Snow White has always been a free spirit. She enjoys partying and practising her beloved archery much more than chasing after men.
One night, late in the forest, she was hunting a deer for charity when she witnessed her stepmother mercilessly slaughter it before her eyes, performing some sort of magic in the process, vowing to remain the Queen of Tyndil for all eternity.
Yanni was devastated when she learned the people in her kingdom believed her to be unfit to rule. After learning a secret, she set off on a journey to Bjorku Kingdom to meet the notorious, known-womaniser, the Ice King. The very same man her stepmother, Ruth, has had her sights on for years.
Yanni must repair her reputation in order to become Queen, and with the right man by her side she can change her future.
Will she be able to win the man with a heart of ice and prevent her stepmother from triumphing once again?
Joanna Mazurkiewicz was born in Poland. She moved to United Kingdom when she was only nineteen and just finished high school. She had aspired to be a writer upon completion of the Harry Potter series but also enjoyed reading books like ‘Gone with the Wind’, ’Animal Farm’ and ‘The doll’. She graduated from Swansea University with a bachelor degree in American Studies. While studying in the UK she made a decision to start writing fiction in English. The “Whispers of the Sprite” is her first debut novel and she is currently working on other projects. Joanna lives in Cowbridge, a small town in South Wales near Cardiff with her boyfriend Bruce. She enjoys cycling around Welsh countryside some of which has become the settings in her first series.
Yanni the next Queen of Tyndil is far from actually becoming a queen because her wicked stepmother has her own plans and she doesn't plan to let yanni be anything more than the young party girl and the town drunk until one evening in the Woods sees her stepmother doing something she never even imagined. That caused Yanni known as Snow White among her people to leave home to find her Prince to help her become queen. But things don't always go the way we plan and she finds herself rescuing and being rescued by the Ice Kings men. Very interesting adult vesion . I was given a copy of this book as a gift from author. I am providing an review without obligation.
This book is just ok. Nothing blew my mind here. It was normal fast read, I hope that next books in this Series will have more developed edges. What I liked were drawers and The wat Yanni and James'es relationship developed. And THAT cover - I really like it.
2.5 Stars It’s not a secret that I love retellings… naughty fairytales…sign me up. This is Snow White’s retelling, and Yanni is a party girl known for gambling and getting drunk with the dwarves. It’s also hinted that she gets around, and I think she suffers from narcolepsy, because she’s constantly falling asleep. Our Prince Florian (King James) is a manwhore who we see kissing and sexing up OW. This is where (if I were tech savvy) I’d insert a pic of McKayla Maroney…. Because I’m a pretty easygoing reader, but I don’t like to read about my prince/king “hooking up” with OW in my fairytales!!
I won’t ding the rating, because this is a “Jac thing” not a poorly written thing, and I typically try to avoid marking down based on content… besides the blurb told me he was a womanizer… but I wanted to add a disclaimer in case others feel the same.
Bottom Line-This wasn’t written poorly, and I was interested enough to keep at it, but it’s not what I was expecting. It wasn’t dark, and there’s not a ton of sexytime to call it smut. IMO- making her a drunk and him a sex addict didn’t make it feel adult. Yanni was silly and immature, and James flipped his personality without much development. Just ok for me.
It takes the classic Snow White tale and introduces some fascinating and unique twists. I thought it was very interesting to pair the older, established King James with the young, untried Princess Yanni. Probably more historically accurate, but definitely not what we're used to seeing. I had some difficulty feeling their connection until much closer to the end. James' womanizing ways and Yanni's fondness for alcohol made it hard for my to really understand the pairing until they got past those issues. The loving care they both lavish on his son allowed me to see different sides of James and Yanni and made the chemistry feel more authentic. The writing style in this series confuses me, though. It has a simplicity to it that makes me think it was aimed at a younger audience, and yet it gets quite explicit in the details about the relationship between the hero and heroine. Encounter scenes that will leave you reaching for the ice water or to turn up the air conditioning. I look forward to seeing which fairy tale 'grows up' next. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
Holy cow what a book! I love these twisted sexy fairy tales. They are expertly well-written and thought out. This is the third book I. The series and they just keep getting better.
This story is snow white or Yani. This book and the ice king. Of course there is the evil queen which I did not think could be more e il then the original? But man is she ever. She is I piece of work. But I have to say snow was sure different not you sweet girl no snow is very naughty, but in a good way. And strong she even saves someone in this one. I cannot wait for her next wicked tale.
Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too
Firstly, I love the cover! It's spectacular! A creative unparalleled wicked twist on an old fairytale classic. I'm, really enjoying this series & this one included. It's well detailed in world building descriptions & settings. The synopsis is intriguing, the narrative keeps you captivated until the end & the character's are well seasoned. Of course, the seven dwarfs are included & are well blended into the storyline. Yanni (Snow White) & James (Ice King) have a slow burning romance that leads into a very steamy, & tantalizing read. If, you like adult Fairytales you will love this one. I volunteerily reviewed an advanced reading copy of this book.
Yanni aka Snow White was a party girl destined to be queen. She and her step mother Ruth never really got along. They both wanted the same man The Ice King James. Yanni did all she could to get to know James and Ruth did all she could to stop them. It was a unique twist on an old tale of Snow White and the seven dwarfs. Oh yes there were dwarfs in the story that were her party friends but they were loyal. I enjoyed reading this book and liked how the romance between Yanni and James developed. A Good Read I voluntarily received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
This was a good book however, I had a harder time fully liking Yanni with some of her was. It was like so what I am destined to be queen. But as the story continues she develops and grows so she became much more like able. James is a very alpha male that thinks he is God’s gift to all. But I love the twists and turns of the retake of Snow White. It is extremely well written and the flow is fantastic. It is a quick read but tells the story in full. I voluntarily review an advanced reader copy of this book.
I’ve lost track of how many books I’ve read from author Joanna Mazurkiewicz I started reading The Ice King & quickly discovered that it's even better than the first two books in the series. A well written and enjoyable read, as is everything from this author. A somewhat twisted retelling of the Snow White fairy tale.
OMG!!!!! I absolutely love this retelling of Snow White! Yanni is a wonderful heroine who fights for what truly is her right to have as Queen and finding love that can conquer all evil. There was a few grammatical errors but it never took away from the story being told. I received this book for free in an exchange for an honest review.
With this series, there is always a twist I’m not expecting. I’ve heard the story of snow white in a few versions and this one still threw me for a loop. I enjoyed it very much and think if you like fairytales you would like this book too!
I love the supernatural aspects added to the stories. It adds more depth to the traditional tales. Also the teamwork aspects of the couple's allows for a less damsel in distress storylibe
**I received an ARC of this book and I'm voluntarily leaving my honest review** Joanna has once again twisted another fairytale story into a toe curling sensation! This story of Snow White, definitely has different twist from the original story. Princess Yanni (Snow White) is a party girl, with no thoughts on the throne. While Queen Ruth likes it this way. King James aka the Ice King is nothing more than a man whore, after having his heart broken more than once. Ruth & Yanni both have their sites set on the Ice King. It's a race against time for Yanni too win over the people and prove her worth that she's a worthy Queen before Ruth takes her heart! It's a fantastic read, from beginning to end!
I liked how Snow White’s aka Yanni’s story goes in this version of Snow White. The Ice King James is well written and their adventure ties together nicely. I like how Yanni isn’t perfect but still tries her best.
