 for some reason, but I had it from freebie day}, working my way through his books, all of them are sci-fi in some way, some more 'out there' than others. This one was an ARC and assume but not positive will be ku. This one is more sci-fi superhero type. Definitely a different take on that name. Lately have been reading superhero type books on ku, between Casey Lane books and the roomie's liking them {superhero, and share the ku}, this fit. {not sure why this kindle is listed twice, so just in case....}

Enter love interest.Naomi is a telekinetic, the most powerful he’s ever seen. Even so, he suspects she’s something far more impressive still; only cloaked. If he’s right about her, and she’s a Sponger—able to absorb other paranormal abilities with just a touch—she may be ultimate sidekick. With her by his side, he could well have a fighting chance. There’s the small matter of getting her to remove him from her kill-list, but that’s how these things go. Relationships between paranormals tend to be a little testy early on; they all have trust issues. There are other complications to his budding relationship with Naomi. She comes with posse of paranormals. That’s a hell of a shield to get past in order to get to her. That could work in his favor, if he can enlist the entire team. That’s okay; he’s entirely at peace with plotting and scheming, but he’s got to find way to win them over quickly if he plans to stay one step ahead of his arch nemesis, which he didn’t know he had until a few days ago.

I received a free copy of this book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Reborn is a very clever slant on the rebirth of the Frankenstein monster. It’s a very short story, that gives the reader generous information into the life of Soren, a self-made cyber enhanced man. Soren has worked at improving his abilities using technical tools. He’s a killer of supernatural creatures.
But Soren needs help. The Beasts are getting more and more intelligent and stronger as time passes. After one such attack, he sees a woman watching him. Upon trying to speak with her she defends herself with her own special strengths setting Soren on a quest to enticer her assistance in dealing with the supernatural.
This story grabbed my interest from page one. It is exciting, suspenseful and left me wanting more. I recommend this book to anyone looking for intelligent fantasy.
I received a copy of this book from the author and I gladly leave my review. This is the first book of Dean’s I’ve read and if the other books are like this one then sign me up. This is a new retelling of Frankenstein and I actually liked this one better. It has magic and portals and I really loved the Victorian era. It made me laugh and wonder what was going to happen next so I couldn’t put the book down until I finished it. This is a definite read for anyone that loves magic and sci-fi and I recommend it. I really enjoyed this book and it’s well worth the read. I won’t go into the story cause the author says it all in the blurb but it’s a great book.
My first read from author Dean C. Moore was entertaining, yet confusing. So many characters introduced seemingly randomly along the path of the book. The storyline, captivating yet seemingly disjointed. The title. Reborn (Frankenstein Book 1) initially makes a reader think of Mary Shelley's classic work yet the writing seems to have little to do with that other than the name Frankenstein. That said, the book was well written, the characters well developed and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
An Interesting read and different twist on the Frankenstein story line in this telling te world has splintered into magic science sorcery and technology along with normal human development Dean C Moore has blended all of this into a world where you are drawn into you will become attached to the characters he has created because they are plagued by the same problems that manifest here in our real world I enjoyed this first book Reborn of the Frankenstein series well done Dean C Moore i look forward to readin the rest of the series I recommend to All Pick this book up you won't be disappointed
Steampunk meets sci-fi meets magic meets traditional telling of Frankenstein in this fresh new take on the old classic. The book is compelling and whisks you away to a future world that isn't all that wonderful. There are a group of players in this novel, all of whom are very interesting. This book is terrific.
PS - The only reason this took me so long to read was I was in the path of then Tropical Storm Irma and was without power to recharge my Kindle for three days.
Hmm, what can I say about this new take on Frankenstein by Dean C Moore? How about FANTASTIC! Taken as a whole this book really has the WOW factor. Between the nanites, magic, then stick several different kinds of magic into various thematic zones along with a dash of weirdness in Syracuse New York and and you have this post modern take on Frankenstein. Oh and we just may have an apocalypse as well.....Give this one a try. As for me I am moving on to book 2 so I can find out what happens next
Called Frankenstein in that he is a man of many parts, many his own devising, but Soren is a warrior, a mage, a monk(?) battling monsters and his nemesis. Yet this is not like any Frankenstein you have watched or read before. It is a wild ride into the unknown. It is superhero fantasy as transhumans unite to seek the answer to the plague of demonic beasts. I love this story with its complex characters, its many twists and turns of plot, and the unexpected adventures into the unknown.
Sci-Fi meets fantasy meets cyberpunk meets dytopian. This book is very different to anything I’ve read before. But that definitely isn’t a bad thing! Dean Moore has created a complex futuristic fantasy world that really sucks you in. Fast-paced, and with such well written characters, this is a really enjoyable read.
This book is great, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good dose of fun in their reading. I would put it as a super hero / Syfy / YA style book, with plenty of scope for mix and match with other genres as well, so it will appeal to a very wide range of readers in my opinion. I dont do plots or spoilers in reviews, but this is definately one worth getting.
I received a free copy of the novel from the author. I had the opportunity to review this book. This book was amazing!! I totally enjoyed the story! This author is a well written author and I cannot wait to read more!
*I received a free ARC of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.*
There was a LOT going on in this futuristic take on the Frankenstein-and-his-monster scenario. Dean C Moore mixes sci-fi, urban fantasy, religion/spirituality, philosophy, science, and some elements of romance and horror to create a unique monster of a novel. Expect nanites (nanobots) and timetravel, elemental magic and telepathy, chi, chakras and mandalas, all whizzed together to create some truly super-powered heroes and villains.
The first three ‘acts’ mainly introduce the array of characters, the world, the rules of the magic/science they are using, and how it all works together. There is a hint of Mortal Kombat in the action at this point, with the plucky band of heroes facing down increasingly nasty nasties conjured by the mysterious, evil Victor to wreak havoc on the city. There was a temptation to shout ‘FIGHT!’, ‘FINISH HIM!’ or ‘K.O!’ during the fight scenes as the characters brought their various special attacks into play.
In contrast, the non-action moments are more measured and thoughtful, even meta in places, as the protagonists ponder their roles as characters in a fantasy novel and the villain develops his plot based on the narrative causality that if he builds up enough good in his world then he will be able to balance it with a bigger and better evil to ‘balance the scales’.
Act 4 brings a sudden shift towards the apocalyptic and the tone and content become much darker. There is a high level of gross-out humour during this segment, and also the just plain gross, zombie-B-movie style. The laughs were somewhere between Monty Python’s Meaning of Life (particularly Mr Creosote) and a Farrelly Brother’s film, so definitely not for the squeamish or easily offended! Act 5 then continues with a very Pythonesque surreality as the universe begins to strain under the epic opposing forces at play. The ending is an excellent hook, in classic superhero-movie style, setting up the plot ready for the sequel.
A few minor quibbles: I wasn’t particularly keen on the portrayal of women in the universe, particularly the ‘Fat Farters’ and their fellows in the later segments. I would really like to see more from Naomi, Natura and Stealy developing into the kickass heroines they clearly have the potential to be. Character development is evidently a strong point for this author, as Player, Lar and Victor exemplify in this book, so I would like to see that continue with the team for future installments. I also felt the mention of a female villain in Soren’s memories showed promise.
I was a bit baffled as to why no one seemed to blame a certain villain for bringing doom down upon them towards the end: it just seemed to be accepted that ‘villains gotta villain’ and not held against him! I guess that some of that may be a function of living in such a super-powered world, and some attributable to the sedative effect of the Big Bad on the mood of the populace? I also felt the sex scene was one of the most unusual I have ever read, involving nanites, telepathy, snakes, the caduceus and an observation that the sex felt better than it probably looked to a viewer!
I felt this was a really interesting mixture of a lot of different ideas and am intrigued to see which direction the author takes it all in next. I can’t imagine it will be anywhere predictable!

Soren has to find a way to stop someone who is opening portals to allow monsters and other entities to come through into the human world. He also has to recruit a crew of powerful wizards to send those creatures back where they came from. He must improve his “transhuman” abilities and upgrades by experimenting on himself with nanotech. But even nanotech can’t do everything.
Naomi is a powerful telekinetic, but she might also be able to absorb the abilities of others. Soren wants to recruit her, but she hates him with a passion. She also has her own crew of paranormals, but if he succeeds, he might be able to recruit everyone.
Victor Truman wields incredible power, and Soren feels that he might be even more dangerous than he already seems.
This book is an incredible ride in a magical world full of both technology and natural powers. It includes romance, urban fantasy, slight horror, religion, and many other elements. The book is very fast paced, and you will not find a dull moment anywhere in the plot.
My only complaint about this story was that it seemed quite confusing. At many times, I could not quite tell whose point of view I was seeing the story from, and for a good portion of the story, I was not even quite sure what was going on. But my best advice would be to those who feel stuck at the beginning, just read on, because by Act 4 I definitely found myself completely caught up in the storyline, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I hope that the future books in this series will go in the writing style of Acts 3 and 4, where I really felt the most drawn into the action. Also, I hope that in the next book I will be able to distinguish the characters a lot, because I definitely hope to see growth in the characters of Naomi, Stealy, and Natura. They were definitely not forgotten in this book, and I know I will be seeing a lot more of them.
Overall, this book was entertaining and I cannot wait to start on the second book of this series. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an action-packed fantasy novel.

I have received an ARC copy of this book. What follows is an honest review.
In Reborn, we have a story of wizards and science combined, along with spiritualism. Our main character, Soren, is a man who has used technology to enhance himself so that he can fight the evils that are being released on the city of Syracuse, NY by Victor, the protagonist. Victor seems to see the math patterns in everything, and uses this to unleash beings from an alternate universe. When Victor gets in over his head, the statement the enemy of my enemy is my friend comes into play.
Along with these two 'wizards', we have various other superheros that take control of the things that Victor is letting loose. Four of these come under the wing of Soren as he tries to mentor them. All have their moment when the end of the world seems to be here.
The book starts off with action at the very start and there is very little 'quiet time' but we do have a continuous series of character development taking place. I felt there was a lot of 'new age' philosophy in the story. If this was on purpose or just the nature of how the story takes place, I do not know. I mention this because some people would react to this in reading and not like it. I do not mind it, it is part of the story and I can read around it even though I do not have new age beliefs.
There is one brief sexual encounter done in a tasteful way. There are a few amount of cuss words but they take place in the flow of the story and do not appear to be done in a way to shock a person.
This is a story that does have a distinct ending, but it is a set up for book 2 of the series with a small cliff hanger.
I can recommend this book to people from older teens and up. There was one chapter which appeared to be a stream of consciousness part of the story. Some of the images in that section could be a little to much for younger children. I did enjoy the book and look forward to reading book two.
Originally what drew me to this novel was the name-I'm a real sucker for retellings of the Frankenstein Monster and the misguided doctor trying with his dying breath to avert death. What drew me in, however, was not a re-telling of an age old tale, but the new, fresh and intriguing blend of magic and science fiction that encompasses the tale. Soren's chi magic, based on the eastern medicines of our own world, and his enhancements with science combine to make a very likeable, enjoyable and best yet, interesting protagonist to depend upon. His thoughtfulness for others within shows deep compassion, which only comes of deep character development, and the anti-hero, his nemesis, Victor's story promises to be just as intriguing to read-hopefully we can get into that back story in depth in the next installment! This was a good enough read that I went through it three times in a row fining more and more to like about it each time. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I have, and investigate this fantastic reimagining of the Frankenstein story.
So I received an ARC from the author in return for an honest review. So here goes...
In a dystopian cyberpunk future, Victor Frankenstein is still alive and kicking. No longer is he trying to find the secret to immortality, he's trying to rule the universe. His alter-ego is Soren, a cybernetically enhanced "Transhuman" who's out to foil him every step of the day. Victor calls in demons to take out his opposition (of which there seems to be a lot), Soren sends them packing. The fun begins when Victor begins to bring in demons too powerful for anyone on earth, so he and Soren have to join forces to take them down.
I kind of liked this book. It moved along nicely, packed in a ton of sci-fi references, and the leads were likable enough. It was somewhat inconsistent though. There were chapters that irked me, and some of the characters were pancake flat. I don't like 5-star ratings. I'd give this 7/10, but in the book benefits from rounding up, so it gets four stars. I would be interested to see where book two goes after an interesting final chapter.
Dean C. Moore is a Story Wizard!!! Reborn, book 1 begins his latest series Frankenstein. A gifted hodgepodge-mumble of complex science and imagination. Woven together using his Sordid and Sardonic humor. With geomancy, mythology, transhuman, cosmic and earth chi energies which for me can be confusing topics...well, What?!? becomes Wow!!! Main character, hero, Soren is a mix of Dr. Strange with both Frankensteins. His own creation. Scientific savant and transhuman extraordinaire. His nemesis Victor wants to take over the multi-universes. Be king of all Gods. All Worlds. He is opening portals, bringing in Evil. Will Naomi, paranormal 'princess' and her eclectic group, be not just his help but his place to belong?!? It's worth joining this mad group as their adventure continues to find out!!! Reborn can be enjoyed as a standalone But it's also a cliffhanger leading to a series I am looking forward to following. I received this book as an ARC. I am voluntarily posting this review.
I received an ARC copy of this book. This review is given freely and without constraint.
Reborn is unlike anything I have ever read - despite having read Science Fiction for 55 years. I very much enjoyed the completely new, to me, look at what the author is calling TransHumans. I enjoyed both the science and the philosophy as presented by the author through his protagonist Soren. I was worried that it would get in the way of the story, but it didn't seem to be an issue.
At the beginning of the story, we are introduced to a coterie of super human characters, most in their late teens or early 20s. These characters all began as flawed or broken in some way, and most came off as very young and snarky. But as the story continued we saw growth in almost all the characters and much more self-awareness as opposed to the self-centeredness they portrayed in the beginning.
The story arc is wrapped up by the end of the book, but be warned that there is a big cliff-hanger that will require another book in the series.
Mary Shelley meets Dean Koontz meets Michael Chrichton in this crazy cyborgian/steam punk dystopian version of cities and districts of New York, and a battle of the magic of old lore and Marvel/DC Characters. Crazy ride of science, fantasy, and comic book life all in one place. Good story and the characters have a lot of promise, but there were dead end scene changes, and in the beginning of the story you sometimes need a dictionary and and Hindu Priest to tell you what the author is talking about. Honestly I thought the story was really fun and quirky, but sometimes it needed a little more in background of the age and the characters themselves, and the ending was a big letdown. The story reached a pinnacle moment and then just died. I do look forward to trying to read the next in the series just to see if it brings more to the end game of the story itself because I really think this series could be fun and in the end that's what it is about.
What a deceptively funny urban fantasy. The blurb sounded interesting and I was not disappointed. Well written, I thought the main characters were funny and easy to understand who they were as the story rolled out and more was revealed. The inner monologues of everyone were a hoot. I laughed and moaned through the story. I loved the few twists that showed up very randomly, they made me go what??? I thought the "world building" was good and something new would pop up as the chapters flew by as I read it in one sitting. Had to see if the good guys stayed good and won or would Victor rule them all. Loved the Victorian era and other themes/locations/dress and stuff that showed up too. The mix of old world and future tech was great. It all came together into an addicting read that made me laugh and really think. As you can read from this review, I really liked the story.
