Hajime Isayama (諫山 創 Isayama Hajime, born 1986) is a Japanese manga artist from Ōyama, Ōita. His first and currently ongoing serial, Attack on Titan, has sold over 22 million copies as of July 2013. He has mentioned Tsutomu Nihei, Ryōji Minagawa, Kentaro Miura, Hideki Arai and Tōru Mitsumine as artists he respects, but stated that the manga that had the biggest influence on him was ARMS.
I'm so glad I read the whole manga now and not before or i would've waited for a chapter each month, a real struggle. Chapter 90 was like a closure and our characters have a new goal now. We have so many answers some were original others a little disappointing. I still need to process what I just learned because the translation wasn't good. I'm sure the anime will deliver a better explanation (at least i hope so). Since I'm avoiding spoilers, i can't tell what I'm talking about but the question marks are still there about what just happened and not even history.
I read this manga in no time, it's really addicting. The art didn't improve much but the titans are better (they were disasters before, short hands and such). I expect season 2 to be better than season 1. It will hold more surprises and twists. I don't know how animation works for on-going manga but I hope they'll even animate april's chapter (92) since it should be over 32 episodes (more than 4 months airing). Just my prediction because there's a lot of material to animate. Even though the non-manga readers will enjoy the events animated for the first time, the cliffhangers will only get worse with each episode.
Enjoyable manga? Yes Overhyped? Of course Terrible fandom? Yep Would I read it again? Nope Manga or anime? Anime. The animation will be awesome, like I said the drawings weren't so good here. We also had Trump and Hillary titans lol.

EN After several volumes filled with action and intensity, the story finally slows down to make room for narrative development.
This is one of the volumes that delves more deeply into the origins of the Titans and the reasons why humanity lives confined behind the walls, restricted to only a small portion of land.
With this volume, even though not all the answers are revealed yet, many things become clearer. It is a volume largely devoid of action, but rich in information.
This volume was full of answers and I love reading every second of it. Things are finally starting to make sense. This volume also had a couple of truly beautiful moments between characters (especially in the last chapter), and I wish that we'll see more of those. On to the next volume!
That was a whole lot of info, but quite honestly it's about damn time. Oh, and there was some sweet sweet retribution as well. I loved every second of that, all the way down to my marrow. It was delicious--pun intended ha! Definitely some sad moments as well though. There wasn't any fighting, but it did wrap up the rest of the background story, and the last page hinted at a possible glimpse of the future, suggesting the likelihood of some serious violence to come. Alas, the only way to find out if that's true is to keep reading, so onto Volume 23 it is.
Closure of an arc and a very emotional promise being held at the end of the volume If I’d known this was the price of freedom I never would have paid it.
Strong WWII vibes, with even stars on the sleeves of the ones being ostracized, in this volume. So many answers that we need a kind of reset before moving further.
I like how this whole backstory is structured - first they're reading it from a book, then when you come back to the present, it's suddenly a dream. Some time has passed. Disjointed and weird, but since this is a bunch of titans and their strange memory powers, it's to be expected.
Also, nice title-drop. It's just a too bad it doesn't work very well when translated, especially when no translator could possibly have prepared for it. In English, it doesn't work all that well. In Finnish the title of the story is "Titaanien Sota", which directly translates as "War of the Titans": I haven't read their take on this particular volume's reveal, but I'd imagine them to have an even rougher time making it work.
This volume had lots of info dumping. There was so much info dumping at certain points that I couldn't follow what was happening and I got really confused. It was nice to get some answers to some questions I had, but I really wish the info dumping would've been spread out over the course of multiple volumes so that it was less overwhelming. I'm overall still enjoying this series, but this was definitely one of the weaker volumes in the series.
Wow what a volume, we get more revelations about what Kruger aka the owl told Grisha and gave him his attack titan power and sent him to Paradis island to get the power of the original titan from the descendants of King Fritz aka the Reiss family and what happened with Grisha and them. And wow its confirmed by the dreams Eren has and the diary notes. And when this is told to the Queen historia and the council they decide to tell it to all the other people in the kingdom and its amazing what follows. It changes the entire series going forward. Those who they thought were their enemies were actually their own people...the Eldians who were bring tortured by the Marleyans. And then we have Eren and all going beyond the walls for excursion and they reach the Heavens spot where Eldians are turned to tians by Marleyans and they see the ocean. And this is the point where the 3rd act and the big focus of the series starts and its just wow. So much happens and what awaits Eren is..exhilirating. Epic volume and the writing and art is just spectacular.

Reiner is standing to my side. He is catching glimpses as I write this letter of my love for you. What a creep, he is never getting a girlfriend. But he did promise me that he would deliver this letter to you. He says he wants to repay me for saving them that day.
I’m sorry for what happened then. I never imagined I would choose them over you. I’ll be dead not long after these words. But I don’t regret anything.
I didn’t have a name. I didn’t know who my parents were, or where they were from. My earliest memory is of being one beggar among many. But one day, a man showed up and gave me a name.
Ever since then, people called me Ymir.
You may not think it’s much of an unusual name, but all I had to do was take it, and then I was given a fine bed and fed meals. That wasn’t all. Those adults who, until then, acted like I was invisible all got on their knees and revered me. As for the man who named me, he began ti dress more and more extravagantly, and as he did, he grew happier.
I felt good, too. All I had to do to make everyone delighted and happy was play the role that I had been given. That’s what I believed. And that’s why I kept playing the part of Ymir.
People had started to call me devil before I knew it; but I still kept playing the part of Ymir.
The man who had given me a name claimed that I had “tricked him.”
Still, I kept playing the part of Ymir.
I thought if that’s what would save them, it would be fine. But…
There are some people in this world who have rocks thrown at them for nothing more than existing. As their symbol, I was stoned from head to toe.
It seems that in this world, it doesn’t mean anything in particular that a simple chunk of flesh can scream and flail.
No.
It doesn’t mean a thing.
That’s why I think the world is so incredible.
I opened my eyes again, and spread before me was freedom.
From there, I began to walk and I lived the way I wanted. I have no regrets.
Or so I’d like to say. But to be honest, I do have one.
You and I still aren’t married.
–Ymir
Shingeki no Kyojin, just like its anime adaptation, turned out to be one of the best mangas ever written. I originally didn't want to read the manga series because I enjoyed the anime and I wanted to be able to be surprised by it. But I was convinced to read it and I'm not disappointed at all. This manga series has such an intricate plot, amazing characters, and plot twists that made me cry. The answers to the questions I've had ever since watching the very first episode of its anime adaptation have been given to me in the very last volumes (18 to 21). There are still many questions to be asked but more about the future of our beloved characters rather than their past that we now know pretty much by heart. So I can't wait to read the rest of it although it will be hard to wait for release dates.
The backstory was utterly shocking and unpredictable. The secluded Island of Paradis has become a Titan Free Zone at last. Armin was content to have his dream come true. I'm happy for him.

The Survey Corps went past the walls for the first time in six years and arrived at the other side of the wall: the ocean
We humans living inside the walls continue to be in an extremely dangerous situation. We would count ourselves lucky if the titans were our only enemies. Sadly the true enemy we have been fighting all along is humanity.. civilization. Or, if you will the world.
Floch is really a prick. Just moments before the memorial for the fallen comrades he's blaming the Survey Corps for putting their own feelings before important matter. Floch is less mature than the others. They coped well with the situation. Thank you Eren for cursing at him. The last chapter will get you emotional.
. [image error] .
So, we see more of Grisha's past and learn more about the world at large as well. This is definitely not what I expected at all, and I am wondering which way Eren is going to go... It's also got a lot of grey morality in it, as you don't know what version of history is actually true, and even if it is what the Marleyans are saying, does that justify what they are doing? This one is low on action but is pretty heavy on plot.
