Meindert Fennema was a Dutch political scientist and Emeritus Professor of political science, who was attached to the Department of Political Science and the Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies of the University of Amsterdam, where he held the chair on Political Theory of Ethnic Relations.

Meindert Fennema schrijft licht en met humor. Het boek leest — op enkele zwaardere passages na, vooral waar hij het academische strijdtoneel binnen de politicologie uit de doeken doet — verrassend vlot. Als tijdsdocument biedt het mooie inzichten, en een paar thema’s nodigden uit om verder te zoeken.

Wat de opmaak betreft: de laatste pagina’s bevatten een fotokopie van het Haagse Post-artikel uit 1979. Door het verkleinde boekformaat, de grijze achtergrond en de kleine letters is het niet gemakkelijk leesbaar. De kopteksten maken gelukkig wél duidelijk wat de strekking is.
