Pay your debt or forfeit your soul.

Mona thought her troubles were over, but little did she know, they were only just beginning.

When you owe a demon, they will always come to collect. Mona must enter the demon realm to repay her debt to the demon Adramelech. If she fails to complete her task, the forfeit is her soul.

Few have ever returned from the demon realm and those who have, are never the same. The realm is cruel, dark, and merciless, much like its inhabitants.

As if that wasn’t already enough, Mona must now deal with her growing feelings for the guys. (Yup, guys as in plural.)

Things can never just be simple for Mona.

*This is a slow burn Reverse-Harem series.

Cece Rose is the proud owner of one dog, two cats, two turtles, and one annoying boyfriend.

She hails from Devon in the South-West of England, but dreams of sunny skies and sand between her toes. Although, whenever abroad, she'll moan about the heat and the sand that gets everywhere.

She has largely convinced all who know her that she's a vampire, mainly due to her nocturnal habits and tendency to bite. In reality, it's because her creativity only ever strikes when the sky is dark and the stars are shining. (Plus, it's actually quiet enough to concentrate on writing when everyone else in the world is sleeping.)

I am pissssssed. The book actually got really good, and ANAHSGSHJSNUDUXIX. The series seems to have been abandoned.

Don’t read this series if you don’t want to get your heart broken by not having any closure.

KU 3.5

I found Mona annoying in parts of this, her reactions when in dire straits lacked credibility. She often came across as whiney and stupid, rather than making any sort of point, and her actions boardered on the ridiculous when some subtilty and sense would have served her well.

Also, this book could do with another dose of editing.

It was as interesting as the first - don't get me wrong on the rating being lower than the 4 star label the first earned - but less time was spent with the guys as a whole and the main character's frustrating tendencies to yell and not think twice during a few moments grated on my nerves. I'm not calling her downright stupid, but there are times it would seem so. Plenty of Adam time, which is a joy in itself, but not really any bonding. Meeting the hierarchy with the demons makes you wonder which and who the side everyone is on and what the eventual plan will be. Time will tell - hopefully with the third book! The slow-burn is still going strong since there isn't any more actual development in that angle. Worth a read if you enjoyed the first. Full review to come.

Book 1 in this series was a little weak for me, but I really enjoyed book 2. It's not following an overly predictable formula, although it's generally within the confines. I like the way the relationships are developing with the guys. Mona is going to have an interesting harem when all is said and done. Mona's heritage hasn't been revealed, but with all the hints dropped by the end of book two you should be able to guess at it and some other things from her childhood. Mona continues to develop into a firery heroine who goes off and does things on her own but not in a way that leaves you annoyed at her for not seeking the help of others. Really strong second book, can't wait for book 3!

Once again, I am feeling mixed emotions about this book. Even more here in book 2 than I had with book 1 actually.

Whereas I got a big kick out of Mona in book one - for the most part she was a snarky, funny, take-no-crap main character - in this book I was very annoyed by her. Her snark had turned to whining. Her passivity became so overwhelmingly obvious that it was like she never made a single decision the whole book - just bitched about things, moaned, whined, and drifted from reaction to reaction as the story took her. Frankly, "Moany Mona" was a great nickname from Nikolas.

However, I am still really enjoying the story. The concept behind it is great and very engaging. And I really like all the males (Adam included). I like the worldbuilding. And the author has done a fabulous job of getting the reader to care what happens to the characters. It is probably why the changes in Mona bugged me so much.

I very much want to see where this story goes, and am anxious for the next book to arrive. ESPECIALLY because this book ended on a horrible bloody cliffhanger :(

The changes that occurred in the last chapter and the epilogue really intrigue me. There is so much potential for where this story is going! Can't wait. I just hope Mona returns to book 1 form in the next book. Otherwise, I think this series may be ruined.

There are still the numerous writing problems - grammar, editing, sentence structure, and so forth. Some of them very annoying. A particular problem with verbs and prepositions. Both books need a comprehensive line edit.

Either way, this is a series worth reading, thus far. Just try not to choke Mona ;)

UPDATE NOTES:
83.0% "Actually, the POV is all wrong. It's a chapter that doesn't seem to stick to one POV since it let's the reader into multiple character's heads. Like some sort of weird present tense omniscient narrator. Bleh." (Edit after reading the whole - I get what the author was going for her, but it didn't work very well. That needs a complete rework.)

83.0% "Super strange POV shift here. And if it is Adam, why not just SAY it's Adam? Not like we do not know they character, and everyone there knows him too. All the "the demon"s are irritating."

72.0% "Yeah, I agree Asmodeus, I'd have killed her multiple times by now too. She is really becoming rather annoying."

58.0% "Yep, I agree with you Nick. She's an idiot."

43.0% "Grr..."Moany Mona". It fits. Her snark and sass have turned into nothing but irritating whining, and I am getting sick of it."

32.0% "*sigh* Why would anyone, who knows they are in mortal danger all the time, be so passive and lazy that they don't even bother to try to learn things to protect themselves? I have never understood that in ANY book I've read when it happens. Were it me, I'd be doing everything I could to learn how to protect myself. Hope Mona grows up soon!"

26.0% "And the grammatical errors have continued. Maybe with more prevalence in book 2. Sigh. Most are verb and prepositional problems. Some typos. Example: "I was definitely sat hunched over for too long." Bleh"

26.0% "Gotta say that I am not much enjoying Mona in book 2 so far. She has become apathetic, whiny, and self-absorbed. I hope this is a phase and passes QUICKLY...or I won't be continuing on with the series."

Mona is not coping well. She's trying to deal with the loss of Christian, Luna's anger at her, and the trauma she suffered by X. She's hiding in her room, sleeping until the guys are out of the house, not eating, basically wallowing. In the midst of her pain, Adam shows up to collect his favor. Mona must accompany him to a demon party and while there vouch that he had nothing to do with X's death. Simple enough. Yet nothing is ever simple when it comes to Mona. Once she's in demon territory it turns out that she is also on trial for her life. They will decide if she killed X, if she is a higher demon and if not, as a halfling she will be killed. Mona has had a hard enough time accepting that she is part demon, now she needs to prove that she is "demon enough" to be allowed to live. The guys are scrambling trying to protect her with the end result being quite interesting.

I loved this book. Cece is an excellent author. There is character growth, continuing backstory as we get to know the guys better, and progress with the relationships with Nick, Mason, Kaden, and Callan. These characters are so complex. I love how we get to see their different sides. The story itself and the real danger to Mona keep you completely enthralled from beginning to end. Mona is falling for all of the guys and we get much more Adam this time. I have mixed feeling for Mona. She's a bit whiny for me, but I did like how she stepped up during the tests. I think she's at her best when she forgets about herself and focuses on saving another. Her sense of justice, right and wrong, and protective streak are her at her best. I believe as she matures and comes into her magic she will be a force to be reckoned with. There is so much more to her than we are aware of.

This book is the perfect adventure. Add in the emotional depth of the characters and story and it's addicting. I can't wait for it to continue. I am dying to know the true Mona and watch the guys all give into their feelings for her.

The second book was slightly different from what I expected.
First of all, it took me some time to get reacquainted with the world and the characters. Until my memory finally clicked I was feeling pretty lost, but whatever.
I really like the general story and the direction it's taking, but what happened to Mona's character? Based on my review of the previous book, I pretty much adored the main heroine and her personality, whilst here she annoyed me to no end. I think Nick's name for her - Moany Mona - was spot on. She constantly complained in this book, always bitching about something or other, being extremely self centered and even judgmental at times. Like with Adam's character, for example. Everyone can see that there's more to him that meets the eye and that he's definitely not some devil incarnate. And yet Mona keeps being narrow minded about him. It was really frustrating and I expected better from her.
Also, in the previous book I had this issue - I wanted to have more interactions with Callan, because it did not feel as though we got to know anything about his personality. He pretty much remained a mystery and I really hoped to remedy that in the second book, but that did not happen. Here we spent even less time with him. Actually, all the guys kind of took a step back from all the actions here, which wasn't really what I hoped for.

So, in general, I still liked this book and I definitely like the plot, but I think the first one was executed better.

It took me several chapters to even remember what the first book was about I couldn't seem to jump back in. But I eventually did and while Mona was a bit whiny and annoying I still enjoyed the story and I am looking forward to where the next one goes! I have ideas to what she is, its slightly obvious I think but that's okay, I am just curious now to see it play out.

Nice Read

I enjoy reading this series. I like the plot and the characters. I enjoy the mystery of Desdemona and it keeps me reading. The book is rather short for what is happening in the story. The first portion of the plot happens and I found that I am already somewhat halfway through the book! I, of course, finished the book ;) but it gave me time to think about the book and why I felt that way. I realized that Desdemona didn't get to interact much with the guy characters besides Nicky, Kaden, and Adam. I feel that where this is heading, relationship building is key. Letting the reading have those interactions builds a stronger connection to the protagonist, the characters, their interactions with each other, and the main plot. Hopefully, in the next book we see that more because as a reader one doesn't really know all the male leads as well as one probably should after the second book even if it may be a slow burn.

Book two in the Desdemona Chronicles and I actually loved this book more than the first one. I think maybe it's because Mona is starting to know more of who she is in this book and getting a bit more confidence in what she can do that she just felt like more of a rounded character.
I liked that there was a lot more interaction between Mona and the guys in this book too, plus Adam had a lot bigger part to play as he grabbed my attention in book one and I was really hoping he's step forwards more, wish granted. There was also more of that sexual tension pinging about in this book, I love all the tension in a slow burn and this book definitely had it.
There were some real great twists in this book and all I can say is that I really enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to get my hands on book three. I feel like there's a lot more story to cover with this series and am hoping it will be more than a trilogy as I really love Mona and all the guys.

I really enjoyed this series but to tell you the truth, I might have to stop reading CeCe Rose completely. The 3rd book was set to come out 12 months ago WITH NO UPDATE FROM THE AUTHOR. She has done this with almost all of her books and its driving me crazy. I love the worlds she creates. I like the characters. I am even completely willing to wait longer if necessary. But the lack of updates over such a long time are almost unacceptable.....

I loved A Demon’s Blade so I knew that I would enjoy A Demon’s Debt. And I can honestly say that CeCe blew A Demon’s Blade out of the water. CeCe has done a fantastic job of taking everything up a notch. The characters, action and a well written plot will keep you reading A Demon’s Debt from beginning to end in one setting. I couldn’t put it down. Desdemona aka Mona is such a feisty fun character that I would want as a bff. Her snarky attitude, wit, loyalty, her determination to understand and use her power, and her growing attraction with the guys. And the guys, everyone of them are hot and uniquely perfect for her. Some of the guys in this one get a little more time with her, Mason and Nick aka Nicky. Nicky gets more time with Mona and I enjoyed every second of it, I believe he is my fave but it so hard to choose. They all are very likable in their own ways. Mason, Callan, Kaden, and Nick are even more protective of Mona, I love a good protective man, and they have reason to be.
Owing the demon Adam a debt she is forced to travel to the demon realm and testify that she killed Alastor. There she meets some interesting demons, namely Prince Asmodeus, and she in turn makes quite the impression. When something unexpected happens she is forced to show her powers. That yes a Halfling does have magic. In a realm full of demons Mona is forced to play a game that could kill her. Now she asks herself who is a friend and who is her enemy. But one thing she does know, is that her guys, yes guys, have her back. And they will do anything to help her.
I really cannot wait for An Angel's Defiance, to get some answers to questions I have, and to see the relationship between Mona and her guys grow even more. And what a development that happens at the end. We also get a lot more of Adam, is he using Mona or does he honestly feel something for her? I cannot rave about this book enough, it was just so freaking good. You will love this addition to the Desdemona Chronicles just as much as I did.

What a fantastic second book in this series by Cece Rose! Like always Cece brings the reader into the story from the very first page and makes it impossible for you to put the book down until you finish! Mona is coming into her power more in this book, and I enjoyed reading her be a bit stronger, I cannot wait to see her believing in herself more and trusting the guys in the future. There is a lot more connection between Mona and Nick and Mona and Mason in this book, and I enjoyed reading the connections become stronger between Mona and her guys! I am still warming up to Callan but I am sure we will learn more about him, and all the guys, in upcoming books. It was also great to read more about Adam and to actually see more about the demons and how they actually function...it will be interesting to see how this progresses in the future, especially after the ending of this book. I cannot wait to read the next book and to see if we get to find out who killed Mona’s Mum and I would love to see more connection one on one between Mona and the guys, instead of her doubting and pulling away. This is a fantastically written book by Cece Rose and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. Highly recommended RH novel with lots of twists and turns!!!

The first book was really emotional and gave you a great introduction to the "problem" and the characters. This book takes everything to the next level.

The "problem" and details of Mona's situation are explained and expanded upon in far greater depth. She finally learns to *start* trusting (it doesn't happen overnight) the guys.

Adam is around MUCH more and there are some interesting developments there. We also get a little more insight into the demon world. Things also progress with Nicky and Mason. Plus we finally get to meet Nick's "girlfriend".

We still haven't gotten much insight into the guys history/childhoods.I hope they share more in the next book.

Thankfully, Mona isn't suddenly just "peachy" after all the crazy, depressing mess that happened in book 1. She reacts appropriately.

This book answered a lot of questions but also added on many more, in the best way. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

Loving Mona and her men...or potential men at least

This continuation from the first story picks up a few weeks after the end of A Demons Blade. Mona is trying to come to terms with everything that has happened and is struggling. Then the demon Adam shows up to cash in on the favor she owes him, and chaos ensues. Relationships are tested, relationships evolve, and we’re introduced to additional characters. As this is a slow burn, there’s no sexy time for Mona yet, though she does get a few steamy kisses in. While some questions are answered, more arise - what exactly is Mona? How many men are going to end up in her harem and who will they be? The author is known for her twists and turns in stories, and no one is really safe in her world....I’m anxious to see what the resident Demon Queen has in store for the readers in the next book. This one was absolutely worth the wait, I’d definitely recommend this series and will be chomping at the bit for the next one!

Mona is trying to deal with the loss of Christian, the absence of Luna and the images that will haunt her forever of the damage done by X in book one. While she is struggling, the guys have given her some space, but have decided enough is enough. They get her out of her room and drag into the real world.

Meanwhile, that sinfully gorgeous demon, Adam, pops in and decides to collect on his debt. Nothing too scandalous. He needs Mona to attend a party and an interrogation regarding X's death...in the demon realm...and denying ever meeting him until X was killed. Sure she's not the greatest liar nor does she fancy being in the company of demons. But a deal with a demon cannot be broken.

We find out more about Adam, more about Mona's magic and what she must do for the demons to allow her to live.

I can't wait for book 3!!!

I just love Mona and her guys so much... seriously, kids. Especially Nick and Adam, because I'm obviously a glutton for punishment and I love the bad boys. Anyway, back to the point... this story was fabulous! Dare I say... even better than the first book? I love that we are getting to know the characters a little bit better as the story progresses, and learning a little more about the demon world. I also love that Mona is starting to come into her own power and figure some things out about herself. There were some really fun and creative parts this story that really show Cece's imagination and humor as an author, but there were still some really emotional parts as well that made me feel all the feels. I cannot wait to see how this story progresses! Soooo ... Cece, how can I summon an Adam? ... Asking for a friend.

I loved book one so much and almost went crazy waiting for book two and it was sooo worth the wait. Poor Mona has been through a lot but at least the guys have given her a place to stay and refuse to let her wallow in self pity... mostly. But what happens when Adam comes to collect on his debt? And needs her to do something that will expose her. It ends up in a very interesting storyline that ends this part of the story but does leave a tiny bit of a cliff hanger for the next. The writing is good and I managed to fall further for all the characters although I am still on the fence and I have my own theories about the little boy. Is Adam using her or does he actually care about her, read the book and make your own decision!!!

I was riveted from page one, this book had me laughing and hanging on the edge of my seat. It completely sucked me in, I could not put this book down.

Mona is a character I just fell in love with, I love her personality, tenacity, and her sarcasm and as we see more personality from Nick , Mason, Kaden, Callan and Adam I can't help but love each of them as well!
I can't wait to see how their relationship evolves! This is definently a slow burn and This book made me love Adam and Nick way more than I already did!

This is the perfect follow up to A Demons Blade, it was wonderfully written and I have a feeling the adventure for all of them is just beginning.

Oh my goodness! My anxiety for Mona was so high in this book. CeCe has done it again with this book. It is amazing! We find out that Mona isn't a halfling and she isn't just a demon. She's something... More.. but we don't know yet and I can't wait to figure it out! I spent this whole book wondering how poor Adam was going to end up with Mona.. because he just has to along with Mason, Kaden, Nick and Callan and now we know how! O.m.g. and Nick and Mona finally realize they have feelings for each other after so much dislike!! This book definitely has me wanting more. Impatiently waiting for the 3rd book and to see how the Angels handle finding out about Mona!

Book two of the series and it is even better than book one (and book one was awsome). We get to know more about snarky fiesty Mona, she is a fantastic heroine, the humour throughout had me crying with laughter, the Romance had me swooning and there is plenty of action and drama keeping me glued to the page. With twists and turns I did not see coming, my only disappointment was that I came to the end of the book. This is a fabulous read and I will be pre ordering book three as soon as it is available

Cece outdid herself on this follow-up to A Demon's Blade! I didnt think it could get better, but it totally did. The tension was amazing in this one too. We get to see Mona figure out her powers more and we get more glimpses into the demon world. I love how much Cece was able to give us in this book, she added more layers to the amazing characters she and her co-author Caycee English created in Book 1.

Cannot wait for the next book, everyone should pick this series up and read both Book 1 and Book 2!

What an amazing second book in the Desdemona Chronicles!

I loved getting to watch Mona grow into her powers. We learn a few things about Mona in this book. But we also now have 10 new questions about her. We get to watch her relationship progress with Nick and Mason in this story. And we see how her relationship will start to progress with the guys in stories to come.

And Adam! We see a side to the Demon I never thought we would see.

This book kept me interested from page one. I couldn't put it down until I was finished.

Another great story by Cece Rose

Adam!!! I love Adam! I'm so glad we got to see more of him in this book. Don't get me wrong, I love the other guys too but there's just something about Adam. He's so bad and hard and yet there's a soft and tender side to him as well. I enjoyed getting to see more of the demon world, even though we didn't have a lot of fun there. Nicky didn't let us down in this book either. So glad THAT finally happened. All in all, this was a great second book in the series and I can't wait until the next one.

Cece Rose has once again proven how amazing of an author she is! I loved this second installment of the Desdemona Chronicles, maybe even more than the first one. One thing I love about her characters, and she does it here with Mona, is that they all have normal reactions to things. Mona doesn't automatically accept things as some other characters do. She questions things and people and has some spunk! I love getting to learn more about the demon world and all of the new characters. As always my biggest complaint is always that I want moreee!

The second installment of The Desdemona Chronicles, is way better than the first book but still suffers from alot of the same problems. Mainly it really needs some better editing. Mona is still being a dumbass but I'm really loving Adam.

Apart from that I was under the impression that this was a duology and after finishing this book (where things are finally picking up on the RH front) I realize that it's not. The next book is supposed to come out some time this year and patience is not one of my virtues.

Just Me Ranting:

The heroine, Mona, is so fucking annoying. She’s so judgy about demons. She's so quick to judge Adam on what she infers things to mean. Yet, even the reader understands that Adam isn't who Mona assumes–if it's visible to a reader it should be obvious to a character.

Seriously, nothing is fixed by just screaming about how unfair everything is–her nickname 'Moany Mona' is apt.

Also, I didn’t realize or think about it until now, but Adam might be another guy in her harem.
