Simply Bittersweet is the second part of the Wine Tasting series. I love the fact that these short stories are quick and to the point.
Gisele and Ryker are now forced to sneaking around after her father tells her he wants her to have nothing to do with Ryker.
I'm going to be honest now... I have never hated a book character more than I hate Gisele's father. He needs to focus more time on his daughter and less on his snooty wife!
I'm still really enjoying this series and can't wait to see what is in sue next for Gisele ave Ryker!

Another quick read but a little longer than the first book.
I'm still unsure as to why Giselle's step-mother doesn't like her, and why is her dad so against Giselle being with Ryker? They aren't blood related so why is he so against it? Hope to find out the answers to my questions in the next book.

I received these three books in exchange for an honest review by the Quill and Ink Review Team.
Let me start by saying: a series centered about wine? A girl on a vineyard, summer love? Sounds GREAT, right?
The problem is that this story had almost nothing to do with wine other than the physical setting, let alone any artistic motifs. The heroine is 19 years old and is living in an adult version of Cinderella-meets-"The Parent Trap," where the father doesn't reunite with the mother and instead marries the "b*tchy, sex-on-legs, Cruella"-type character -- leaving her saintly mother to languish in poverty. The heroine, believing herself all grown up, nevertheless gets "sent" to her father's vineyard the summer before college, instead of going on a vacation where she intends to finally ensnare her crush. Working at said vineyard is the nephew of her father's new wife, and said nephew is a hunk. What is a girl to do? What would a villainous mother and "my little girl shall stay a virgin forever and not be romantic with my new family!" father do?
Honestly, this series would be really great if all the drama were just taken about 5 notches down. Giselle (the main character) should act her age and be either more emotionally dedicated to her mother & crush (or at least more level-headed about them). Her father and stepmother would be MUCH more relate-able and add to the story if her father had, say, irreconcilable emotional differences with the mother and was just trying to find love again, and if Amber were a sweet, hardworking, "I know I'm not your mom but can we be friends?" figure, and Giselle was trying to work through all the mixed feelings in the background.
Two last things -- Firstly, the sex scenes could use some more realistic language, eg nixing phrases like "dripping wet p*ssy" and "throbbing c*ck," and for Pete's sake, if they're going to use condoms one time like practical almost-adults, they should really continue to use them or get creative about...not.
Finally, again: with such a GREAT premise about a vineyard and winemaking, and each of the stories being named after a type of wine, I REALLY wished they had been more prominent in the story. For example: I wish Giselle had been 22 or 23 (again, she drinks at 19 in the story) and a connoisseur of wine (maybe that was "her" thing to do with her father growing up? hmmmm....), and choosing to vacation at her father's vineyard as a calm, mature adult, and she thinks about these things in terms of wine qualities and the maturation process of the grapes, etc. Just think about the potential of that sort of story! ...but, as of right now, it's just kinda....glossed over.
It's these little details about reality, shades-of-gray people, and taking life one day at a time that make these summer romance stories resonate and earn themselves a place in our hearts. I would love to read this series in a version "2.0!"

Maybe 2 and a half. It was a little better than the first one, we got some more background. But it is still kind of stilted in the way the story goes. It is only the 2nd day that she knows him and she remarks that it was the first time he'd used a pet name with her. Some of the romance is extremely instal-love, too fast. Also some of the words used for the sexual bits are a little cringe/giggle-worthy. Again, pretty short, although a little longer than the first one.

the second book in ( Wine Tasting ) we pick up with Giselle and Ryker and they sill are mad about each other as the day first seen each other. They are still keeping there relationship a secret from her father and step mother. A must to read plus another quick read.

Secret Love
SIMPLY BITTERSWEET picks up where SWEET SUMMER WINE left off, so ou really do need to read book one. Giselle and Ryker are still "hot and heavy" for each other. They are also keeping their relationship a secret from everyone. How long they can keep that secret remains to be seen. Once again this is a quick, steamy, enjoyable read.

We pick up from the end of Sweet Summer Wine with Giselle and Ryker still mad about each other as the day they first saw each other. They are still keeping their Relationship a secret from her father and stepmother.
