The only thing worse than suffering a broken heart is being forced to pretend it never happened. For two years Mara kept a secret. She was in love with two members of her security team—Landon and Early. As an actress, she’s always in the spotlight. Keeping her reputation intact is more important than anything. Until the day came she no longer cared. Loving Early and Landon meant too much to keep hiding. That’s the day she lost them. For a year, Mara has suffered in silence. The world doesn’t see her loss. They don’t know she’s broken. She’s never been more alone. Her downhill spiral forces Kieran Steele to step in, sending her someone to watch over her. Someone every bit as shattered. Now, only time will tell if a bucketful of secrets will draw them closer, or tear them apart.

Cal and Mara were definitely not what I was expecting going into this book. Both characters were so deeply hurt by their pasts that it was hard to envision how they could help each other to heal. In the end, I'm not entirely sure that I bought into their romance, but I did enjoy the story and liked seeing the other coupes that we've met over the course of the series.
I think this book was the best so far. I’m a huge fan of M/M genre, so I was a little concerned I would like this book as much because it’s M /F. Little did I know I needn’t to be concerned. I think this might be the best book in the series so far. I loved The storyline and all the characters. The drama was extremely emotional and had me in tears.
I loved the connection and passion between Mara and Cal. They really complimented each other.
Great ending. I don’t think I could smile any wider.

Book peeps be sure to guard your heart while reading the latest installment of Charity Parkerson’s Hard Hit series—this story had me laughing and crying! Oh the feels!! Mara and Cal both have scars they try to hide — some scars cannot be seen but hurt all the same. Never were two broken souls more made for each other. I absolutely loved this story and can’t recommend it enough! Charity Parkerson has a way of making you care and connect with her characters in just a few pages! I never want them to end!
Cal and Mara have unspeakable tragedy in their pasts. The best thing they have in common is their friendship with Kieran and Henley. Kieran is a hopeless meddling romantic. I enjoyed this story. This is the first M/F romance that I've read in many years. I liked it because both Cal and Mara had strong, independent personalities. Also, their love is unconditional. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS INCREDIBLE, SURPRISING SERIES!!!!
I loved this one. Yes their lives and situations are not the norm but the pain and struggle are familiar to us all. I am an emotional reader. I want to relate and feel what I read. This one did that on every level. Also, I love the fact that it's a mf romance. The world is full of all kinds of relationships and I love when a series shoes that.
The broken pieces of Cal and Mara fit together perfectly. Two people who are broken and scarred find peace and love. It's hard not to love a book like that. I am especially fond of Cal. I wish the story had been a little longer and more detailed though.
I wasn’t sure about this one, since it features (mostly off-page) a f/m/f trio. The main couple is m/f, and it works well. This book made me weepy. Cal and Mara are lovely tormented people. I liked it.
The whole MF book right in the middle of a MM series bugs the shit out of me. It was very unrealistic in so many aspects. I didn't hate it, but i really didn't love it. i could have just skipped it.
Solid, emotional, sexy, sad to glad. All the elements needed with some secrets and entanglements included to round out this story. And the Hits just keep coming.
