Miss Alice Bursnell is determined to wreak revenge on Nathaniel Eastwood, Viscount Abingdon, for the seduction, ruin, and death of her beloved twin sister. But how to expose a seducer without falling prey herself? As she gets closer to Nathaniel, she finds she is in serious danger of following in her sister’s much-too-tempted footsteps. The man is nothing like the heartless rake she expected...and his kisses are truly divine. Could she be wrong about him?
When a mysterious and gorgeous woman confronts Nathaniel at a fancy ball, he suspects she has murder on her mind—his own. But the more he tries to determine who the deceptively innocent beauty is—and what she’s up to—the deeper he falls under her alluring spell. Nathaniel fears he’s in imminent danger of losing his life...or worse, his heart.
Elizabeth Bright writes smart, passionate romance with heart, humor, and heat. "Sparkling prose...unrelentingly sharp...unabashedly nerdy." (Bookpage) When she's not writing stubborn heroines and the men who adore them, Elizabeth can be found hiking and rock climbing. She lives in Washington, D.C. with her two daughters, who are every bit as headstrong and wonderful as the characters she writes.
Way too ott angsty, hellbent on getting revenge, weak clumsy hero, and that was just the first chapter.
I stopped right when the chandelier fell during a ball, with the heroine dashing across the crowded ballroom to push the hero out of dangers way (even though her life’s goal is to ruin/hurt him herself) and then the heroine’s chaperone aunt came barreling in to the ballroom to immediately apologize for the disaster, claiming her niece is always involved in one disaster after another (and the aunt had no clue what had actually just happened).
Why would the aunt do that, and further embarrass her niece and turn her into a social pariah in front of the ton? She wouldn’t. The whole chapter was just silliness that I’m not in the mood for. Maybe another time.
Alice Bursnell has a simple goal in mind – make Nathaniel Eastwood pay for the ruination of her now deceased twin sister. His picture in a locket from her sister is all the proof she needs that he’s the one responsible for her pregnancy and subsequent death in childbirth. The only problem is that someone else seems to have it in mind to get to him first! Mysterious ‘accidents’ keep interfering with her own plans. And to her chagrin, he doesn’t seem to be the cold-hearted rake she’d imagined he must be. In fact, his awkward and socially inept manner makes him rather appealing. Soon Alice finds herself engaged in a much different relationship with Nathaniel than she’d expected – and swept up in the plot to catch whoever means him harm. Will her plans for revenge lead instead to a lifetime of love?
What a fun read! Debut author Elizabeth Bright delivers a fast-paced and entertaining romance with lots of twists and turns to keep the reader on their toes! From London society to a countryside house party, one is never quite sure what will happen next (true for both the reader and the characters). Alice is still mourning the loss of her sister, and while she’d thought revenge would be sweet, it instead leads her to some interesting discoveries about Nathaniel and his family. Things are not quite what they seem, and the more she finds out, the more her feelings for Nathaniel change. The attraction between them leads to kisses and then to more in some sensual love scenes. But the danger to Nathaniel is never far away.
Despite the suspenseful subplot, the story is overall quite lighthearted. This is achieved in part by two of the secondary characters. Duke Wessex is Nathaniel’s best friend and is opposite from Nathaniel in character. He’s charming, affable, a hit with the ladies and the one who gets invited to all the parties. He’s got his eye on Miss Eliza Benton but she’s quite adept at ignoring him at every turn. Eliza and Alice become fast friends over the course of the story, and she’s the one who helps Alice see that Nathaniel’s feelings for her are genuine. It seems that there is a story to tell for Wessex and Eliza, but we’ll have to wait and see if that’s the case. Alice and Nathaniel solve the mystery of who is after Nathaniel and why, and get a sweetly satisfying happy ending too. If you are looking for an engaging, lighthearted Regency romance, you should add this one to your list!
2.5 stars There are all sorts of tortuous goings-on in this one. A case of mistaken identity on the part of the heroine, Alice, who believes the hero Nathaniel seduced and abandoned her sister, and the viscount hero himself, who is a target for an assassin he believes might be his brother. He is actually a bit of a kook, probably because he has seen most of the previous heirs in the family knocked off and is awaiting his turn!
The odd grammar mistake, or wrong choice of word, distracted me, too. For example, “Alice stared miserably at the floor. How to revenge without being seduced, that was the question…” "Revenge" is a noun, and cannot be use as a verb- the verb is avenge.
It was a bit of a fun romp at times, and quite an enjoyable read, but I like my heroes a little more masterful, tbh. Nathaniel had his moments, but all this guy seemed to do best was run away.
The h is determined to make the H's brother pay for what he's done. The H is a twin and in this family it makes him a potential killer. The H falls for the h very quickly and he's inexperienced as is the h. I liked this story line and that some issues are to be resolved in book 2. Great read.
“Twice as Wicked” is the debut novel by historical romance writer, Elizabeth Bright. I have to tell you, I am always a bit apprehensive about reading debut novels but this cover drew me in, and I HAD to read it. Imagine my happy surprise when the book turned out to be better than the cover! This is an excellent and satisfying historical with a great plot and complex characters.
The Story- Alice Bursnell is mourning the death of her twin sister who died in childbirth. The only clue she has to the father of the child who left her poor sister alone in her shame is a picture in a locket. Her goal is now revenge. She knows who she is after, and she will make him pay. Nathaniel is intrigued by Alice, but begins to suspect her motives when he keeps encountering threats on his life in her presence.
My Thoughts- I loved this story. The way the mystery is developed and solved is masterful, and I feel like Bright still has some surprises for us in her pocket that will be revealed in the rest of the series. The characters are intricate with complete backstories that inform their motivations. I never once felt like the characters were doing something stupid or random just for the sake of furthering the plot, which is refreshing. Alice, in particular, is wonderfully feisty and intelligent. I completely sympathized with her and her journey. The secondary characters, especially the Duke and Eliza, give a depth to the world (and make me hope for their story). The Bottom Line- Elizabeth Bright is a talented new author, and fans of historical romance will love this book. She has a great handle on this time period, and her plotting is original and well-done. “Twice as Wicked” is currently on sale for .99, and that is a total bargain. I recommend it at full price. I will read the future books in this series, and I look for great things to come for Ms. Bright. 5 stars!
4.5 stars! (When are you gonna give us half stars, Goodreads?)
"What are you going to do?” he asked warily. She smiled sweetly. “Why, discover your weakness and use it against you.” She tapped her fingers on the table in anticipation. Her smile widened. “This will be such fun. I do enjoy a new challenge. It is so thrilling, don’t you think?” “No.” She laughed merrily. “I meant thrilling for me. First, though, I must learn your weakness, since I do not know it already.” His expression shifted slightly, and he leaned forward, his voice low. “Do you not?”
I loved this book. It takes the trope of a bad man just needing the love of a good woman and turns it on its head. In this story, it's the heroine, Alice, who is up to no good, and it's the love of Nathaniel that pulls her back from a dark path.
This isn't the book I was expecting. The cover is gorgeous, but kind of dark, and it's a tale of revenge. But it's actually very funny! The dialogue had me laughing so hard, especially with the side characters like Wessex.
Nathaniel is the perfect antidote to the alphaholes I'm so sick of reading lately. He's awkward and kind, and every time Alice was mean to him, I wanted to smack her, lol.
My first book by Ms. Bright. I do like her style of writing. My biggest problem would be the plot. You do have to suspend your disbelief when it comes to the romance genre but this book takes it a bit too far. An heir to an earldom has a twin but no one seems to know about it? This is one of the examples. This book is littered with implausible scenarios. The plot is a tad convoluted for a rather short book. I'll probably skip the rests.
Oh, I really wanted to like this more. But the author says in her dedication she's a fan of Austen, so I'm sorry, but the historical inaccuracies are too many to forgive if this is the case.
Twins were pretty rare. Their behaviour is outrageous. The language falters in many places. Chipmunks don't live in the UK. Northumberland is up north; nowhere near The Channel. We had imperial measures until very recently (not metric, so no kms, which we still don't use btw). These are just some that I can remember.
That being said, it was fun. And, historical inaccuracies aside, it was really well written. It had a good flow and flair.
If you want more of a modern romance, set in Regency England, then this is fine. It's actually quite sweet.
Twice As Wicked by Elizabeth Bright is the First Book in The "Wicked Secrets" series. Alice is determined to get revenge on Nathaniel for what he did to her twin sister. Alice twin sister died in childbirth and she believes Nathaniel is to blame because he didn't do the right thing by her sister. Alice tries to fight her growing feelings for Nathaniel while she tries to get her revenge toward him. But someone else seems to be out to get him also because he keeps having some near death experiences. Nathaniel knows that Alice isn't what she seems...is she the one that appears to be trying to kill him. I truly enjoyed this book! What a great start to a new series. https://www.amazon.com/gp/profile/A2H... https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/1... https://twitter.com/soapsrus68 https://www.facebook.com/RomanceBookR...
Twice as Wicked's stunning cover is what originally caught my attention. There's just something I always love about pretty dresses, especially when they're red. Then I read the summery and was even more sold. A tale of historical romance featuring revenge, viscounts, and twins?! My romance loving heart was rapidly beating.
The Result? Suspenseful, witty, and romantic, Twice as Wicked isn't a book you can read over a few days; instead, it's a read that calls to be read in one big swoop!
I don't know about you all, but I love a blunt, outspoken main character, and as it turns out, Alice was just that. From the first page, I fell in love with her voice. I loved her observations about society, how she always managed to say the wrong thing at the very wrong time, and how she would much rather be in the country than in the bustling city streets. Quite simply, she had a heck of a lot of spunk, and boy, was it admirable. The aspect that truly made her character come alive, however, was her bond with her twin sister. I respected her need to seek revenge for her sister, and while at times I couldn't believe the harm she would put herself in to complete it, I could understand. Her heart was broken, and the only way she thought she could fix it was by breaking, or more accurately destroying, someone else's heart.
Nathaniel, on the other hand, was a man of few words - not because he didn't have a lot to say but he didn't quite know how to get it all out in public settings. I found Nathaniel's awkwardness endearing and heartwarming. I especially loved the dynamic that came into play between him and his popular, playboy best friend - they were such opposites yet they completed each other so well. Similar to Alice, Nathaniel's life was run by his brother. Unlike Alice, he wasn't close to his brother; instead, he was scared, often choosing to run the other way. I thought Elizabeth did a great job of presenting Nathaniel's mixed feelings over his brother. It was a complicated situation to say the least, and I could understand why no matter how much he wanted to accept his brother into the fold again, it was also a hard thing to do.
The plot in this focused on two of my favorite things - revenge and romance. It was fun to see Alice's relationship with Nathaniel form first on revenge basis and then develop into something more. At first, she's so adamantly against him being a good person; however, as the book progresses, she began to see there's more to him than meets the eye - sometimes unwillingly but still she saw it. The romance between them also had a lot of chemistry and developed at a good pace. It felt realistic, and I especially loved the amount of adorable awkwardness that came because of it. Alice and Nathanial always found themselves into some hairy situations, and while I'm sure they were turning 500 shades of red, I was laughing my head off. The revenge was also well done.
The only aspect I didn't like about Twice as Wicked was the ending. It seemed rather rushed; however, regarding the overall result, I was quite happy.
In all, Twice as Wicked is a fun, fast-paced adventure about revenge, evil twins, and romance. This may be my first book by Elizabeth Bright but it certainly won't be my last.
Twice as Wicked takes us a journey to the year 1816 in the beautiful town of Northumberland, England. Where identical Adelaide and Alice have lived their entire lives. They both were sweet young girls, but Adelaide has gotten herself into a situation that is suitable for a young lady, so that she doesn’t bring shame on her family she is sent away. Leaving her sister behind. And this is where our story begins.
Alice has learned that her sister Adelaide dies during childbirth and she is angry and hurt, at the man who got her sister in the situation and for not making the situation right either. So, what does she do? She sets out to find the man and inflict some much needed revenge. Finding him was he problem, but she has one clue, and takes it and runs with it. Leading her to a man named Nathaniel Eastwood, who happens to be the Viscount Abingdon. But he is most certainly not what she was expecting from a man who left her pregnant sister to fend for herself to be like.
The characters are in this are so we developed, and felt so easy to connect with. Alice was heart stricken by the death of her of twin, and I wouldn’t have expected anything less. And when she set her mind to something, there is no stopping her. I really like that she was this strong independent women, that didn’t hold back. It was the norm for this era, but of course, I always root for the rebellious types anyway. Now, Nathaniel is shy and passive, and even though Alice gives him such a hard time with each encounter they have he never has a harsh word towards her. I wanted to smack her a couple of time, wow was she snooty and snippy with him, but that her playing the part so I looked past it. The banter between them had me giggling at times though. But, Nathaniel still didn’t trust her completely, and that I will give him credit for and for just being a good guy all around.
As story progress and Alice is trying to piece together how she is going to get her revenge for her sister, she learns that Nathaniel is in danger from someone who really is trying to kill him. I was curious to see how that would play into Alice’s plan of revenge. And who was trying to kill Nathaniel and why? Did it have something to do with family history? And that, love/hate relationship that Alice and Nathaniel had at the beginning turned into some pretty steamy sexy scenes. With a few little twist and much changes between Alice and Nathaniel *fans self* the story becomes even more engrossing. And that ending was freakin fantastic!
Twice as Wicked was a tale of a sisters revenge that turns into a steamy historical romance, what more could I ask for. I can’t wait to see what the next book in the series will bring.
It's an interesting story full of intrigue and romance. Alice had a twin sister who dies tragically and now she plans to make the person, who caused her sister grief, pay. Nathaniel has a twin brother, who is few minutes younger than him. It seems that his brother may very well be the cause of his demise. He has learned to never trust anyone, least of all a woman. But it seems that he is willing to give Alice a chance. May be she will turn out to be trustworthy. Alice approached Nathaniel Eastwood for one reason and one reason only; revenge. Soon she realizes that he might not be the man she is looking for, but she can still use him to get to his twin brother. However, more time she spends with him the more she admires him. He is unlike anyone she has ever met before. Only if their circumstances were different she may have considered him as a suitable husband, unfortunately their is no future for them.... Nate begins to like Alice. In spite of his misgivings she seems like a person he can even consider spending his life with. Although, he fears that there is something she is hiding from him. Will trusting a woman cost him his life or is he going to find his soulmate at last? I quite enjoyed reading this book. It's unique in a way that along with romance there is some mystery involving the twins, which makes everything all the more interesting. I loved both main characters and side characters were not bad either. I think every historical romance fan will like this book. P.S. I received a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley.
Alice is a twin, her sister was sent away, when she became pregnant and they both died.. Alice was out for revenge. She was going to make him suffer greatly. Lord Nathaniel Eastwood, Viscount Abingdon, was a twin also. But for the past six generations, only second sons became earls. So his twin was sent away so he could not hurt Nate. This was an amazing story, so much intrigue. The descriptions put you into the scene, like the fields of Daffodils, with their yellow heads bouncing in the breeze. The characters seemed authentic and the dialogue fit the action. The plot had a few twists that the author did a great job of presenting them, It made it an easy read. I really loved this story, there were so many feelings being shown, revenge, loneliness, fear and eventually love. There are some sexy scenes. So it gets a little hot. I read this book in one sitting, I wanted to know who was trying to kill Nate and if it was for the earldom. A marvelous tale. I received this ARC from Net Galley and voluntarily reviewed it.
This was a really delightful book, I loved both characters and the way the romance unfolded was really great. I’m excited to delve into the next book after realizing who the characters are. This was funny and sweet and tender and steamy and hit all my histrom sweet spots. Plus, a virgin hero!
I've had a lucky streak lately picking books and Bright's debut (hard to believe something this engaging and polished is a first book!) was no exception.
The story is fun and very different from anything else I've read. I also thought the characters had personalities that were all their own. Alice is that perfect balance of heroine who manages to be steady of purpose, intelligent, and ingenious without appearing too modern or coming across as annoying. I may be old fashioned, but I like to read historical novels where the characters act like a person from the early nineteenth century might have done, and Bright has a skilled, deft touch in that area.
Nate is also an intriguing hero who manages to fall somewhere between alpha and beta (so, I guess gamma?) Anyhow, he endeared himself to me when he showed a healthy concern when it came to his own hide. All too often characters in a book (especially heroes, who we like to be assertive) fail to respond in realistic ways to threats or danger.
I also liked (without going into spoiler territory) Alice's ability to adjust her aims when the evidence showed she had guessed incorrectly.
Bright writes GREAT dialogue and has a witty turn of phrase that makes reading her characters' introspective moments a joy, as well.
Lots of fun to read and I've already bought book two!
When I started the book, I was actually shocked (not in a good way) that this book had 64 chapters. But I decided to give it a try. It started off promising but became draggy as it went on.
When I reached chapter 26, nothing really exciting happened between the hero and heroine except two kisses. The main issues were that their chemistry felt non existent and the pacing was too slow. Decided to stop as I don’t think I could take 40 more chapters of this, making myself miserable.

My Thoughts: This is a well written and surprising debut novel. Alice has been grief stricken by the death of her twin whom she lost in childbirth. Her sister was unmarried and had been ruined by an unknown gentleman. Alice suddenly is presented with a clue to the man's identity when she is given her sister's locket which once contained a miniature of her likeness. That is no longer the case. It now contains a miniature of a man, her sister's lover and the cause of her death. Determined to make the man pay, she sets her course to find him. Now, a year later she spies that face across a crowded ballroom. Nathaniel is a shy and often clumsy gentleman. When a beauty seems to set her sites on him at his friends ball he is in shock. Then she saves his life and he in turn saves certain scaring of her. When he sees the look in her eyes though, he is certain she dislikes him for reasons unknown to him. This convoluted and often comical tale is a winner. I gave this book 4.5 of 5.0 stars for storyline and character development and a sensual rating of 3.5 of 5.0 flames. The intimacy is quite mild in this story. I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
‘Just how was Alice to find the seducer…without being seduced herself?’
Alice and Adelaide were twin sisters and very close, which made it a double shock for Alice that Adelaide had been seduced and fallen pregnant, followed by tragedy when both she and her baby died. Alice determined she would uncover the seducer of her twin and make them suffer, no matter what it took to do so. All she had was her sister’s locket which had once contained a miniature of herself but now held the face of a man and the initials NE...
Firstly, a huge admission, I am not a regular reader of romantic fiction and came to this book expecting that I would not enjoy it so much. I was wrong, I did enjoy it as it has a compelling blend of humour and mischief, naivety and adventure. The fact our two romantic protagonists are both innocents when it comes to the other gender, adds a touching sweetness to their encounters.
'Fate did not exist. All that existed were choice and consequence.'
The book is well written, but in a very dramatic style that at times is a kind of pastiche of its own genre. The characters are not the classical hero and heroine of romantic tales, although they do draw features from their archetypes. The pace is good and I always looked forward to picking up the book again each time I put it down.
The only thing that spoilt the read for me was the intrusion of immersion breaking anachronisms for a story set in England in the 1800s. Such as the use of kilometers instead of miles, for example, ‘Duke Wessex’ thus referenced instead of always as ‘the Duke of Wessex’ and termites (which have never been native to the UK) instead of woodworm. There were also some aspects of the plot I felt were never properly explained, but - spoilers.
Overall I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who likes a good romantic read, or the more general reader who is seeking an enjoyable light read.

💬 Just as a disclaimer, I am not as well read in historical romance as I am other sub genres, so I apologize if I misconstrue or misspeak 😅
I liked this story a lot! It had a different vibe from what I was expecting, especially with how inexperienced both MCs are.
Along with that, I was surprised that Alice's character seemed more like what I expected a stereotypical regency woman to be like, as opposed to the more badass/outspoken/progressive characters I feel is usually the norm.
(There's a LOT of nuance to that statement that can't be actually described on IG)
The story pulled me in quickly, (although the opening is pretty heartbreaking) and I flew through it. Honestly the whole fratricide plot was interesting, coupled with the attempts on Nate's life. I did expect there to be more of a plot twist at the end, it seemed like something was being set up but never planned out.
I also liked that Nate appeared to be neurodivergent?
I do think there's something missing from the story, although I'm not sure what it is. Maybe as I finish the series the stories will continue on and thus feel more complete?
Alice Bursnell recently lost her twin sister. The fault, she is convinced, falls in Nathaniel Eastwood's hands, a Viscount. They meet in London, she salving, actually, his life. As time passes it's not clear what it's in danger: Nathaniel's life, Alice's revenge plot, or their hearts.
At first, I was very excited about the plot: the heroine wants revenge! but the hero is already falling for her. However, it quickly loses its interesting element. The story is quite predictable and not even halfway through, important plot elements are resolved. And I'm not saying this is bad, but I was so invested in the revenge plot and I ended up disappointed.
The romance is, nevertheless, very good and I could almost forget the promise of death!tension!ruination! Nathaniel is the shiest hero I have ever met and I loved it! He blushes and is left out of words, and Alice enjoys so much teasing him. They are a really fun a couple and they have a very good chemistry.
I loved Alice, loved her. She is a funny, resourceful, smart and loyal. I couldn't not like her, she is everything I like to see in main characters. Her love for her sister is heartwarming and beautiful, and her friendship with Eliza was so good. I really liked Eliza, too. She is quite a feminist and I'm always here for rebellious characters.
Nathaniel, as I said before, is shy and quiet, he is not comfortable with people, especially with ladies who flirt. He made me laughed so much. It's very heartwarming to find an inexperienced, insecure hero. He is also ridiculously sweet. Come on, he falls in love with Alice so hard and so fast. He made some comments tho that I didn't like at all after they had had sex and why?
Anyway, I really liked the heroine and the couple was very funny. Although the plot wasn't exactly what I was expecting I enjoyed the story a lot.
The next book of the series is coming out next week and I can't wait!!
Recevied a copy through NetGalley in exchange an honest review.
I have been on a roll lately reading a lot of good books. Not sure why but I am not complaining. This story is right up there in terms of quality. A debut book that is fun and flirty and intriguing. I loved it! I could not figure out the mystery which really hooked me. Alice and Nathaniel are wonderfully written characters and their banter is off the charts. I do not want to leave out Wessex. He is wicked and hilarious. I was left with questions – who is Mr. Manning and why is Nicholas involved with him? What is Nicholas’ endgame? What is up next for Wessex and Eliza? All questions I look forward to having answered in future books. If you like smartly written characters, give this new author a try.
I do like to go out of my comfort zone as regard to the genre's I prefer to read. I found this tale of revenge very intriguing, and quite entertaining. It follows Alice, who has sworn revenge on the man who got her twin sister, Adelaide pregnant thus shaming her, and forcing her parents to send her away from public scrutiny to her baby. Alice finds out who did this deed to her sister, and does everything she can to make him pay for what he did.
Overall, this story was well written and conceived. Yes, there were the odd little discrepancies, but it didn't mean that I enjoyed the story any less.
If you like historical romances, then you will probably enjoy this. All in all, I enjoyed it.
I received this book from net galley for an honest review. Thank you!!
This novel was a nice read. It involves romance and revenge. However, one needs to have all the facts otherwise their choices can have disastrous consequences. Nothing is ever as it seems. Miss Alice Bursnell blames Nathaniel Eastwood, Viscount Abingdon for the death of her twin sister, who died in childbirth. Alice sent one year gathering information for revenge only to find out there was more she did not know. Nathaniel is a shy man and does not always appear comfortable in his position. When Alice saves his life, he does not trust the look in her eyes. Alice is stubborn and goes ahead with her plans, even when she learns the truth about Nathaniel's twin brother. She still wants revenge and Nathaniel wants to stop her, which creates much conflict between the two, since they have developed an attraction and fondness for the other. Nathaniel has been dodging death traps, since the second born son in his family ends up inheriting the earldom. I felt like the novel did not fully explain the attempts on Nathaniel's life well or the true reason behind the attempts. Nathaniel falls in love with Alice, but is frustrated she cannot get past her revenge. However, he still needs to resolve certain issues with his brother. As Alice realizes she is falling in love with Nathaniel, she needs to make a choice between revenge and the man she loves.
I actually enjoyed this book more than I expected to. I think that was due to both the writing and the story. This is the first of Elizabeth Bright's books that I have read and it doesn't look like there's anything else out there yet under this pen name. However, the book is well written with an engaging story line and interesting characters that are likable. The story is about Alice who loses her sister in childbirth to an unnamed rogue. Alice goes on a hunt for revenge for the death of her sister and her search leads her to Nathaniel. Meanwhile Nathaniel has been finding himself in life threatening situations where Alice seems to always be around, causing him to grow suspicious of her. As the story develops, we see that things are not what they seem. I really enjoyed the characters, especially Nathaniel. He is not your typical regency hero or redeemed rogue, instead he is shy and awkward but very endearing. It was a very enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to what's next in this series. I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I started this book because I have not read a revenge story in quite some time and wanted something a little darker. While this book wasn't the tale I was expecting I ended up still being swept up in its plot. I liked the characters (especially Nathaniel in an odd case where I like the hero more than the heroine) and found the writing to be strong. The end was a little convoluted but it did not detract from my enjoyment. I will be looking for the next in the series.
